Z-world Little Giant drivers

Hi everyone,
I`m actually looking for a labview serial driver for a Z-World Little
Giant controler board ( Board Revision E, Dynamic C version 2). I
actually took over an instrumental control project and it`s seems that
it is the serial/board drivers that are faulty (constantly jamming for a
while for no reasons). So, if anyone have such drivers, I would like to
know where this person find theses drivers.

Hi Gang, Finally got fed up with HP, Dell, Acer, Gateway and bit the bullet and spent a little extra and bought this 13" inch mac book pro, added more ram and also added a ssd drive, very nice... fast, cool quiet, great battery life. Yesterday I felt brave and loaded a full 32 bit full version of Vista on Boot camp, I was amazed how easy the process was. after all the drivers where loaded, I noticed the sound (speakers) sounded a little weak so I loaded the OS X installation disk again still pretty weak sound??? Any help would be appreciated. Also it seems the machine runs hotter using Vista and uses a lot more juice ( That's Vista for you). Very pleased with the over all performance of this little giant..

I am Bootcamping with RTM Win7 Ultimate. I will go to that partition and see how my speakers are working. I recently set the partition up and have not had time to do much with it, including listen to it:)
I too have sworn off of PC's unless I can find one where the support is not outsourced. The Dell XPS lines at least used to not be outsourced. Don't get me wrong; I like all my PC's and especially RTM Win7, but I had a recent too-much-to-bear outsourced support problem on my HP laptop, and, as said, swore off of PC's unless .... I did get my problem solved perfectly eventually, but rather than go that route, I rather slit my throat.

  • I just ordered a macbook air today and need to know if the 128gb SSD is enough space. I presently have a macbook pro and am using only 30gb hard drive space so, the apple rep said 128 is enough as I do not load much pictures or gaming etc. Also is i5 ok.

Id choose the I5 yes, depends on what your usage is going to be,
....your question about "128 gig being enough" begs the question for IDEALIZED USE of your macbook AIr
In the case of a Macbook Air with ‘limited’ storage on the SSD, this distinction becomes more important in that in an ever rapidly increasing file-size world, you keep vital large media files, pics, video, PDF collections, music off your SSD and archived on external storage, for sake of the necessary room for your system to have free space to operate, store future applications and general workspace.  You should never be put in the position of considering “deleting things” on your macbook SSD in order to ‘make space’.
*Generally, unless you NEED the data at least once every few weeks or once a month,...it really does'nt NEED to be on the SSD of your Macbook Air.
Professionals who create and import very large amounts of data have almost no change in the available space on their computers internal HD because they are constantly archiving data to arrays of external or networked HD.
Or in the case of the consumer this means you keep folders for large imported or created data and you ritually offload and archive this data for safekeeping, not only to safeguard the data in case your macbook has a HD crash, or gets stolen, but importantly in keeping the ‘breathing room’ open for your computer to operate, expand, create files, add applications, for your APPS to create temp files, and for general operation.
Ive got more APPS than any human should have on my 128gig AIR,..(50 or so),....and 10gig of working data, important files etc etc.
Still have 82gig available....... the entire point is that someone shouldnt consider the Air a "storage device" for tons of pics, music, vids, etc.
*Never consider any computer a data storage device at any time under any circumstance, rather a data creation, sending, and manipulation device. Anyone who thinks data is safe on any computer, even copied upon multiple partitions is making a mistake that will, without fail, strike.
For needs of packing around a LOT of "big data" with your Air in its case..., get a nice 1TB HD for $70, or even a 2TB drive not much bigger.
Perfect 2TB HD, very slim, the "little giant"   made by Toshiba (have several of these) $119

  • E17 and Xgl, compiz etc.

