YouTube HD videos not playing - SD videos fine.

Hi,
I have the latest version of Adobe Flash and have tried Firefox, Chrome and IE. All latest versions. All three play SD videos on YouTube with no problems but HD videos crash on start and give error messages.
I have tried....
The beta release.
Full uninstall (including Flash folder cache) & reinstall current release.
The Real Player setting change.
Disabling hardware acceleration in FF.
I'm using W7 and previously was able to play HD videos with no problem at all.
Can anyone give me any pointers as towhat sort of problem would cause problems only with HD videos?
Thanks
Paul

I may have traced this to a registry cleanup I did with C Cleaner  a few days ago. Weird because I have used this before with no issues. Anyway I now have HD videos working fine.
If anyone out there knows of any registry entries that could cause this behaviour when deleted, I'd be grateful if you would let me know.
Otherwise I might just leave the registry alone for a bit.

    What should I do?

There are some compatibility issues between the latest Flash player and some Firefox add-ons or settings.

  • Videos (i.e. Youtube, etc.) Not playing.

I have read several posts about how Safari 3.1.1. is not playing videos on Youtube and such.I am also experiencing this problem, and I have tried EVERYTHING suggested in previous forums, such as simply "downloading the plugin."
I have downloaded almost every plugin suggested nearly 10 times, and none is working.
A real solution would be helpful. I am a new Safari user, and Apple made it sound like it was simply "amazing" and ready to go, but now I am highly regretting this browser. It has been such a problem just to watch simple videos.
    Answers?

ok so i know alot of people are having problems with watching videos on safari on vista, i know your pain, and all these responses are not helping, make sure this is enabled, just download the plug in, blah blah blah. the funny thing is, all you have to do is download the plug in. When you try to do it with safari it won't work right, it says it can't because safari is open, EVEN THOUGH ITS NOT!!!
    Here is what you do!!!
Close out Safari, open Internet Explorer, go to http://www.apple.com/safari/download/plugins.html
Download the plug in from here and there it is, VIDEO'S!!!! YAY!!!! YOU ARE VERY WELCOME!!!

  • Help please: youtube vids do not play.

I use a MAC with OSX 10.5.8, with Adobe Flash Player 10.3.183.10. Your upgrade info implies I need MAC OSX 10.6 minimum to upgrade Flash Player version. Problem only occurred last weekend. Grateful for suggestions.

Flash Player 10.3.183.90 (Mac only)  is the last version that will work with your OS.  THAT's the bad news.
If your Mac is an Intel, the GOOD news is that you can upgrade to OS 10.6 through Apple for just $19.99. That will open up a whole world of possibilities as far as software is concerned.
If your Mac is PPC, I'm afraid you've just about reached the end of the line for software eand updates.

  • Online video clips do not play correctly on all browsers

I am unable to play video clips at the right speed without them stalling and stuttering. For example, a typical YouTube clip will not play correctly, so the video will stutter and the sound won't play in time with the video.
This is especially frustrating when wanting to play music video clips as the song will stutter. This happens regardless of browser - Firefox, Safari or Netscape.
I have a broadband Internet connection but wonder whether I need to adjust speed settings somewhere so sound and music play correctly.
I have no problems playing songs via iTunes or watching video clips using Quicktime, it's just the embedded video clips on YouTube etc that won't play correctly.
    Any advice much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Rob

Flash video is very CPU intensive, open activity monitor and look at your CPU usage while trying to watch a YouTube video, no doubt it is at 100%.
Unfortunately there isn't much you can do about this - my 400 Mhz G3 can't handle flash video and by the look of some previous posts on the forum I'd be surprised if any can .

  • When I try to play youtube video I get the message of blocked plug-in, and I can not play video using Safari. (Youtube works fine with google chrome) I tried installing flash player HTML5 etc... but still no difference.

