Youtube Login issue Apple TV 2

Hi everyone spent the last day resolving cant login into Youtube Apple TV 2 but finally resolved it for me. Yes use your Gmail account email address as username and if you have 2 step verification on in Google you need to get the pasword from Google Accounts / Security / 2 step verificaton Edit / might ask to login again / than Manage application specific passwords , [in the centre of the page] / Than Step 1 of 2 generate new application-specific password / Name it Apple TV and use this password to login into Youtube on Apple TV. Its a whole lot of letters. Worked well happy I was finally able to resolve the problem. Trevor

There as been an issue with the update servers for a while now, all I suggest you can do is keep trying.

I can't use my google and youtube account via login to youtube on my Apple TV, but same login works from my iPhone and computer so username and password is correct.

For a couple of days I've been unable to login to youtube from my apple tv 3 and ipad's youtube app. Thought it was because of the Google's two step verification but by turning it on and using the generated app passwords the outcome was still the same - incorrect username or password. Although the 2-step verification seems to work like a charm with Mail app. So I'm thinking to myself that it has to be related only to the Youtube app not my account in general.

for the last 2 days my youtube on my apple TV is acting up anyone having the same issue

Well, the only real issue for me is that often I will be in the middle of my long list of subscriptions and it will just go back to the beginning, or jump around.
Then, for long periods it is fine.
I have found I can stop that by scrolling to the bottom of my list of subscriptions and start from the bottom up.
What issue are you having problems with?

Issues with new Youtube update on Apple Tv and playlists

Has anyone else noticed that with the new update to Youtube on the Apple TV that playlists seem to be capped at 20 videos with no option to 'load more'. I saw a "load more' option briefly on the Apple TV in my bedroom but it quickly disappeared. The issue also seems to extend to simply loading more videos on a channels page beyond 20.

yeah i encountered that.
workaround is to create additional youtube playlist.
also, when a search in youtube on "my youtube" section, it only displays 20 items only.

Youtube login older device

Having some problems with my Youtube account on my apple tv (1st generation ? bought in 2007), due to new security measures from Google/Youtube :
1st could not login on apple tv, to refresh my account content ( an issue from the beginning in 2007, but solved with logout and log in ), then I found out that google has new security measures denying any log in from unknown devices. Issue solved by changing security google settings in my computer (reducing security to accept unknown devices).
But today was trying to log in again for refreshing the content, and after the log in, I cannot see any content of my account in my apple tv.
Also, I see in youtube settings on my computer a new tab for youtube on TV, talking about a code to insert in my device so it can be recognised has a safe device. I suspect this is out of my apple tv's league, since it's an old device.
Can anyone enlighten me ?

ok i got it working..
i logged out and had to create a whole new account not too easy to find an unused user name. then i had to wait for the confirmation email which i confirmed.
now it all up and running just great

YouTube streaming issues

Is anyone else having YouTube streaming issues? I can only get about 5-10 seconds of video to play. Then if I try to restart the video it doesn't play at all. It's been this way for a couple of days now. It doesn't matter which wifi network I'm on either. I read the videos are going through an Apple proxy server so I wonder if the server is having issues since it used to work just fine.
I have a new 8GB 3g touch with about 1.5 GB of free space. All other Internet apps work fine.

I'm hoping you see this Brett, but the login issue has shown up again. My original ID will not longer sign in, it directs me to the create account page. But I already have done this back in 2005. I'm just hoping it is a server side issue. Also if I continue to have this issue, is this the place to go or is there a support area for this.

Login issues with Mobile Theme 50

Hi All,
I have an APEX 4.2 application (Mobile Theme 50) which is running on Oracle 10g and is being accessed via iPads. Whenever you exit out of the application by clicking on the iPad button and go into any other App, Mail, Calendar etc, you are forced back to the login page, rather than allowing the user to continue from where they were . We have other APEX applications using a desktop theme that will happily let you check your mail and when you swap back to Safari your session is still there and you can continue on from the page you were on when you left.
Authentication is a requirement, but I was hoping that once they login and the session hasn't timed out, that they would be free to move about the iPad without having to login again.
Are there any setting or changes that can be made to change this behaviour?

Hi Mahmoud, sorry I haven't had time to build a sample app, I might be able to knock up a sample this evening.
This appears to be an iPad specif problem. Tested it on a Samsung and it is fine. There is also one other subtle difference on the iPad itself, that is when you save the URL as a bookmark it always opens within Safari so you can open other apps, then go back into the apex app within Safari and your session is happily running. If you save the URL to the Home screen it opens in a full screen mode (with no minimise options) and you cannot jump out of it unless you are ready to login again.
After a bit more Googling I found that in the default Page Template for Theme 50 it has the following Meta Tag in the Header.
<meta name="apple-mobile-web-app-capable" content="yes" />
From what I can gather this will default the application to run in full screen mode.
I made a copy of the page template and removed this tag and it now always runs within Safari. (After removing the link from the iPad home screen and creating a new one....Some odd cache problems seem to happen)
It would be good to have the full screen mode running as it looks neater and obviouly gives you a bit more screen real estate, but removing the meta tags appears to solve the constant login issues....Our users can decide which they prefer.

