Z-87 G45 No Sound with Windows 8

Just built a new computer from scratch.
Z-87-G45 mobo
gtx 670 ftw
i-5 4670k
8gb ram
windows 8
600w psu
Its up and running perfectly, except for my audio. The front panel is connected properly, headpones don't work in the jacks or in the back (green line out jack). Neither do my speakers. I installed drivers from Live Update 5, as well as manual installed realtek from the mobo drivers section. Updated windows 8, re-installed realtek like 5 more times. I've gone into realtek manager and tried every setting option.

IF you are seeing activity and nothing is muted etc.
In the volume mixer, click on device and make sure all is correct there.
Click on spears and make sure it is set to the correct one.
If all this is correct and still no sounds, you should try building the computer outside of the case on a non-conductive surface in a barebones config and re-test.
Plain cardboard or raw wood is usually a good surface for this.

HDMI no sound with Windows 7 upgrade

I am unable to get sound with HDMI , but visual is working, after upgrading from Vista to Windows 7. G70 series laptop, s/n 2CE92870KS.
Under control panel/device manager/display adapters, what is listed is mobile intel (r) 4 series express chipset family.
Under control panel/device manager/sound video games, what is listed is coexant high definition smart audio 221 and intel high definition audio hdmi.
Under control panel/sound/playback, what is listed is coexant high definition smart audio 221.
I am floundering greatly trying to figure out why the intel high definition audio hdmi is not listed under sound/playback. I would greatly appreciate any help. Thanks

Hi Jim,
Try this to see if it helps. Download the Chipset driver and Graphics driver on the links below and save the installers to your Desktop.

Graphics Driver
Next, in Device Manager, open Display Adapters, right click on the Intel graphics chip and select Properties. Click the Driver tab and then select uninstall. When done, do the same for the for the Intel High Definition Audio Codec found under Sound Video and Game Controllers.
Now return to the Desktop and install the Chipset driver and then the Graphics driver. When complete, reboot the PC and see if this has helped. Check in Device Manager that both the Intel Graphics and the Intel Hi Definition Audio codec have reinstalled successfully and whether you now see the HDMI Audio option under playback devices ( found in Control Panel, Sound ) as shown as the top option on the screenshot below ( ignore the fact that it's ATI, i just mean the TV icon option ).

If it shows up correctly, try the HDMI connection and see if it now functions properly.

Audigy ls and no sound with Windows media playe

I have an audigy ls and can play music with winamp, and dvd's with power dvd. However, when i receive audio/video clips via email, i am not able to get audio when i play the clips with windows media player 9. The video works fine. the trouble shooter tells me taht there is no hard ware installed or the device is being used by another program or the device is not functioning properly. i get error codes 0xC00DBA: Cannot play the file and Condition ID = 0x00000000. However, when i try to play MP3's that i can play on winamp, I receive the same error messages as I mentioned above. I know that the MP3's are good... I can play them on winamp without problems. And I've been able to convert them ot WAV files and burned them on CD-R's and they ahve worked fine. the problems seems to be between media player and the sound card/drivers.

Hi guys,I've updated my computer to Windows 10 but now Spotify isn't working anymore. It seems that songs are playing, but there is no sound (I've already checked the loudspeakers, also on Windows). The WebPlayer is working without problems.Can anyone help me with this problem?Thanks a lot!

I had the same issue. After I updated to Windows 10, Spotify would play the song, but there was no volume no matter how much I toyed with the volume settings. SOLUTION: Uninstall Spotify and then Reinstall it. This solved the issue for me. Best of Luck!

Problem: No sound with windows 7 upgrade

I own a "HP TouchSmart IQ771.uk " and I have upgraded it from Windows Vista to Windows 7.
but now I have no sound. I believe its because It doesnt have the driver that supports Windows 7, but Im not sure.

Try downloading and installing the Vista driver from
Microsoft Update Catalog (Make sure you download the correct version (32-bit, x86; 64-bit, amd64)

You will need to extract the cab file and use Device Manager to install the driver.

Drivers are all working but still no sound with windows 7

I have a very frustrating sound issue. My sound has worked completely fine up until yesterday. When I booted up my computer, I realized that no sound came out. I've gone through many forums to find the solution and I've checked all the simple stuff like making sure that my devices are enabled, audio service enabled, reinstalled/upadated the sound drivers etc... I've even gone into BIOS and loaded default settings and still no sound. I've gotten to the point where I have no idea what else I can do. Help please!

I'm sorry that you are running into this issue of no sound. Do you get any sound through headphones?
Also I would suggest trying a hard reset as the next quickest and less invasive step. This can sometimes fix strange issues because it drains all of the electricity out of the unit. Here are the steps for a Hard Reset.

MSI Z87-G45 GAMING.. does the killer networking work with Windows 8.1?

I was scrolling through the reviews for this board and someone mentioned in the reviews that the killer networking isnt supported with windows 8.1 yet.
Is this still true or are there updated drivers for windows 8.1 now?

HP pavilion dv6000 with windows 7 64 bit has no sound after disassembled.

