YUI and DW

Hi all,
I am having a tough time at the moment getting my head round
things with regards to YUI. I have downloaded YUI Calender and got
it working but I then went to YUI and Downloaded the whole package
of code but for some reason it wont work but I see that the folder
DW Extension manager made in the web folder has the same content as
the YUI pack I downloaded so why will it not show up in the
YUI>Insert section.
Any way I will have to do it the other way so I have my .js
file I add that to the web folder then were do I find the code to
add into the html ? Can I not just copy and paste the code which
was provided in the test.html files ?
If any one could help this would be great.

What will not show up? The YUI calendar, or all of the
widgets that are included in YUI?

You can certainly build your pages via copy and paste, as
long as you know what to copy over and what you need to modify for
your specific page(s).

  • YUI and Dreamweaver CS4

I'm considering upgrading to CS4. Is the new version able to
render a page based on Yahoo's YUI? According to a post last year
on the YUI javascript group, CS3's Design View rendering was based
on Opera 9 but it didn't support all of Opera's css rendering
ability. So Design View was pretty much useless if you used YUI.
I'd like to know if CS4 has improved support for rendering css.
For the YUI post, see -

Dreamweaver's design view is not and has not been based upon
Opera. It is a custom rendering engine. It may have had some of the
rendering specifics in common with Opera, or other browsers such as
IE, but it is not based specifically upon any individual rendering
engine. For what I can tell the Opera rendering engine that seems
to be used within Device Central to display mobile content:
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/DeviceCentral/2.0_UsingDeviceCentral/WS92CC362A-4B06-4e83-BB4B -C6B5BA379CA7.html
The last few releases of Dreamweaver have had a strong focus
on CSS, including CS4, so the rendering of CSS is improved
somewhat, but I do not know specifically what impact that may have
had on rendering of YUI grids CSS.
A side note: Dreamweaver CS4 introduced a new view called
"Live View" that uses WebKit (the rendering engine that powers
Safari). In that view you'll see your content through WebKit
rendering engine so JavaScript and CSS will be rendered a bit more
closely to what you'll see in a browser. But as always, nothing
beats viewing your pages within the browsers that you are worried
about as they are all different and updated on different
    frequencies.

  • Configuring Custom JavaScript/CSS and YUI in WSRP Producer Portlet

I am trying to find information on how to setup/configure WebCenter for WSRP Producer Portlets that have YUI and custom javascript/CSS. While we have gotten some of the YUI features and custom javascript/CSS to work, we find that some references are not loading such as custom CSS and images. This appears to be a result of the URL rewrite not occuring for some of these references. It appears that WebLogic Portal supports this capability and can be configured using a dependency file for such needs but I have been unable to find a equivalent for WebCenter.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Best Regards.
    Carl

When you are providing javascript or css path, provide the absolute path.
    like src="http://<server>:<port>/portlet context root/images/some.png".
In that way custom javascript/css will work.

    Hoque

  • Dreamweaver CS4 and Web Widgets

    Hey All,
I wanted to let you know that the new version of Dreamweaver
    is now available.
We rounded out the form validation widget support in this
version and we now support HTML data sets. We have also added some
stater pages for Spry pages: Master/Detail pages and other common
    page layouts.
Some of you here were asking about widgets from other
frameworks that you saw mentioned in the public beta.
We are also announcing web widgets for Dreamweaver. These are
widgets that other developers have packaged for use in Dreamweaver.
You can see the first batch now at
    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/exchange/index.cfm?s=5&from=1&o=desc&cat=290&l=-1&event=produ ctHome&exc=3
Phatfusion and mootools is first to go up, with YUI and
jQuery widgets to follow very soon.
How did they make these widget extensions?
They used the just released web widget Packager:
    http://labs.adobe.com/wiki/index.php/Dreamweaver_Widget_Packager
This takes a XML file that the developer makes that describes
the widget. They feed that into the Packager and it automatically
creates the extension. It's pretty slick.
    Check them out!
    Thanks,
    Donald Booth

just checked out today, Dreamweaver CS4 still use Spry
    1.6.1....
so where we can find updated "form validation widget" and
"HTML data sets"? is it available in Spry 1.6.1 zip package? or it
    only available on DW CS4?
I think you misunderstand the message. Those
widgets are newly add to the Dreamweaver panels (dataset wizzard
now allowes you to choose HTML data sets and XML data sets) and the
validation widgets can be found in the insert panel.
The widgets are not new, they just have been add to
    Dreamweaver.