I just installed OSX Mountian Lion, and ever since then I can not play youtube video's. I get the message of 'Blocked Plug-in' in the youtube screen. I have tried installing Adobe Flash Player. HTML 5, also tried enabling/disabling java, but nothing worked out. Is there any way I can play youtbe vieos on Safar. (It works fine with Google Chrmoe, only safari has problem)

If you have the ClickToFlash extension installed, that can prevent Flash based video from streaming. Safari > Preferences > Extensions
It can also be installed as a plugin in /Library/Internet-Plug-Ins.
Try uninstalling the currently installled Flash plugin (required for most YouTube content) then reinstall new >  Troubleshoot Flash Player | Mac OS
From your Safari menu bar top of your screen click Safari > Preferences then select the Advanced tab.
Select:  Show Develop menu in menu bar
Now from the menu bar click Develop > Empty Caches

Try running these songs through MP3 Validator to see if there any issues.

  • Some videos on YouTube will not play

As of a few days ago some of the videos on YouTube will not play I tried IE(I stopped using after it ask for an update) ,but then I had to use google chome and I hate it, but the videos played. Its not every video, and some times it's the same video I just played not to long ago. I fear that soon I might not be able to view most videos on YouTube. I cleared my cache, made sure everything it up-to-date, although Silverlight-plugin will not update, no matter what I try to do( I hope that is not the reason, because Silverlight won't up-date.) I'm am not sure when this problem first arose, at first I though it was Google/YouTube having issues, but it seems like Google's browser works fine on the videos that do not play on Firefox. What can I do, I need Firefox to work, I can't bare to move to another browser.

    A few other thoughts:
    (1) For a video where this happens, does the problem persist if you try reloading a few times using Ctrl+Shift+r?
    (2) Is there any difference in how you connect to Youtube between your browsers? You can check Firefox's connection setting here:
"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced > Network mini-tab > "Settings" button
The default is "Use system proxy settings" but you also could try "No proxy".
    (3) Have you received any SSL-related errors, such as pages reporting a certificate problem and requiring you to make an exception, or missing styles or functionality on secure sites?
    (4) If you opted in to the html5 player, is there a pattern of the problem videos being in one format or the other (HTML5 player vs. Flash player)? https://www.youtube.com/html5

  • Youtube videos are not playing back

Youtube videos are not playing back in Safari 5.1.7. I've also checked this in Firefox 16.0.2.
    I am running OS 10.6.8.
Why is this happening? I need this capabilitiy for my work efforts.
    Thanks (in advance)!

I'm having similar problems to you all.  Chrome and Firefox will play YT videos back perfectly.  But for some reason certain users' entire channels that were working fine in Safari on Thhursday 1st Nov 2012 had stopped working by the next day!  After upgrading Flash and resetting the cache etc it was a bit better but still some not working.  I then downloaded the 6.0.2 update (again after a bit of aggro as some error message kept popping up, then after a while it worked ok).  Now still some videos refuse to play in Safari.  Latest FF browser seems OK and not too slow.  I have always liked Safari though and am a bit annoyed that I've had to to make FF my default as it's a bit ugly.  It may be a YT problem rather than Apple.  Once upon a time in the hazy crazy days of Tiger and Leopard I had no Apple problems.  Now lots of very minor but basic issues keep popping up!

  • Youtube videos do not play properly

I appreciate any suggestions with this problem. I have a Mac G4 laptop (PowerPC) running OS 10.4
Most web videos do not play properly on my computer, especially if they use Adobe Flash Player. (QuickTime videos play fine.)
I have had my internet connections checked by my provider, and the speed is very good, and the configuration is OK, so they do not understand why I am having trouble. When I try to play YouTube videos, I get a slideshow, with a new frame every 2 or 3 seconds. I have tried using my computer on my friend's internet connection, and it has the same problem. My friend can watch the same YouTube video perfectly well on his own computer, even though his download speed is much slower than mine.
I have already tried the following fixes several times:
complete uninstall of old versions of Flash Player
reinstall of the latest version of Flash Player. (My computer does recognize that the player is there, as I said, it just plays the video as a slideshow.)
    Repairing permissions and restarting
resetting Safari, manually clearing cache, cookies, etc. (Although I also have the same problem in Firefox)
    Downgrading to Flash Player 9
    Trashing QuickTime Plugin.webplugin
Trying to trash all DivX files (I don't have any, it turns out)
making sure audio midi settings are for 44.1
    trashing the Macromedia preferences folder
None of these things have helped me. Thank you in advance for any other ideas of things to try.

