Youtube Takes Forever to Buffer

Hey there,
Just picked up the new Apple TV - Youtube buffering takes forever.. it took about 10 minutes to buffer a 1 minute clip from youtube. Netflix streaming starts instantly, I have a solid 20mbps down connection, etc.
Has anyone else experienced this issue? I have heard some rumors that it may be linked to the Airport Extreme, although I am connected via ethernet.

  • Youtube takes forever to buffer on iphone 4s

    I don't know why but youtube takes forever to buffer videos. I didn't have this problem before, it just appeared randomly. Is it because i've been using up the phone storage? I only have 1 gb left. Thanks

    i know this may sound wierd but one thing you can do is hold the device in a different way. sometimes the way you hold your phone can block some wifi receptors and block a signal making it harder to buffer. if this does not work try to exit youtube in the multitasking feature. If this also does not work you can restart the device bu holding the power/sleep button and the home button until the device powers off and restarts itself.
    Hope this helps!

  • Imac running slow - youtube takes forever to load

    Hi, My computer is running really slowly and most notably when I try to watch youtube videos - they are taking forever to load
    Suggestions ?

    In Finder right click your HD (it's probably called iMac HD) in the left pane. Choose Get Info.
    As to find out how much RAM it has click the Apple Symbol in the upper left corner of this screen and choose "About This Mac." To see how much Free RAM it has open Activity Monitor (Applications - Utilities - Activity Monitor) then click the System Memory tab and in the lower left corner let us know how much:
    Free
    Wired
    Active
    Inactive
    Used
    RAM it has.

  • YouTube takes forever to load videos

    What is going in here? Great connection, 10 feet from router, MacBook Pro loads videos fine. It literally takes 20 minutes to load a video that is a couple minutes long. Can anyone help me?

    Hello,
    I had this problem as well. When I first purchased my iPad, I realized that YouTube was loading videos extremely slow. It lasted for about 1-2 weeks, after that everything worked fine. From time to time, YouTube DOES load vides quite slow, but then I wait 1-2 days & the problem's gone.

  • Why don't videos don't play smoothly? They take forever to buffer

    I'm running FireFox 11.o on Windows XP. I clean my history and cookies. I defrag. My add-ons and plug-ins are up to date. I've gone into about;config and played with the dom.ipc.plugins and changed them true/false each one. Why won't the videos I want to watch play smoothly? I use VLC media player and Windows media player and enabled and disabled each one to see if a video will play better on one or the other. No change on the players. Can you recommend anything else I can do to see why videos won't play smoothly?
    Thanks in Advance.

    try firefox in safe mode and see whether it is happening again

  • All CBS, Youtube & Xinmsn videos fail to play on Firefox 4.0 all day long. Once 12 am (Singapore Time), ALL videos start to play Perfectly. Even Headline News takes forever to download until midnight, such problem suddenly disappears. WHY?

    '''My Fujitsu laptop is one-month old. Initially I use IE8 and had problem watching videos. Once, an Action Message appeared advising me my API Driver is not working and directed me to HP instead. Fujitsu advised me it's a malware and a scan of Malicious Software Removal Tool was executed, nothing was detected. Ive had Norton Internet Security on my laptop. I switched to Firefox 4.0. All videos - CBS, Youtube and Xinmsn videos fail to play during the day, between 1 pm till night (11 pm). The only time every of these videos start playing Perfectly is around Midnight 12 am. (Singapore Time). This happens every day and night. How is it that during the day and night, every site including Headline News takes forever to download (transferring data takes unusually long time) but around midnight, such problem instantly disappears (and I can download sites very fast)? Also, ALL videos malfunction all day long till night but miraculously return to perfect function around midnight. This is real weird. Can some kind soul help me with this please? ''"

    i would suggest you backup and reformat the windows.
    Previously i also encounter similar error you encountered found out is malware attack, some of the antivirus are not even able to detect them. There are alot of users posted online which you can google around.
    i had tried remove the malware using those so-called malware removal but things gets worst. So finally i reformat the Windows and everything go back to normal.
    Personal advice, don't click or install those unknown message prompted from website. No antivirus or malware protection software can prevent this if you are letting then to get in your system.
    Cheers and hope i did help you in resolving your error.

