Youtube mobile site difficulties.

Attempting to open ANY video on youtube's mobile site brings up "this link needs to be opened with an application" with no way I can see of actually playing the content. This is true even for videos which I can play fine on the desktop site (still accessing via mobile browser). I'm using FF19 on a gingerbread galaxy ace 2 (rooted, FWIW), no flash support, stagefright.force.enabled is set to true.

Firefox needs the YouTube app for best performance. The other option is to use the Phony extension and set it to Desktop Firefox. This should get you the desktop version of YouTube.

    How to reproduce:
    1. visit www.youtube.com mobile site using a tablet
    2. go to youtube setting and turn the Safe Search to ''On"
(or edit PREF cookie's fms2 value to 30000)
    3. search the word like "porn"
    The result is not filtered.
My user agent is "Mozilla/5.0 (Android; Tablet; rv:23.0) Gecko/23.0 Firefox/23.0" on Nexus Tablet.
You can also reproduce this issue just by changing the user agent and visit youtube mobile site on your PC.
Youtube mobile safe search is working in chrome browser.
So I believe this issue is Firefox specific.
    Thanks.

    Hi!
I'm able to replicate this on my mobile phone, interestingly though, Chrome, in the same phone (A nexus 4) has the same behavior.
So it looks like a problem on their side. Thinking about it, it's hard to tell how could this be related to the browser.
I would recommend rising the issue in the Youtube forum: http://productforums.google.com/forum/#!forum/youtube

  • Embeding Youtube video in a mobile site.

I can embed Youtube video in my normal site without problem. But the same video will not appear on my mobile site.
Is there anything special that needs to be done to make the video work?
I'm running out of ideas! Thanks.

Turns out it was down to using the old or new embed code from youtube.
There were also problems with Muse crashing once I embeded the correct code. I fixed using this:

Everytime i go to watch a video on youtube, weather it be the mobile site, desktop version or the app, it always says 'video unavailable on this device' this only started happening in the last few weeks! Can someone help???

Most YouTube content requires the Flash plugin. Sometimes it's necessary to uninstall then reinstall that plugin.
Uninstall the Flash plugin then reinstall new >  Troubleshoot Flash Player | Mac OS
Very important to uninstall the currently installed plugin first.
Now launch Safari and try a video.
If you have the ClickToFlash extension installed, that can prevent Flash based video from streaming. It can also be installed as a plugin in /Library/Internet-Plug-Ins.
And check to see if Safari is running in 32 bit mode. Right or control click the Safari icon in your Applications folder then click Get Info. If the box next to:  Open in 32 bit mode  is selected, deselect, quit then relaunch Safari.
You may also need to delete the cache associated with Safari .
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
    Type or copy/paste:   ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari
Click Go the move the Cache.db file from the com.apple.Safari folder to the Trash.
Quit and relaunch Safari. Try a video.

  • YouTube mobile no longer works

    Android 4.4.2
    Firefox 36.0.1
YouTube mobile now sends me back to 'what to watch' whenever I click play. The non mobile site works for the most part except that some vids demand flash. In chrome it works fine. And it was all working fine a while ago.

    Hi Lordproblemhaver:
It's NOT clear to me from your description what your problem is. I can play youtube videos just fine on all of my android devices (e.g. Samsung S5 on Lollipop)
    # You told us your version of Firefox and what version of Android, great! But we also need to know what phone or tablet are you using?
    # Please tell us what you did, what happened and what you expected (a screenshot would be lovely!) Do you have the Flash player installed on your phone or tablet?
    Cheers!

  • Goodbye Flash: YouTube mobile goes HTML5 on iPhone and Android

Greetings, Im looking for a better understanding to what this Flash war is about. and I would likreto hear from the Adobe side of designer.
Goodbye Flash: YouTube mobile goes HTML5 on iPhone and Android
How true is this, and what will become of designing Flash websites?
I finaly was able to upgrade to an entire Suite of Adobe products including Flash with the intention of doing some Flash work, but now the client is not wanting ANY flash work because it wont work on a phone!
What about all the Flash website alredy up and running? Will new sites have to be created just for the F*ing iphone?
Watching  Avatar on the back of a airline seats to cracker sized phone screens. seriously, what is the point.
    .. I know, it's a bit of a rant.

    Marek,
    Welcome to the forum.
Do you happen to have the usable specs. for these devices? I would assume that the manual, or maybe a product Web site would have such. That will help us determine the best settings to use.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Mobile site for Industrial Supplier?

