Youtube resolution

Hi,
Is there any way to reduce the video qulaity of the youtube app on wifi? The proble m I have is that my little boy loves looking at youtube clips of disney cars and after 19:00 some streams become very slow and jittery. I have a decent 30mb broadband connection and I can prove using my laptop that selecting a lower qulaity video on youtube resolves the problem.
My boy is 3 so it is difficult to explain the problem to him and he likes the native app over the mobile youtube site.

Should help....

  • Youtube resolution and premiere settings

    hi,
youtube on his site state the resolution are:
    https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/2853702?hl=fr
    240p
    360p
    480p
    720p
    1080p* new platform only
    Résolution
    426 x 240
    640 x 360
    854x480
    1280x720
    1920x1080
but on the setting i have export to
    640x480 ?
    1440x1080 ?
1920x1080 ! ah there is one match.
Why do the export options do not match the video format offered by you tube ?
I think this force youtube to resize the video and makes poor quality and we are forced to load very heavy video in 1920x1080 to get a correct one in 720p. Could you tell us why the resolution choice is so low and also why not in sync with the biggest provider on line today ?
also why cannot we change any settings there
    regards,
    Ghislain.

In view of your stated ultimate goal, the answer appear to point you to considering the export of your Timeline content to a file via
Publish+Share/Computer/AVCHD with Presets = YouTube Widescreen HD. That will give you an AVCHD.mp4 1280 x 720 @ 24 progressive frames per second file. Under the Advanced Button of the preset, you can change the frame rate from 24 to a variety of alternatives. Then you upload this "AVCHD.mp4" file from its hard drive save location to YouTube at the YouTube website. At this point, I do not know if it is a given how YouTube will process your file. One would suspect as a 1280 x 720 file.
If you stay with the upload of the Timeline content to YouTube using the within Premiere Elements route (Publish+Share/Social Websites/YouTube), as you know, your choices include
    Flash Video for YouTube (640 x 480)
    High Definition for YouTube (1440 x 1080)
    Hight Definition for YouTube (1920 x 1080)
If your choice is 1440 x 1080, then I believe it will be a flip of the coin whether your upload is treated by YouTube as 1280 x 720 or 1920 x 1080.
The following is some supplemental information on uploads to YouTube.
Advanced encoding settings - YouTube Help
Please let us know if any of the above worked for you.
    Thanks.

  • Questions about 2nd gen AppleTV

I have a 1st gen AppleTV and see no reason to upgrade.  However, after using youtube on the 1st gen, I'd like to know how well youtube and vimeo work on the 2nd gen.  On the 1st gen, if you watch several youtube videos, you have to back out (click menu button) of all those videos plus a few more clicks to get out of youtube before you are back at the main menu.  Does the 2nd gen work this way?
It is probably more youtube, but sometimes, buffering takes a while before a video will play.
I'm not sure how the 1st gen selects youtube video resolution (360, 480, 720, 1080).  Does any one know?   Does any one know how the 2nd gen selects youtube resolution?
How does the 2nd gen select between HD and regular resolution on Vimeo?
I do have a TV that can play 1080p but all of my iTunes videos max at 720p.  Is the 2nd gen still max resolution of 720p like the 1st gen?
    thanks.

You Tube is pretty much the same on both, including resolution, buffering is likely caused by your network or internet connection. I have no information about Vimeo, the Apple TV 2 can still only play 720p.

