Youtube HD videos will not play since the 60FPS update

Any video that someone has released using the new youtube 60fps rendering support no longer plays for me. I can watch some HD videos that people are still releasing at 30fps but those that are released at 60FPS just endlessly buffer. I've cleared my Chache and it's still the same. Am I stuck watching in 480p or what's going on?

Please don't shout (no need for all caps in your title). Download and install the 10.5.8 COMBO update, repair permissions, and restart. Additionally, ensure you're running the latest QuickTime update 7.6.4 and Flip4Mac components 2,2,3,7.

For some reason, I have quite a few videos that do not play in the public site while other videos play just fine. When selecting a video, the player opens but the video never starts.
Any ideas?

When I try to play certain songs, it will not play the song and skip to the next song selection. When I try to play certain videos, the message "This movie could not be played" appears. I contacted a tech spec who said it was possibly a format problem. How do i fix this?

This might sound weird, but here's an idea which worked for me re music that was newly added to itunes and showed up in my ipod but wouldn't play - I simply played the tracks in itunes first, just a second of time or so will do it, not the whole track, then connect the ipod and sync again and this time they played - hope this helps.

When I go to Youtube, certain videos will not play now. This only happened after I downloaded firefox 4. I tested all of the plugins like the troubleshooting page recommended, but still nothing. Any help would be nice. Thanks.

If I try to play a certain person's vevo videos for example they won't play. Other videos posted by people will play, but it seems like if it is an official page by whoever (Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, etc) they won't play and I have no idea why.

It seems to be any videos that have an ad that play before them won't start. I'm thinking it may be an issue related to Flash.

Hello. I have AV player hd. When I touch and hold the Quicktime icon that is in a received mail message, a prompt comes up "Open in AVPlayerHD". I click on that and a black screen opens up with the following on it:
1--A red line at the top with a short white slider button on the right hand side. There is a time listed at each end of the red line that says 00:00
2--On the left hand side of the screen, near the middle, there are 4 icons, a colored 'x', a dialogue icon, a circular arrow and an 'i' in a circle.
3--On the right hand side there is a + and a - sign with '1.00x' in the middle of the two.
4--At the bottom of the black screen is a play icon plus forward and fast forward icons.
When I press the play icon it changes to a stop icon.
So, even though I have AV player I cannot play this Quicktime slideshow.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I am not too computer literate..............
I took some videos of my daughter and went to view them on my computer (pc) and they will not play. The computer recongnizes them as quicktime files (.MOV) but when they are selected for playback, the screen is black and all that plays is the audio. I downloaded the latest quicktime pro at $30.00 and the problem still exsists. The video was taken on an iPhone 4s with the iOS6 updated software.
What is the problem? What is the fix?

Disable Direct3D acceleration in the player you are using.
If you use VLC media player, Go to preferences, Video, And under output, change from default to "Direct 2D video output"
If you use Quicktime, Downgrade to Quicktime 7.6 or upgrade to quicktime 7.7.3 and Go to
Edit --> Preferences -->Quicktime preferences.
Under that, go to advanced tab, and uncheck "Enable Direct3d acceleration" (3'rd box)
Fixed the problem for me

I failed to mention that the sound does play on the videos that are not playing.

Certain music videos will not play in iTunes. The music plays fine but not the video. No picture.

Regular playlists vs smart playlist does not make a difference. What I noticed is that some videos create this behavior and some not. I created 2 videos and 2 music playlists, one with 2 songs and 2 videos (that I encoded myself with Handbrake). Another list with 2 videos and 2 songs, videos encoded with Handbrake, but that I noticed they triggered the behavior. The first playlist played fine, with no problems. The second one, created the problem. When I look at the video, it is the same type of video (bit rate, audio channels, etc...) I don't see why it would do that.
Later I will test: playing those videos in question and then selecting songs to see if they play.

Certain website's videos will not play, MLB and Jay Leno's garage. Why?

Not sure when this started to happen - perhaps the last update but now the Baseball website and the Jay Leno's garage website's video will not play. They appear to go to sleep while loading. (The little circle goes round and round but never stops.) Other sites seem to work fine.

Try these steps, taking the next one if a previous one didn't help:

ITunes videos will not play

Ever since I've updated to the newer iTunes version, my videos will not play correctly. Any video I bought on iTunes will not work. Also any video previews or trailers from iTunes will not work. Any other video from online or ones that I've recorded work normally. When I try to play a video, this is what it looks like:
The picture does not show, but the audio plays perfectly. Quicktime and every other software is updated. I've tried to find the answer on the forums but couldn't find one similar to my problem. Also, I cannot contact any apple support by phone because I'm currently living in China and this or e-mail is the most conveinent.

If you are still having video playback issues in iTunes, you may want to try the following user isolation troubleshooting to see if the issue can be localized to either a user or a system level cause.