    Hi,
i was wondering if i can use Xgl and / or compiz with e17. I could start Xgl and enlightenment.
The howto for compiz does not explain it. You can only choose between gnome / kde and (maybe xfce4)

    Hi,
I think some clarification is helpfull here
We have several distinct components on several levels that play together, and I woud like to write a short summary about them to answer some questions asked in this thread.
Level 0: The X server with several optional "Extensions", like Xorg or XGL, Xnest (on top of Xorg)
Level 1: The window manager      AND       the composite manager
    Level 2: The desktop environment
On level 0 we have Xorg, which since some years or so provides the "Composite" extension. This enables the usage of a composite manager. There can only be one composite manager running at once.
The window manager is not bound to a certain extension, but always available within X. There can also be only one window manager running at once.
Window manager: A window manager manages all windows, like drawing borders around them, let the user move & resize them, implement virtual desktops, etc. Both KDE and Gnome come with window managers like kwin or Metacity. E17 also comes with a window manager. Compiz also acts as window manager, therefor it does not only change the "look" but also the "feel"!
Composite manager: The composite manager is able to get all the window's contents, composite them into a single image and send this image to the video output. Therefor, if compositing is enabled, windows aren't drawn directly onto the screen by the X server anymore. Compositing is possible on _any_ Xorg server even without AIGLX or any 3D acceleration. I will talk about Compiz' requirements later.
Composite managers which were talked about here: xcompmgr, compiz, bling.
Desktop environment: The DE is not really an entity as-is, but rather a collection of interacting X clients which regularly comes with a distinct window manager. Gnome, KDE and E17 are called DEs. While it is possible to replace the window managers of Gnome and KDE easily by Compiz, this is not supported for E17 (yet). Compiz could also only act as a composite manager in cooperation with any window manager, but it was not designed that way.
So the reason why you cannot use compiz with E17 is simply that E17 already has a window manager; to run it with compiz you would have to try to manually replace E17's window manager with compiz, which would also result in the loss of distinct E17 features.
Now on Xgl: Xgl is layer 0, ie it is a replacement of Xorg. In fact, Xgl runs on top of another X-Server and uses that one's GLX extension to get itself a working GL content. After that, Xgl implements all the primitive drawing as GL commands. So it is possible to run E17 on top of Xgl, although the benefits are debatable (at least, Xgl could end up running faster because it uses the hardware's 3D acceleration to draw instead of its 2D acceleration -- while in an ideal world with perfect drivers, the 2D acceleration should be at least as fast, ...)
The question is: What is the purpose of Xgl and why it is needed? Well, basically a composite manager like Compiz (and not xcompmgr) uses OpenGL to composite the output image, enabling all the bling bling 3D effects on windows. To do so, it has to be able to generate textures out of the windows' contents (and that is, the texture maps directly to the window's pixmap lying in the graphic card's memory).
When XGL was invented, it wasn't possible to do this with a regular X server. AIGLX and the famous glx_texture_from_pixmap GL extension though provide a solution to this, whereas this GL extension was introduced into proprietary drivers a little bit late.
Today, there should be no need to use XGL for anyone! As XGL is a bad hack, you should try to avoid it, it introduces problems on various fields.
    Have a good night,
    Ypnos

Even with 0 lines of preview, it's not possible to see more than 8 full emails in the Inbox, because the sender's name is so large.
How do you make it smaller?
It's not necessary that I be able to read the thing from *12 feet* away.

Yes -- it indeed does appear that Apple has decided we all need large print fonts, and we'll like it that way!

  • Nokia 3G Booklet no longer supported by Nokia

Short story version – initially the Booklet 3G would intermittently lock up … now it will not stay running long enough to boot up before locking up, unless I ran from bootable CD and then it runs just fine.  Thought problem was the hard drive. Wanted to upgrade to SSD anyway so purchased SSD and it has the same issue …will not stay running and locks up during boot up.  Decided to send Booklet to Nokia service department in Texas.  After they had Booklet for 3 weeks they phoned me to say they no longer have any parts to service the Booklet and that I would have to find a 3rd party to get it serviced, but they had no recommendations.  Pretty crummy support IMO. Have any of you had the same issue and sent to a 3rd party for service? And would you recommend them?
    Solved!

  • Does anyone understand Security settings for Portfolios??