I have an HP Pavilion dv6000 and after i disassembled and reassembled it to clean the fan, the lap top has no sound. In the device manager an error on ''PCI bus9, Device 9, function 2 & 3'' was appeared but after i installed new drivers the errors was fixed and it was written that the device was working properly. but unfortunately the device is not working properly because i stills have no sound. I also disassembled and reassembled for second time to find out if the problem was minor like an unplugged cable but everything was completely fine. Operation system: Windows 7 64 bit. Can someone please tell me what to do?

Compaq Presario R3000 how to get the sound to work with Windows 7 RC

1) Download SP29586.exe: ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp29501-30000/sp29586.exe
2) Run it, Create a directory c:\ swsetup
3) Once all the Files are extracted DO NOT INSTALL
4) Now Goto the Start Menu Click on Devices and Printers, the Click on the Name you have called your machine this will be marked will a yellow triangle as the sound driver windows 7 has install already is a realtek ac 97 which is not working,
5) Once your Machinename you will see a general tab and and hardware tab select the hardware tab.
6) Look for the Realtek ac 97 under the Device functions, select that and click properties,
7) Now tab to the Driver, now click update driver,
8) Select the option let me pick from a list of devices drivers, now click have disk
9) Click on Browse select the following location Swsetup\SP29586\SMAXWDM\W2K_XP and click on smwdmCH6.inf
10)Now the Soundmax Driver should come up select ok and next. Now your Sound will work

I am basicaly having the same problem with my labtop. I tried the following above and yet I still have not been able to get my sound to work. I have had some problems with my power and sound cards before but after I reinstalled windows my graphics card and sound card have not been working to their full potential. I thaught that it was a 64 bit graphics card, but now I am not so sure. I had to jostle the power cord in the back till I mannaged to find a perfect spot to keep the computer running. Before the reinstallation I had to put pressure on the left side of the computer to get the sound to work.. but even then it still came in and out.. "The sound that is." I can see the same driver in the codex menue and it is yellow but, what you stated above did not work.
It says (Cannot continue the hardware update) The wizard cannot find a better match for your hardware than the software that you curently have installed. and then tells me to keep the current software. My sound Icon does not show up when I go to the settings.... I can't play diablo 2 on this no idea why... But my screen is choppy when I scroll through internet sites and it did not do that before. If other devices can connect to the network without problems, it means that the router can provide wireless internet. For this situation, an isolation process is needed to be able to find a fix.
Was the computer tested to connect through Wi-Fi before you bought it?
Did you do Mac address filter on your router?
Make sure that the router is using WPA/WPA2 or WPA2 encryption type just like what Chester has recommended. If your router is already set to that security type, you may test by disabling the wireless security of the WI-Fi router. Check if it will connect or not.
Another thing to check is the properties of your wireless connection. To do that, Go to Network and Sharing center > Click change adapter settings > right click “Wireless” > go to Properties> click Internet protocol IPV4> check the Properties button below > make sure that it’s set to both Obtain IP automatically and Obtain DNS server automatically.

I Install windows 8.1 64 Bit in my Macbook pro 13" Mid 2012 , I don't get any sound in windows, try every thing nothing work.
I had Yosemite 10.10.2 with windows 8 all was good, since I update to OS X 10.10.3 I can't login back to my windows it's crash,
so I decide to install windows again but this time windows 8.1, and now no sound in windows ???? Any help ? try all Bootcamp 5.1 5621 , Manually install drivers etc etc ????

Do you see any sound devices in Device Manager?
The following screen shot is from the same model you have running OS X 10.10.3 and W8.1. If you used EFI boot to force install W8.1, it will not work.
You can download drivers from System requirements to install Windows on your Mac via Boot Camp - Apple Support for your specific Mac and Boot Camp: Install or repair Boot Camp drivers and test.

Bad Sound in Windows 7 (32 bit) with bootcamp 3.1 on iMac 8,1

I have the following sound issues in windows 7:
I have a strange noise in the background of the sound. On low volume it is more notice able then on high volume. The noise seems to come from the left side only, when i mute the left side the sound seems to be ok.
When i mute the sound (both sides), there came still hearable output from my imac. It seems to come only or more from the right side.
The headphone jack is not working. The system detects the plug in of the headphone, but that's all. The sound come still from the internal speakers.
I try the following things to fix it:
I installed the newest realtek sound driver. It make no difference.
I deactivated wlan and bluetooth to check for interference and conflict problems. It had no effect.
I try different settings in realtek sound manager and windows sound mixer. The only setting that helped was muting the left side. Not really a solution...
In snowleopard everything works fine.
Perhaps anybody can help me.

Just an FYI for you.
It is always best to check with the software manufacturer FIRST. They will tell you if they have tested the product and the version, as well as whether or not it will work with Windows 7.

There is a pulldown from which you can choose "hardware" and "software".

In any event a lot of the times, Vista drivers will work in lieu of Windows 7 drivers, however, it's not 100%!
As stated previously, it's best to have the Windows 7 certified drivers installed.
Microsoft does have an official Windows 7 Support Forum located here http://tinyurl.com/9fhdl5 . It is supported by product specialists as well as engineers and support teams. You may want to check the threads available there for additional assitance and support.
