YouTube Quality is horrible!!!

Ive noticed that the quality of YouTube videos on my 3G iPhone are horrible! I went into an apple store and played a video from YouTube on a display phone, and the image is crystal clear. Im very frustrated because after shelling out $200 for the phone and $70 a month for the service, everything about my phone should be near perfect.
any suggestions?!
Thanks :]

So if you only shelled out $50 or $100 for a phone that does not include a YouTube app in the first place nor requires an unlimited data plan, it would be OK if the phone wasn't near perfect? Goodness....
The video quality is reduced when accessing YouTube via the cellular network, so is it the same when connected via wi-fi? And while you took the time to visit this Apple store to play with a demo unit - which is connected via wi-fi, did you connect your iPhone to the wi-fi network available at the Apple Store for an apples to apples (no pun intended) comparison?
If so and different with your iPhone compared to the display unit with both connected via the same wi-fi network watching the same video, did you bring this to the attention of any Apple Store employee while there?
If not, why not?

  • My youtube quality is horrible

I use a Nikon D700 for shooting videos what is the best export settings in Final Cut Pro X.

It changed in 10.0.6. You want Export Movie in the Share menu. If the file is too large, select H.264 in the Export Movie settings. YouTube will recrunch it, which really reduces the quality.

  • Exporting quality is horrible!

When I go to File, Export and do a conversion to a MP4 file...The qualtity of the movie is horrible when it's finished..Any ideas why?
I have a Sony HDR-CX150. I spoke with Apple and FCE has not been tested on my camera so therefore I have to import into iMovie save the files then open in FC. Any help would be awesome! Thanks!

When I export I click File, Export, then click using Quicktime Conversion. I then change the format to mp4. For the use box under format I select Default settings. Under options I change frame rate to 29.97. File Format is mp4 (ISMA).
I am new to FCE so I apologize for the newbie post! The first movie I tried to export was a clip of my golf swing in slo-mo...the quality was horrible here it is...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zt70ByOdHhM
Then I tried to make a movie of just random video I shot over the weekend. Same thing..Is there anything more details of anything you need..I don't know a lot about this stuff so i'm just learning as I go. The main thing I will be exporting to is YouTube and Facebook

  • Flash export quality is horrible

    Hello,
Everytime I export a .gif animation the quality is horrible. As you can see by the picture attached it goes blury and has wierd colours. This isn't the best example really, I have had animations export so bad that you can barely reconize them. Why is this and how to I fix it?
    Best regards,
    Jacob

    Hi,
GIF has maximum 256 colors(8 bit). If you try to save an animation/image in GIF it will reduce the color quality of the image due to it's low color value. Alternate to this is JPG but JPG just not support animation. So the best format is .swf.  If you want to save the animation in gif then reduce the colors(in the range of 8bit) of the images you are using in animation.
    Hope this helps!
    Cheers

  • How to burn an iMovie to DVD without losing quality? I have iMovie 10.0.5 and imac 10.9.4 mountain lion. I do not have iDVD. After iMovie goes through the encoding process, quality is horrible. How can I fix this?

How to burn an iMovie to DVD without losing quality?  I have iMovie 10.0.5 and iMac 10.9.4 mountain lion. I do not have iDVD. After iMovie goes through the encoding process, quality is horrible. How can I fix this problem? I have tried the apps BURN and DVD Creator for MAC. I need to finish this DVD asap and becoming more and more frustrated. Why would Apple give us iMovie and not provide us an app to burn it to a DVD and / or take away the iDVD?
    Alicia McGinnis

Why is there no iDVD on my new Mac? How do I get it and how do I install it?
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3673
To burn a DVD with iDVD from the latest version of iMovie, you have to export the movie using the Export button and select 480p as the size. Open iDVD and start a new project, then drag that exported movie file into the iDVD menu window, avoiding any drop zones you see.

  • IPhone 5 Youtube videos have horrible quality even on fast wifi/LTE.

For awhile now I have been watching videos on youtube (and pretty much any other video platform) and have been noticing that occasionally I get HORRIBLE quality. The screen gets blurry, sound quality goes way down. Even if I am connected to home wifi (I have great wifi) it still goes blurry to the point where I would rather just do on the computer. On LTE and 3G I guess it was acceptable but wifi was the kicker. My iPod Touch 4g can have better video playback than my iPhone 5. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I am running on 6.0.2.

That's probably simply due to the mobile device version of the video that you are watching just being horrible.
As always, an example link of a video that you are talking about would help.

  • Premiere Pro CS6 very bad YouTube quality.