  • Why does it take forever to download a clip from youtube or a movie its impossible to watch

    When I try to download from youtube my mac takes forever only allowing a few min viewing at a time, same with movies and music clips

    Download 10.6.8 update
    run a speed test
    http://www.apple.com/support/networking
    change your DNS to OpenDNS or something else
    Maybe your ISP throttles
    If you use DSL and have DSL filters on phones, those things can fail and affect bandwidth and need to be replaced ($5-8)
    then again, not knowng wired / wireless or Lion vs SL
    Did it just start? why? what changed?

  • Takes forever to load YouTube or anything else. Network works fine on iPad and iPhone.

    My new Apple TV takes forever to load up you tube or any content
    Using wifi.  My network is fine and all other devices have no issue
    Loading same content. I have updated the latest software
    and did not help.

    Spent 1.5 hours with a Senior Apple Advisor. Apple practically turned my iMac inside out determining nothing is wrong.  He said the key phrase to tell Verizon and earthlink is that the ping does not respond.  Ports 110 & 587 do not respond.
    1 hour with a Verizon rep who initiated a 3 way call with earthlink.
    2 hours with an earthlink person who claims the only ports to use are the ones I have.  I don't believe that.
    Problem is still not solved.
    At this point earthlink has opened a ticket and is supposedly looking into this.  I do not have much hope of a response from them.
    Does anyone have an alternative mail client to rec'd?

  • Creating the index takes forever

    Hi,
    I'm trying to index ~1100 PDF documents, who size varies between 20KB and 4MB, those PDF are stored in two directories on our Web server, so I use a URL_DATASTORE to get them. I have a column that contains the correct URL to the PDF, the column is a VARCHAR2(2000). 55% of documents are in French, the 45% remaining are English documents. I created this set of preferences :
    begin
    ctx_ddl.create_preference('AAPDF_DATA_PREF','URL_DATASTORE');
    ctx_ddl.set_attribute('AAPDF_DATA_PREF','NO_PROXY','acaiq.com');
    ctx_ddl.set_attribute('AAPDF_DATA_PREF','Timeout','60');
    end;
    begin
    ctx_ddl.create_preference('LEXIQUE_ANGLAIS','BASIC_LEXER');
    ctx_ddl.set_attribute('LEXIQUE_ANGLAIS','index_themes','no');
    ctx_ddl.set_attribute('LEXIQUE_ANGLAIS','index_text','yes');
    ctx_ddl.set_attribute('LEXIQUE_ANGLAIS','theme_language','english');
    end;
    begin
    ctx_ddl.create_preference('LEXIQUE_FRANCAIS','BASIC_LEXER');
    ctx_ddl.set_attribute('LEXIQUE_FRANCAIS','index_themes','no');
    ctx_ddl.set_attribute('LEXIQUE_FRANCAIS','index_text','yes');
    ctx_ddl.set_attribute('LEXIQUE_FRANCAIS','theme_language','french');
    end;
    begin
    ctx_ddl.create_preference('LEXIQUE_GLOBAL','MULTI_LEXER');
    ctx_ddl.add_sub_lexer('LEXIQUE_GLOBAL','DEFAULT','LEXIQUE_ANGLAIS');
    ctx_ddl.add_sub_lexer('LEXIQUE_GLOBAL','french','LEXIQUE_FRANCAIS','fre');
    end;
    begin
    ctx_ddl.create_preference('PREF_FUZZY', 'BASIC_WORDLIST');
    ctx_ddl.set_attribute('PREF_FUZZY','FUZZY_MATCH','FRENCH');
    ctx_ddl.set_attribute('PREF_FUZZY','FUZZY_SCORE','30');
    ctx_ddl.set_attribute('PREF_FUZZY','FUZZY_NUMRESULTS','200');
    ctx_ddl.set_attribute('PREF_FUZZY','SUBSTRING_INDEX','TRUE');
    ctx_ddl.set_attribute('PREF_FUZZY','STEMMER','FRENCH');
    end;
    And I created the index with this DML :
    CREATE INDEX ACAIQ.aapdf_index ON AA_PDF(AAPDF_CONTENU) INDEXTYPE IS ctxsys.context PARALLEL 1 PARAMETERS ('datastore AAPDF_DATA_PREF lexer LEXIQUE_GLOBAL language column AAPDF_LANGUE_ISO wordlist PREF_FUZZY memory 10M');
    The problem is that it takes forever to create the index. I started the create process yesterday after lunch, and it still running :-/ I looked at my Web server logs and I do see my Oracle server fetching the PDF, but it fetch ~12 PDF per hour.
    I'm doing this on our test server, it's a P4 1.4 Ghz with RedHat Linux 8 and Oracle 9i 9.2.02. It's not a fast server, but still I don't think it's normal to take 24 hours to index about 1 GB of data.

