Z-index problem in IE and Firefox

Hello
I have created a site with templates and absolute position divs that are nested inside a wrapper div.
For a menu I am using the spry horizontal widget.
The menu is a non editable item in the template. There are some editable regions besides that.
In Safari the site appears correctly, but in IE and in Firefox in the PC the drop down menu items display under my div below the menu.
Please see:
http://www.performancesportscenters.com/Site_V5/V5_pages/V5_location_bellevue1.html
and look at the source.
I have assigend the highest Z index to the menu, but the two browsers ignore that.
I have read that if you assign a heigher Z index to the parent div that it helps. But not in my case. Does the fact that I am using templates have anything to do with it?
Thank you on beforehand.
G Gaarde

Hi SnakEyez02
Thank you for your reply.
After I posted my question yesterday I ran across an article on Adobes site explaining about wmode.
I realized that my lower div on the pages that displayed wrong all had flash content, and the article says that flash content always display in the top layer regardless of z-index given.
http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/142/tn_14201.html
But if you assign a wmode in parameters of either transparent or opaque you can layer the flash with dhtml. I did this after my post and now the menu displays right in both IE and Firefox!
So you were looking at the already altered code.
I will still clean up the things you mentioned. But thank you very much for your quick reply.
Sincerely,
G Gaarde

    Problems with Safari and Firefox (HTTP?)
    On a laptop G4, 10.5.8 and Safari 5.02 I experience the following:
    On the account of my oldest daughter everything works fine, i.e. wireless internet works and no problems with mail or safari.
    On the same laptop, on the account of my other daughter, the wireless is OK, she can mail etc. But safari nor firefox works. It says: can’t find server (whatever site) and in the activity window it looks if safari tries to open files (in the safari preferences-folder) in stead of http. Same applies to Firefox, so maybe it has more to do with HTTP in general?
    What goes wrong? What to do? I tried the following on the host terminal (tips from Apple)
    defaults write com.apple.safari WebKitDNSPrefetchingEnabled -boolean false
    and
    defaults delete com.apple.safari WebKitDNSPrefetchingEnabled
    but that did not help,
    Nanne

    I'm still wondering why it happens now at this moment in time...
    PC does seem to be a bit odd & inconsistent, the few times I've tested with it, at least so far as we content filtering goes; and if I remember rightly, you're not the first to report previously ok settings suddenly preventing some or all internet until pc is switched off altogether.
    It may work when re-enabled

    I've had this happen now and again. You can rebind the lease yourself with:
    $ dhcpcd --rebind
    You could also try increasing the timeout by adding
    TimeoutDHCP=
    to your netctl profile/s - see netctl.profile(5) as WonderWoofy suggests. Although I haven't tried the latter.

  • When I use Firefox and Hotmail at startup, Firefox freezes for about 1 minute, and then I can continue. First I though it was my computer but 2 other girls in my class have the same problem with Hotmail and Firefox. What can I do to change this?

    When I start Firefox, about 15 seconds after I start it, my Firefox freezes for about 1 minute. I found out that it is my Hotmail that makes Firefox freeze.
    First I thought it was my computer, but I have 2 other girls in my class that use Hotmail and Firefox and their computer also freezes for 1 full minute.
    This is very annoying, what can I do to change this?

    Try deleting cookies and cache:

    '''Check cookie exceptions'''
    1. Tools | Options | Privacy Panel
    2. Set '''Firefox will: Use custom settings for history.''' '''Insure Accept cookies for sites and accept third-party cookies''' is selected

  • Problem with CS2 and firefox 3.6x

    i have a strange problem arising from a combination of photoshop cs2 and firefox 3.6x browser in XP sp3
    when photoshop is minimised to the taskbar and then firefox is minimised, the focus of firefox seems to be passed to photoshop unexpectedly, turning its button dark blue and making it very difficult to maximise photoshop (repeated clicking and swapping of apps sometimes frees it)
    has anyone else every experienced anything like this with 3.6?
    i have installed 3.5.10 atm which works with no problem at all and holds its own focus when minimised.
    Steve

    None of those ideas worked. I used the Disk Utility and it indicated that all permissions were OK. I cleared the caches and cookies on Safari and FireFox, and even re-installed FireFox and deleted all of the old files associated with it. Both browsers brought up the Apple support website using the IP address, but neither browser would allow me to log into Apple support to follow this thread. I turned off the Firewall thinking it was the problem. I am running the PC and iMac through a router, then a dsl modem. Could any of those items be the problem?

