YouTube videos usually don't load unless...

Hey guys,
This is my first time on the forum, so I would appreciate some help as well as some leniency if I sound stupid.
So anyways... sometimes, YouTube videos I try to play load and play just fine, but most of the time, the video won't start until I change the quality. For example, if my video is by default on 240p, it won't even begin playing until I change it 480p or 720p, and then it will play perfectly. I use Flash Player 10.3.
Can anyone explain why videos won't work unless I change quality?
Thanks a bunch

  • Youtube videos randomly won't load

I recently got a new modem, and ever since then I've noticed YouTube videos will randomly stop loading (particularly longer ones, although I have had short videos stop loading too). Switching to HTML5 video player seems to let me play videos without having any loading issues.
    - I've tried resetting my router.
    - Reinstalling Adobe Flash Player 14.0.0.125
    - Clearing my recent history
    - Flushing my dns
    - Turning DASH playback off
    - I've tried posting on Adobe Flash Player and Youtube forums for help but nobody replied
    - It's been happening for over 2 months now.
    - Videos seem to load fine on Chrome
I'm not really sure what else to do, I'm assuming it has something to do with my new modem, but I have no idea how to fix this.
I'll be using Chrome until I find a solution to this.

it apears to be the flash player ....
and how do you change the setting of youtube to html5 ? cheers

I'm having trouble with my iMac viewing youtube video's ? Even loaded?

I believe so. I was using safari and just switched to firefox which asked me to download the new version of flash which I did and it works better, not perfect, but better.

  • YouTube Video's will not load, is there a way to fix this?

I have flash installed and all YouTube video's will not load. In their place there is a black box when I right click on this box it says "movie not loaded..." and "about adobe flash player." All other flash related video's load fine it seems to be a problem only with YouTube. This problem persists into Google Chrome but not Internet Explorer.

This has been reported many times over the past 24 hours and if the solution hasn't been posted yet, one short-term workaround is to change from a regular session to a secure session.
Click in the URL and insert an s after http. In other words:
    http://www.youtube.com/ ==> https://www.youtube.com/

  • Why are YouTube videos so slow to load?

    Hi Gang,
I've been greatly enjoying the Pismo I totally revamped with help from JPL and Cornelius. It's now faster than my G4 12". But Youtube videos are painfully slow to load. If they finally do load, the motion is usually quite jerky and out of sync. Just tried three different videos on the Salon site and none of them would load. This is not the case with other videos (QuickTime or RealPlayer). Is this a hardware, software or site problem, and is there anything I can do about it? Thanks for any insight you can give.

    GB:
I am able to watch streaming video on my Pismo, but I can't be doing much else on the computer. However, I don't do YouTube and I don't know how that will work. But I do watch news clips or streaming video from CNN, for example. I watch it the default size, and it is fine, with a little problem with video/sound synchronization. Streaming video works a lot better for me with Real Play, though. Almost perfect even with their max size. That is true even on my wife's Pismo with a regular 500 MHz processor and 640 MB of RAM.
I agree with Jon and jpl on the video card limitation. To the best of my knowledge it can not be upgraded.
    Cheers

  • Web Pages Don't Load Unless Forced....?

Web pages will not load unless, while they are trying to load... I open another webpage in a new window, which will force the previous one to load. Is there a fix to this? Anyone else experiencing it?
Also, youtube does not work properly either. I have to force the video's to load. So while the video's are loading, I will need to constantly surf the web, through new windows, which will force the youtube video to load.
    Very annoying.

I am having both of those problems, I'm looking for a solution right now because both of them have gotten steadily worse since I first got my macbook.

  • Youtube videos won't completely load / play in safari - (OK in firefox tho)

So whenever I try to play a youtube video, it'll partially buffer, and only about the first quarter to half of the video will play.
This was the case in Safari 2.whatever and Tiger, and is still the case with Safari 3 and Leopard.
Here's the weird part: everything works just fine in Firefox.
Help! I actually like Safari more, and it's annoying to have to switch browsers.