    I recreated the index with a 50M memory parameter instead of 10M. It don't speed up the process, in 40 minutes it only indexed 17 documents.
    vmstat stats when indexing the PDF documents :
    # vmstat -n 15

  • You tube and other videos take forever or keep starting and stoping

    youtube and other online videos take forever to open or keep starting and stopping

    First thing to check is your actual download speed. Services, especially cable internet providers, say their top speed is "up to" some value. Cable internet is a shared resource so, should someone on your node be hosting online games or hosting a file sharing site from their computer, they are robbing you of bandwidth.
    Try this speed tester:
    http://speedtest.net/
    and compare the results to what your ISP says you can get at max. Also try the test at different times of the day.
    If the test shows you are consistently getting only a fraction of what the top-rated speed should be, contact your provider. They can see if there is a problem in your area. Old cable, oxidized connectors, and neighbors hogging the resource are things they can address.

  • Facebook won't load properly. Takes forever and then I get a script page with log-in and then that takes forever and gives me further script that won't let me access anything. Other sites load and work OK!

    Started after last auto update several days ago. A few other sites are slow to load while many are good but Facebook just won't present it's usual mix of pre-programmed scripts and links but comes up eventually as part HTML script with a log-in box and when you log-in it then takes forever again and just gives HTML type script for "Friends" "messages" etc. but if you click these it goes nowhere!
    Also it won't let me clear history at all despite many tries. I removed and reloaded the program last night but no positive effect.

    I still haven't resolved this problem. Here is some more information...
    youtube is the only website that has started working, but it sometimes stops working again.
    There are many other sites that don't work, cnn.com, washingtonpost.com (sometimes), and a lot of others.
    I have contacted our internet service provider and they said that they had nothing to do with the problem.
    Some websites will not work at all. Safari tells me that it can't find the server. Some that do this are ups.com, computerworld.com, and others.
    I think that the problem is that, for some reason, our mac computers can't access certain servers where we are. (We are at a small ski resort (on the mountain) in Canada.) I think this because when a site doesn't load properly there are several errors and they are all "can't find host" errors from a couple of the same sites (ex. example.something.something).
    *Also, I ran a test on speedtest.net on the laptop and one of our iMacs and the results were way faster than anything actually loads/downloads or than the activity monitor shows, even when checking the activity monitor at the same time as running the test.

    I'm trying to use the apple TV. I've hooked it up and found that any video downloading takes forever. A 1 minute video I shot yesterday took 20 minutes to download and watch on the Apple TV. A movie trailer took 20 minutes. Whats wrong????