I am researching optimal screen resolution for web video. Thanks for making me aware that it may be overkill.  Trust but verify...
Unless you're watching niche porn or have a thing for movie trailers, (both of which are the only kinds of video readily available at full HD resolution) most video available to you won't be higher than YouTube resolution so you won't need a 1600 x 900 display on your laptop. With the physical size of that display, the video would look pretty tiny and if you wanted to watch it enlarged or full-screen, you'd need a solid GPU and CPU to handle it. Most laptops can't cut it. Point in case, I can watch a 1280 by 720 Hulu vid perfectly on my laptop that has the same 15.6 inch display that the laptop mentioned here uses. At that resolution, there is a little bit of screen left over. If I watch that vid fullscreen which requires scaling, the video grinds to a halt and is unwatchable even when it's fully buffered. If I had a 1600 by 900 display on my laptop, it wouldn't look that much better than the regular video feed on a 1366 by 768 display. Most "HD" content you will find is going to be 1280 by 720 so watching it on a 1080p display is going to have compromises, especially when most of that content is low-bitrate stuff which doesn't look good to begin with. The only reason I have a 1080p LCD monitor is because I have a lot of 1080p video and I can lower the resolution of the display to 1366 by 768 to watch the 720p stuff if I want to. If you get a 1600 by 900 display on your laptop, you can easily lower the resolution if you want to unless it's locked out by the driver but you'll find that you wasted your money on the premium resolution after having used it at the lower resolution. I would only get a 1600 x 900 panel on a laptop if it was 17-inches or larger because it's sensible at that size because you have increased physical screen space to go with it. On a smaller notebook, it's just silly.

  • Experiencing resolution glitches when watching Youtube videos. Screen will glitch out, strange shift in screen orientation, as well as total resolution failure. Any wisdom on how to overcome this?

I have a Macbook Pro Early 2011, and am currently at 69 GB free on the 400 GB space. When I play Youtube Videos or visit websites which stream video, as well as when I run certain high graphics applications (games particularly), the resolution will just crash.
I have read a bit about this online, and have found that it has to do with the CPU and GPU being under heavy load. I think it's a bit silly that the Macbook Pro can't handle a Youtube video, however, so I hope that I may be able to remedy the problem.
    Thanks for the help.

Flash Player is 'embedded' into Chrome - and sometimes that's not a good thing. Right now Chrome has the largest market share in the browser wars, though, so I suppose they've some success with the embedding of the player.
Personally, I use Firefox and have had no problems. Safari is good, I just prefer the support of Firefox (which doesn't work with some other Adobe plugin for inline PDF viewing, though).
I don't know why you're having trouble with Chrome - it is very graphics intensive, I know, and has 'broken' in the past with some GPUs. I'd just make sure that you've the latest version of Chrome and if you still have problems, just use Safari or Firefox.

  • Cannot Change Video Resolution in Youtube

When I try to change the video resolution in YouTube, the screen goes black and it automatically goes to 240p regardless of the resolution that I choose. It will play the video so long as it remains in its default resolution i.e. 360p or 240p. I also have Chrome downloaded and it has no issue changing between video resolution so I am assuming it is an issue with Safari. I reinstalled Flash and I tried resetting the computer but had no success with either of those attempts. Any ideas?
    Thanks!
    Dan

Thanks dschinkal! When I view You Tube clips on Safari and click the resolution adjuster to increase it (say, to 720), the screen goes black and I have to click refresh in order to reload the page. After which, it plays again at a low resolution.
This has happened since I bought my new iMac 27" a month ago.

  • So youtube html5 vidoes don't show resolutions over 720p anymore for some reason, even though yesterday i could watch 1080p 60fps just fine. Anyone know why?

Title pretty mutch sums it up. At youtube's html5 page Media source extensions and MSE & H.264 are not checked even though they were prior to this day(or atleast one of them was. My short term memory sucks). Now its back to having only 360p and 720p as the aviable resolutions. So i tried to search if mozilla changed something in the latest 36 beta 8 patch (which updated for me today), but didn't find anything. I Also tried to install 36 beta 7 but it didnt have any effect on the problem. So is the problem at Mozilla side (they changed something that i dont know?), or is just me? It all just seems so weird to me...

hello Keula, MSE was disabled again in firefox 36 beta 7 since it caused widespread stability issues (bug 1129039).
if you didn't have any problems in this regard, you can manually reenable it: enter '''about:config''' into the firefox address bar (confirm the info message in case it shows up) & search for the preference named '''media.mediasource.enabled''', double-click it and change its value to '''true'''.