  • Eclipse error: Could not create the view: CFMLOutlinePage_0

After installing CFBuilder, I can no longer use the outline view. A previous post states that ColdFusion Builder is not compatible with Aptana plugins. His respone is complete BS and was not helpful. I imagine this is going to come up again since most users who develop CF applications use Aptana for a ton of other development. Especially since Aptana supports many popular JavaScript frameworks like JQuery, Prototype, YUI and Extension. I also use the sync manager and would rather not be ~forced~ to use Coldfusion Builder's HTML, CSS and JS editors.
Please help me resolve this issue and in turn, help all future developers.

I'm having this issue since ever with FB 4.7 (the normal IDE version, not the command-line one).
The most consistent way I found to resolve it is to delete the output folders of all flex projects, then restart and perform a clean build.
My suspect is that the incremental compilation is flawed, but cannot be sure of it.
P.S. usually the initial error has this root exception

  • Converting JSP to JSF

    Hi,
    I am new to JSF.
Could someone suggest how to convert existing JSP project to JSF and Tiles ?
    TIA,
    Oleg.

Yes, we do have to convert.
We wrote a pilot of project using JSP [with some YUI and JQuery widgets]
and then learned that client wants JSF (have a bunch of other JSF projects),
so now I have a week or so to convert it. [I personally would use Flex for the GUI] ;-)
Is there a way to wrap up JSP into JSF ?
I guess, we also need to move some HTML/JSP widgets into JSF components.
    Please advise,
    Oleg.

  • BI - Portal Design?

Suppose i have 13 queries which is from different application areas - FI , CCS , EAM
Now this application areas are further divided into sub area like:
            FI - CC/PCA , GL , Consolidation.
CCS - Billing , Back Office
            EAM - Service , Regulatory
Now assuming these 13 queries are in these different sub-areas
            CCA/PCA - Query1
            GL - Query2 , Query3
            Consolidation - Query 4 , Query 5 , Query 6
            Billing - Query 7 , Query 8
            Back Office - Query 9
            Service - Query 10 , Query 11
            Regulatory - Query 12 , Query 13
Now assume that there are 2 users A and B.
Now user A has access to the below mentioned :
            FI -CCA/PCA - Query1
            FI -Consolidation - Query 4
            CCS - Billing - Query 7
Now the approach i was thinking of was to create Roles in the PCD for the Application area and Sub areas,
For Eg : FI Role , CC/PCA Role , GL Role , Consolidation Role.
Also create ivews in PCD for all the Queries and then assign these Ivews to the respective sub areas and then these sub area will be delta linked to the Application Areas. Now the problem is if i take this approach and i assign a specific role to the end user in PCD he/ she will be able to see all the queries that are assigned to that role even though he/ she is suposed to just see 1 query instead of 2 queries which he is authorized to run in the back end BI system(PFCG) as in the example above for user A.Is there any other approach i can take to do this restrictions. We are on BI 7.0-SP 11, EP 7.0 and we plan to use the federated approach.

    Hey Chetan,
There are a few ways to do this. To use the portal for this, you would have to assign authorizations by iViews to the users. You can manage this with groups, but this is going to be a maintenance nightmare.
Personally, I would do one of two things. Either create a portal web service to dynamically do the assignment by reading BI security, or create a java portlet that renders the BI queries in a hierarchy.
    1. Create a WSDL around RS_VC_OPEN_OBJECTS_GET.
    2. Pass parameters for the object you'd like to get back:
    OBJVIEW
    00 = InfoArea
    01 = History
    02 or 12 = Favorites
    03 = Search
    04 = Roles
    OBJVIEW = 03
    OBJTYPE = QU
    OPEN_MODE=X
    OBJTYPE =
                   Nothing
    QU     Query
    VW     View of a Query
DP     DataProvider for Web Reporting (Queries and Views)
    WB     Workbook
    HT     HTML Template
    IT     Item
    IC     InfoCube
    VA     Variable
    CH     Characteristic
    KF     Key Figure
    ST     Structure (Reusable)
    CR     Crystal Report
    IL     Library of Web Items
    IA     InfoArea
    IP     InfoProvider (As Data Provider)
SO     Selection Object (in BW WEb Applications)
    BI     BEx Web Item
    BT     BEx Web Template
    3. This returns the hierarchy. Then render this hierarchy using some manual java or javascript. You could even use YUI for this stuff. It is more work now to build this workaround, but it will save you maintenance in the long run.
I typically try to avoid doing query level authorization at all costs.
Here's some sample code that isn't fully complete that might get you started with using treeview in YUI. I took the dynamic rendering model from YUI and built the first level node structure. All you have to do is make this recursive. Then on click you can call a web service WSDL wrapper around RSWAD_URL_GET to create and launch the URL. This is a dynamic rendering of a tree from a web service call. I'm going to add portal service call eventually to this example. I'll write this up as a how-to guide when I have time. Then the solution will be fully baked to dynamically render all portal security and BI security displaying only objects one should see, in one uniform hierarchy... Just google YUI for their dev kit...

