Youtube won't play in Firefox 13.

The newest version of Firefox, 13.0, seems to have a problem playing youtube videos. Whenever I go to youtube and try to play something I get a “There seems to be an error. Please try again later.” At first I thought it was a problem with youtube, and put in an error report with them. Youtube played fine on my earlier Firefox installation, and plays just fine on Google Chrome and IE, so the problem seems to lie with Firefox.
In the past I have had other problems with updates to Firefox. One time I couldn’t see what was in my Google search box after updating. The next update seemed to take care of the problem. I cringe when I see that pop up box that says there is a new version of Firefox available. I wonder what favorite add ons won’t work with this one, and what other problems it might bring. That’s why I tend to wait for a couple of weeks to months before clicking the update button, hoping that maybe the bugs will have been worked out. I normally donate a little bit to programs and projects that try to improve my computer experience for free. Firefox has not given me a reason to donate. I have read the solution for uninstalling Realplayer and rolling back Flash, and this doesn't work for me. I use Realplayer all the time on my computer, and Firefox will leave before Realplayer does. If Firefox can't come up with a simple solution or fix then I guess Chrome is in my future.

@Edward :: This worked for me ...
Turn off Web Download & Recording in RealPlayer
Launch RealPlayer
Click the RealPlayer icon in the upper left corner of the window and choose Preferences.
Choose Download & Recording from the left hand panel
Uncheck "Enable Web Download & Recording for these installed browsers"
Click OK and close RealPlayer
Restart Firefox
Hope it works for you ...
@Tobi :: Many thanks pal one of the links helped me out .. :))

  • Videos on Youtube won't play on Firefox

When attempting to watch videos on Youtube, I'm presented only a black screen where the video should be, and no means of "liking" "disliking" or commenting on the video below it. I can navigate Youtube just fine, and it works with other browsers. I've also found that changing the address start to https:// allows me to watch videos, but makes navigation of the site very difficult. Hulu and Netflix work just fine on Firefox, it seems to only be Youtube that isn't working.

Try clearing the Cache in Firefox.
    Tools-> Clear Recent History -> [v] Cache
    or
    Tools->Options->Advanced->Network -> Offline storage -> [Clear Now]
Youtube may have made some changes recently. Clear the Youtube cookie and refresh page if above does not do it.

  • Video on YouTube won't play !

Video on YouTube won’t play Until I refresh the page? However, when the video ends okay then can not play the video again? Video plays only once then had to refresh the page in order to watch the same video?

Hi G-hot, were you able to solve your other issues with Youtube from your earlier thread, or is this an additional problem with Youtube? I think if you could list all the problem in one list it might be helpful.
[https://support.mozilla.org/questions/971257 Firefox 23.0.1 keeps loading the YouTube page and prevents access to My Profile]
Also, did you do the usual?
When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
    (1) Bypass Firefox's Cache
Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.
Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"
If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.
    (2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first on Youtube and Gmail). While viewing a page on the site, try either:
    * right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
    * Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
In the dialog that opens, you can remove the site's cookies individually.
Then change the site at the top from youtube.com to google.com and clear those as well.
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

  • Wav files won't play in Firefox 22

Wav files won't play in Firefox 22. Previous versions of Firefox are fine. Other sound is fine. I have the latest mac OS X. Quicktime is set to play wav files. I have the latest version of it.
Is there a fix for this?
Is there any other plugins I can install which will play the wav files?