  • Creating Hgh Resolution photo slideshow to upload to youtube

Hi, I've created a slideshow in iPhoto with 55 photos and a song to go with it. The highest export resolution there is is 640*480 and it comes out very blurry (especially when you try to enlarge it to full screen).
When i decided to try iDVD i realized it only exports to a dvd format and not to any kind of media that i can upload to you tube.
I don't think iMovie has a better option either.
All I'm looking for is to create a high resolution slideshow from my photos to share on youtube.
Does anyone have any suggestions....? I will be very grateful.

The following approach of creating a QT movie slideshow will give you the option of specifying a higher resolution in its width and height settings. Here's an example of a fast loading, looping embedded slideshow (not mine):
    http://www.heese-cadieux.com
    ...and done like this:
iPhoto > select photos > File > Export... > QuickTime tab ...set width and height, etc.
Then iWeb > Media button > Movies tab ...drag in your movie created above by iPhoto.
Then iWeb > Inspector > QuickTime tab ...settings.
Note: The above generates a QT slideshow of small file size and thus appears quickly in a web browser. But the transitions are limited to a simple "fade in and fade out" — no Ken Burns effect, etc.

  • Premiere Pro CS5 Export Flickers In YouTube On Certain Resolutions

As the title states, I've exported THIS video from Premiere Pro first without the letterboxing and then with it.
Everything plays fine on my computer with no issue. In fact, it wasn't until today that I noticed the flickering and it ONLY happens at very specific part of the video when I'm transitioning from actual recorded footage, to what is essentially a JPEG image of a white logo on a black background.
What's more, if I view the video in anything OTHER than 1080p, if flickers at this spot. The other video that I exported w/o any letterboxing was fine as far as I could tell all of yesterday, but now that too seems to suffer from the same problem at the same point in the video.
A few details about the process:
I created a new 'Title' and used the letterbox option under 'Matte' to create the letterboxing, and then shifted the actual source video up a bit as too much of her body was being cut off. I don't know if that may have contributed to this issue.
The JPEG that I've appended to the end of the video was created in Photoshop and has 1920x1080 dimensions.
The source file was: 1920x1080 (1.0); 23.98 fps; Progressive
The output was: 1920x1080 (1.0); 23.976 fps; Progressive; Profile: High; Target Bitrate: 50 Mbps; VBR, 2 Pass; Level: 5.1; Rendered at max depth; Frame Blending: YES; Max Render Quality: YES
It ONLY happens right around the transition from video to JPEG, but everything is fine at 1080p.

I did both of those things and unfortunately it doesn't seem to have done the trick.
I also tried clearing my cache, the YouTube cookies in the browser, as well as disabling an unoffical Chrome extension named YouTube Center that's meant to extend its capabilities, but could very well be screwing something up. None of those seem to have done much.
It seems that, depending on how it's feeling sometimes ONLY 1080p will work without flickering, and then sometimes 1080p will be the only resolution that it flickers on. But then sometimes that's only when the video window is set to the default size, and other times when set to fullscreen.
Could there be an issue with the way I transitioned from video footage to still image? I wouldn't think so, but I'm relatively new to this (I've only recorded, edited, and uploaded one other video to the a video-sharing site and that was Vimeo. No such flickering to be found.
ALSO: When using the "title" option to place the letterboxing over the video, for whatever reason the black bars didn't quite reach the very edges of the frame, whether at the top or on the sides. So...I opted to just enlarge those letterboxes just a bit outside of the margins, knowing that the final export would crop whatever excess lay outside the frame. Is that wrong way to do it?

  • After Effects Issue uploading to Youtube - Screen Resolution

    Hi All
I've been struggling lately trying to get my set of youtube videos to appear at the proper resolution and ideally fullscreen without the black bars at the side.
    Youtubes recommended sizes:
    1080p: 1920x1080
    720p: 1280x720
    480p: 854x480
    360p: 640x360
    240p: 426x240
My original videos are recorded in 1280x1024 which is what my screen resolution is set to, when I drop these videos into AE i set the comp size to 1280x1024 and i get a normal correct sized video. However when i render it out and upload it to the site I am given black bars down the side of the video and it does not appear full screen. (The quality is not great either if you do go fullscreen mode in the player - but the bars remain)
Now youtube state this is fine and works ok but as a personal preference i'd just like the video to fit the player.
but your not rendering at the recommended settings I hear you say; well, when I change the comp setting to 1280x720 i lose the top of my video and I am stuck as to how to fix it. Is the issue i'm having to do with the original video size, should i change resolution and record at 1280x720 (i dont have a widescreen) or is there a way around this in AE? I hope its not as easy as just scaling the video down in AE and forcing it to fit, something just feels wrong when I do that.
i would apprecaite any help! I really would.
    Simon
(Additional - Recorded at 30FPS and Output in H.284

