Youtube "Stop Download" option

What happened to the stop download option on youtube videos?
Will it come back?
Is there a way to force this function with flash player?
It would be nice to have this function to control if I want to hear a annoying ad or other video that plays whether I want it too or not.
I also find it useful to test my custom thumbnails instead of waiting up to 12 hours for Youtube to cache it.
Thanks

  • "Stop download"-option removed from Flash Player

    Hello,
i reinstalled my OS just recently and all system components including browser and Flash Player (11.8.800.94) as well, of course.
Just briefly after the installation i noticed there was no longer an option to "Stop downloading video" as used to be before. At first i was annoyed and i thought it concerned only me, but on the search for solutions i stumbled over this thread: http://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/youtube/7AMubhSadeY[1-25-false].
Moreover i experience loading problems with YouTube content which i solely blame on the removal of this feature. While of course i am in no position to demand anything i would appreciate if you'd consider reenabling it in a future release. In the meantime.. could you please make a previous version available for download?
    Pleeease?
    Kind Regards
    Sniperturtle

I think it was Youtube that removed the 'Stop download' feature.
Any earlier Flash Player version can be downloaded from http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/archived-flash-player-versions.html#Flash%20Player% 20archives

SO I'VE HAD THIS PROBLEM POP UP TOO!! plays 1-3 seconds then quickly does shorter each time.. then snow...
looked frick'n everywhere. only 2 things i found that worked.
    1. disable flash in chrome... this worked in the past, but did not fix it this time.
    2. this solution you wont even believe!!! plug in a set of headphones... BOOOM!!! it worked for me. i found it on some message board. youtube/flash looks for an audio output. when it doesnt find it the thing just dies...
now the question is how to find a solution to stop forcing youtube to look for audio.
i hope this works for you!!! i didn't believe it until i tried it. i was like no frick'n way!!!

  • Why has youtube video downloading stopped working?

Until a few days ago, I was able to play and download videos from YouTube. Then, for reasons inexplicable and confounding, they have stopped downloading altogether. My software program for downloading is Speedbit's Video Downloader which works just fine elsewhere. So what has caused the problem with YouTube?

Try Youtube (VEVO) video and audio downloader

  • Fascinate Market all of a sudden stopped downloading apps - pls help

I bought a Samsung Fascinate today. It never downloaded any apps.  I did a Master restart, and it started to download apps (about 4) - then it stopped downloading.  I click on "install," it says "application will download" and then it immediately says "download unsuccessful."
I called customer service at Verizon three times - spoke to their tech guys - and they recommended getting a new phone.
So, I went tonight and got a new phone. It was working great - downloading apps.
Then all of a sudden, it stopped downloading apps and every time I try to download anything, it says "download unsuccessful."
So it's not the phone, I gather.  I don't know what to do.  I'm so frustrated.
Thanks for any and all help you can offer.  I really like the phone and don't want to get a different one, but I need to be able to download apps.  Clearly, customer service/tech support is worthless (they were Googling the problem to help me - I can do that!).

Letstry some different steps to try to correct this problem.
First you would want to verify that you have the 3G coverage on the phone.
You can verify that information at the top, next to the signal bars.
Then could I get you to do a soft rest on the device.
    Press the Power key.
    Touch Power off.
    Touch OK.
Press the Power key to power on the device.
Then dial *228 send and option 1,  then dial *228 send and option 2.
If you are attempting to download the same application, try downloading a different application to see if you get the same error message.
    Then try this step:
From the home screen, select Applications.
    Select development,
    Then allow 3rd party applications.
Finally  before downloading applications try stopping the applications that are running in the background.
From the home screen, select Applications.
Select Running Services, Choose unnecessary applications and Force Stop.

  • Get Mail to Stop Downloading Junk from Exchange Server

Our company uses Comcast Business Class for email service. They in turn are running Exchange 2007 servers.
I recently had to reconfigure all my email accounts do to a corrupt Mail plist. Upon doing so, I found out about Mail 4.2's (Snow Leopard edition) ability to auto discover Exchange server configurations. Pretty nifty. With one caveat. Apple Mail is downloading all the Junk mail that winds up on the Exchange server. Which is quite a bit.
Originally, before the corrupt plist problem, my Mail 4.2 was upgraded from Leopard and the account information transferred using the non-auto discovery method, if you will. When it was setup that way, there were only about two or three Junk messages that breached the barrier per day. Now I'm getting dozens.
On to my question: is there a way to configure Mail to stop downloading Junk mail from an Exchange server and just leave the Junk on the Exchange server?

    Thanks, William.
They are, fortunately, being filtered into my Junk folder in Mail. There is the occasional culprit who sneaks through to my Inbox, but most wind up where they should. It's just the increase in volume to that Junk folder that has me concerned.
Additionally, if a non-Junk message gets erroneously tagged, I no longer have the option I once had to set the message as "This is not Junk". That used to appear as a graphic and button at the top of the message. It seems like I no longer have that capability.