Thank you for your response Alice.
    I checked about:plugins and I DO have audio/wav and audio/x-wav. It it QuickTime 7.7.1 I have.
In Firefox Preferences Applications Panel I do not seem to have the iTunes.Document audio/x-wav there, only the audio/wav and Waveform Audio.
Re the New Email Notification feature with my Webmail, this is not activated via a Firefox extension. I don't really know how it works but when I'm logged into my Webmail email account and a new email arrives, a wav sound is played to alert me of the new email. This has always happened with all previous versions of Firefox, just not since I updated to Firefox 22 but when I go back to Firefox 21, it works again.
I have previously asked about this with my Webmail company. They knew nothing of this problem. I have now asked them for a second time now that I know that it is only THEIR wav sound that won't play. Other wav files play OK with Firefox 22.
I do not know what is at fault - Firefox 22, QuickTime or the Webmail site but for the past few days I have frequently switched between Firefox 22 and Firefox 21. Each time the New Email Notification wav sound works with Firefox 21 and doesn't with Firefox 22 so that makes me suspect that somehow Firefox 22 is at fault.
But it is a mystery and I might be stuck with it - unless it disappears as mysteriously as it arrived with a newer version of Firefox or maybe even a newer version of Quicktime.
Thank you to everybody who has tried to help me.

  • Certain youtube videos won't play in Firefox

Firefox 20.0.1, windows 7, flashplayer up to date.
Certain youtube videos won't play. The advert beforehand plays, and then the video just displays a black screen, no loading, trying to skip to a later time in the video doesn't work. It seems to be certain youtube users whose videos won't play, users whose videos I was able to watch only yesterday. The featured video on the user's channel is watchable, but not when opened separately.
IE won't show the affected videos either.

In addition to these symptoms, I've noticed that I can view these troubled videos on my cellphone just fine, but neither my XP or Win7 machine, which have all software updated can view. So if it was on youtubes side, it wouldn't work on my phone either.

  • Youtube videos won't play with Firefox.

Youtube is still working with Safari and Chrome but for some reason it stopped working with Firefox. This happened the night before it updated to Firefox 25. I thought the update was the issue but it's not. I've tried everything that I've read about to fix this issue. I've tried playing vids in safe mode, updated to the latest version of flash, disabled hardware acceleration, I've cleared all cookies and cache, I've reset firefox, I've deleted all my add-ons, I've deleted and re-installed firefox. Nothing is working. Anyone got a clue what to do?
    OSX 10.6.8 Macbook 2.4 Ghz

I have the same problem. I followed all of the above suggestions to no avail. Advertisements play fine. But when the skip option pops up, it doesn't count down smoothly from 5 -0 seconds. It will say, 5, 4, 5, 5, 4, and then sometimes you can skip ad. It doesn't matter if you skip ad or not. When the video comes up, it acts like it wants to load and play but will only play for a second, then restarts from beginning and says an error occured. Same thing in Explorer. And this is a brand new, Windows 7 64-bit computer. Is there anything else I can do to get Youtube videos to play?

  • How do I fix? Flash videos like YouTube won't play sound on MAC OSX 10.5.8

Sound won't play on YouTube and other flash web based videos on my MAC OSX 10.5.8 So I installed the most recent version of Adobe Flash Player and it still doesn't work. I uninstalled and reinstalled adobe flash player. Nada. I updated my computer software and firmware. Still nothing. I checked my sound and apple movie trailers play just fine.  Please assist.
    Thanks so much!!!!
Oh, I have tried to play videos in both Safari and Firefox. No sound in both.

Yay!!!! My business partner @goodbadtech (on twitter) fixed it.  Apple repair fixed it. Just got it back this morning. Then I updated Adobe flash as Mozilla asked me to do and the sounds disappeared again! Was so frustrated.  But Spencer found this link and that saved the day :-)

  • MailOnline videos won't play in Firefox unless in safe mode although they're fine in Explorer.

It's for my mum, honest. Firefox 25, java and flash uptodate but the Mail Online videos won't play unless I start Firefox in safemode. A large white rectangle appears but nothing else.

You can try these steps in case of issues with web pages:
Reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.
*Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
    *Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
    *Press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)
Clear the cache and cookies only from websites that cause problems.
    "Clear the Cache":
*Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
    *Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.
If it works in Safe Mode and in normal mode with all extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) disabled then try to find which extension is causing it by enabling one extension at a time until the problem reappears.
Close and restart Firefox after each change via "Firefox > Exit" (Windows: Firefox/File > Exit; Mac: Firefox > Quit Firefox; Linux: Firefox/File > Quit)

  • Videos won't play in Firefox, but play in other browsers

I'm running Firefox 14 with a default setting to Yahoo. All videos that are connected either through a link or directly connected through youtube will not play. I either get a white screen with nothing displayed or a black screen with an error message that says try again later. It doesn't matter if I connect directly from Firefox or from Yahoo. If I open my AOL browser through Explorer it will play all videos.

