Your Mac runs maintenance in the background for you.
Command + R gives you access to restore, repair, or reformat the drive using OS X Recovery
No idea why that was suggested.
You may have a third party video player installed that's causing an incompatibility issue.

  • G41M-P26 video freeze and crash

    I have a G41M-P26 with the following:
    Intel Pentium E5700 Wolfdale 3.0GHz LGA 775
    G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 PC3 8500
    Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1
    On-board video
Windows will boot and run fine for 10 minutes (sometimes less), then the video freezes and the system is unresponsive. I have tried both the Intel and Windows drivers for the video. Neither fix the problem. I have upgraded the BIOS to the latest (ver.26.8). What should I try next?

    memtest the ram
or try them one by one first

  • Netflix streaming video freezes but audio is ok...

When I'm watching Netflix streaming videos, Firefox video freezes. Audio is fine and I can continue hearing the video. Firefox is the only browser that does this. IE9 and Google Chrome plays without the video freezing. I love Firefox and would like to continue using it. I get tired of having to change browsers just to be able to watch streaming video. Thanks!!!

    Hi glel,

  • Where are all the Video FX and Audio FX from iMovie HD?

Exactly! I tried looking for them, but all I found were: Music and Sound Effects, Photos, Titles, and Transitions.
iMovie HD had things (under "Editing") such as: Video FX and Audio FX, and also had waaay more choices of Titles, and a couple extra Transitions.
Is there a way that I can find all the stuff iMovie HD had on iMovie '08 without using iMovie HD?

Many reviews of iMovie 08 recommend using both iMovie 08 and iMovie 06 (I do).
When iLife 08 is installed, all of the old applications are automatically deleted EXCEPT iMovie 06, because Apple WANTS you to have it.
The Web site below has a good comparison of iMovie 08 and iMovie 06.
    http://www.geethree.com/slick/imovie8.html
Apple includes iMovie 06 as a free download to iLife 08 owners. (THEY WANT YOU TO HAVE IT!)

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Yes it's network issues or settings that cause these types of problems most of the time.

  • HT4623 Videos from Netflix, youtube, etc. frequently stop, freeze and run out of sync on my ipad gen4.  Any hints as what to do to correct this problem?

Videos on my ipad 4gen stop, freeze and when they do restart at times are out of sync.  This happens on Netflix, youtube, FoxNews, etc. Any suggestions as to the problem or correction.

The most common cause of this type of issue is an inconsistant or slow internet connection.
But, you might want to try a reset: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the device shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps from the tray BEFORE doing the reset.

  • IMovie Problems: Photo import and audio-video out of sync.

    Photo import problem:
Some times, I have problems importing photos onto my new project, the photos will appear to be that just one same photo when played. It does not transit to the other photos following the first, it's just stuck on the first. Is this just an issue with iMovie '11? Are there any other ways to resolve this problem?
    Audio-video out of sync:
I've checked some other discussions but I'd like to raise this issue again for APPLE. There are problems exporting my 7-minute film - the video and audio go completely out of sync no matter what format I export it to. There are not a lot of clips used. I'm now trying the method to detach the audio files from the video, hopefully it works.
These issues are bothering me, in addition to a failed firmware update on Mac OSX 10.7.2 a few weeks ago. I couldn't open my computer and I had to go to the Genius Bar to have them help me backup my files on my computer and reinstall the whole system again. Anyways, any help to the above iMovie issues are greatly appreciated. Just wish that Apple will address these current issues and not just focus on improving their products with awesome features ._.

    Hello,
Thanks for the reply, I am using embed code generated with Flash Media Playback, as follows:
    <object width="640" height="480"> <param name="movie" value="http://fpdownload.adobe.com/strobe/FlashMediaPlayback.swf"></param><param name="flashvars" value="src=rtmpt%3A%2F%2F50.62.40.55%3A1935%2Flive%2Fchristmastime&poster=http%3A%2F%2Fsq uarestream.ca%2Fpics%2Fframe.jpg&autoPlay=true&streamType=live&optimizeInitialIndex=false" ></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://fpdownload.adobe.com/strobe/FlashMediaPlayback.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="480" flashvars="src=rtmpt%3A%2F%2F50.62.40.55%3A1935%2Flive%2Fchristmastime&poster=http%3A%2F% 2Fsquarestream.ca%2Fpics%2Fframe.jpg&autoPlay=true&streamType=live&optimizeInitialIndex=fa lse"></embed></object>

  • Video/Audio out of sync / stutters at start and then jumps back into sync.

Everything appears fine in the Simulator and when played in the computer. However I have noticed on 2 different DVD Players that when the video starts the audio is out of sync for about the first 20 sec or so and then slides back into sync for the remainder. Seems to sort of lag.
I am exporting NTSC videos out of FCP and encoding via Compressor. I am using the Compressor presets (usually 120 min Fastest Encode).
    Anyone see this before?

Fixed. There was 5 sec video clip that plays before the main video in the track. However, the 5 sec clip was video only, not audio, and was as a .mov as opposed to mpeg2. Anyways I encoded the 5sec clip in mpeg2/AAC and added it before the main clips and everything works. Still don't know WHY it happened and why it stuttered, any ideas? Don't think it was the lack of black at the start as i didn't add any.