    Hello,
Before asking me to look further on google because there may be my answer, i say that i've searched/posted/asked everywhere i could.
I use fraps to record some in-game footages, the file bitrates are huge 500-900M, i then render them in premiere pro as i need to add an intro/ending and then i upload them (or i'm hardly trying to) on youtube.
The thing is I've used every setting I could ever find, contacted youtube users who managed to do it right, but after I upload the video on youtube, the quality is absolutely horrible.
Right after i render i check the video, the quality is perfect, after that I upload it to youtube and after processing the video, it looks like it has 1M bitrate, laggy.
Can anyone please help me to solve this problem?
    Thanks!
    RAW clip bitrate: 500-900M
Render settings from Premiere Pro CS6:
    Format: H264
    Resolution: 1280x720
    Frames per second: 30
    Field Order: Progressive
    Aspect: Square Pixels (1.0)
    TV Standard: NTSC
    Profile: High
    Level: 5.1
    Render at Maximum depth: Checked
    Bitrate settings:
    Encoding: VBR, 2 pass
    Maximum bitrate: 20M
    Minimum bitrate: 20M
(Tried with smaller bitrates too, like 8/10/15, the output file wasnt so clear but youtube would still kill it)

OK. Here is what I have done.
I took took your crisp video of game play and dropped it on the New Item button to create a sequence. I checked the sequence and saw that the video was 1280X720 using 30 frames per second. Not 29.97, but 30. That could be relevant.
Then I took this screen shot of the video playing in Windows Media Player and in the Program Monitor of Premiere Pro. I see some degradation even at 30Mb/s which suprised me to be honest with you.  I read through the YouTube help and they recommed 30Mb/s for 720p so I exported at 30Mb/s.
The easiest place to spot the degradation is in the space above the letter E (before the CK) in the upper left of the frame. Some of the texture is missing. Not much. It is ever so much softer. But I don't believe that it will prove to be relevant.
So, now it is time to upload to YouTube and see what happens.
Darn, I have no way to play the YouTube video at exactly 1280X720. I just have full screen and the larger box.  Is there a way to do that? Other than setting my monitor for 720p or playing it on an old HDTV?
Oh well, here it is. Reasonably clean going in. How about coming out? Not so much. I am not happy with it. I am going to try again using CBR just for the heck of it. Crud. That didn't help. See for yourself.
I am stumped. Somebody with the capability to see it at the exact size speak up please. How is it done. (I use Chrome.)
Edit: I found a YouTube resizer that sets the medium box bigger - to 1280X720. I knew it had to be possible. But I am certainly not happy with the changes YouTube makes to a 30Mb/s file.
I am off to go try Vimeo.
    Edit:
I am not happy with this either.
There is something about this video that makes it difficult for them to encode it. I have no idea what it might be. Perhaps the more technical among us can provide answers. It is not horrible, and it is better than 480p, but it isn't great.

  • Apple TV 2G - Setting YouTube quality?

I have terrible internet. And when I use YouTube on my new apple tv, it automaticly selects the best quality that the video is uploaded in. Some video's are uploaded in 1080p. My connection takes around 10 minutes to load of a video of that quality. So when I watch a normal/ standard 360p video, it starts instantly and plays perfect.
But if i go to watch a video and the highest quality is 1080p, apple tv auto picks 1080p and it takes forever to start.
So is there any way I can set video's to be always played in 360p??
    Thx

Yes I have that setting as 'play using highest quality' or what ever so now I've changed it down to 'i have a slow connection bla bla' but it still doesn't make a difference

  • Uploading to youtube quality issues

    im
I hope someone can help me with what is a frustrating problem..and maybe one of the experts can point out where I'm going wrong!
I've created a full HD 13 second animation in after effects and exported it as a lossless quality MOV.
I then import it into final cut to edit slightly and add the soundtrack. This is then exported with the H264 compressor to a size of about 200MB.
when I play this on quicktime the quality is perfect but then on completition of upload to youtube the 360/480 settings take so much quality that it looks 'dirty' and blurry.
Is there any way round this which maintains quality at lower resolutions as most people don't click up to the higher HD quality options?
I'd also like to ask if what I'm doing is the 'right' way to do this whole process and exporting to a mov is right etc.
    thanks in advance!

If you are using CS five or later than open the Adobe media encoder. then open your a the project in the media encoder and select H.264 and the YouTube HD preset.
Render them upload then wait for you to build the lo-res versions. Works for me, I do it all the time.

  • Strange YouTube quality problem

    (Torch 9810)
So I've been having this weird issue with video quality on YouTube. Whether I'm on 3G or Wifi it still plays the video on very low quality settings, where previously they would play at high quality. But then I noticed that when YouTube play videos off of Google Search, I don't have these quality issues. I tested this with the same video, too. Any idea of what the problem is?
    Thanks.