    Hey gang,
I am wondering what the concensus would be on this topic. I don't know how prolific mobil sites are, outside of entertainment genres.
We have been an industrial company that largely works towards the oilfield market and related industries. We now are jumping into what is called, Specialty Gases which still deals here but also moves us into laboratory, natural gas transmission and other, highly technical fields. With this in mind, I realize the customers/individuals are of a different caliber, they are likely more technologically savvy.
With this in mind, do we seem like a good candidate? Do you see a potential ROI?
    What do you think?
    Rob

    Hi Rob
Mobile friendly/specific sites are said to be the big growth area now, but they said that last year as well !
The easiest way is probably to check your site stats  for the number of visitors using mobile os's and browsers. But even that may not be enough, I can tell you that designing and building a site specifically for mobile devices is just as complex, and probably costs more if done on its own than a 'standard' desktop site.
The other thing to remember is that any ROI will be difficult to calculate as most potential customers will 'check-out' the mobile site, then actually order/contact-you using a desktop.

  • How do you stop mobile sites from loading in safari automatically on my iPad? I can't log into mobile me because of this.

How do you stop mobile sites from loading in safari automatically on my iPad? I can't log into mobile me because of this.

The me.com website is not designed for or intended to be accessed by iOS devices. Apple provides support in iOS or seperate Apps for accessing all aspects of MobileMe except for the Accounts section.
Use MobielMe as intended and you'll have no problems.
    See: http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1673
Even if you use a different browser to get access to me.com on iOS, you'll find most of it is unusable.
Other websites that present you with the mobile version have been programmed to do so by their developers. They specifically look for users accessing from 'mobile' devices and switch to the mobile site. Many such sites provide a link to go back to the 'full' site, if not, there's not a lot you can do except use a browser that can pretend not to be a mobile browser.

  • How do i get Safari to stop redirecting to mobile sites?

Mobile websites are a curse, and IMO was one of the main reasons people didn't use the mobile web before the iPhone. Now with the iPhone you can view the actual web (minus flash, which I would really like to see soon, hint hint), without having to deal with these crippled sites, yet most of them still redirect you to their mobile site.
Someone please tell me there is a way to get safari on the iPhone to stop redirecting to mobile sites without jailbreaking my phone.

These redirects are controlled by the websites themseives. They figure out if you are on a mobile phone or not and then redirect you to the mobile version.
The only way to change that is to look for a link on their site that leads to the full version or write the website webmaster asking them for a link to be added.
There are other ways as well but those aren't supported by Apple so they can't be discussed here.

  • Safari 5.1.2 showing mobile site on macbook pro

I keep having a an issues where my web pages look like this:
    Here is what I've tried:
    1. Open your Safari web browser by clicking on the Safari icon in the dock.
    2. Click on Safari in your Safari menu, located at the top of your screen.
    3. A drop-down menu will now appear. Choose the... option labeled Reset Safari....
    4. A warning dialog will now appear detailing the items that will be removed.
    5. Click the button on the dialog labeled Reset to complete the process.
    6. Your Safari browser will now restart automatically.
    *didn't work*
    Then I tried:
From your Safari menu bar click Safari / Preferences - Advanced and make sure the Develop mode box is not checked. That way Safari will only load from your currently installed Safari version.
And from your Safari menu bar click Safari / Reset Safari. Select the top 7 buttons, click Reset.
    *didn't work*
    Any suggestions would be helpful.
    Running Safari 5.1.2

I have the same problem on all browers, not just Safari. Some sites default to mobile (CNN, Weather.com among others), flagging user agent in Develop does not change the mobile default. Mac Genius Bar suggested reinstalling Snow Leopard could resolve the issue, installing Lion would certainly cure. Neither worked, Safari, Firefox, Chrome, Opera--all default to mobile on certain sites. I could live with the mobile sites, but losing view on WordPress is a pain (only html view shows now).

  • Is it possible to make a link in a mobile site close the browser window on the iPhone?

I'm developing a mobile site specifically for iPhone users and on my home page I have a disclaimer saying something like do not browse this site while driving. I give them the option to continue by clicking a link or to close the browser by clikcinga link. So far I haven't been able to find a script that can handle that for mobile, or more specifically, the iPhone. Can this be done on the iPhone and what versions are limited to this feature?

