Youtube videos show blank

If I go to Youtube, all videos show blank. No video. No playback. Nothing. Just a blank white area where the video should be. No problem with Firefox. What is going on?
Safari 4.0.5 on Mac OS X 10.6.3.

HI,
Try uninstalling then reinstalling a new copy of the Flash Player plugin which is required for YouTube content.
Uninstall Flash
Install Flash
Then Repair Disk Permissions
Quit any open applications/programs. Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and *restart your Mac.*

Answers in this forum have shown different things have worked for different people.
For some clearing YouTube cookies and the cache solved the problem. For details of how to do that see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Deleting+cookies and https://support.mozilla.com/kb/How+to+clear+the+cache
Others had to go a step further after deleting YouTube cookies and block YouTube from saving cookies. In the Tools menu select Options to open the Options window. Go to the Privacy panel and make sure it is set to "Use custom setting for history". Click the Exceptions button, type in http://www.youtube.com and click on Block
Another option is to disable hardware acceleration for Flash. To do that right-click on a Flash video, select Settings, go to the first tab of the settings for the option to enable/disable hardware acceleration for Flash. This is something recommended by YouTube for those having problems - http://www.google.com/support/youtube/bin/answer.py?&answer=1209379

my iphone 5s was stolen and i gps d it and found where it was but they turned it off and denied it and i googled how to open iphone 5s without passcode and a youtube video showed how, so now i am out of a phone that i just paid 300 dollars for because i dropped my last 5s and the glass shattered and i didnt have any insurance. so now it seems like i am out again. i was sold on the fact that the fingerprint sensor would stop that from happening but they can just reset the phone and have it as theirs new. is there anything i can do to get my phone back.

If you set up your phone correctly, it is still protected by the Activation Lock and can be used without knowing your AppleID and password.
Here are some more things about that:
What if your iOS device is off or offline?
If your missing device is off or offline, you can still put it in Lost Mode, lock it, or remotely erase it. The next time your device is online, these actions will take effect. If you remove the device from your account while it's offline, any pending actions for the device will be cancelled.
How do you turn off or cancel Lost Mode?
You can turn off Lost Mode by entering the passcode on your device. You can also turn off Lost Mode on iCloud.com or from the Find My iPhone app.

  • YouTube embedded video shows blank in Safari firefox says file not found

    Dear all,
I have embedded YouTube and Vimeo videos in a website in adobe dreamweaver 5.5, MacOS 10.7.5. They show blank in Safari, and firefox says (translated from German): "File not found. The files under (embed code) could not be found." My slightly older embeddings (also "i frame") in the same website work fine though.
I have updated today Safari, Flash Player, and Java; reset both browsers, nothing changed.
Have spent ours googling this already, no help.
    Thanks for helping.

  • [SOLVED] Youtube Video showing up on every window I open?

Hello all, I'm getting this strange error. A youtube video (Appearing as it does before you click the play button when it is embedded) is showing up in every window I open (of any sort, it even shows up on games like minecraft) before that part of the window is filled with the actual program or image I am trying to load. It also seems to show up on black colors afterward. I'm completely lost here, any ideas?

    What is other relevant data?
Yes, my system is up to date, and it only seemed to do it starting last night. It wasnt uptodate before this morning though.
I've realized it also shows up in the top left corner over anything black.

  • New canon SX50 Does not to zoom as well as YOUTUBE videos show....

    Hello!
    SX50 HS
I've been seeing Youtube videos of people shooting the moon, but even with my lens all the way to 1200mm, Digital zoom on to 2x, I'm still not getting as close to see the craters as some people can get...what am I doing wrong?
Should I also be concerned that when I zoom onto a subject..like the moon, and track right on top of it, the lens seems to FLOAT all over the place...would the image stabilizer help this?
    Thank you!

It's a bit confusing because Canon has two different features... one called "digital zoom" the other is called "digital teleconverter" in the manual... but the menu system label for that same feature says "digital zoom" (but is not the same digital zoom.)
See page 55 of your manual for instructions on how to use digital zoom.  Briefly... you use the zoom level to perform optical zoom until the lens stops moving.  THEN... release and push the zoom level again and it will add digital zoom to the optical zoom.
On page 132 they explain "digital teleconverter" via the menu system... but then go on to say that you cannot combine digital zoom and digital teleonverter at the same time.  Digital teleconverter (labeled "digital zoom" on the menu) will only offer 1.5x and 2x.
Not the most straight-forward user interface, I agree... but now that you know, hopefully you can get the camera to do what you want.
    Good luck!
Incidentally... if you don't have your owners manual, you can download it here:  http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/consumer/products/cameras/digital_cameras/powershot_sx50_hs#BrochuresA...

