Youtube HTML snippet issue

Hello:
When I embed an HTML web snippet into my iWeb site it works once then does not return to the original video, it stays on the grouping page not the individual youtube link that is originally selected.
Sorry if I'm not making my self clear but I don't know how to otherwise explain this.
Thanks
Rick

Post the URL to your site so we can examine it first hand. Are you publishing to MobileMe or another hosting service?

  • My html snippet has only worked for 2 minutes in three months.

    Warning: Long, descriptive story up ahead.
    I bought my macbook pro complete with iLife 08 bundle software in January and eventually I became a little bit more advanced so I wanted to try using "html snippets" in iWeb.
    That's when I discovered it was not working on my iWeb. (I have the latest version of iWeb 08 possible). Also, this is of less concern but my navigation menu is not displaying either-- meaning on the face of my webpages the individual Page Titles are not displaying "Main", "About Me" when I choose "display navigation menu" option from the inspector-- all I get is a big stupid empty space. And yes, I have all the options check to "display this page in my navigation menu" or some such.
    So I drove over to an applestore (which took a whole freaking day of my time) and they opened up software updates in the store. This was around the whole MobileMe thing, so I got that upgrade too. And magically my iWeb's html snippets started working for the first time ever! I almost cried, but let's face it, there are more beautiful and spectacular things in life worth my tears of joy. Anyway, I indeed was really happy because I thought this was going to be the beginning of me being able to html snippet youtube videos directly onto my site and do other such amazing things!
    Then today when I got home, I'm back to the same stupid non-working html snippet feature again!!!!
    I can describe the html snippet issue a little bit: In my non-working html snippet version, a little transparent box appears when I try and open up html snippets... in this little box I can't type anything. How iWeb should work is that this black box should appear where you can type in your code and then a separate little box below the black one works on displaying what you coded.
    One maybe important thing I noticed is that... You know how when you open up iWeb, in the left column by your sites there are/were those blue globe .mac picture? Well, after the MobileMe upgrade in the store (just yesterday actually on the 27th), those blue globes turned into blue squares with white clouds. So I think the conversion from .mac to MobileMe helped fixed my bugs? Because today my html snippets doesn't work again and I'm back to the .mac blue globes. I want those little blue squares with white clouds again if it will fix my issue!!
    HELP, please. Thanks!

    I would look at several things. I'm assuming it shows fully charged after you charge it and that this is a new iphone and not used. Check your location services under Privacy: Location Services for apps that use your location. If you have apps always checking your location it can use power. Turn off any you don't really need. You can always turn them back on.
    Check you wifi settings. Turn off the " Ask to join other Networks". If you are driving down the road it will be looking for other networks to join.
    Turn off any apps running in the background that are not needed.
    Restart your iPhone after you have done this. Hopefully this will improve your battery usage.

  • Youtube Video in iWeb "html Snippet" is Blank?

    The html Snippet Widget shows an unhappy face icon when I publish the site to the internet in preview form. In iWeb itself the video shows up as a blank box on my site when I load the "embed" text from the Youtube video into the black box window and hit "apply".
    Here is the Youtube Embed text if it helps to analyze it. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/GdC9WLhUum0?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
    I can successfully load the Youtube Widget but I dislike the 4 x 3 format with excessively large top/bottom black bands and control bar. I prefer the 16 x 9 format of the html Snippet, but it needs to function.
    Help please.
    Dan

    Okay, it is simple.  The video will not work because there are mistakes in the code that you have posted - if the code is incorrect then it won't work.
    Where you have src="//www.youtube.com/embed, the code should in fact be as follows:
    src="http://www.youtube.com/embed
    I have just opened iWeb on my Mac and copied and pasted the code, but then changing it to http:// and the video works perfectly - comes up with someone in a canoe and is entitled River Discipline.