  • Fluid grid layout problem in IE and Firefox

    I just got DW CS6 and decided to try the fluid grid layout. This is my first try at doing it. I have 12 grid columns with 3 divs across the page. Each div spans 4 columns. In Opera, Safari and Chrome, everything works fine. However, in IE and Firefox, the div on the right side of the page drops down under the left div (the middle one and the left one stay where they belong). How do I fix this? The page is still a work in progress (obviously), but the url is http://www.brucebarrdesign.com/index_fluid.htm
    Thanks

    Hi
    I've only just upgraded to CS6 so not tried the feature myself yet, but I like fluid layouts so will be. The three colums all have the css style attributes:  width: 32.2033%; and margin-left: 1.6949%; in fluid_layout.css (1st colmn has a margin of 0).
    Now I don't know how familiar you are with web coding and this isn't the place to try to tutor you in it. The number of digits after the decimal tells me you've let DW assign these % entirely by itself without any guidance. Those measurements all add up a bit tight, to me, to 100% (I've not done the maths). I always allow a little leeway for the difference in the way the browsers calculate things - not so it's visually disturbing - but precisely to avoid this very problem. I'd round the figures down manually in the css styles dialogues or by editing the stylesheet directly.
    width: 32%; and margin-left: 1.5%;  checking the maths so I'd know how much % leeway that leaves.
    Like I said I've not used this feature myself yet so I don't know if there is somewhere to tell DW to round numbers down itself.
    Hope this helps.

  • Problem with ORARRP and Firefox

    We installed ORARRP utility on a pc. If we create an .rrpt file and double click it the orarrp
    utility captures the request and pops up a dialogue box. So the orarrp utility
    is successfully installed in the system.
    If we use Internet Explorer to run an .rrpt report (through an oracle forms application) the orarrp utility captures
    the request. So with IE is working fine.
    If we use firefox to run an .rrpt report (through an oracle forms application) the orarrp utility is not called
    and firefox just presents the .rrpt file on the screen.
    This issue is met in all platforms, all oracle versions, all firefox versions.
    It is very important to make it run with firefox since due to another issue some of our clients are
    forced to use firefox instead of IE.

    My solution is patching iWeb to ignore shadows with Firefox 5.0 (without warranties - you should test it )
    a) locate iWebImage.js in iWeb (usally in /Applications/iWeb.app/Contents/Resources/Scripts/Site) - with finder you must use "show package content"
    b) open this file and locate funtion "applyToElement: function(shadowed)
    c) skip shadowing with userAgent Firefox/5.0 (see if-Statement)
    d) republish the website
        applyToElement: function(shadowed)
            var framePos = new IWPoint(shadowed.offsetLeft, shadowed.offsetTop);
            var frameSize = new IWSize(shadowed.offsetWidth, shadowed.offsetHeight);
            var opacity = 1.0;
            if((navigator.userAgent.indexOf("Firefox/5.0") <= -1) && (shadowed != null))
                shadowed = $(shadowed);

  • Problem with Safari and Firefox opening some websites

    In Firefox I have recently been getting:
    THE CONNECTION IS RESET
    The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.
    * The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few
    moments.
    * If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
    connection.
    * If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
    that Firefox is permitted to access the Web
    Also a message in Safari:
    "Safari can’t open the page because the server unexpectedly dropped the connection, which sometimes occurs when the server is busy. You might be able to open the page later."
    It is only occurring with a few sites, but occurs on the same websites in both browsers.
    I'm using an iMac, running OSX 10.4.11 and using Airport to connect to a Netgear wireless router.
    I've emptied cashes, cleaned cookies, reset browsers etc, I've run MacScan, but the problem persists.
    Having already done some on-line searches I have seen people talk about proxies, DNS and possible malware (though usually referring solutions to PC's.
    Any one know of a fix for this?