Thanks, Philip, you answered part of my question. I'm still searching for a way to keep people from printing or editing my artwork I place in the portfolio I'm building in Acrobat. Anyone's help would be greatly appreciated. I can't seem to find any specific information, at least none I can understand, on this simple problem.
Using Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.1.3 on a Mac. Creating a portfolio of my artwork to either burn to cd or email. I want the recipient to ONLY be able to VIEW the artwork, not print or edit. I do not understand the Security settings, and I have read the section on Choosing a security method. Still confused. After going to File> Modify PDF Portfolio> Secure Portfolio..... what do I choose in all the Security settings? I'm sure some of the people viewing the portfolio will have a full version of Acrobat, and not just the reader. Please help or advise where I can find more online help for this simple problem. Thanks.

As for editing art work you can do the as I suggested with layer with Opacity set to 1% then Flatten That will prevent (Or should) the editing art work.
AS for locking preventing printing and editing You can set that inTools > Security settings (then password protect).
Note Security  is fairly easy for anyone to evercome. There are bunches of programs out on the net to do just that.
Most Honest, Ethical, persons will abide. But there are I am afraid in today's world little of that left. So there is better than 50/50 chance your stuff will be swiped.I would not dream of doing such, except if it was one I created, I set password on, and forgot the password.
When I was growing up, when I was about 7, I picked up a pencil in a 5&10 cent store and when my mother found it when we got out the door she marched me back in , told me to give the pencil back, and applogize. Then when I got home my bottom was smoked. I still remember my backside smarting all these years. I would no more steal anything. than I would try to kill someone. Just not in my nature.
In todays world if a kid did similar, the parent is more likely shrug it off, or ask the kid how they got away with it , show and ask them how.

  • Shutting off whenever a phone call comes through.

A couple months ago, I had water damage on my iPhone 4S.  It stopped working for about a month, and my IT husband brought home the little screw drivers for the bottom of the phone, and I unscrewed it and saw there was still some water in the phone, after messing with it and letting it sit in rice for 2 days, my phone has been working ever since!  The only thing that has been happening is my battery life will say 35% and then all of a sudden I'll get a notification saying that I'm on 10% of battery life (and that's without even using my phone for an hour) and when I would plug it in, it would go back to 35%. I can handle that, but the only thing that bothers me is that my phone will abrubtly shut off when someone is calling me and this JUST started happening yesterday.  Should I reset my phone and then restore it back to my settings?

I have reset it at least 4 times already and it will work for maybe a day or two, then just shut off again while a phone call is coming in and today it started shutting off while I use the camera, or when I get a notification through Facebook and in order for this not to happen, I have to have it charging.  I don't want to charge my phone all day in order to use it.

  • Premiere Pro CC2014 freezing

Just Installed all the new CC2014 apps, and I can't get them to open up and run.  I'm trying with Premiere Pro now on a mac pro 5,1 OS X 10.9, and the first time I launched it, it froze on the splash page.  I waited somewhere between 10 - 15 minutes and it didn't do anything.  I tried force quitting Premiere Pro, which from the force quit box it said it did, but didn't actually remove the splash page.  I waited maybe another 20 minutes and the computer froze up, forcing a hard shut down.  After restarting, I launched Premiere Pro CC2014 again.  The app launched and went through the splash page fine.  I tried opening a pervious project (CC 7).  PPro asked me to update the project, so I saved it with a different name.  The app launched, with the "Media Pending" screen in the program monitor.  The Save Project progress bar window is hovering over the project, and is now frozen without showing any progress.  Premiere Pro has been frozen again for about 20 minutes.  I've tried force quitting PPro.  The Force Quit window no longer shows PPro in the box, but the app window is still frozen in place.  Any ideas?

I just can't get PPro CC2014 to work.  I have spent quite some time with tech support, and they have worked hard trying to figure out what the problem is.  CC2014 does in fact start, I can edit, but I can't get PPro to quit, and therefore can't shut down my computer.  Always hard shutdown.  But before I go any further, I do need to thank Anand K, Rahul N, and Sarthak G.  I know you all put in a lot of time, and your hard work is appreciated.
However, after working with permissions, booting from system user, deleting cache files, and a few other things they have done, PPro CC2014 still will not quit.  So this is what I did last friday (07/11/14) just to see if I could narrow the problem down a bit.
    1.  Using a brand new hard drive, I created a bootable disk with OSX Mavericks 10.9.4 on it, and named it Macintosh HD 2.
    2. Opened up the computer and swapped out the original hard drive (Macintosh HD), and replaced it with the newly created Macintosh HD 2.
    3. Installed CC2014, Premiere Pro, AE, and a few other CC2014 apps, plus plugins (coremelt and red giant), drivers etc... to get the machine back up and running.
    4. Followed steps above from BobanskyBh to correctly set permissions in Adobe folders.
    5. Accessing PPro 2014 projects on my RAID, used PPro CC2014, AE, and AU...  and the problem persists.  Tried quitting apps, then shutting down, and no luck.  frozen on the grey screen.
Does anyone out there in adobe land have any idea what might be happening?  Thanks.

