YouTube links in email won't play

My wife took her brand new iPad on a trip this week. While she was away I emailed her links to some YouTube videos of the kids I had uploaded. The videos play with no problem when we click the link in her email on a "regular" computer, but clicking the link through the iPad's Mail program results in a "YouTube Not Available" message.
That's pretty discouraging given that we just got the thing home! What's up?

we have the beautiful Youtube app on our devises, which is specialy build for the iPad, because the flash based Youtube side doesn't work on this devise.
When you just surf to youtube.com, you'll be redirected to a mobile version of the side and will be able to play the videos. but the links you are receiving are found on the regular site, so the link leads you to the normal site, which doesn't work on your device.
Pitty, get used to it is the remedy.
I'll guess it won't take very long untill youtube changes to HTML5 just like Vimeo, than you will be able to see such links.

Hi everyone, I have Snow Leopard 10.6.8. I have been very very frustrated by this problem. [I could not create new windows, and anything that opens new windows, such as trying to see what Add-ons you have etc would not work]. I read about changing screen alignment to the top... I have one screen so the option does not exist. The above messages would not fix this problem. I searched hard and did find a solution in the end. I read stuff about removing Add-ons until the problem is fixed, but its simply not the case.
First of all open Firefox. next go to options: Help --- 'Restart with Add-ons disabled'. Tick the box for add-ons, restart firefox. Next go to Tools --- Add-ons. Next (In the Add-ons Manager' click on 'Plugins' on the left hand side pane. Look for the small blue writing that says 'Check to see if your plugins are up to date'.
Now notice it should say 'Missing Flash'. "For your safety, Firefox has disabled your outdated version of Flash. Please upgrade to the latest version". I followed this, reinstalled Flash and it now works as it always did, no problems. For people where the above fix didn't work, try this one out. Hope it helps people!

    Links in email won't open

Try a reset: hold down the home button along with the power button until you see the Apple, then let go.

  • YouTube Videos and others won't play on iPad mini after upgrade to iOS 7.0.2, any suggestions?

I upgraded my iPad mini to the iOS 7.0.2 software and now videos (YouTube, USA Today, etc) won't play.  I have already done a restart (holding down the menu button and on button) and eern after restart, videos won't play.  Any suggestions?

when u do a restore it deletes off everything on the device, including software. then it reinstalls the software from a new download package. this will ensure ur device isnt getting the same glitch in its system that ur current software has if that is the issue. when u restore from the backup u made AFTER uve done the 'restore ipad' that will put all of ur stuff back onto the ipad. i would suggest deleting off the youtube app b4 doing the back up and then readding it after the restore and restore from back up phases. if all of that doesnt work, youtube is the one with the problem and u should contact them.

  • Youtube videos/Flash games won't play/freeze browser in Firefox

Ever since I updated to the latest Firefox version I cannot get YouTube videos or Flash games to play. It will load the page and where the video should be it just displays a white space, like the player itself doesn't exist. Youtube when it first loads the page will show the black "video" screen for a split second before disappearing as if it never existed, and then the screen freezes and I have to start the task manager to end the program and restart Firefox. I have refreshed Firefox multiple times, downloaded the latest version of flashplayer and made sure that the plugin is activated to no avail. The funny thing is, is that the videos and games play just fine in Internet Explorer, so it's not a problem with the graphics or hardware on the computer itself.

Tried that solution many times. It had no effect. Here is the event log:

  • Links in email won't open. When I click on a link, it goes to open tabs in FF, but the new link doesn't open.

When I get a link sent in an email, the link no longer opens when I click on it. When I click on the link, Firefox and the open internet tabs appear on my screen, but the new link does not open. I must manually copy the link, then paste it in the address bar to get it to open.

I have the same problem with FF 3.6.13, and Mac OS 10.6.5.
Clicking links in Mail opens FF, but does not open the URL. Safari has no problems when I reset it as my default browser. The problem seems to develop over time. At first, links open fine, but then all of a sudden they won't.
My remedy has been to reinstall FF, but I've had to do it twice in the last couple of weeks, which is getting a bit annoying.
I have not experienced the problem on either of my two older Macs (running 10.4, and 10.5).

  • YouTube in N95 Videocenter won't play clips

    Hi!
I've been having this problem for some time now. There are YouTube videos for N95 in the Videocenter but for some reason real can't play them, they just stuck on the loading screen. I'm using WLAN for Videocenter and Real.

    Figures!,
Why wouldn't it work over WLAN?.
I need to email my contacts to see if I can find out more information.

  • Embedded links in emails won't open new window or tab in FF.

Running Mac OS X 10.6.6 and FF Version 3.6.12. I'm using Mail Version 4.4 as my email client and when I try and open an embedded link from an email, the link doesn't open a new tab or window. FF recognizes the link, but doesn't respond with a new tab or window. If I copy and paste the link into the browser the links work fine, so I feel like it's a setting or bug that has been changed somewhere somehow. This problem only happens when I try to click directly from the email. I've tried searching the preferences in both Mail and FF, but can't seem to find anything that fixes the problem. This issue started happening two weeks ago when I did the latest Mac OS X security update. Any thoughts or suggestions?

  • Wav file in email won't play

I got an email with a brief wav file ( telephone message) and they always play on iPhone, but wouldn't play on iPad. Why?

Are you sure you did download the entire message? The built-in media player (QucikTime) should play WAV files and no third-party apps should be required.
    See https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3652515?start=0&tstart=0
Nevertheless, if you in no way can make it work, let me know and I compile a full list of WAV-capable third-party players (there are a lot of them).

  • Links in email won't open

I updated to Firefox 5.0 today. I was reading email in Thunderbird and clicked on a link. Nothing happened, the page did not open. I then tried to right click and select open link in browser. Again, no window opened.
Please help, as properties allowing me to copy paste is not an option, and hunting down a page that I should be able to click and link to is very time intensive!!
    Thanks!

    thanks for replying!
I actually did have firefox open when clicking the links when I wrote about the issue I was having. However, the issue seems to have corrected itself, so YAY! I can't remember now if I rebooted before I asked for help, but I suspect I did not, and that was the solution; the next time I turned on my computer, it worked correctly.

  • Youtubes are black and won't play-loses all my tabs and app pins sometimes

    Hi,
Recently after the last update my youtubes anyway will not play, they are just a black square?
I've tried reloading FF 6.01 removing cookies from Youtube...nothing!
Also some times FF loses all my pinned tabs and reg tabs. This is VERY ANNOYING!

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

  • Mpe file from email won't play in realplayer or quicktime

    12-10-05
realplayer (10.0.0 v331) sayz "RealPlayer cannot play this media file with the installed version of Quicktime".
quicktime (version 7.0.3, Player Version 7.0.3) sayz "Alert. Quicktime cannot open the file: xyz.mpe it is not a file that Quicktime understands (-2048).
I've set "open with" via "get info" and set preferences in both realplayer and quicktime to no avail. (I don't find "mpe" referenced in the mime types in quicktime preferences). Nothing in the logs.
All this on my eMac Mac OS X 10.3.9 with the mpe file dragged to the desktop.
    Any thoughts?

Mpegs in WIndows sometimes have a .mpeg extension and for some reason OS X doesn't seem to want to recognize such files are mpegs. Other people with this problem have been able to rename the video with a .mpg extension and then QT and OS X suddenly recognize it as an mpeg. Give it a try.

  • Youtube video uploads but won't play

I uploaded three videos fromYoutube using 'insert HTML' option on my Muse site and at first they played fine until I uploaded the fourth one. Now when I click the play buttons, nothing. Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

A URL to the page would be helpful in identifying the issue.
    Thanks,