  • HTML Snippet does not exist as a Widget option in iWeb 09

    I have iWeb 09 on my machine. I'm trying to insert an HTML Snippet onto a page so i can drop in the code for a XSPF player.
    When i choose "Show Media", under Widgets there are only four, and HTML Snippet isn't one of them. I only have:
    MobileMe Gallery
    Google AdSense
    iSight Photo
    iSight Movie
    I also don't have the YouTube widget, the Google Map Widget--these i only know about by looking in support and seeing that these should all be there.
    Any thoughts as to how i can get HTML Snippet available in my media widgets? My site is almost completed and ready to publish. Without this feature it will be pointless to publish at all.
    Many thanks for any suggestions!
    Peter

    Can you post the code you are using so that we can see what the problem is?

  • HTML Snippet was working on iWeb 08 but not now on iWeb 09

    Having upgraded to iWeb 09 from iWeb 08, suddenly I am unable to upload slideshows using a third party program called "SlideShowPro for Lightroom" successfully. They embed in iWeb fine but once they export they do not show up online. So, in short the slideshow shows up online but do not show up embedded onto the final iWeb page.
    Link to unembedded slideshow (which works fine)...
    http://www.jonnyback.com/lightroom_slideshows/markandemma/loader.swf
    Link to website without slideshow showing up...
    http://www.jonnyback.com/markandemma3
    Code used to embed slideshow in HTML Snippet inside of iWeb 09 (which previsouly worked in iWeb 08)
    http://www.jonnyback.com/markandemma3code
    Finally, here is a screen grab of iWeb09 showing my site and how the slideshow is fine in iWeb but isn't once it is exported...
    http://www.jonnyback.com/downloads/iWeb_Screenshot.jpg
    Here is an example of a page which I uploaded from iWeb 08, and it works fine, but only because I exported it to a folder whilst I was still using iWeb 08...
    http://www.jonnyback.com/mattandanna
    The Slideshow also shows up here fine...
    http://www.jonnyback.com/markandemma3files/widget0markup.html
    And iWeb can not get a native iWeb Photo Gallery loading online in a similar way, it just doesn't show up online either...
    http://www.jonnyback.com/markandemma2iwebphoto
    I've tried loading the page on a different server with the same issue, the Slideshow Pro gallery just does not show.
    Any advice would be greatly appreciated,
    Jonny

    Thank you Roddy, I have done my homework but it isn't wokring yet.
    In the iWeb native Photo Gallery page, I have come up with the scenario again where it works in a subfolder...
    http://www.jonnyback.com/Site/markandemma2iwebphototest.html
    But not on the normal website domain...
    http://www.jonnyback.com/markandemma2iwebphototest.html
    As a check I did find out that the Slideshow still doesn't work with the subfolder "/Site" scenario...
    http://www.jonnyback.com/Site/markandemma3
    How bizarre!
    Any ideas?

  • HTML snippet height problem in all browsers but Safari

    hi i'm trying to embed Vimeo in my webpage using HTML snippet. i thought it was working fine until i found out that in other browsers than Safari the movie is cut off at about 120 pixels..
    i did some testing and now i find that whatever HTML code i try to publish using HTML snippet looks
    cut off ! no matter what the height settings are, and believe me i tried everything, and all sorts of code..
    this is such a mayor bug, i cant understand why i cant find other people with this issue??
    using IWEB 09 last version..
    please have a look at this:
    http://www.geertmul.nl/Geert_Mul/LibraryOfBabel.html
    with both Safari and Firefox.
    see what i mean..??
    thanx for a reply !

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions. I've experienced something similar. Here's how I fixed it. After using the apply button I clicked and dragged the snippet lower border down a long way. Don't worry if it overlaps other items. After dragging DONOT hit the apply button again. Just do a Publish Site Changes and try the page in Firefox again. Be sure to clear the browser's cache so you don't view the previous version of the page.
    NOTE: you might change the caption lines from 2 to 3 in your album pages as a couple of the albums are requiring a 3rd line and it's partially cut off. Also the image for the Split Representation Prints album is giving an error. The link works but the album doesn't have a photo in it.