  • Why do Youtube videos show being completely loaded, but aren't actually loaded?

It's kinda hard to explain. Ever since downloading Firefox 4, I've been getting this odd error in Youtube, and Youtube only. When viewing a video, the time bar or whatever you want to call it shows it's fully loaded, even when just starting to view. Also, when it ends the recommended videos, replay button, Like button, etc, show up a good 3-5 seconds before the video actually ends. This is not an error with Youtube itself. Since I tested it in other browsers. Namely Google Chrome, Opera and even Internet Explorer and didn't experience this problem. What should I do?

It's very difficult to say without knowing more about your system. There are a number of possibilities. First, your 13" lacks a discrete GPU, so the CPU is doing the work that a GPU would have done as far as decoding video streams, etc. Each video stream will consume considerable resources from the machine, and if you have multiple things running with video streams being decoded (for example, a browser with video Flash or cumbersome animation and iMovie running at the same time), then that may be a factor.
Additionally, it could be that you are memory constrained. You didn't post a picture of the process list from activity monitor or the memory usage stats, but you probably want to look and see what the memory and CPU usage is and who's consuming what. Some applications are pretty inefficient. For example, if you have iPhoto open and have thousands of images, the indexed metadata and thumbnails are all stored in RAM. iMovie pulls in clip thumbnail sets - (and worse, it has to do on-the-fly transcoding video assets from some cameras that don't encode the video using the parameters it expects to make indexing frames easier). Again, this would show up as periodic spikes in CPU activity for the app.
You seem to have plenty of disk space, that's not likely to be a problem.
Check if Time Machine is running. Time Machine introduces a performance impact, but it's exacerbated by the presence of frequently changed large files (e.g., you don't want Time Machine backing up your video projects while you are working on them).
Lastly, you may consider checking the console for error messages. This might reveal background processes that might be bogging down the system, or things like filesystem/disk errors. If there are errors in the filesystem, when you access certain portions of the disk, the OS and applications can slow down or lock-up as a result.

Thank you for your question, the black box can be from drivers or hardware acceleration.
Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.

Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!Hello,
Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.
You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
    Then perform these steps:
#Open Firefox ''Options'' window (''Preferences'' on Mac or Linux) as follows:
#* In Firefox 29.0 and above, click the menu button [[Image:New Fx Menu]] and select ''Options'' for Windows or ''Preferences'' on Mac or Linux.
#* In Firefox 28.0 and previous versions, click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
#In the Firefox Options (or Preferences) window, click the ''Advanced'' tab, then select ''General''.
#In the settings list, you should find the ''Use hardware acceleration when available'' checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
#Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.
Additionally, please check for updates for your graphics driver by following the steps mentioned in the following Knowledge base articles:

  • YouTube videos not showing up on Internet Explorer

Of course they show up on all other browsers on both platforms, no problem. But they don't show up at all on Internet Explorer on Windows which a lot of people still use. It's just a blank where the YouTube video should be.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,

  • Youtube Video in iWeb "html Snippet" is Blank?

The html Snippet Widget shows an unhappy face icon when I publish the site to the internet in preview form. In iWeb itself the video shows up as a blank box on my site when I load the "embed" text from the Youtube video into the black box window and hit "apply".
Here is the Youtube Embed text if it helps to analyze it. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/GdC9WLhUum0?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
I can successfully load the Youtube Widget but I dislike the 4 x 3 format with excessively large top/bottom black bands and control bar. I prefer the 16 x 9 format of the html Snippet, but it needs to function.
    Help please.
    Dan

Okay, it is simple.  The video will not work because there are mistakes in the code that you have posted - if the code is incorrect then it won't work.
Where you have src="//www.youtube.com/embed, the code should in fact be as follows:
    src="http://www.youtube.com/embed
I have just opened iWeb on my Mac and copied and pasted the code, but then changing it to http:// and the video works perfectly - comes up with someone in a canoe and is entitled River Discipline.

  • Mozilla (specifically) wont load Youtube videos, or streamed shows, but everything else. Why?

Most people will readily say this - but I have absolutely no idea what I've done to change any form of settings. However Mozilla won't play any Youtube videos or streamed shows. The screen just stays blank (black). I've uninstalled and reinstalled flash and that didn't fix it, and I've tried most of the troubleshooting options, none seem to work.
I've opened up Internet Explorer and they have no problems playing any video. It's just Mozilla. I'm not too sure what the issue is. I've googled such problems and any form of related issues seem to want to clear any cache or cookies - didn't work.
Anyways, any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

The most likely cause is the latest Flash update. Please see this article for more information: [[Flash 11.3 doesn't load video in Firefox]].