    Hi,
    Make sure your are running the latest version of Safari. From the Safari Menu Bar click: About Safari
    The version number will be displayed there. You need to be using 4.0.4 If Safari needs updating go to your Apple Menu then click Software Updates.
    Safari 4.0.4 requires the 2009-001 Security Update. Open System Preferences/Software Updates - Installed Updates. If that update is not listed go here.
    http://support.apple.com/downloads/SecurityUpdate_2009_001__Tiger_PPC
    Also, open System Preferences/Network. Select the tab. Make sure none of the boxes are
    checked under: Select a proxy server to configure
    Try disconnecting the router from it's power source for 5 minutes, reconnect the router and
    restart your Mac.

  • Alignment problem in IE and Firefox

    i am using this code for creating a table in my jsp, code is working fine for IE but in mozilla firefox its giving unnecessary spaces. i am not getting,why in firefox this problem is coming or which tag is not acceptable in firefox......
    <table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0">

    <td class="blueText13" valign="bottom"><strong>Partnering Interest</strong> </td>

    <tr align="left" valign="top">
    <td valign="top"><img src="images/greystrip1.gif" width="100%" height="1"></td>

    I would need the blueText13 CSS class and the image (or at least the width and height) in order to help you. But this is more an HTML question, rather than a JSP one.

    Try clearing the Cache in Firefox.
    Tools-> Clear Recent History -> [v] Cache
    or
    Tools->Options->Advanced->Network -> Offline storage -> [Clear Now]
    Youtube may have made some changes recently. Clear the Youtube cookie if above does not do it.

    Sorry to say that I´ve looked at the code and I
    can´t find the issue. I´m more of a solve by fiddling
    type. But if you´re using CSS, why not just go for a table
    layout to make sure you get it right? The page is not that complex
    and it shouldn´t be much of an issue.
    There´s several other issues with the page though, like
    lack of title tag, and an image menu- For SEO purposes you should
    really make a CSS menu with text links.

  • Problem with Java and Firefox?

    After recently updating my firefox, I noticed that Java no longer will run. Everything is up to date and I have cleared internet and Java cache.
    But I put the disk image for my firefox update back on to my desktop and Java was running again.
    Any ideas?
    I am running Snow Leopard 10.6.6

    Are you using NoScript or another blocker?
    But I put the disk image for my firefox update back on to my desktop and Java was running again.
    What does this mean? Java runs from an uninstalled disk image, but it doesn't run from an installed version? Are you trying to run Firefox from a disk image in your applications folder?

  • Indexing Problem with FILE_DATASTORE and .pdf files

    Hello all,
    Do any of you have an example showing how to index .pdf files through FILE_DATASTORE? I am able to successfully index text and .doc files but not a .pdf file. Below is the script that I use to index my files:
    create index myindex on mytable(docs)
    indextype is ctxsys.context
    parameters ('datastore COMMON_DIR filter ctxsys.null_filter');
    I am using Oracle 8.1.6
    Thanks you!!!
    -garrett

    I don't think that you are able to index anything else then plain ascii texts, because you are not using the INSO filter.
    Use preferences like this:
    exec ctx_ddl.drop_preference('NO_PATH');
    exec ctx_ddl.create_preference('NO_PATH','FILE_DATASTORE');
    exec ctx_ddl.drop_preference('MY_LEXER');
    exec ctx_ddl.create_preference('MY_LEXER','BASIC_LEXER');
    exec ctx_ddl.set_attribute('MY_LEXER','MIXED_CASE', 'NO');
    exec ctx_ddl.set_attribute('MY_LEXER','INDEX_THEMES','NO');
    exec ctx_ddl.set_attribute('MY_LEXER','INDEX_TEXT', 'YES');
    exec ctx_ddl.drop_Preference ('MY_FILTER');
    exec ctx_ddl.create_Preference ('MY_FILTER','INSO_FILTER');
    exec ctx_ddl.drop_section_group ('MY_SECTION');
    exec ctx_ddl.create_section_group ('MY_SECTION','NULL_SECTION_GROUP');