    Hi
The "repair permissions" is an important step after installing Flash. Just wanted to make sure you had done so.
In your Finder: Go to Your User Account>Library>Preferences>Macromedia>Flash Player>#Shared Objects>etc. In the last folder you'll see YouTube entries at the bottom of the list. Delete them, then restart the computer/Safari.
Once in Safari, empty cache again. Plus, also remove the YouTube cookies. Then try YouTube again.

  • Youtube videos VERY slow to load

Has any one else out there had a problem with getting youtube videos to load. My desktop downloads youtube videos in Miliseconds, while the apple tv takes two minutes to download the same thing! We are all wired up, so no wireless problems. Podcasts and movies stream very quickly, just a problem with youtube. Does any one know if the videos are directly downloaded from youtube or do they go through apple servers of some type? I am flustered. Already returned one unit to the store for an exchange.
    HELP!

I worked with fuji master on this issue and have resolved it, sort of... Fuji's original 160GB AppleTV exhibited the symptom he described on several different WAN connections, although all were Portland Comcast.
Surprisingly, every 160GB (shipped with take 2) unit we tried had the same symptom but the 40GB models operated perfectly (on the same LAN and WAN). The 40GB was running the same version of the take 2 firmware as the 160GBs and all had been restored prior to testing. I am at a loss to explain how this could be a hardware-specific issue with YouTube, but my best guess is that some incompatibility existed between 160GB AppleTVs and YouTube.
Today, we configured and tested a new 160GB AppleTV (a firmware update occurred since previous testing) on the same network and YouTube loaded and operated normally.

  • Why do Youtube videos show being completely loaded, but aren't actually loaded?

It's kinda hard to explain. Ever since downloading Firefox 4, I've been getting this odd error in Youtube, and Youtube only. When viewing a video, the time bar or whatever you want to call it shows it's fully loaded, even when just starting to view. Also, when it ends the recommended videos, replay button, Like button, etc, show up a good 3-5 seconds before the video actually ends. This is not an error with Youtube itself. Since I tested it in other browsers. Namely Google Chrome, Opera and even Internet Explorer and didn't experience this problem. What should I do?

It's very difficult to say without knowing more about your system. There are a number of possibilities. First, your 13" lacks a discrete GPU, so the CPU is doing the work that a GPU would have done as far as decoding video streams, etc. Each video stream will consume considerable resources from the machine, and if you have multiple things running with video streams being decoded (for example, a browser with video Flash or cumbersome animation and iMovie running at the same time), then that may be a factor.
Additionally, it could be that you are memory constrained. You didn't post a picture of the process list from activity monitor or the memory usage stats, but you probably want to look and see what the memory and CPU usage is and who's consuming what. Some applications are pretty inefficient. For example, if you have iPhoto open and have thousands of images, the indexed metadata and thumbnails are all stored in RAM. iMovie pulls in clip thumbnail sets - (and worse, it has to do on-the-fly transcoding video assets from some cameras that don't encode the video using the parameters it expects to make indexing frames easier). Again, this would show up as periodic spikes in CPU activity for the app.
You seem to have plenty of disk space, that's not likely to be a problem.
Check if Time Machine is running. Time Machine introduces a performance impact, but it's exacerbated by the presence of frequently changed large files (e.g., you don't want Time Machine backing up your video projects while you are working on them).
Lastly, you may consider checking the console for error messages. This might reveal background processes that might be bogging down the system, or things like filesystem/disk errors. If there are errors in the filesystem, when you access certain portions of the disk, the OS and applications can slow down or lock-up as a result.

  • My youtube videos won't load. "an error occured, please try again later"

    Hi,
I recently asked a questions saying:
"I click on a YouTube video, an error message shows on the screen saying: "An error occurred, please try again later. Learn more" with a black background. I am pretty sure all of you guys have experienced it at least once. However, this phenomenon occurs every time I click a video. I cleared my cookies, updated my Adobe flash player, enabled java script, and updated Firefox. But these did not solve my problems. Help me out please!"
Someone replied to my question, saying that I should disable my adobe accelerator, which I have done. However, the youtube videos still do not load and the error message keep coming up. I am getting really frustrated. I have tried everything. Please help me.

Same problem here, none of the posted solutions worked. :/ Everything up to date, safe mode or not, doing everything abive... still nothing. Videos show the loading animation for a little while, then "an error occurred..."
    :sadpanda:

  • Youtube videos not loading in Safari?