You can check for problems caused by a recent Flash 11.3 update and possibly downgrade to Flash 11.2 or 10.3.

  • H.264 videos that played in Firefox 34 won't play in Firefox 35.0

We host a ton of h.264 videos in the mp4 container displayed through JW Player. We had zero problems with Firefox 34 and earlier playing these videos, the video is H.264 and the audio is AAC, the whole thing is around 500 kbit/s.
They play fine on Firefox 34, Chrome and IE but after updating to Firefox 35.0 we get an error: "Error loading media: File could not be played".
We have found a fix to get them to work in the about:config, switching "media.fragmented-mp4.enabled" to false OR switching "media.fragmented-mp4.exposed" to false will allow our videos to play. Single file mp4's will also begin to download where before we would get a "Video can't be played because the file is corrupt."
Alternatively for Mac users if they just set media.apple.mp4.enabled to False it also works fine.
Non h.264 mp4 videos will play fine.
Here is a playlist that won't play: http://media.vineyardinstitute.org/other/vi_announcement/firefox-test.html
Here is the single video file: http://media.vineyardinstitute.org/other/vi_announcement/05_kingdom_theology.mp4
Is there anything I can change on either the playlist or the video files to get this to work? Why would the h.264 files that worked in Firefox 34 NOT work in 35? I will not be able to re-encode all of the videos, it would take me months. Is this a bug with Firefox?
Also I have tried this in safe mode, tried with every plugin deactivated, I have uninstalled Flash and the videos would not play as well as reinstalling a new version of Flash and a fresh copy of Firefox 35.0
Any help would be much appreciated, we are currently directing all of our users away from Firefox till we get this resolved.
    Thanks,
    Kyle

Do you have H.264 codec enabled in the plugins list of Firefox?
Does this happen in the most recent version of JWplayer?
There was an error loading the media:
"Media resource http://media.vineyardinstitute.org/other/vi_announcement/05_kingdom_theology.mp4 could not be decoded. firefox-test.html

In that one there were two errors: needed a higher version of Flash installed and the codec issue. As you mentioned this had been narrowed down to the codec of the mp4 file. And this codec is added with the default cisco h.264 player. [https://gigaom.com/2014/10/14/h-264-support-arrives-in-firefox-thanks-to-cisco-but-h-264-web-videos-still-wont-play/]

  • Youtube won't play videos on Safari

I have a Mac OS X version 10.5.8 and Safari won't play any youtube videos on youtube. However on some other sites linked videos will play. I've tried (multiple times) to uninstall and reinstall Adobe Flash Player to no avail. Any other solutions?

    Hi ...
If you have ClickToFlash installed, that can prevent Flash based video from streaming. The plugin is located in:   /Library/Internet-Plug-Ins.
And check to see if Safari is running in 32 bit mode. Right or control click the Safari icon in your Applications folder then click Get Info. If the box next to:  Open in 32 bit mode  is selected, deselect, quit then relaunch Safari.
Empty the Safari cache more often. From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Empty Cache
Quit then relaunch Safari, try a video.

Hi. I just made a movie and trailer that I put up on the web. My friend programmed the site. I used apple's compressor program to compress the video for web. I chose the quicktime 7 setting. The quicktime 7 setting in compressor seems to be compressing it into a .mov file. The movie plays fine in safari and internet explorer, but for some reson will not play in firefox.
Has anybody had a similar problem? Does anybody know why I can't get this movie to play in firefox?

The settings on firefox were fine. It turns out that I had to change my code from object top embed. That worked and got the video to play in firefox. But ironically now the sound only sometimes works in firefox. If it is not one problem it is another. lol If you have any insight you can share it would be greatly appreciated.
