  • MailOnline videos won't play in Firefox unless in safe mode although they're fine in Explorer.

It's for my mum, honest. Firefox 25, java and flash uptodate but the Mail Online videos won't play unless I start Firefox in safemode. A large white rectangle appears but nothing else.

You can try these steps in case of issues with web pages:
Reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.
*Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
    *Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
    *Press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)
Clear the cache and cookies only from websites that cause problems.

If it works in Safe Mode and in normal mode with all extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) disabled then try to find which extension is causing it by enabling one extension at a time until the problem reappears.
Close and restart Firefox after each change via "Firefox > Exit" (Windows: Firefox/File > Exit; Mac: Firefox > Quit Firefox; Linux: Firefox/File > Quit)

  • Certain youtube videos won't play in Firefox

Firefox 20.0.1, windows 7, flashplayer up to date.
Certain youtube videos won't play. The advert beforehand plays, and then the video just displays a black screen, no loading, trying to skip to a later time in the video doesn't work. It seems to be certain youtube users whose videos won't play, users whose videos I was able to watch only yesterday. The featured video on the user's channel is watchable, but not when opened separately.
IE won't show the affected videos either.

In addition to these symptoms, I've noticed that I can view these troubled videos on my cellphone just fine, but neither my XP or Win7 machine, which have all software updated can view. So if it was on youtubes side, it wouldn't work on my phone either.

  • Embedded Video won't play in Firefox

I have a youtube video embedded on a website. When played in
IE it's fine, but when played in Firefox the entire page gets
    replaced by this error:

    found on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while
trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request. "
I do have the newest Shockwave for FF installed on my pc
(10.x) and I've been told that it's not just my FF that it crashes

  • HTML5 videos won't play correctly with built-in player

    1) When I try to play html5 video, firefox only shows me a few frames, and then screen become grayed and «loading» animation appears. Then it shows me next few frames, and a loading screen again. It continues until the whole video will load.
    2) When it finally loads, video and sound are a little bit choppy if the video is in good quality. Other browsers play that videos without any lags or loading screens. Here's the example of one of that videos I couldn't watch normally: https://m.vk.com/video-51189706_170637645
I've looked up at memory indicator, and it showed me that I have at least 200Mbs of free RAM during the loading of these videos. Also every memory limit setting in about:config is set to -1.
I use the latest firefox version from Play Store and own an Asus TF300T tablet (nvidia tegra3 and 1Gb of RAM), so it's certainly not a lack of hardware power.
I also should note that when I watch youtube videos (with firefox, not youtube player, which I've removed), everything is fine — videos are playing and loading at the same time.

I cannot view that video however we are in the process of making some major changes to video playback on Android. Currently these changes are in our Aurora build of Firefox it can be downloaded at https://aurora.mozilla.org if you would like to see if this improves the video playback.

  • HTML5 Video won't play in Safari, when frameset used

I'm the Product Manager for a company who has a product that revolves around video. We've noticed that while we can get the HTML5 video capability in Safari on the iPad working fine in a test harness, as soon as we place that harness in the simplest of framesets (with the video area clearly visible), the video's "play" command no longer works. Oddly enough, the video object's properties can be read/written, but it appears that the "play" function itself does not work (and presumably the pause and load functions). The frustrating thing is that the video does appear to be loading - if you change currentTime to a different position, you can see the video frame at that position. The media just won't play.

...also, when I use the video's tags "controls" (shows player controls within the embed), Play/Pause DOES work. So, it appears to be a bug with the scripting layer.

  • HTML5 Video won't play on my ipad or iphone.

A video I encoded for mp4 and built in HTML5 won't play on my ipad or iphone.
It plays fine on Safari on MacBook as well as Google Chrome on Windows7, both in the HTML5 player.
I have encoded the mp4 in a program called HandBrake using H.264 for video and AAC for Audio and the device set to ipad (I also tried iphone).
    URL is timken.com/sites/momentoftrust/en-us/documents/html5.html
    The video is at timken.com/sites/momentoftrust/en-us/documents/maddy_ipad.mp4
I am just stumped as to why the video plays fine in the HTML5 container on a MacBook using Safari but will not play on the ipad or iphone.

    Slamb0513-
The video you have at the html5.html URL is different from the other, but it also plays when downloaded and transferred to the iPad.
I didn't examine your html5.html file.  I take it you are not hand-encoding, but using a program that does that for you.  Here is the html line I used to download one of your files:
    <LI> <A HREF="http://timken.com/sites/momentoftrust/en-us/Documents/pr6.mp4">MP4 Test</A>
I downloaded the mp4 file by right-clicking the URL and selecting Download Linked File As.  Just clicking the URL plays the video on the Mac Pro's Safari, but I don't know how to test it on the iPad.

  • Video won't play in Firefox

A Quicktime video plays perfectly when viewed on Safari, but in Firefox the video is blank. It plays, but only with sound. What do I do?
    Here is the page:

    Thanks for the help.
    Steve

I publish all my movies in .m4v file format. Either with QTPro/X "Save for Web" or from iMovie or straight to .m4v in QTPro/X.
Some I convert to to and from flv/wmv with VisualHub/iSquint.
And wmv made on a PC I either convert on a PC with [Format Factory|http://www.formatoz.com> or on a Mac as described above.
They are displayed in Flash Video players, QuickTime and HTML 5.
And you don't need .flv or wmv. Flash/Silverlight players support .m4v files.
    Same movie, multiple displays.
And with the advent of HTML 5 I use OGG audio and video.