  • [SOLVED] flashplugin video freezing while audio is fine

I saw a post about this on this forum, but I've been searching the forum for about 5 hours now and I can't find it, so I'll post a new topic.
When I do almost anything with adobe flash (in firefox or chromium) after about five seconds the visual freezes while the audio goes on.  I hesitate to call it "video" because this happens with games and such, not just youtube-type videos.  If I right click on the flash animation/video/whatever you want to call it, it starts working again, but only for a few seconds before the same thing happens again.
Also, if I make videos fullscreen, it's just a black screen the first time.  I exit fullscreen and do it again and then it works.  Sometimes the video for that freezes, too, but less often.
I've tried uncommenting EnableLinuxHWVideoDecode=1 in /etc/adobe/mms.cfg and that doesn't help.  In fact, if I try a fullscreen video with that uncommented, the X server crashes when I try to exit fullscreen.
I've got an intel video card and I've tried playing with xorg.conf enabling EXA with greedy MigrationHeuristic, UXA, XAA, I've tried turning off tiling.  Nothing works.  And I'm not using compiz or anything like that.  I've tried everything I know.  Anybody have any other suggestions???  (Please...?)

    I'm using flashplugin (ver. 10.2.159.1-2) on a 32-bit system.
I am on i686 too. Mine is

  • Video freezes but audio continues

Help! I have been having this problem for a couple of weeks now. It seems to happen randomly. I will be watching a video on YouTube for example and then the video will freeze and the audio will continue. The only way out is to do a system reset. I have done a factory restore, but the problem continues. I have run diagnostics and the only thing it says is something about the network connection. However, the network works fine. I have had this happen to a TV show that I purchased also. I had to reboot the Apple TV several times just to get through the show. Very annoying. What could be causing my problem? And, it is no longer under warranty. Thanks for any assistance!
Oh, I have updated the Apple TV to the latest 2.3.1 version. Could this be the problem? I don't remember this freezing problem before this update. Any way to go back to an earlier update?
    Thanks again.

To be honest that's the first time I've ever heard anyone running Diagnostics and something being reported by it!
You may think your network's fine but AppleTV clearly doesn't.
    What's the message?

Could be software/hardware/network.....no easy answer here.

No - you've already done a factory restore - even if that rolls you back a few versions, it'll soon nag you to update to 2.3.1 again. No selective software updates can be applied.

  • Video pauses and audio continues for a few seconds

I searched and was unable to find an answer. When I play a video in any type of player from youtube to VLC, the video starts and then the video pauses, audio continues for about 2 seconds, and then the video picks up where the audio is. It plays normally after the beginning. Any idea what this could be?

Although I don't have my mouse jumping around, I can see that both YouTube and AVI videos that I play are stuttering during playback. And it's annoying.

  • FMLE streaming @ HD, video freezing but audio still works. ??

    Hi all,
We are trying to some HD streaming using FMLE 3 and a Osprey 700HDe card.
We can get the HD input in @ 720p no worries.
Once the stream is pushed up to our CMD and embedded in the webisite we can view the video.
    Thats all ok.
It plays fine for a while and then the video freezes but the audio continues to play. It clears up after a while but its a pretty constant problem every minute or so.
We tried some suggested methods like turning of hardware acceleration in the flash player.
And even pushed the buffer out to 1 minute.
    No luck.
Its more noticeable at bitrates above 2000kbps.
We would also like to push the res and bit rate higher to deal with full 1080p.
But we would lik it to handle this lower quality first.
The processor is not running under too much stress. Around 35% and our internet is more than sufficient. 60mps down 5mps up.
    Any ideas??

I think problem is in your network conditions. Please check the RTMP buffer at FMLE. Is it increasing. You can check this from Statistics Panel at Publishing tab.
This could be due to network latency at between your client and FMS side. Please check it using Ping command. If this latency is beyond certain level then also you can also see RTMP buffer increasing and Video stalling at subsciber side

  • Print to Video - freeze and lost sound

    Hi,
I'm using a Mac Pro and FCE HD 3.5 with a La Cie 250 GB external drive attached through FW 800. The whole thing is attached to a Sony DSR 11 deck.
Everytime I try to print my (six minute) project to video, it runs for about 4 minutes and then freezes at exactly the same point. Then after a couple of seconds, it starts up again but with no sound. At the same time, I hear the La Cie drive whirring and then seeming to power down (but I'm not sure). I have done a disk repair on the La Cie and it's verified etc.
I checked the shot where the freeze occurs and it seems OK - it's about 300 MB large, no movement, no transitions or color correction or sound filters etc applied - just a straightforward shot. The file does not seem to be corrupted (but is there any way of telling?)
When I play the project in the timeline it runs fine. I have done all the necessary "render sequence" and "audio" renders, even each time before print to video (even though it does not seem to need rendering).
I also exported the projected to Quick Time and used the QT to try and print to video but with the same result.
The strange thing is that another sequence in the same project that is 8 minutes long, prints to video perfectly.
I am totally mystified by this and wonder if anyone can help me.
    Thanks!

Before you go off & spend money, are you absolutely sure you have actually rendered everything & mixed down your audio?
Sequence > Render All > Both
Sequence > Render Only > Mixdown Audio
Also, for what it's worth, I have encountered enough problems with Print to Video that I have taken to just playing from the timeline when I want to record on an external device, and not bothering with PrintToVideo.
