Youtube videos not working in safari

running os x 10.7.2 and for some reason youtube videos not playing.  just started happening.  black box is all i get.  youtube works fine in Chrome & Firefox.

I found a fix that worked on my computer. Go to Safari > Preferences > Privacy > Remove all website data. This got my YouTube functioning properly again.

  • YouTube Videos not working in Safari on iPad 2

When I use YouTube in Safari on my iPad 2, I noticed that the official music videos are not working in YouTube. I get an error message which states "Video cannot be played on mobile." Below is a link to the all time most watched videos. Not music videos (Video # 5) play fine on my iPad but the official music videos (Videos 1 - 4) do not.

    Thanks

These videos are restricted and can not be played on a mobile device... These videos have come up before in this forum. The record companies have placed a flag on these video so they can't be played on a mobile device. If you look at the URL for the video you will notice it is a mobile web page... http://m.YouTube...
Anyone can place this flag in their video on YouTube. The flag can be set in the settings/edit for each video.
If you have flash on your mobile device and don't go to the mobile web page you can play the video.

  • YouTube will not work on safari for me on the ipad. Is there anyway to fix this? I can go anywhere else on the internet fine and it works on google chrome, but on safari it shows a blank screen with the bar on top after it loads.

YouTube will not work on safari for me on the ipad. Is there anyway to fix this? I can go anywhere else on the internet fine and it works on google chrome, but on safari it shows a blank screen with the bar on top after it loads, if it's even loading at all.
I do not know if it's relevant or not, but I got a message on my ipad while on safari saying that my iPhone has a virus. I looked it up and it seems it might have just been an ad from the website I was on, but it happened around the same time YouTube stopped working.

You will find that using the YouTube app will provide a better viewing experience for YouTube videos.

NYT videos not working in Safari 5

Work fine for me - they are just normal Flash videos.
Make sure your Flash Player is up to date.
The latest version of Adobe FlashPlayer can be obtained from here:
    http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1ProdVersion=ShockwaveFlash
(You can check here: http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/ to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS.
You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_14157
and also that you follow the instructions closely, such as closing ALL applications first before installing. You must also carry out a permission repair after installing anything from Adobe.

  • Embedded Youtube videos not working on Chrome 23 / Flash player 11.5.31.2

For the past couple of weeks, I've not been able to play any Youtube videos that appear as embedded videos on other websites.  The small player appears with the still frame from the video and all the controls, but on pressing play, the video goes blank and won't play (the slider stays stuck at 0:00).  Nor does the full screen button work - the player just stays where it is within the third party website.  This problem has occurred across more than one website, but all sites still work in Internet Explorer.
The main Youtube site is still working.
I have tried all relevant steps here, to no avail (except increasing memory for a particular website, since not just one website is affected):
    http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/flash-player-games-video-or.html
    Details:
    Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit
    Google Chrome 23.0.1271.64 m
    Flash Player 11,5,31,2
    Any suggestions please?
    John

Thank your for your reply, Chris.
I installed the newest version of Chrome, and the videos I have
embedded on my blog are now working.
    Regards,
    Frank

  • YOUTUBE video not running in safari 7.0.5, it keep saying error n lack screen appears .

Since last 3 days youtube video is not running in my safari 7.0.5 - OS X 10.9.4, I tried all things but still the issue remains, what should i do ?

Unless you mention exactly what you have tried that didn't work, we have no way of knowing.
Open System Preferences > Flash Player then select the Advanced tab.
Click Delete All under Browsing Data and Settings
    Not empty the Safari cache.
From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Advanced tab.
Select:  Show Develop menu in menu bar
Now click Develop from the menu bar. From the drop down menu click Empty Caches.
Now try a video. If that doesn't help, back to your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Privacy tab.
    Click:  Remove All Website Data
Quit and relaunch Safari. Try a video.

  • YouTube video not working

I used to watch youtube videos everyday on my ipad2, it worked well until a few days ago.
I can see thumbnail of the video fine, but when it started to load after a while it said " an error occurred , pls try later",
I tried it repeatedly with the same result, i also try to open it through my iPhone5, iphone4s , Mac , but it's not working anywhere, it's only working on my laptop , but not with internet explorer , only on google chrome....
This really confuse me since a few days ago everything was fine
I have tried reset ipad , restarting it, reset my wifi connection, remove all website data, deleted history n cookies....updated my ipad , updated safari, updated flash player.... Etc

Contact YouTube and see if something is wrong on their end. Your's is the fourth post in two  days with the same problem.

  • Embedded YouTube videos not working

    Hello,
Embedded YouTube videos used to work fine up until a few days ago but they have stopped working in all browsers. I use Safari, Firefox and Netscape Navigator.
I am using Mac OS X (10.6.3) and have just conducted a software update and installed a fresh version of flash. This can't be a browser problem because it is not working on any of the browsers. I am having problems viewing embedded YouTube videos on such sights as Blip.fm, Facebook, etc but they used to work fine a couple of weeks ago.
Is this a problem with flash? or Mac OS X?

Another me too. In particular the symptoms are this:
+ any YouTube video embedded within a webpage loads the poster frame and the controls, but after clicking the play button only shows the progress indicator briefly before showing "An error occurred, please try again later." within the video frame.
+ the same YouTube videos play fine on the YouTube site.
+ other Internet video plays fine, embedded or not.
+ when the error occurs Safari reports "One error in opening the page. For more information, choose Window > Activity".
    + the Activity window shows "forbidden" for http://v13.lscache4.c.youtube.com/videoplayback?ip=0.0.0.0&sparams=id%2Cexpire%2 Cip%2Cipbits%2Citag%2Calgorithm%2Cburst%2Cfactor%2Coc%3AU0dWSVhMVV9FSkNNNl9QRllH &fexp=900028&algorithm=throttle-factor&itag=34&ipbits=0&burst=40&sver=3&expire=1 274817600&key=yt1&signature=C15947474FA80C9A1B9DA597103C5FF7D621A478.0C1490DE456 5D519F602B0043A4E1F9D800417A0&factor=1.25&id=c3e8886e8b459334
+ the same URL downloads fine when visiting YouTube directly, except the signature value is different.
    I have tested the following:
+ the same computer worked fine a week or so ago
+ other computers on the same shared ADSL connection work fine
+ Firefox works fine (contrary to other's experiences)
    + deleting com.apple.Safari.plist doesn't help
    + disabling/enabling the "Enable Plug-ins" preference doesn't help
    + deleting Preferences/Macromedia folder doesn't help
    + reinstalling Flash doesn't help
    + empty cache doesn't help
    Tis quite perplexing.

  • Youtube videos not working

not sure if i'm posting this in the right place... sorry if i am.
basically youtube movies not playing, if i were to click on a video on the homepage it won't play. or if i click on a related video, still nothing, just a black screen, no audio, video, nothing. they only play if i were to click on the users channel.
now the only way i got a video to play was uninstall flash and reinstall flash and whatever video i clicked on would play but if i were to go to another video same results as above, black screen, no audio or video. any advice, do i have to change the settings or something.
thanks in advance for any help,
    Royce

Hi, I was having that same problem.
So go to: Applications/Safari>right click on the mouse>Get info>Click to open in 32bit.
It worked for me. You can also enter Youtube's HTML5 webpage. The controls will appear again, but it's not as good as the Flash website and many videos haven't been changed to H264 format. I hope youtube changes it's entire website to HTML5 stuff, Flash is not good.
