Youtube videos wont show I hear audio but no video

I enherated this iMac I recently updated the software now videos wont show on youtube or on hulu I hear the audio but no video.

You probably need to update Flash Player.
The latest version of Adobe FlashPlayer can be obtained from here:

You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):

and also that you follow the instructions closely, such as closing ALL applications first before installing. You must also carry out a permission repair after installing anything from Adobe.

Why can't I see my iPhone 4 footage in iMovie? I hear audio, but no video.

Hello! This issue appeared in iMovie '09, and has persisted into '11. I have reinstalled the app, cleared caches, deleted old projects and all-around run out of ideas.
My iPhone 4 footage, and older Flip h.264-encoded footage, will not play in iMovie. I can see the thumbnails, but when I scrub or playback the footage (whether in the project or not) I see black, but hear the video.
Has anyone encountered this and successfully fixed this?

DVD player shows gray screen, audio but no video

DVD's play fine in VLC but with the default DVD player I only get a grey screen.

MP4 VIDEOS OPENS IN QUICKTIME WITH AUDIO BUT NO VIDEO?

I have downloaded may video clips from youtube with tubesock and they worked fine in quicktime pro and I was able to place them on Iweb, now they only play audio no video. What do you think happened.
I can play them with my VLC player and they are fine.

Tubesock had a bug in their software which was allowing it to create invalid MPEG-4 files. The latest version of QuickTime will no longer play these invalid files, so if you just recently upgraded, that's your problem.
The fix is easy, though. The developers of iSquint have released a Debreaker application that you get for free with the download of the free iSqint (it's all free is what I'm saying Download that app and use the Debreaker to fix your files, and you should be set.

Hearing Audio but Video not showing

I just upgraded to the newest quicktime and or some reason I can only hear the video being played but I cannot see it. The videos are avi files and recently I've been having problems playing my avi files on quicktime. I only just got my avi files to work at all only they worked on windows media player. I tried playing them through quicktime but they would not work, even with having the right codecs (divx). So I updated Quicktime with the latest update and now as I stated, I can hear the audio but the video is not being displayed. Can someone please help with this or is this just another quicktime bug I'll have to wait for them to fix? I would go and downgrade but I fear if I do, my avi files will cease to work at all.

Can hear audio but not see video in iMovie

have a project in iMovie and when I click on the space bar I can hear the audio, but the video remains black even though the thumbnails show images. Am I missing a setting somewhere?

You cant directly add the video object to the stage
to add it on the stage add UIComponent to stage and add the video object to it

Trying to play videos from my iPhone, i.e; news videos and TED videos. Can hear audio but can not see the video.

We can hear audio, but video blacks out every few seconds; picture comes back when we hit the tv's volume button. Everything seems to be plugged in well. The picture even starts out being sort of dim. And it goes through phases of working fine but then will randomly start blacking out again. Any ideas?

Can hear audio but get no video in QT player or iTunes or Safari

I can hear audio, but get no video (ie just a blank window or the "first frame" of the video) when playing basic ".mov" movies using QT Player. I also get the same behaviour when trying to watch movie previews in iTunes. I get the same behaviour when trying to watch QT movies in Safari (for example the latest apple advertisements from apple.com), although ironically I was able to watch the entire Macworld keynote without a hitch in QT Player?!?!
I know my mac is now "getting on", but I know it is still capable of displaying "ipod" sized movie trailers in iTunes.
Real player, cameraid, graphic converter and btv pro can all play the movies QT Player cant. Firefox can play the movies that Safari cant play. Unfortunately there isnt an alternative for iTunes.
Can anyone give any reason or solution to the fact that the core Apple applications are unable to play Apples own movie format when out of date, 5 year old, 3rd party software can?
I have tried
1) deleting the QT plist files
2) reinstalling flip4mac, perian, realplayer and flash, and
3) have just updated QT an iTunes to the latest version.
Any ideas?
The only hint I can think of, is that when playing a movie in QT Player, if you minimise the movie to the dock, and then bring it back to the desktop....it displays the "current" frame of the movie which sits there "frozen" until you do it again ... and just repeating, audio is fine.