You should be using the YouTube HD preset in the Adobe Media Encoder and your comps should be either standard HD 1080p or 720p. No matter what you upload to YouTube they will process the footage and set up the other resolution options.
The important thing here is that youTube videos are either 16X9 or 4X3. Anything not at that picture aspect will end up with black borders at the top or on the sides. There is absolutely no way to override this. It cannot be done. The only way you can provide non standard video frame sizes to the public over the Internet is to use a codec that supports odd frame sizes and load it on your own server. All streaming services have standards and they are the same frame size.
If you want to see your entire screen capture then you should either set your screen resolution to 1920 X 1080 and capture that or simply scale your screen capture footage or project so that it will fit into a standard HD comp.
Saving a few KB in file size is not what you are looking for. The best picture and sound quality you can get in a streaming format is. That can only be achieved using the Adobe Media Encoder. The YouTube Presets are already optomized for the best you can get with this software for this delivery format. There is no need to re-invent anything. Just use the presets.

  • YouTube Videos Now Higher Resolution?

Hi. Watching the YouTube videos on my Apple TV last night, I noticed that some of them seem to be much higher resolution than the same videos viewed in a web browser. Have Apple/Google changed the specs for YouTube videos? I know they're H.264 now, compared to Flash Video, but they definitely look higher-res than 320x240. Does anyone know what the official maximum resolution of YouTube video is now?

some of them seem to be much higher resolution
than the same videos viewed in a web browser.
I think the significance of this remains to be seen. YouTube's commercial value is the "eyeballs" its catalog attracts to the web site. Owner Google is very savvy at turning page views into piles of money. So ... will it eventually upgrade the web page resolution & (optionally?) switch to H.264 there or make the higher res stuff available only to Apple TV (or similar device) users?

  • Configure higher resolution on youtube app

    Hi,
I wonder whether we can configure higher resolution for video on youtube app on apple tv.
I upload an 1920x1080 video and when I play on apple TV, the resolution is very bad, it isn't 1920x1080.
    Thanks,
    Khuong

You mean resolutions over 480*320 (the current resolution over Wi-Fi)? Do you plan to play back them on an external TV / monitor? Otherwise, it's pretty useless to try to watch them on a 480*320 screen.
Nevertheless, on WinMo, CorePlayer is able to stream even HD content from YouTube. I can only hope Apple finally lets CorePlayer into the AppStore.

  • Retrieve what video resolutions(quality) a youtube video has, with youtube api or packet analysis

a youtube video is usually with multiple video resolutions (quality) like 240p, 360p,720p,etc how can I retrieve what video resolutions(quality) a youtube video has are there any youtube api which can get this information
I think If I capture the packets when I'm watching a video, by analysing the packets, definitely I can know what resolution this video provides but I don't know which part the packet provide this information does anyone know this? thanks!

I am no iPhone expert, but I believe it has to do with what connection you are using.
I noticed this the other day, I watched a YouTube vid the other day connected to my home wifi, and it looked amazing. Then I went to show a co-worker the same vid while on the 3g network. It looked like crap, all large pixels and blury. Anyway that is what I noticed.

  • YouTube slow, change resolution

    Hi,
I've realized that YouTube loads really slowly on the iPad when connected through wifi connection.
The reason behind this issue should be because YouTube app on ipqd is playing in 720p.
Does anyone know how to change the resolution as I do not need to view such high quality for certain videos and prefer it to load quicker?
    Thank you,

Use Safari... Open Safari an type in:
    http://m.youtube.com/
This will give you the mobil site and you can change the video resolution. After you enter the site click on the YouTube logo in the upper left to make sure the mobil page is loaded