  • Youtube Quality Woes

    Hello everyone,
I am trying to find out how to improve my normal youtube video quality so that people who watch "not in HD" mode will be able to read and see everything clearly.
I have tried numerous settings and nothing has worked for me so far as my videos are substantially pixelated.
I am recording the video with a Canon Powershot G7 and have tried recording in both of these formats (the two highest available):
    1024 x 768 @ 15fps
    640 x 480 @ 30fps
My aim is to produce these videos so they can be seen in widescreen mode, so when I edited the 640 x 480 video I just scaled it up to fit into the 1280 x 720 work area I was using in Premiere.
When I was working with the 1024 x 768 video I had to scale it down a small amount to fit in the widescreen area on premiere so I thought this would increase the quality somewhat?
I have a feeling that the pixelation is somehow related to the source video I am recording from my G7 camera. However, when I view the exported video from Adobe it is extremely clear, so I am guessing that the problem is with the Youtube encoding process.
I am trying to figure out what are the best settings for me to use so that Youtube will not present me with a pixelated video once I upload it.
It is all well and good for the viewer to click "watch in HD" but that has its drawbacks, it's slow, some people might not bother clicking it once they see the original video, and if I embed these videos on forums or websites the quality will be terrible and they have no "watch in HD" option to click.
I desperately need to improve the normal quality of my video.
Here is the video I am talking about:
    http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=cpowvKFt0_c
As you can see the quality is terrible, that was exported using my H.264 settings:
(The exported video was 59.1 MB)
    Format: H.264
    Summary:
NTSC, 1280x720, 59.84[fps] (this was meant to be 23.876 but when I corrected this later it still resulted in poor quality video, Progressive
    AAC, 192[kbps], 48 kHz, Stereo
VBR, 2 Pass, Target 6.00, Max 10.00 [Mbps]
When you view this video in HD mode it looks fine, but as I stated before it has its drawbacks as some cannot simply click view in HD mode.
I also tried to export in Quicktime with similar settings but it resulted in poor quality video. I have read that H.264 is the format to use so I won't bother telling you these settings unless someone needs to know them.
I desperately need to improve my normal youtube video quality, any help is extremely appreciated.
    Thanks.

I've done some searching in this forum on Youtube and found a number of solutions. I've used WMV, FLV and AVI. the lastest one I put up,
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zSTyqfZUzN4
is a high quality WMV file and both watched in low and high seems acceptable. If you look at the others www.youtube.com/mustanggenerations on the youtube page you'll I suffered many of the same problems till I reviewed what was in these forums. Now I get my best quality through our own site, using .FLV.
Because for some reason my CS3 won't spit out a WMV file, and get a cant' find writer area (already searched forum here but no real solution yet) I've been reverting back to my 2.0 and now use the WMV export for youtube.
Not sure if all that helps but that's where I'm at with this.

  • Others having poor YouTube quality with Firefox?

This is bizzare - half the time my Firefox views of my videos are ok the other half are atrocious.
I have sniffed around and find the auto select of video quality varies: the ok view is the 360, but half the time Firefox selects the 240 version (unbelievably poor) ..!
The Safari browser always picks the 360 when on automatic, so that's fine.
    So, I'm wondering:
    (1) Is anyone else having problems?
    (2) Since I uploaded to YouTube using imovie share, is it possible Safari picks the right viewing definition and Firefox not?
    (3) If that is the case, and others are also having viewing troubles, perhaps uploading via imovie/Safari is not a good idea for anyone.
    Cheers, Peter

Thanks for your reply Adam, but I don't understand a thing of what you said.
In the past YouTube has always played the video at the correct resolution, but now it selects the wrong one almost exactly half the time. And with Safari too, I have sometimes found, though not as often as Firefox.
You spoke about deleting temp video files, what is that? This video has been up for nearly 2 years and it is only now that it is misbehaving.

  • DVDs I burn look like crap. Quality is horrible, but looks great in iMovie.

So I have a few movies I have put together in iMovie. One was imported using an HD camera, one from MiniDV. I have made edited movies of this footage, some adding text and what not, and some just raw footage. When I have exported these movies to YouTube or just Quicktime files to be emailed or posted on the web, they look great, like normal. When I burn them to DVD using iDVD, when played back on the regular TV or on another computer, the footage looks like crap, even though the animated menus look great.
I export the movie using the Media Browser, in Large format, and load them into iDVD that way. When I play the file in iDVD, it still looks great. The only time it looks bad is when the DVD is burned. The footage looks as though it has a "slow shutter" effect on it. The quality is crap, and the footage looks like it's gone through generation loss, uploaded to YouTube then re-burned to a DVD.
    Why is this happening?

I also have this problem and am trying to find a solution.
I shoot 1080i on a sony hd cam (minidv), then import and edit in FC Express using the apple intermediate codec 1080i60 and export to QT as a NON-independent file using same settings. The final movie file is 1920x1080 which is dragged into iDVD '08 and burned at "professional quality".
When I burn to dvd and play on my flatscreen in an sd dvd player, it looks like crap, even down to large pixelations around the text. I know not to expect HD but the SD should look better than this.
Now, when I play this in my macbook's dvd player, it looks better than the tv. But this is played at actual size which is only about 1/4 of my screen whose resolution is 1920x1200. I will select the "actual size" mode on the dvd controls. So why is iDVD making a 1080 movie to a ~400 movie?
ANy suggestions are appreciated and if anyone knows if DVD Studio Pro will solve this.
    Aloha:
    -Charlie-

  • YouTube Quality

I often watch YouTube over my cellular network. The videos are played through RealPlayer. Could someone please tell me if there is a way to increase the quality of the video. When I play the video over the WiFi network it is in much better quality. Can anyone help me?

there are bandwidth constraints for the cellular network, therefore they can only make youtube videos available that are of a quality that is optimised in download speed and streaming for the public. therefore there is no way you can improve the image quality of youtube videos in realplayer.
If you found this or someone's comments helpful or like what that person has to say, please give some Kudos to their post!