  • 30" Cinema Display Discontinued?

Looks like Apple has discontinued the 30" Cinema display. They now offer a 27" display with a glossy screen. Perhaps this is old news, but I'm not finding any discussion on this. I'm a long time imaging pro (retoucher, photographer, illustrator) In a world of giant TV's, how could Apple choose to discontinue the flagship monitor? NO ONE I talk to likes the glossy screen monitors. Every photographic pro I know uses at least one 30" display, and some use 2 (side by side). I have seen QC issues in the monitors, but shrinking down to a 27" offering is not a step forward. Any INFORMED opinions here? (no hand wringing or emotional tirades)
Please Steve, give us a full size alternative (without the glossy screen).

Why does it have to be an Apple 30" display?
NEC, Eizo, HP, and Dell sell 30" displays that should have as good and in some cases (Eizo, NEC, and maybe HP) better image quality and far newer panels than the Apple 30", with more features on the monitor like more ports.
By trimming their product line to one single glossy 27" display, Apple is showing that they're not making serious monitors for serious people anymore. There are many other better choices now by companies investing heavily in pro monitors. There's no need to deprive yourself of a 30" monitor just because it no longer matches your Mac Pro case.
Here's how the Eizo compares to the Apple. Apple loses.
    http://www.luminous-landscape.com/reviews/two-displays.shtml
    Quote:
I was not ready for the shock when I asked him to show me the same images on an Apple display side-by-side. The difference was huge. The Eizo looked much more pleasing to the eye, much sharper, much smoother, completely uniform in color and intensity from edge to edge and from corner to corner, and the color gamut and dynamic range were clearly far superior. The more shocking thing to me was that after seeing a neutral gray displayed on the Eizo, I realized that we could not get a totally neutral gray on the Apple. We calibrated and profiled the Apple several times, and next to the Eizo the pure gray always had a reddish/purplish or a greenish cast.

  • Need Help Setting UpWRT54G2 V1.5 In Windows 7

First I apologize if I put this question in the wrong place.
I am having a really hard time setting up the WRT5462 in Windows 7.  The setup disk that came with the router doesn't work. It can never detect the router when it asks to plug the router in.
So I tried to set up the router manually in the web browser using 192.168.1.1 and I still cannot get my computer to recognize the router.  Furthermore, I cannot get Windows to recognize the router in my network settings.
If anyone can walk me through this process to set this up, I will be forever grateful.
    Many thanks,
    David

