Youtube video loss on Safari 5.0.3 in 32bit

When switching Safari 5.0.3 to 32bit mode (Applications->Safari->GetInfo) to "support" using Xfinity (comcast) MoveNetworks plugin, I lose videos on youtube (audio only).
Workaround is to run Safari in 64-bit and use Firefox to view Xfinity.com using Firefox.
When Safari is in 32-bit am I having a plug-in issue? If so, do I reinstall the plugins with Safari in 32bit?
Thanks.
Happy and bugless 2011 to all !

I have 10.6.5 and Safari 5.0.3 on my MacBook Pro and just checked a bookmarked YouTube video. It ran full screen without a menu bar showing, so that eliminates this as a universal problem.
When I apply any updates, patches etc offered from Software Update, I repair permissions both before and after the install. That's an easy thing to try if you did not do so after the last update.

    My name is Ameer.
    I watch youtube videos from ipad2 ( safari )
today for my first time, when i run a video and i want to pause it, i touch the screen where the video is playing to reach the pause botton that is located on a bar under the video which appears when i touch the screen. Today every time i touch the screen nothing happens and i cannt pause the video nor adjusting its quality.
So plese help me fixing this problem as soon as posible.
    Regards

Same problem on my ipad mini, running ios 6.0.2.
    A bit more info:
-tried using YouTube in Safari on another ipad. Worked fine.
Tried reboot (sleep + home buttons for 15 seconds). Didn't fix.
-tried logging out of my YouTube account, thinking the problem was tied to my settings. Didn't fix.
-tried uninstalling all apps I downloaded since the last time YouTube worked properly. Didn't fix.
-tried watching a video in desktop mode. Can tap video screen to bring up pause okay in that mode.
There are work arounds, but the thing I want to know is why YouTube doesn't work in Safari as of a couple of days ago, and is it indicative of another more serious problem with my ipad.

  • After update to iOS 6.0.1, YouTube videos black in Safari

I just updated to iOS 6.0.1. I now find that whenever I try to open a YouTube video in Safari, the video is all black, and there are no video controls. Even after waiting a long time nothing appears.  Along the right side of the YouTube webpage, I can see the thumbnails of other videos. But it's the main video that is all black.
I've been using this iPad 3 since March 2012, when I originally had iOS 5. Through all the iOS updates, I never had this sort of problem with YouTube videos in Safari. But of course under iOS 5, I viewed YouTube videos mainly in the YouTube video app, which we no longer have an iOS 6.
This problem only occurs in Safari. I also have the Mercury browser on my iPad, and YouTube videos play perfectly fine in that browser. And yes, I know how to press the home button twice, and then close the Safari app, and then relaunch it. I have done that many times but the problem is not resolved in Safari.
Furthermore, this problem seems to only afflict YouTube in Safari and not any other video sites such as Vimeo. I can open Vimeo videos in Safari just fine.
Any advice on how to resolve this YouTube video problem would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.

I also restarted my iPad by holding down the Home and Home buttons until the Apple logo appeared.  But YouTube videos are still black, with no controls showing.
    Please help!

  • Since May 9th 2012, youtube video download in Safari doesn't work

Anyone else found that downloading music and video files in Safari by right clicking the file in the activity pane in Safari now doesn't work?
The downloader add-ons in Firefox still fine...

Yes, I am also having this problem but it seems to be just related to YouTube.
Other video sites e.g. Vimeo is fine.
    Any thoughts?

  • Youtube videos not working safari 8.0

Since upgrading to Yosemite 10.10 and Safari 8.0 I can not get YouTube videos to play.  I've updated everything offered by Apple.  But still no go.

    1. System Preferences >  Flash Player > Advanced >  Delete  All
         Press the "Delete All" button.
         Install Adobe Flash Player.
        http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
       Download it first.
       The next step is important.
Click Safari in the menubar and select “Quit Safari”.
Follow the prompts and install it.
        Restart computer. Relaunch Safari.
    2.  Allow  Plug-ins
        Safari > Preferences > Security
        Internet Plug-ins >  "Allow  plug-ins"
        Enable it.