  • Videos won't play in firefox but will in chrome

Have found the solution to my problem, switched to google chrome end of problem.

hello, if you just want to leave feedback you can do so at https://input.mozilla.org/feedback ...
in case you want to troubleshoot the issue in firefox we might need a bit more information of what's going wrong. what happens when you try to play videos - are there any error messages? in addition, could you go to the firefox ''menu ≡ > help ? > troubleshooting information'', copy the contents of that page and paste them here into a reply on the forum? this might give us more of a clue what is going on...

  • Videos won't play in Firefox, but play in other browsers

I'm running Firefox 14 with a default setting to Yahoo. All videos that are connected either through a link or directly connected through youtube will not play. I either get a white screen with nothing displayed or a black screen with an error message that says try again later. It doesn't matter if I connect directly from Firefox or from Yahoo. If I open my AOL browser through Explorer it will play all videos.

You can check for problems caused by a recent Flash 11.3 update and possibly downgrade to Flash 11.2 or 10.3.

  • Videos won't play on Firefox

I have windows vista home edition, 64 bit; I have both IE 9 and Firefox although I mainly use Firefox.  I downloaded the latest flash player (11.9.900.170) to both IE and Firefox; the plug-ins are active.  Flash player plays on IE but not on Firefox; on youtube nothing displays; there is either a white space or it says the "video is no longer available"
I've removed older versions of flash player and reinstalled; that didn't work; I've removed firefox and reinstalled; that didn't work either; I always seem to have a problem with every new flash player update and firefox.
    What am I doing wrong?

Can you post a link to such a video that gives you the error message?

  • Amazon Prime Instant Videos won't play in Firefox (Win 7)

When I try to stream a video from Amazon Prime, I usually get this error: "Sorry we were unable to stream this video. This is likely because your flash player needs to be updated"
I do have the latest Flash player and Firefox. After some searching I found this page http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/protected-video-content-play.html which says to remove and replace a bad Adobe Access DRM Module. I followed the steps precisely, and after reinstalling and relaunching Flash Player, I now have a NativeCache directory with only a single file in it NativeCache.directory with size 0kb.
Am I doing something wrong? Or is Adobe teasing us with this page suggesting the problem can be fixed?
    Thanks!
    =aw

I was having the same problem with Window 7 (64bit), Firefox 20.0.1 (and in prior versions) and with AFP Ver 11.7.700.169 (and previous versions).
With Firefox, I have several add-ons. So I restarted Firefox in Safe Mode and was still received the same error message.
I was able to stream Amazon Instant Videos (with all Firefox add-ons enabled) after visting the Flash Player Settings Manager website - The Settings Manager is a special control panel that runs on your local computer but is displayed within and accessed from the Adobe website. I made the following changes (I have provide the according links).
    1. Protected Content Playback panel - I selected the "Reset License Files" button. Link -  http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager08.htm l
    2. Website Privacy Setting panel - I selected "Always Allow" for both "ecx.images-amazon.com" and "amazon.com". Link - http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager06.htm l
    3. Website Storage Settings panel - I increased the storage from the default 100KB to 1MB for both "ecx.images-amazon.com" and "amazon.com". Link - http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager07.htm l
After the above changes I was able to stream Amazon Instant Videos. It is possible that only 1 or 2 of thes above changes were necessary, as I haven't tried to recreate the original problem.

  • Captivate 7, HTML5 video won't play

    Hello forum,
I'm trying to make a Captivate project with video's in it.
I tryed using MP4, FLV and F4V video files but non of them will show up in google chrome.
The project just plays without showing anything, but in flash it works normally.
    Thanks in advance,
    Paul

If you're talking about video not working in HTML5 output, upload your published content to a web server to test and make sure the web administrator has allowed video files of your specific mimetype.  Don't bother trying to test the HTML5 content from your local drive.  Always use a web server.

  • You Tube videos won't play using FireFox 12

Fire Fox will not play YouTube videos. When I go to the site, I see just a black box with no error messages. The video never loads. I have uninstalled flash player and re-installed with no success in playing you tube videos. IE will play you tube videos! I have disabled all anti-virus, firewall, plugins, etc and FireFox still will NOT play YouTube videos. Please help!

This still did not work. I have noticed that FireFox will not play any video on any website. I am able to play all video using IE browser.

  • Youtube videos won't play with Firefox.

Youtube is still working with Safari and Chrome but for some reason it stopped working with Firefox. This happened the night before it updated to Firefox 25. I thought the update was the issue but it's not. I've tried everything that I've read about to fix this issue. I've tried playing vids in safe mode, updated to the latest version of flash, disabled hardware acceleration, I've cleared all cookies and cache, I've reset firefox, I've deleted all my add-ons, I've deleted and re-installed firefox. Nothing is working. Anyone got a clue what to do?
    OSX 10.6.8 Macbook 2.4 Ghz

I have the same problem. I followed all of the above suggestions to no avail. Advertisements play fine. But when the skip option pops up, it doesn't count down smoothly from 5 -0 seconds. It will say, 5, 4, 5, 5, 4, and then sometimes you can skip ad. It doesn't matter if you skip ad or not. When the video comes up, it acts like it wants to load and play but will only play for a second, then restarts from beginning and says an error occured. Same thing in Explorer. And this is a brand new, Windows 7 64-bit computer. Is there anything else I can do to get Youtube videos to play?