AD login issues - takes forever!

Is there An alternative workaround for the login issue(takes forever to logon to an AD environment)? Do I have to create an Open Directory master in a subordinate role to the AD server. If so any documentation for that?

HI,
Open Keychain Access (Applications/Utilities) Select Passwords on the left.
Delete your Apple ID keychain.
Relaunch your browser. Login to AD with your user name and password. Click Yes when prompted.
If that didn't help, go to Safari/Preferences - Security. Click: Show Cookies
Delete all Apple cookies and relaunch Safari.
Try again.

What are you trying to use as your payment method, credit card, debit card ... ? Debit cards don't appear to still be accepted in all countries, and even where they are it seems (based on what some people have posted) that not all work.
For a card to have a chance of being accepted it needs to be registered to exactly the same name and address (including format and spacing etc) that you have on your iTunes account, and have been issued by a bank in the country where you and your iTunes account are. If it is then you could check with the card issuer to see if it's them that are declining it, and if not then try contacting iTunes Support (these are user-to-user forums) and see if they know why it's being declined (but you might not be able to use a debit card) : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Account Management
Do you have a different card that you could try ? Or do you get the 'none' option on the payment details screen (that would allow you to download free items) ? YouTube login & linking problems - one possible solution

Rather than add this comment to one of the several topics concerning YouTube login and account linking problems, I'm starting this topic to isolate this particular problem and the solution that worked for me.
* SKIP TO LAST LINE FOR MY SOLUTION ->
The problem I experienced surfaced when I first tried to upload a video to YouTube from my iPhone 4. YouTube would no longer accept my YouTube password. My YouTube account was linked to my gmail.com account. Having read some of the suggestions in other threads, I unlinked the two accounts, but that did not help matters.
I signed out of the YouTube app in order to sign back in, as suggested elsewhere, but then I could no longer sign in to the YouTube app.
So I tried shutting down my iPhone and starting it up again, as was also suggested elsewhere. That didn't help.
So, exasperated, I went to the YouTube site and tried to change my YouTube account password to itself - and therein lay the solution! YouTube told me the password has to be 5 to 20 characters long and my (old) password was only 4 (because I had created my YouTube account long ago before they had that requirement.)
Once I set a new password that was long enough to satisfy this requirement, I was able to login to the YouTube app just fine and everything is working.
* The solution -> MAKE SURE YOUR YouTube PASSWORD IS LONGER THAN 4 CHARACTERS

No, it didn't work. After buying my MacBook Pro I updated everything including QT. As a result QT 7.2 simply didn't play any of my divx avi files. Before adopting the rude way, I obviously tried to update/replace all of the components including: Perian, DivX, Flip4mac. No way. I then forced a downgrade to ver. 7.1.6 using Pacifist (a package manager) and as a result I put the hole system in danger. It was in a total state of malfunction. I had to restore the system with the cd. Fortunately it kept my home! But I now run ver 7.1.6 and I do NOT have any intention to update it. I use Pro so I don't have any necessity of full screen support or else. Maybe if Apple will release a stable version I will consider the update. But for now, "nowing it is not installing it".

Sad YouTube limitations on Apple TV

Many people seem to love the YouTube feature of Apple TV. For those casual or pop YouTube users interested in just surfing and checking out random bits on YouTube, Apple TV does well for them. But for users like me, I find the YouTube limitations frustrating and confusing.
First of all, when I look at videos posted by someone I subscribe to, the list seems random. It isn't in order of post date or at the very least, it will skip over some posts (quite obvious if you want to watch a video series).
Secondly, it doesn't support playlists. Not playlists you can create like the YouTube Quicklist, not a playlist of favorites, and not the playlists that others might create (which would help with the aforementioned video series issue).
These limitations make my Apple TV less than useful for viewing videos on YouTube. Is the addition of these features on the roadmap?

it's not a problem to fix. the playlist feature has never been available on appletv.

You may want to describe the issue in just a little more detail. "Can't watch" doesn't tell us much.

Hmmmm... would appear that you need to be actually logged in to enable the additional menu features.
Have you tried deletting the plists for MAS?

From iCloud Control Panel 2.1.1 for Windows
"iCloud Control Panel 2.1 and later includes support for Windows 8"
but you still need to set it up on a Mac or iOS device, "Note: To create an iCloud account you need an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 5 or later, or a Mac with OS X Lion v10.7.5 or later."