Yes Techmo, persistence is the secret.
After the QT 6.4.5 update once again made no difference, I gave up with a brand spanking new 2.8Ghz iMac only a couple of days away.
On cleaning out the old mac getting ready to transfer files to the new mac, I unplugged everything but (of course) power, keyboard and mouse.
I dont know why, but I tried a movie...and it worked like a charm.
I dont know what was plugged in that was giving QT grief, but I suspect it may have been my ageing Orange Micro iBot webcam. Too late now to find out (and I no longer care as I gaze on my new 24 inches of beautiful screen real estate), but for all those with this problem....try unplugging everything as I did and see what happens. At least it might be a starting point to solving your problem.

Audio, but no video on Kindle Fire?

We have an application that streams video over the rtmpe protocol (also tried just rtmp) using a flash video object for display (flash.media.Video). The video plays fine on the Nook Tablet and the Blackberry Playbook. However, when run on an Amazon Kindle Fire we get audio, but no video shows. We tried setting video.opaqueBackground = 0xffffff; to make sure the video was even loading, and we do see a white background, but as soon as the video begins to play (we hear audio), the video object goes black and we don't see any video.
Anyone run into this?

Audio, but no video when compressing FCPX files

I am trying to compress a 4-minute video for use on YouTube. I send the edited video from FCPX to Compressor 4 and have used several of the preset settings (H.264 for Video Podcasting and HD 720p Video Sharing). In both cases, the .mov file has audio, but no video. When I use the Export Media option to export the raw .mov file, there is video and audio. Any idea why this is happening? What are the best settings to use for YouTube? When I send it straight to YouTube via FCPX (by logging into my YouTube account), everything works fine. But I need a separate .mov file to send around elsewhere. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I'm guessing Warwick is correct.
One other thought: if you have an "Export Media" option, your version of FCPX is not current and should be updated. Afterwards, Id suggest running repair permissions in Disk Utility.

My experience is the 720p YT and Vimeo presets are fine for uploading. If your project is 1080p, you'll have that option as well.
By send around elsewhere, the usual tradeoffs between quality and file size apply. Usually h.264 – either Quick Time or MP4 at the original resolution and frame rate – provides the best tradeoff. That is, unless someone is going to be showing it in a movie theater.

I just hooked up my Apple TV - I have an iPhone 4 and I'm trying to do mirroring and I can hear sound, but no video. Any suggestions?

It Depends on the app you are trying to airplay. Most apps do not allow content to airplay with video and will disable the video so all you will hear is the audio. If the app you are using does not have a built in airplay function and you have to use the iphone to make it work than most likley that is the case as I described above.
It has to do with copyright protection and what the app is allowing apple to do.

Flash player 11.6.602.180 plays audio but not video...

Very similar to problems reported by others. Just started recently... flash player on Win 7 and IE 10 plays audio but no video... just black box or blank.
Have reinstalled flash player several times... including following all clean install instructions several times. Installation completes and and tells me it's installed successfully.
Have carefully matched IE settings to allow activeX content and have enabled the flash player object and turned on active scripting for all zones, etc. Still no video.
Going to the flash verification page shows a blank box where the current installed version should be.
If I look in control panel under Flash Player it tells me the activeX version is 11.6.602.180 and that the plug in is "Not Installed"... could that be the problem?
What can I do to fix this? Thanks in advance for any help.

FLVPlayback audio but no video when streaming

I have a flash program that loads an external flv dynamically. I first create an empty movie clip then I attach an instance of the FLVPlayback component using Moviclip.attachMovie();. Then i control the FLVPlayback component with AS2. I have a play and pause button, a scrubber, and a loading progress bar. None of these are components. When I publish and preview the file in Flash CS4, Adobe Flash Player 10, and all my internet browsers everything works fine, all the buttons, the multiple functions of the scrubber, and even the loading progress bar. However when I uploaded all the files from my computer to my company's server and tested it from there, I recieved audio but no video. All of the various controls still worked for the audio but I couldn't see anything on the stage. If I waited for the loading progress bar to complete and then reloaded the external flv then I got video, but the purpose of this program is to stream the video and I cannot have the users waiting for a preloader. Please help me to get my video to show and not just my audio.

I don't know what cross-domain issues are, but i had double checked my flv's path/file name and since reading your post have checked it again.