  • Where are my extensions?

Running Dw CS4 on a mac (10.4.11) and I installed several extension from various creators using the extensions manager. Then I quit that and launched Dw. I created blank html page to insert and experiment with some of the new stuff and the extensions aren't showing up in the insert menu. Am I being an idiot? Where are they. I installed YUI and GoogleGadgets and phatfusion and a few others.

Not sure if this helps you or not.  But I usually access my extensions from little icons near the top of the toolbar or using the Command or Insert menus (near the bottom).  In any case, the extension provider should have given you some instructions on how to use their product.

  • Suggestions for Good AJAX forum/newsgroup/mailing list?

I'm in need of a rather specific UI implementation and I've
    found plenty of
AJAX libraries that ALMOST give me what I want out of the
    box, but nothing
that exactly matches. I need to find out which of the
    libraries is best
suited to modifications to do what I need and have no idea
    where to start.
Can anyone suggest a relatively active AJAX discussion group?
    I've found a
handful of forums, but none that are actually active.

Good, generic, Ajax forums, are hard to find (I am still
    looking for one
myself). Library specific forums are usually very good
    instead, I know the
ones from YUI and jQuery are worth following. Of course, they
become more useful *after* you pick your library...

  • CS4 Code Hinting Not Automatically Showing...

It says in the new features page that it has support for code
hinting for libraries such as jQuery.
Well how come it doesn't come up automatically when you type?
I have code hints enabled! I have to press Ctr+Spacebar for them to
    come up!
    Thanks.

    gnzicc wrote:
    > It comes up automatically for Spry doesn't it?
Yes, because the code hints for Spry are hard-coded into
    Dreamweaver.
The code hints for custom functions and objects, including
    jQuery, YUI,
and other frameworks, are not hard-coded. They're generated
    by code
introspection. That's why you need to press Ctrl+Space.
Full marks for doing a little research in Google, but didn't
    you notice
that one of the top items was a tutorial on the Adobe site
    about
    JavaScript code hints?
    http://www.adobe.com/designcenter/dreamweaver/articles/lrvid4048_dw.html
As you'll see from that tutorial, code hints come up after
    you type a
period following the name of a variable that contains a
    JavaScript
object. However, in my experience, you don't get the full
    range of hints
for jQuery. I'm pretty sure that's because of the way that
    jQuery is
    contstucted.
Another Google search would also reveal the following
    extension for
    jQuery code hints:
    http://www.xtnd.us/dreamweaver/jquery
I haven't used it, so can't comment on the quality or
    reliability of the
    extension.

  • CFLAYOUT & CFMENU Problem

Well I was actually very excited about the new
<cflayout> tag and the<cfmenu> tag. For many years I
have wanted the ability to build a user interface that was more
like a desktop application with out having to go to use YUI and all
the hand coding that goes with it along with it's cross-browser
    issues.
    I have created a layout using a <cflayout
type="border"> with a top, left and center area. The top area is
a menu bar and when I use <cfmenu> or any other css drop down
menu, the drop downs don't display past the edge of the
<cflayoutarea>. I have tried to set the z-index and that has
    no affect.
To me this makes the <cflayout> tag worthless, what is
the point of having a layout for an application if you can't use
drop down menus? I might as well have used a frameset to accomplish
    the same thing.
I have used the YUI and EXT library's in the past and never
had this issue, so why is it that when it got built into CF that it
    doesn't work?
And another issue is how do you change the color of the
border? Seems a bit strange that the border color is not a standard
    property that can be changed.
So far I am disappointed in these features. Adobe seems to
have dropped the ball on what should be common sense.
Am I the only one that thinks this way?