  • IWeb HTML snippet doesn't work hosted outside MobileMe

    Hi
    I created a site with iWeb and used to HTML snippets.
    When I publish the site on MobileMe all works fine
    When I publish the site with my Dutch Web hosting company, those HTML components won't work.
    The vistor to the page finds a error message instead of the HTML widget:
    Not Found
    The requested URL /test/Welkom_files/widget3_markup.html was not found on this server.
    Apache/2.0.52 (Red Hat) Server at www.knipdoor.nl Port 80
    Does anyone know what's wrong and how to solve the issue?
    Look forward
    Henk, NL

    Does anyone know what's wrong and how to solve the issue?
    It's clearly written :
    The requested URL /test/Welkom_files/widget3_markup.html was not found on this server.
    So go to your server and see if it's really missing.
    And if you added/deleted/changed HTML Snippets, iWeb creates new widget-markup files with new sequence numbers. When you load the webpage, some widget-markup files might not be present anymore because of these changes.
    Clear the cache of the browser and reload the webpage.

  • IWeb HTML Snippet--Facebook Badge

    I've had a Facebook HTML Snippet on my iWeb home page for over a year and suddenly this week, it quit working. I just see the outline box with a question mark in the middle now. I tried deleting the snippet an republishing it several times. I've repasted the HTML code from Facebook several times into the box. When I click on APPLY, it just doesn't work anymore. I've tried several of the Facebook snippets, and none of them work either. Wonder what's changed?

  • Can't edit HTML snippets

    Hello there,
    This is around the third time I ask about this issue. I installed Leopard with iLife '08, and later (after I started having the problem) installed iLife '09.
    What happens is, when I try to add an HTML snippet, I am presented with a blank box with a white outline, which I cannot alter in any way, save for moving and resizing it. Also, I cannot edit the HTML snippets I added before I had this problem. And finally, the dynamic preview of my blog merely displays the same blank box I described above. This happens in both iWeb '08 and iWeb '09.
    The problem arose after I started poking around in folders such as /Library, /System/Library, and /Users/Sean/Library (I'm not exactly sure, as this was around four months ago). The thing is, I opened iWeb again nearly a week after, so I'm not completely certain there is a correlation, although I consider this the most likely culprit.
    Please don't tell me to edit or delete .plist files, as this has no effect. Nor does creating a new /Users/Sean/Library/Application Support/iWeb/Domain work (which, oddly enough, I thought did, but it was after a Leopard reinstall).
    I would really appreciate if you speculated on which file I need to restore (try adding an HTML snippet in a working iWeb, while running Activity Monitor, and browsing the files it uses?), and I can restore it using Pacifist (http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/12743) and my Leopard install DVD. By the way, is it safe to do this, now that I have iWeb '09 installed? I would imagine, since upgrading didn't fix the issue, but I can't be certain...
    Thank you so much for putting up with this,
    SeanDaBomb

    Try Troubleshooting 101: delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iWeb.plist, repair disk permissions, reboot and try again.
    If that doesn't help log into another account on your Mac, open iWeb, create a test site and see if you can use the snippets there as intended. If not then a reinstall of iWeb seems warranted. To do so you'll have to delete the current application and all files with "iWeb" in the file name that reside in the HD/Library/Receipts folder.
    If the snippets are able to be used correctly in the other account then there's something in your account that is amiss. Post back with the results.

  • HTML Snippet Resizing Box Problem

    Hey guys, hope someone can shed some light on this incredibly irritating issue that i've been struggling with for ages.
    I've got a javascript for generating a random quote out of a preset list (10) into a HTML snippet box on my site.
    The problem that I can't cure is that each quote, depending on its length makes the html box resize around it, so it sometimes covers some of the existing text.
    What I want is for the generated text to fit itself into whatever box size I choose.
    Any ideas??
    <CENTER>
    <SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript"> <!-- Distributed by <a class="jive-link-external-small" href="http://www.hypergurl.com">http://www.hypergurl.com</a>

    to a man is like money in the bank." quote[1]="God loved the birds and

    randscript = parseInt(Math.random()*(howMany+1)) } return randscript } quo = rndnumber()
    quox = quote[quo] document.write(quox) // End Script--> </SCRIPT> </CENTER>

