Youtube won't let me type in comment box below video, and keeps affecting the video when I hit keys. why and how can I stop it from doing that?

It seems whenever I use YouTube with Firefox, the YouTube video will only ever let me interact with it unless I go full screen then hit escape. if i don't, I can't type in the text box below the video. even stranger, if I go to a new tab and try to enter something into, say, Google, I can still pause and un-pause the you tube video, even in the other tab, just by trying to type in a text box. Why is this happened, and how can I make it stop? it is starting to get very disruptive.

Recent crashes of certain multimedia contents (this includes Youtube videos, certain flash games and other applications) in conjunction with Firefox 14 are most probably caused by a recent Flash 11.3 update and/or a malfunctioning Real Player browser plugin.

I unchecked "Check spelling as you type" but Firefox still underlines words in cut-and-pasted text in some web apps. How can I stop it from doing this?

I'm using an online web mapping application that has input boxes for descriptive text and stuff like that. Sometimes I copy blocks of text from a word processing app into these input boxes because I can format the text in the wp. When I paste the text blocks, Firefox does the wiggly red underline on words it doesn't know. I've already turned off "check spelling as you type" but this doesn't make a difference. I don't want Firefox to check spelling on these text blocks that I copy and paste. Does "Check Spelling" in the right-click context menu has a tick when this happens?
You can consider to disable the spell check underline by setting the ui.SpellCheckerUnderlineStyle pref to 0 (zero) on the <b>about:config</b> page.

Paul_31 is correct. The problem is almost certainly a Bluetooth connection issue. The flashing green lights mean that a connection cannot be established. You want steady burning green lights. Using a wired keyboard and mouse will allow you to troubleshoot that issue. A quick check would be to see if your "problem" keyboard and mouse can connect to another-different Mac. If they can then the issue is in you computer but if they can't (and I suspect that will be the case) then the problem is with the keyboard and mouse.

Not for free, no. Well I guess there is. Don't sync your phone. We don't, but then we only use it for talking and taking photos which you can transfer using even a pretty old computer.

What do I do???

Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
    •    Launch Settings app

    •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. You may have many open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign.

How can I stop Firefox from going to an https url automatically even when I type in http?

The browser is loading https websites even when I type in http. Asking for security certificates, etc. My home page is listed as http:// ....but when Firefox opens it, it is https://
I have changed the autobar fill in abbout:config, but it has had no effect.
The only solution I've seen on the Internet so far is to switch to Chrome, something I'd prefer not to do.

Google has recently started switching everything over to HTTPS, so you may want to check Google help about that.

I use Mozilla firefox on my laptop and for some reason it keeps saying the connection timed out and I'm not connected to the Internet when I am. Why isn't iTunes recognizing my web configuration?

It probably has to do with your security and/or browser configuration.
When my laptop crashed last year and I had to get a new one, I dealt with the same thing. First, go to your control panel and select the security section. See if your firewalls are up or not. If they are, turn them off. If you have any software to speed up your browser, that can affect the connection as well. Go into that software and disble/turn it off. If this doesn't work, contact customer support. They have a few other tricks they had me try that worked, but I can't remember them now.

Email won't send, how can I stop it from trying??

I'm having an outgoing mail server problem. Fine. But when I try to send something and it can't send, I see the spinning circle going next to the Sending Folder. But there is no way for me to get to the message that isn't sending. No "Outbox" folder. It spins sometimes for hours before it decides to alert me I can't send the message. How can I tell Mail to stop trying to send the message?

Click on Window in the menubar, and choose Activity. Can you then click on the Stop sign icon as it tries to send, and get it to stop?
If you need to remove a message that is, say, too large to send, then after quitting Mail, in the Finder open Home/Library/Mail/Mailboxes and locate the Outbox.mbox folder. Delete it, and Mail will create a new one when next you send. If you think there is a message you need to recover, drag it only to the Desktop instead of deleting.

Use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot.
It is possible that you have switched the keyboard layout by accident by using the key sequence to rotate the layout.

MacBook won't let me type anything at all. It's running Mac OS X 10.6.8 Snowleopard

You have to understand the difference between an Update and an Upgrade.
An Update is a free change to add to the base code or as a bug fix within an existing Operating System. Such as the .8 added to 10.5.
An Upgrade is a complete new Operating System that must be purchased. Such as 10.5 Leopard to 10.6 Snow Leopard.
10.5 Leopard was written for Power PC Macs with code added to allow it to run on Intel processors.
10.6 Snow Leopard has completely rewritten code and only runs on Intel Macs.
10.7 Lion used some 32 bit which allows it to run on Late 2006 through Early 2008 MacBooks and a lot of 64 bit code.
10.8 Mountain Lion is pure 64 bit, which excludes more systems than Lion did. It can only run on the Late 2008 through Mid 2010 MacBooks. It's not something you can add memory to, for example, as it involves the base architecture.

Terminal won't let me type my password

Don't know anything about Terminal. I'm trying to set my computer up for remote printing to use at my university library. Using my IT services webpage, I copied and pasted a text string into the window as instructed. I got this:

So what I think that means is that whatever I was supposed to enter there was fine. The problem is that it's won't let me type my password. I tried typing all different kinds of characters, and nothing happens- there's just a dark grey box after the colon. If I hit return, it says "sorry, password incorrect" or something.
My computer is a two-year-old iBook G4 running some kind of OS X, if that matters. Sorry, I feel like this is probably really obvious, but I'm at a loss.

When you are prompted for your password in Terminal nothing will be echoed to the screen when you type your password... no characters, no dots, the cursor won't move... that's normal... it's a security safeguard.
Just type your password and press the return key.
However, you must be logged into your computer with an account that has administrator privileges. And it's asking for the password of the account you're logged in to.
