This is really unfortunate. I'm sorry that nothing works. I was going to mention holding down the power button and doing a force shutdown but you already did that. You might need to take it into the Apple store. I don't know if booting into safe mode would help. You would have to turn off the machine again, hit the start button and hold down the shift key after you hear the tone, but normally you would let go of the shift key when you see the apple logo and spining wheel. Maybe by holding down the shift key after you here the tone will cause the screen to come back on? The other option is to start up from the 'install disk' if your machine came with one. You would insert the disk, then shut down the computer, and hold down the C key right after hitting the start button.

If those solutions don't work your iPhone 4s has developed a hardware problem. The permanent solution is to get it replaced.
You can search the internet for heating and freezing solutions that might work (at least for a while).

Speculation: On some iPhone 4s devices there may be a flow soldering problem with the WiFi chip. After long periods of WiFi activity such as installing an iOS update (for example, iOS 7 or iOS 8) there may be a connection failure. A work-around to this is the procedure in the youTube video.

My iMessages won't work on my iPhone 5. Any help would be appreciated.

As the title says, my imessages just wont work on my iphone 5. I have tried everything from a dfu restore, to turning imessages on and off, resetting network settings, turning off sending as sms, etc. etc. If I put my sim card into a friends iPhone 5, my iMessages activate and work right away.
Every message I send seems to send as a text.
iMessages in settings is activated and looks like its working but will only send as a sms. I cant receive iMessages either.
My iphone is out of warranty and Im all out of options. If this is a software problem, can I get a replacement iphone through apple as this is obviously not a hardware issue?

I have restored as a new phone and it still doesnt work.
As for creating a new Apple ID, Ive tried that and it doesnt work. It still defaults to my number and it wont allow to send an imessage as it reverts to SMS when I type in a contact in the messages app.
I tried starting new conversations from the Apple ID as well but didnt have any luck.
I believe its something that isnt getting wiped out through the restore process.
I wish I could escalate my issue to someone who could look at the underlying code and see whats wrong with the phone

YouTube doesn't work on my iPhone 4S

When I try using the built-in YouTube app to watch videos, all I get is "this operation could not be completed." When trying to stream videos from YouTube via Safari, the video loads and loads and loads and never starts playing. I'm using WiFi and the signal is great, everything else works and loads fast. Anyone know a solution to this?

I have the same issue, it works for a while then won't work hardly at all. Then start working again. I wish it would just work like it supposed too. I hear it has trouble with wet or clamy hands but mine are rarely like that. I do work outside with my hands and the are kind of tough and callused up. I wonder if that effects it some. I have an iPhone5 bought in late Dec 2012.
I've noticed on rare occassions that the volume down button some times would not respond.
Starting yesterday, the volume down button would not respond more consistently.
Sometimes a reset would fix it, sometimes a reset network would fix it, but the problem would come back.
Came across this thread, and pressing gently on the upper right hand corner fixed it!
I remember seeing some video on Youtube or iFixit that shows how to replace the power button. It appears that the volume buttons and the power buttons are tied in together on the same piece of connector. I supposed taking the iphone in and out of cases may have warped or twisted the connector inside the case ever so slightly that the sensor for the down volume button got shifted.
The down volume button works now, after doing the trick you suggested. I'll wait and see if it comes back before taking it in for warranty repair.

Going to the local Apple store this morning...
My problem is not uncommon as the board is showing signs of this happening to many others as well. That is where I found the restore and reboot information to try to solve the issue of crashing apps.
I understand that Apple will not "give away the cow", but letting iPhone users know that the problems they are having are being addressed by Apple is a little more comforting than nothing at all. Other wise, all the apps in world are useless and even more importantly worthless, if a person has to reset/reboot/reload just to get them to work.
IF Apple can not address the basic problems with todays iPhone apps, why should one believe that the iPhone 3.0 OS is any better? Using a PC comparison, which is better, XP or Vista. If the current iPhone OS of 2.2. what ever is not working that well (as related to down loaded apps and iTunes), will OS 3.0 be any better?

Hi, i have my iMac from 2008 and it's always work but for almost the lasy year youtube doesn't work. That's wasn't a problem but. right by now, everytime i tried to watch a video the mac start to freeze and i must close all the application which are working and, sometimes, i need to shut down the entire sistem. I have another query though. Is it possible to always logged into my Gtalk from iPhone? I am using an app called Gtalk Lite. But every time I double press the home button and swipe up the apps to close them from running in the background Gtalk lite logs me off. I have to log in to Gtalk lite again. I was looking for something like that happens on Android phones. You are always logged in even after you close them from running in the background. And also is it possible to log in to more than one gmail account on Gtalk in iPhone?

YouTube stop working via https after I updated from Firefox 19.0.2 to 20.0.1. But via http it works fine. Also embedded YouTube doesn't work on sites that use src=https:// and works on that use src=http:// ones. Everything working fine as I roll back to 19.0.2 and stop working after re-update.
I've tested the Safe Mode — the same effect, doesn't help.

I've got a blackberry curve 8250 + youtube doesn't work on it at all. The video will load then the screen will just go black and nothing happens. I've tried the youtube app + the mobile youtube + the same thing happens.