I think you're jumping the gun a little bit here.
I don't use these features myself, I prefer to use my own UI
built bits. BUT, I'm pretty sure the code generated by CF would
produce divs and other HTML tags that have either a class or an ID
applied to them. CF would then import a style sheet to style these
    accordingly.
So, if CF does not provide a way to manipulate the look of
the UI directly through the tag itself, try over-riding it by using
a more important CSS style in your style sheet. Look at the class
or ID and apply a style with the !important; rule - to make sure it
    is looked at first. e.g:
    .someCFclassName { border-color: #000000!important; }
As for the CFMENU not being able to go past the bottom of the
CFLAYOUT - this to me does not sound like a z-index issue, but
rather an overflow issue. The style applied to the CFLAYOUT div
generate by CF might have a style with - { overflow: hidden; }.
This would also mean that anything flowing over it, like your menu
would be hidden. Also try manipulating this elements overflow and
see what happens. Some options include:
hidden, auto, scroll - check out some CSS sites for more
    information.
    Good luck.
    Thanks,
    Mikey.

  • Converting .xhtml to .JSF

    Hi All,
I have an issue in B2C Website when i open website using url  http://<host>:<Port>/zApp/contentmanagement/HomePage.jsf?wec-appid=app&wec-locale=en_US&wd=x     it will open startPage here in the site we have a client logo  when i click on the client logo my url should navigate to same homepage it is navigating, but in the url it is showing as http://<host>:<Port>/zApp/contentmanagement/HomePage.xhtml?wec-appid=app&wec-locale=en_US&wd=x
here it is converting .jsf to .xhtml. Please help me how to convert it from .xhtml to .jsf.
    Thanks in Advance
    Regards,
    Rahul.

    Please advise,
    Oleg.

  • "While executing canInspectSelection" Why can't Adobe address this?

I downloaded some widgets from Adobe exchange, including some from YUI and PhatFusion. Since then I keep getting the "While executing canInspectSelection" error 11 times (I have eleven widgets in all, I guess) when I try to edit any library item, and on other occasions. I click OK 11 times and I can work on the page.
Using Dreamweaver CS4 on a G5 Mac, upgraded from CS3 (still on my hard drive), using Extension Manager CS4.
I see this asked about in the forums and on other sites, but I never see it dealt with by Adobe so we know how to get rid of those warnings.
Can't Adobe check this out and offer users some solutions? It must be a frequent problem for many Dreamweaver users. I am getting very frustrated about this...
    Thanks,
    Doug Dye

This is an extension code problem (from the mxp file), the message you are getting is Dreamweaver checking the inserted (or potentially inserted), item. It may also be a conflict of items (2 extensions doing the same thing) the only way to fix this is:
    1. uninstall one of the conflicting items.
    2. Contact the extension builder and see if they are aware of the conflict, (many are not, and rely on feedback).
Building an extension change when it became a CS product any many of the older extensions now conflict with the DW API, (the old Macromedia API was much easier to use).
The canInspectSelection() is a JavaScript function from the Dreamweaver API.
The only way Adobe can solve this problem is by only allowing a limited number of extensions (neither desirable or wanted).

  • Font and Font size in my YUI calendar overriding main text styles?

I downloaded the YUI calendar but the default font settings are overriding my main text styles...??

I know I'm bad for asking w/out it being online.  It's not quite ready, hopefully it will be online early next week.
I can tell you that when I added the calendar to my site there were 2 seperate CSS style sheets that came with it.  One called fonts-min.css and the main calendar one is the calendar.css file.  The css font styles that govern the calendar seem to be in the fonts-min.css and look like:
    body{
    *font-size:small;*font:x-small;
        font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
        font-size: 13px;
        line-height: 1.231;
    }select,input,button,textarea{font:99% arial,helvetica,clean,sans-serif;}table{font-size:inherit;font:100%;}pre,code,kbd,samp,tt {font-family:monospace;*font-size:108%;line-height:100%;}
I have the fonts and sizes I would like in my main body tag and also I tried again by styling a <p> tag; which I know is redundant...
** my css styles are in an external style sheet; fyi
I like the way the default calendar is styled but when it overrides my main text it makes the main text way too small....