  • Finding and using an "installed" printer driver

Hi all.....I apologize in advance for the long post.....been a PC user since DOS days and recently picked up a refurbed Mac Mini. Already upgraded it to Leopard (10.5.1) upped the RAM to 2G and replaced the HD with a 7200 RPM Hitachi.
Now I'm trying to get the Mini to access a Canon i470D printer attached to a Linksys PSUS4 USB print server/switch. The switch is configured (using my PC) and the i470D will print fine through the PSUS4 using my PC.
I did some Googling on how to use a Mac with the PSUS4 and it was pretty straightforward, so now I have the Mini seeing the printserver and printer, but when I try to actually install the printer (through system prefs/print and fax) and give it the correct drivers I'm running into problems.
I went to the Canon web site and pulled down their 4.8.3 driver package and it supposedly installed correctly (after a required restart). When I try to add the printer, the print and fax advanced settings initially chooses "generic postscript printer" which doesn't work at all, so I pull down the selection box and if I go to "select a driver" there's a list of Canon printers there but they're all Gutenprint drivers...the closest to my printer is the i560...I tried that driver and it's ok for printing out simple one page text docs - all I tested so far - but when I tried a test page from the "print queue" window, it hangs the printer up about 1/8 of the way through the page, so obviously that's not the right driver....but it tells me the Mini is connected and communicating to the printer.
The last choice in the driver pulldown is "Other", so I chose that and navigated to the library/printers/canon/bjprinters/resources/databases where I can see an i470D.db file. But if I select "open", nothing happens....so I assume that's not the right file to select???
I had the same problem trying to load drivers for a Samsung ML-2010 laser printer connected through my PC...I downloaded the OSX drivers from Samsung and installed them, but could never get the system to point to the right 2010 file...so I resorted to using the "included with Leopard" ML5310 file, which seems to be fine so far (although I would like to use the propoer file).
So, is this a Leopard thing? Me being a Mac newb missing the obvious thing? neither? both?....any help on finding where the actual driver file is (and getting it to be used) would be greatly appreciated.

The state of affairs in Mac print drivers is a little screwy.
(drivers on OS X aren't like on Windows, where a driver is a driver...)
There are 2 driver APIs (methods/ways to program) -- one that uses Carbon, so it is actually a legacy of OS 9; the other is CUPS, the modern OS X way. All manufacturers (of non-postscript printers) except Brother have elected to stay with Carbon drivers. I'm quite certain this is because with Carbon drivers, they get to choose which comm protocol gets included in the driver -- and that limits the driver.
So, short answer - your Canon (and Samsung) driver was written to use USB only. You need a CUPS driver to use the CUPS networking protocols (like IP printing) available in OS X.
    Search for CUPS drivers here:
    http://www.linux-foundation.org/en/OpenPrinting/macosx
    and here:
    http://www.printfab.net
(note that the Gutenprint open source drivers included in OS X are CUPS drivers)

    Jon,
After you install Windows XP/Vista using Boot Camp, you need to remove the Windows CD after the Mac boots into Windows. Then you must insert the Mac OS X Leopard DVD that shipped with your Mac. It should autorun the Boot Camp Installation program. This will load all the Apple/Windows drivers for graphics, sound, network, wireless, etc. There is a direct download of drivers. Go to Apple Support, then Dowloads and search for Boot Camp 2.1 and download the program for your version of Windows installed. This will install all the latest drivers. Once that is done, you should have wireless networking.

  • T61p Feedback + A few Questions

I just bought a T61p. It is the best laptop i have ever had, very very nice construction. The screen is a little flickery (drivers?) and has bad light leakage at the bottom, the 1680x1050 resolution makes it look very nice though. The clasps where a bit squeeky and didn't work too well. I took it apart and applied a thin film of lithium grease where the plastic clasp rubs on the magnesium. It works BEUTIFUL now. I have to say it was a drastic improvement. I would really suggest lenovo do this at the factory.
I heard about a recall due to overheating of the GPU. My laptop has only crashed twice the last 2 weeks of gaming 2 hours a day approximatly. What should i do and how can i tell if my laptop is actualy effected by this defect? Was this a problem with the actual silicon or just removing the heat?
Is there a guide to setup the ThinkVantage recovory button. I am running XP x64.

    Hello Fredrik,
many questions. There are some best practices in setting up the modeling structure for the Oracle BPA Suite.
First you should separate the static from the dynamic content. See threat
Re: Reuse of control flow objects
    for details.
After that you should decide about the granularity required in both content dimensions. This means for the dynamic content:
    - find out how many levels you really need to fulfill your modeling goals. I recommend to start with Value Chain Diagrams on the upper levels and use EPC for business details and BPMN for IT related content.
for more details see post: Re: EPC or BPMN
Regarding the static content (e.g. Organizational content) use Organizational Units only for the high level description (down to department level). When it comes to more detailed descriptions use "Positions" for the business related content and "Person Types" for the IT related content. But you will only need this detail of modeling if it is reflected on the dynamic side as well. Keep an ey on the right balance between both content dimensions.
Regarding modeling of data (business objects) the behavior is the same.
    Greetings
    Dirk