Youtube videos load in the Youtube app but don't load in Safari/Atomic. I can see the screen cap and press play, but the video never loads (the spinning circle spins forever or disappears). I can load HTML5 videos on other sites with no issues. Anyone know how to fix this?
    I've tried:
    -powering off then on
    -syncing to PC
    -turning off auto-brightness
-youtube.com/html5 and clicked "Join the HTML5 Beta"
-clearing history, cookies, cache in Safari Settings
    My iPad is on 4.3.3.

If you will provide URL for videos, then we can test them for you.
    What pray tell is Safari/Atomic?

  • I can't play any YouTube videos

I cannot play any videos in Safari 6.1.2.  Every time I try to, I get an error message telling me "Flash out-of-date".
I updated Flash to the lattest version, I have cleared my cache in references.  YouTube videos still don't play.
    Any suggestions?

If you're sure you've installed the latest version of Flash, take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. After each step, relaunch Safari and test. For a "missing plug-in" error, start with Step 7. Back up all data before making any changes.
    Step 1
You might have to log out or reboot before a Flash update takes effect.
    Step 2
In the Safari preference window, select
Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
    Close the window. Then select
     ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
and click Delete All. Close the preference pane.
    Step 3
If you're only having trouble with YouTube videos, log in to YouTube and load this page. You may see a link with the text "Leave the HTML5 Trial." If so, click that link.
    Step 4
If you get a warning of a "blocked" or "outdated" plug-in, then from the menu bar select
     ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
and click Check Now. Quit and relaunch the browser.
If the warning persists, triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /System/Library/CoreServices/CoreTypes.bundle/Contents/Resources
Right-click or control-click the highlighted text and select
    Services ▹ Open
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open. Inside it, there should be a file named "XProtect.meta.plist". If that file is missing and you know why it's missing, restore it from a backup or copy it from another Mac running the same version of OS X. Otherwise, reinstall OS X.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
    Step 5
Open this folder as in Step 4:
    /Library/Internet Plug-Ins
Delete the following item, or anything with a similar name, if present:
    Flash Player (failing).plugin
You may be prompted for your login password.
    Step 6
Re-download and reinstall Flash. Download it from the domain "get.adobe.com". Don't click a link from any other website, including this one, because you can't trust links. They may be an attempt to trick you into installing malware masquerading as Flash. Type the address into the browser window. Never download a Flash update from anywhere else.
    Step 7
If you get a "missing plug-in" error, select
    Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
from the Safari menu bar and check the box marked
    Allow (or Enable) plug-ins
    Then click the button marked
    Manage Website Settings...
if present and make sure that the website is not blocked for Flash.
    Step 8
    Select
    Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
from the Safari menu bar. If any extensions are installed, disable them.

  • How to stream YouTube video in PDF document using ID 5.5?

I'm using ID 5.5 and know how to insert a video into a document using the Media palette, "Insert video from URL" option. However, I need to stream a YouTube video in an interactive PDF document, and when I try to insert the link from YouTube into the "Insert Video from URL" box, ID doesn't recognize it. I assume this is because YouTube video links don't end with a typical video format file-name ending, such as ".mp4" or ".mov"
Has anyone been able to stream a YouTube video into a document using ID 5.5? If so, how did you do it?
Downloading the video and inserting it as a regular video file isn't an option because we need to keep the PDF file size down.
Thanks much for any advice you may have!

It can't be done. A YouTube video cannot be streamed in any digital publishing media—PDF, EPUB, or DPS.
There are applications which claim to be able to convert a YouTube video into a real digital publishing format like H264-encoded MP4 (preferred), but you'll have to investigate those on your own.

  • Youtube video's won't work, but audio ok

During the last couple days, youtube video's have stopped loading on my MBP17. The video screen stays black. Audio works well. I tried uninstalling flash and reinstalling. That worked for 1 day, but the problem is now back.
I've cleared out the cache and the cookies with no luck.

I had the same problem and couldn't find anything around but I came up with this idea and it worked. Try uninstalling Adobe Flash Player from your computer completely. Then go to its website and download not the latest version, but right the previous one and install it. My problem was fixed. The version I download was 10.1.102.64. Hope this is useful.