    Rogerskth,
Sorry, I wasn't clear. My computer NEVER played flash videos properly, with any version of Flash. Considering that Flash is maxxing out my CPU power (as measured by the Activity Meter) I suppose that slow CPU speed really IS the cause of my problem. Since you have a faster computer, and your computer used to play the videos OK, it seems likely that your problem is SOME OTHER mysterious problem.
    Bungee33,
You might be pleased to know that in English we have the same expression as the German which you quoted
"we in Germany say, that a horse given as a present must not be critizised  by judging the teeth in the mouth of the animal"
In English, we say "don't look a gift horse in the mouth."

  • YouTube videos do not play

    Hi All,
Before I pull the plug on FireFox, I'll try once more. YouTube Videos do not play. They start then stop with the cryptic error message "An error has occurred.... Other videos play fine. YouTube videos play fine on that other browser. I've tried all the suggestions in this forum, my PlugIns were uninstalled and re-installed, Firefox was uninstalled and re-installed and No, I do not live in India. Anybody have any idea what's wrong. What's Google doing that Mozilla can't figure out?

Do you have the latest version of Flash Player? Download Flash Player at get.adobe.com/flashplayer and install it. Also, is your internet slow? Try changing your quality on the video to low when the video starts to see if it does the same thing.

  • Flash player 11.8 does not play YouTube video Windows 7 Enterprise

Since I spent days troubleshooting this, I thought I might save others the same.
    Environment:
windows 7 enterprise 32 bit (System meets requirements for flash player)
Workstation part of an AD Domain
    Occurs on all workstations
Using a proxy to access the internet (this is not the problem as chrome works fine and HTML5 works fine)
    Flash Player 11.8
    Browsers: IE 8, IE9, IE10, FireFox, Chrome
    Chrome plays videos fine
HTML5 Player plays fine in all browsers
IE8, 9, and 10 do not play videos; it starts to play then loops then dies with youtube error message
FireFox does not play youtube videos same as IE
I tried all solutions found on the internet, adjusting browser settings or uninstalling and reinstalling flash none of it worked.
    solution down grade flash player

    "Chrome plays videos fine
HTML5 Player plays fine in all browsers"
Chrome has its own embedded Flash Player - the installed version DOESN'T affect it.
    HTML5 DOESN'T use Flash (It's MP4 or webm)
Download the Flash Player uninstaller. Flash Player uninstaller
Download the Adobe Flash Player installer directly by clicking the following links.
Flash Player for ActiveX (Internet Explorer)
Flash Player Plug-in (All other browsers)
    SAVE all files.
    On each workstation:
Run the uninstaller to remove both ActiveX and regular Flash Player.
Reboot and then run the installers to replace both plugins.

My iPad will not play sounds on certain applications. ie: if I click on a video from FB sound will not play. If I go to YouTube and play the same video sound will play. Also certain games will no longer play sounds. They always played sounds but now won't now. I just went to my churches web site to watch live service and again no sound. I grabbed my dads iPad and the sound works fine.

If you lose sounds for keyboard clicks, games or other apps, email notifications and other notifications, system sounds may have been muted.
System sounds can be muted and controlled two different ways. The screen lock rotation can be controlled in the same manner as well.
Settings>General>Use Side Switch to: Mute System sounds. If this option is selected, the switch on the side of the iPad above the volume rocker will mute system sounds.
If you choose Lock Screen Rotation, then the switch locks the screen. If the screen is locked, you will see a lock icon in the upper right corner next to the battery indicator gauge.
If you have the side switch set to lock screen rotation then the system sound control is in the task bar. Double tap the home button and in the task bar at the bottom, swipe all the way to the right. The speaker icon is all the way to the left. Tap on it and system sounds will return.
If you have the side switch set to mute system sounds, then the screen lock rotation can be accessed via the task bar in the same manner as described above.
This support article from Apple explains how the side switch works.