    I am trying to figure it out, I have done everything
    I had this around the end of Jan for about a week then I did some changes in my firewall and allwas good ( or so I thought) for 2 weeks and now its back again since Friday ( thats when I noticed it)
    I have done the following
    refreshed my connection
    speedtest
    unpluged it
    check my pc firewall again and added anything to do with Apple and itunes to the exceptions list
    check my router firewall and settings myself and with my cable comp
    I also called my anti-virus/Firewall tech supp and could not find a thing
    youtube netflix work fine but streaming a 2 min 33 sec trailer from itunes takes for ever and I see the white bar downloading
    I can stream TV shows but like 20 min for it to be ready sometimes an hour
    I am also seeing downloads from itunes store for a 22 min show take 3 hours
    I have tried everything on my part. even downloaded a show from zune that was done fast as itunes used be, infact Thursday it was working fine (Itune store downloads)
    something is up with the itune store because there is nothing more I can do
    I even have a signal booster in my living room to make sure the family room and kitchen get a good signal
    my apple tv is in the next room where the modem is and router
    I also am having the same download issues on 2 computers and a ApTV2

  • Firefox use to be real quick when I first went online, now it takes forever for my homepage to come up, what is going on?

    Ever since this last update whenever I go online it takes forever for my homepage to come up. Is anyone else having the same trouble with Firefox? Use to I could click the icon and right there was the internet now I have to wait and wait and wait. I am about ready to leave Firefox. Another thing it does too, is if I go and look at a youtube video, then when I do open my homepage that youtube video becomes my homepage, instead of what my homepage should be. I am getting so so frustrated. Someone please give me some help on this.

    * The first time you start up any application after turning on your computer is called a cold start, which is why Firefox takes a while to load right away. (I've noticed that future versions of Firefox start up faster on a cold start then Firefox 5.0.1.) Also, a lower amount of RAM could be slowing its start-up down since Firefox is kind of memory hungry.
    * As for the second part of your question, press ctrl,Alt, and the delete keys on your keyboard. The Windows Task Manager should start. Go to the processes tab and look for 'firefox.exe'. Right click on the firefox.exe and click 'End Process'. Hit Yes and wait for a minute.
    * Then opening Firefox again.
    Hopefully this helped somewhat!

  • K7N2 Delta ILSR Takes forever to boot.

    Specs:
    K7N2 Delta ILSR Mobo
    Athlon xp 2500
    Kingston Hyper X 2700 DDR 512mb (its on the list)
    Geforce 2MX 32mb AGP videocard (I dont play games)
    3 Com 56k Win Modem
    IBM GXP120 60 gig ata133 Hard drive
    Pine 12X DVD drive
    LG 24x10x48 CD Burner
    Antec 300W power supply
    The problem is that it takes forever to install and boot windows with faster processors for some reason. I origianlly built this system with my old Athlon 1.33 and it had these problems.  I then tried a 900mhz athlon and it worked great, so I figured I damaged my 1.33 somehow.  I ordered a 2500+ and a zalmann cpu cooler and now am back to where I was, when the system starts it  seems very unstable and the screen goes blank for 10 minutes while its booting.  It shows about 3 seconds of the starting windows screen then the screen will go blank for a while anf there will be no hard drive activity then it will come back about 10 minutes later and then boot.  Sometimes the system will work fine then sometimes I cant even open my computer i just get the searching flashlight icon where my drives should be.  I have updated to the lastet BIOS.  Also while installing windows I get ocasional long pauses where it is doing nothing at all then it will just magically conitnue and do it in a fashion I would expect a machine of this speed to do.

    Hmm not sure about the cable position on the CD drives, ill have to check that when I get home.  All the jumpers are set correcly, and the hard drive is all by itself and its on the right connector.  Thanks for the ideas, this problem is really killing me, I havent had these kind of hardware problems in years.  The thing I dont get is why it works good with the 900mhz and not with the 1.33 or 2500+