  • Why are the download options no longer categorized as in flv, WMP, MP3 etc?

Why are the download options no longer categorized as in flv, WMP, MP3 etc?
All one gets from the download drop-down menu is:
(480p), (240p) or (360p) for example and the name of the video of course.
The way it is now, I cannot identify the type of video I am downloading as I could before.
    Thanks!

    Ubi,
Your assumptions are incorrect. Not all Youtube videos are offered in other formats; some are only offered in FLV format. Generally, only the very HD ones are offered in MP4. The format in which videos are offered are the decision of Youtube and/or the original poster of the video.
I opted to not pay for the VDH converter. There are FREE converters that will convert FLV to other formats, but they do not interface with VDH. Even the VDH converter is a 2-step process (in both manual or automatic mode). The converter that is included free with VDH will put an ugly icon/watermark on your converted video--every frame of the video. To find a free converter, just Google "free flv converter" (with the quotation marks).

  • Can I stop and deflate show before it stops downloading?

Can I stop and deflate show before it stops downloading?

Did you choose one of the secure erase options? If so, you can stop the process but if you want to do a secure erase, the next time you try it, it will start all over again overwriting every accessible sector on the HD & take just as long.

haven't tried it myself but saw this earlier in a blog somewhere:
    "try retro installing FF v3.6.3",
makes sense 'cos I've only been experiencing the same problem with mozilla & realplayer combo since updating to latest FF v3.6.4
noted that under IE realplayer plugin still works fine, button to 'download this video' comes on as before.....
from what I read retro install will pick up all your bookmarks etc. do no worries there
naughty, NAUGHTY mozilla people! you were 'bombproof' until today....what happened? good luck sorting it out though!!!! I still luv you!

  • Stopped downloading Podcasts 'cos not listened for few days

Why does I-Tunes stop downloading my Podcasts when I've not listened to them for a few days? How do I turn this annoying function OFF?

It's an option the Podcast producer has chosen to help save them money on downloads that are not listened to. Although Apple provide the function, the choice to set it is down to the Podcaster, not Apple.
This is not correct: it's inherent in iTunes, see this page:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TA23353
    which states:
You've subscribed to a podcast but have more than five unplayed episodes. iTunes will stop automatically downloading newer episodes. You may get the following message:
iTunes has stopped updating this podcast because you have not listened to any episodes recently. Would you like to resume updating this podcast?
You can click Yes to continue downloading additional episodes. Or you can just listen to any part of any episode and a new episode will download at the next update.
There is an AppleScript available which will apparently deal with this (I've not tried it):

  • How to stop downloading on startup?

How can I stop Mail downloading messages upon startup, apart from disconnecting from the net? I have the download options set to manual, but it doesn't seem to make any difference. As soon as I open the app, little clock starts to slowly turn and the inbox gets filled with all the messages on the server.
I want to have Mail completely empty prior to the changeover from Eudora.

    Mulder wrote:
If you want to not have Mail download anything so you
can switch from Eudora, then don't start Mail. If you
need to start Mail, then immediately go to
Mailbox>Online Status and choose Go Offline. Even if
your Preferences are set to manually check for Mail,
the app will do it automatically whenever you launch
    it.
Thanks. Are you saying then that there is no way to stop this behaviour? That seems to be a strange default, especially if downloading will wipe the messages off the server. It's also strange that a lot of people have told me that their client doesn't download automatically on launch. I've tried everything I can to stop it doing so, though, so I think you're right. But I'm puzzled.
(This was also the case for me with Panther, by the way)

  • Ffox31=downloaded Youtube Video Downloader x4=stiil not work?

I downloaded the add-on: "Youtube Video Downloader" FOUR TIMES but although it is showing on the list of add-ons under options, I have no icon/button or whatever in the toolbar to allow me to use it. I tried anyway thinking that it might be on auto but I was unable to download any U-Tube video.
What is the deal with this one?
I noticed that he is asking for 10 dollars, does that mean that until he gets paid there will be no activation?
I do not mind paying but I want to see if it works first!
    Any help welcome,
    Thank you.

    HI ArletteGH,
Please check to see if it is compatible with the most recent version of Firefox (32.0.3) as well as please see the support link provided for the addon on the addon's homepage.

  • Make iTunes STOP download automatically

Once a bought a song, but I didn't download it (it sounds weird, but it is a long story...). Than I bought few apps (I didn't download them also).
I have the Automatically check for Downloads option turned off, but once every few days iTunes downloads all my undownloaded items to my computer (1 GB). I have to stop it.
If I download an item and delete it, if doesn't download again. Do I have to download all the items and delete them???

    go to edit>playback>uncheck crossfade playback.