  • Cannot comment on YouTube videos in the Safari 8.0

I recently was watching some videos via Safari on my Mac Mini and when I tried to comment or reply to a comment on YouTube all it does is pause for a brief second and then pops up a VERY fast window that immediately goes away. Everything I have tried does not work. Alternatively I use Chrome as well and I can comment fine with that browser but with Safari I get nothing.
Is there anyone else having this problem or am I the only one? Also and I don't know if this is related, I was recently on YouTube just browsing around my everyday channels and I clicked on a suggested video. I was using Safari 8.0 when this happened as well. When I clicked on the video it seemed to reroute me to some advertisement page about hooking up with girls. I was dumbfounded to be honest because I am VERY security conscious about my browsing and do EVERYTHING by the book when it comes to Safari and safety. Anyway this page seemed like a forced pop-up Malware page that you would get via Windows or something. The page FORCED me to click the "Leave Page" button in order to exit the window and when I did it did indeed take me back to the YouTube page I was trying to access.
I don't know if these two instances are related but like I said I am very conscious about security and privacy via my Mac. I stay very careful and NEVER EVER thought I would experience this via YouTube on Safari. Let me know if you know anything about the situation or have experienced similar. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Adding those to my exceptions fixed it, thanks. As if I was not mad enough at Google, they seem to want to force tracking you for advertising.

  • Youtube Video Search in Safari - Blank Page

    Hi everyone,
Just got my new iMac last night and it's great so far. Only thing is, when I go to search for a video on Youtube, the results displayed is just a white page. It will say there are however many results - i.e. 578,000 and display the number of pages, but everything is just blank! No videos at all. I do have Flash installed.
Is anyone else having this problem or can help me? thanks so much.

One of the following steps should help.
    1. Install Adobe Flash Player.
        http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
        Restart computer. Relaunch Safari.
    2.  Enable Plug-ins
        Safari > Preferences > Security
        Web Content:
Click in the box for "Enable Plug-ins".
    3. Check  whether you are currently  in  YouTube HTML 5 trial.
         http://www.youtube.com/html5
At the bottom  left of the page  uncheck the box for
"You are currently in the HTML5 trial".

  • Youtube videos "vibrate" in Safari.

When using Safari, watching videos in Youtube, they are almost vibrating in a way. This does not occur in Chrome or Firefox. Also, the videos talking about the iPad Air and Mac Pro on apple.com play perfectly fine in Safari. I know these are most likely in html5 format instead of utilizing flash. I have also attempted un-installing Flash, and re-installing. Reverting back to an older version of Flash, deleting my flash cache and deleting all temp data in Safari, still no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

For anyone else that was viewing this. I managed to correct the issue myself, the fix is listed below.
Open Safari, then at the top, click on Safari > Preferences > Privacy > Details, then clcik inside of the search field, type in Youtube, remove all results that come up associated with Youtube. Then completely close Safari using your Command + Q keys. Restart Safari and go to youtube, the videos should now play without issue.

  • Embedded youtube videos blank in safari - ipad - iOS 6.1

Title says it all - I've tried everything I've read about trying and nothing works - been a problem for the last couple months.  Anybody else experiencing the same problem and found a fix to it?

Wouldn't know which video to watch since all I see is a big blank white spot where folks embed videos on the web.  Takes away the need for a hyperlink so how would I ever find what was embedded?
Have to say it brings the user friendliness of the iPad and iOS down tremendously in my opinion.
Very disappointed if what you say is accurate as a global, "it just ain't gonna work no more," statement.  It's like a book with pages ripped out.
Can I scrap 6 and reinstall 5 so it'll work as it had for the past year or two?

  • Safari won't play youtube videos anymore. I've never had trouble in the past. I switched to chrome but then back to safari and changed the default browser to safari. Now safari won't open any sites that require a user and password. Any suggestions?

    Hello everyone,
I've recently been getting error messages on youtube videos when using safari. This never used to happen. I tried using chrome but it didn't take care of the problem. When I set my default browser back to safari, safari won't open any websites that require a username and password. Any suggestions?