    Hiya Old Toad, thanks for the reply.
    Sorry it took me so long to get back to you, things just keep coming up!
    Ok so ,if I try to resize the box, it goes widthways rather than lengthways and therefore covers all the text next to it.
    If I add the
    tags, it just breaks it completely and nothing shows up.
    Also looks like I copied the wrong script when I posted here originally, I had it in a notepad file but I must have opened the wrong one, sorry!
    Attached is the actual script from the site,
    Thanks again for all your help!
    <center>
    <resizeable=false>
    <script language="JavaScript">
    var howMany = 6
    var quote = new Array(howMany+1)
    quote[0]="'The teacher motivates children in a fun way'"
    quote[1]="'Very friendly, fun and hard working class - with an excellent teacher'"
    quote[2]="'It's a good way to keep all ages off the streets and meeting new people in a friendly environment'"
    quote[3]="'The class is good, giving kids a fun and enjoyable time. The teacher is funny and, also has a good way of handling the class'"
    quote[4]="'The class teaches good discipline whilst still having fun'"
    quote[5]="'Discipline, respect, enjoyment and fun. All key factors put across by a very good teacher'"
    quote[6]="'The class teacher is good and disciplined. It has taught my child to come out of her shell'"
    quote[7]="'The class makes learning fun whilst still teaching the students the important lessons needed to progress'"
    function rndnumber(){
    var randscript = -1
    while (randscript < 0 || randscript > howMany || isNaN(randscript)){
    randscript = parseInt(Math.random()*(howMany+1))
    return randscript
    quo = rndnumber()
    quox = quote[quo]
    document.write(quox)
    // End -->
    </script>
    Gah that last "quo" is meant to have [ 's around it but they dissapear for some reason on here.

  • IWeb: Twitter HTML Snippets Don't Work

    For several months, I've used iWeb (most up-to-date version) to host my personal website. It is jonathankeilholz.com. This morning, I realized that my Twitter snippets were no longer showing - neither when in preview nor when published. The YouTube ones work, but the Twitter ones do not.
    The first time I noticed it was yesterday (11 June 2013). I tried multiple times to copy and paste the Twitter widget HTML codes and other options. Nothing worked.
    Any thoughts? Thanks!
    Jonathan

    Hello,
    I used the HTML code from Twitter's website. I'm still not having any luck.
    When I copy and paste the HTML snippet, the result is a blue hyperlink that says "Tweets by JDKeilholz."
    UPDATE: I tried other widgets and it seems the same thing is happening regardless of it being from Twitter.
    Bizarre!

  • Google calendar as HTML snippet

    I'm trying to embed my Google calendar to my site. It worked once, and then suddenly it stopped working. Now when anyone visits my website they see only a "sign in to Google calendar" window instead of my personal calendar.
    I used an HTML snippet to do this, and I went into "calendar settings" in Google to grab the HTML code. Copied and pasted it. Like I said, it worked for a few days and now I can't make it work again no matter how many times I delete and re-insert the snippet.
    Very very very frustrating.

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions. I'm having the same issue with my Google calendar in this demo page: Google calendar. It was working the last time I checked it so it has to be something haywire at Google's end.
    My page is loading very, very slowly today pointing the finger at MMe. My iCal calendar is also not loading which fixes the culprit as MMe. I'm not surprised.

  • Can you embed HTML snippets into Reflow?

    Is this possible to do...ie a youtube video or even some other embeddable element?

    Currently, Reflow only supports boxes (divs), text and images. We're planning on adding more elements in the near future, although HTML snippets aren't going to be there for a while.

  • Create custom navbar w/ rollovers. html snippet Help!

    I'm having issues creating a custom nav w/ rollovers in iweb 08 using the html snippet function. I've basically created 5 rollover buttons in PS (they are .png files) side by side to create a top navbar using this code Seen here. http://web.mac.com/catucker/InsideOutside/Rollover.html.
    The nav works ok in safari, not at all in IE and very strange in FF. You can go to my website to test yourself. www.tuned2b.com
    Is there a better way to achieve this design?
    Thanks Community.

    In the link the > is missing
    +<a href="http://tuned2b.com/pictures.html"+
    Correct it and see if it works.
    Also, add target="_top", otherwise the linked page is displayed in the button area.
    +<a href="http://tuned2b.com/pictures.html" target="_top">+
    It's all in the details.