Ok let me ask you IF the IT department of your workplace does NOT want OS X installed on "THEIR" (The Companies) computers because of what they think is some type of security issue why are you trying to go against their wishes and install OS X on a computer that is NOT owned by you.
That could cost you your job.
If you continue down this path you will screw up the Windows install and have to take the system back to the IT department to get it fixed. What do you think they will say at that point?
Do as you like but you would be better off just buying your own Mac computer if you are set on using OS X as your personal operating system.

  • Mobile site using an accordian panel with menu selections

I watched the adobe muse video here is the link  http://tv.adobe.com/watch/creative-suite-podcast-designers/how-to-create-a-dynamic-sliding -menu-for-your-mobile-website-in-adobe-muse/
In the demo, when you preview it mobile site, the menu is not displayed and when you tap th emenu, the accordian menu displays and pushes all the content down and then when you close it, pushes it back up.
I created a similar test mobile site. But, when I preview it the menu always appear on start up and the content is not pushed down or up when the menu is activated or closed.  I noticed that the options on the accordian widget in the video are different than in my MUSE which is V7.1 build 329.  There is no close all initially check box. Instead I have an overlap item below check box.
So my question is what do I need to do to get this to work as per the video.
    Thanks-Bryan

    Hello,
I think there may be an issue in how your model/Accordion Menu was configured.  What insert option are you using?  Your destination should only be 'one' row OR 'one' column at the most.
    Thanks,
    AJ

  • Trouble with mobile site. Displays for a second then screen goes black.

Trouble with mobile site. Displays for a second then screen goes black. Using safari, 4s on Verizon. Example: m.mlb.com/lad/

I hadn't checked the site since January or so, when it worked. It might be related to the Opening Weekend skin they have on the site, but for me, it shows the top part of the page for 3 seconds while it's loading (scrolling down is impossible) and then all of a sudden it turns black, showing nothing. It's that way for every MLB mobile site.
    At first:
    Two seconds later:
I noticed this on 4/7/12. Does anyone NOT have this problem?

  • Mobile Site - Need Accordion Widget to start at top of page upon item selection

I have set up a mobile site.  I use the accordion widget for topics.  If I select any topic without diving into it and scrolling, it works fine.  If I scroll through a topic after selection, the next topic starts in the middle or the bottom.  Kind of annoying for the user.  Any ideas?
    Thanks

    Hi Kevin,
Could you please share the site URL or any screen shot for reference?

  • Where is the database connection for a mobile site?

I have a Flash mobile site that I didn't create, but need to edit. On clicking the submit button it checks that the login & password are in a SQL database. The problem is, I can't find the method that runs a query on the database or where the database is even connected. I've tried searching through the code for words like "SQL", "database", and "connection" without success. I stepped through the code where I find a call to method "super", but then it goes back to the original method and then the user is logged in. Can someone explain where the call to the database is?
Other things I'd like to know are: Where is the SQL Connection? In the main (non-mobile site), there is a web.config with a line that says
    <add name="TPConnectionString1"  connectionString="DataSource=xxx.xx.xxx.xx,xxxx\sqlexpress;Initial Catalog=TP;Persist Security  Info=True;User ID=xxxxx" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient"/>
Where (what file: ex. web.config, xyz.as, etc.) would a similar line in the mobile code be?
What does super(type, bubbles, cancelable) do?
Here's the method for the submit button: LoginView.mxml
            private function btnclicked():void{  techController.username = txtUsername.text;  techController.password = txtPassword.text;  var evt:TechEvent = new TechEvent(TechEvent.LOGIN_USER);  this.dispatchEvent(evt);  }
Here's the TechEvent function that is called: TechEvent.as
        public function TechEvent(type: String, bubbles:Boolean=true, cancelable:Boolean=false)  {  super(type, bubbles, cancelable);  }
    Here's the dispatchEvent method: UIComponent.as
    override public function dispatchEvent(event:Event):Boolean  {  if (dispatchEventHook != null)  dispatchEventHook(event, this);    return super.dispatchEvent(event);  }

You are looking for an event handler for the TechEvent.LOGIN_USER event.
Coding style looks similar to a SWIZ style framework, in which case, the event handlers could be defined using metadata [EventHandler] or [Mediate] tags, but could just be a plain simple .addEventListener(TectEvent.LOGIN_USER,fn); declaration earlier on.
Either way, this is what has happened:
    1. User enters uname and password, then clicks button
    2. Button click handler populates the techController with relevant values then dispatches an event to let the world know it has done so
    3. The event handler checks the techController and makes the login call
    4. Some time later, the server will respond and trigger another event that the app can respond to