My case is different from those listed below.  First, I'm running OS X 10.8.5 and Safari 6.0.5.
    My problem is this:
I run a Google search, say, "youtube somesong", and from the hit list returned from google I
pick some selection. Youtube launches and plays the video without problems.  However, when
i click on any of the alternate videos from the page's  vertical list, only the name of the chosen video
appears beneath the video I just watched.  The new selection itself is not loaded by Safari.
This occurs for any selection I choose.  My way around this problem is to force a Safari reload of
the page by using the keyboard shortcut, Command-R.  This fills in the old video window with the
video I just chose.  Can I conclude that this is a Safari issue alone, or is it a Safari/Youtube combo gotcha?  Anyway, the present condition *****.
This problem began sometime after i upgraded to Mountain Lion.  I have reset Safari and have also
deleted the Youtube.com Cache, Cookies, and Local Storage from the Privacy settings under
System Preferences. I have also tested the problem by running Safari in 32 bit mode (no luck there).
If anyone out there has experienced this scenario, I sure could use a little help here.

  • Safari Cannot Load Complete YouTube Videos

    Hello everyone,
A couple days back, I've been facing the problem with playing back any YouTube videos properly in Safari. All the videos just stop loading a few seconds before the end, and their playback is therefore interrupted prematurely. Now I'd like to note that I already tried to fix the issue using various methods:
uninstalling the current version of Flash player and installing the latest version provided by Adobe
    clearing Safari's cache
    disabling hardware acceleration in Flash
    disabling HTML5 mode in YouTube
None of these actions had any effect; the problem persists relentlessly.
It's quite frustrating: I'm quite new to OS X, as I bought my iMac only a month ago. Through the whole time, however; I really can't say I would ever notice Safari getting YouTube right. The problems with YouTube video playback have been there all the time; the one described above is the only existing one currently, the others having disappeared with the previous version of YouTube's website.
Any help to be wholeheartedly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,
    Mike

    Quit Safari ...
Open System Preferences > Flash Player then select the Storage tab. Click: Delete All
    Relaunch Safari. Try YouTube.

  • Youtube not working in Safari

Hello, this is my first post.
Recently I have been experiencing a problem with running youtube videos in the Safari browser. It started to happen spontaneously about 1-2 weeks ago, and so far has not changed.
If I click a video to play (embedded like in faecbook or on another website or directly from the youtube page), the video tries to load but it never does. Usually, the page reloads (like if I had clicked the refresh button) a few times, then times-out. All other tabs currently opened in Safari are affected as well, just like I have clicked refresh on each tab. When I click on a tab to open it, it refreshes and I have to load each page separately.
The youtube video never loads at all, and usually i have to close the browser completely...
I thought this might have been a problem on the youtube page, but no one else is experiencing these problems...
I also tried to update Abode flash player, but this made no difference. My software on the mac are also up-to-date.
So far I havent found a solution to this problem so any help is appreciated. I think the problem is with Safari, so I was thinking to reinstall it, but so far have seen on these forums that this is not so easy to do.
    Please help!

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select Help from the menu bar, and enter “Set up a guest account” (without the quotes) in the search box.
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
As Guest, launch the application(s) and test. Same problem(s)?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
    Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on some Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode.) Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

  • Updated to IOS6 on my iPad 2. Now I do not get sound with YouTube videos. Anyone know a fix?

Ever since I updated my IOS to six I have not been able to get sound when playing YouTube videos in the safari browser. Does anyone know of a fix for this?

I had the same problem there is no fix except to go to Apple store and get a replacement phone. Or buy a newer phone. I tried everything as well. SIM Card, Restore, etc.  Try to do a full restore and add the phone back into Itunes as a new phone not from the back-up and see if that works first. If it doesn;t get a new phone. Then when you get the new phone set it up as a new phone as well do not use your back-up or the same thing will happen. Stay using 4.3.3 until version 5.01 comes out which will hopefully be soon

  • New Flash Plugin update with hardware acceleration freezes Youtube videos

Hello, two days ago i got a prompt for a new flash plugin update, saying that now it was able to use hardware acceleration on MAC too. I did the update but i noticed that with hardware acceleration enabled, any youtube video i see, safari freezes. Seems like it's loading continuously (even if the progress bar of the video is already red). But as soon as i disable hardware acceleration, all goes back as normal, no freeze. What's the problem? Using the last safari version.

    HI,
There's an article here you might want to read.
