Z1 battery seems to be dead

About 2 days ago i had my Z1 in the shower and it slipped out of my hand, the sim flap (wich didnt close comletely since i got it) poped open, underwater. I shut down my device to avoid damage, at that time i wasent sure if water actualy got into the device so i turned it on, and the power and volume down buttons didnt work, everything else was fine, untill the phone shut down. i dryed it since then on my radiator for a day and a half but it wouldent turn on so i charged it, charged perfectaly well, But the phone wont turn on. If its charging i can turn it off and on only to be greeted with the charging screen again, i charged it for 4 hours so i was sure it was at 100% battery life. As soon as i unplug it , it acts as if it died, no response, nothing. I tryed the red resed button, the power and vol up combination, i even tryed SUS but nothing works. It just acts asif the wire is powering it and not the battery. Also would my insurance accapt my phone back?

Try this:after you charge it for 1 hour, force turn off(power button+vol up until the phone vibrates 3 times). After that, try to connect with SUS to repair.

I refurbished my macbook air 7 months ago because there was a problem with the steady state drive. Now my battery seems to be dead again. How long does the warranty last? Do I need to pay for a new battery?

As I wrote Apple will diagnose an Apple product even if it is out of warranty for free. That should be your first step to find out if the problem is the battery or something else.
Once you have Apple telling you a 7 month old battery is defective (if that turns out to be the case)  then it becomes a game of horse trading. You'll need to speak to the tech and when he tells you there is nothing he can do you will need to speak to the tech manager and when she says most likely there is nothing they can do you go to the store manager, etc.  It is unlikely (though possible) that they will give in easily you need to be firm, polite and let on that you're willing to accept a partial reimbursement.
So again the first step is to find out what is wrong.
    good luck

Yes.  The battery appears to be shot and in need of a replacement.  This can either be done by Apple or a third party repair company.

You can Google "iPod battery replacement" for third party service centers.

Assuming you are disconnecting from line power, when you say switched on, do you mean it was shutdown or in sleep mode?  If sleep mode the battery will still drain because sleep still keeps some things active and the battery does drain a little.  However, to go from 100% to 79% charge overnight is a bit excessive in sleep mode.  Unless you have some processes set to activate over night by the cron file and do things like backup the system.

  • Download link for Android version of Firefox Mobile Beta seems to be dead

Didn't know where else to to write this: The download link on http://firefox.com/m/beta seems to be dead. I have tried both the /da and the /en-US version.
I'm on Android 2.1-update1 on a Sony Ericsson X10 Mini Pro . All other downloads and apps work fine, so I think this might be a simple 404 (Btw.: I tried a couple of days ago as well with the same result).)
Let me know if I can help troubleshoot it further.

Sorry, Firefox is not available for the Xperia X10 Mini Pro. For more information, see:

  • Macbook says "service battery" but battery seems fine.

I've had my macbook pro for 5 years .For the last 2 years it says "service battery," but the battery seems fine to me. With the screen dimmed, airport turned off, and using only MS word, it goes for about 100 minutes. Is there any risk involved with not getting the battery replaced? Also, Will the battery begin to decline exponentially?
    Thanks!

Do you have wifi syncing turned on? Is your itunes always open?
There is a glitch with the iPad where, as long and anytime iTunes is open, it'll sync...like once an hour or some such rate.
Originally the wifi syncing was only supposed to take place if the device is plugged into power, but that's not the case. If I have my iTunes open my iPad will try to sync almost continuously.
So check your wifi sync and iTunes settings (my iTunes used to be set to open automatically when the device is connected, I had to change it to only open when I do it manually because in the course of an evening's surfing my iPad opened my iTunes and started to sync three different times until I turned it off)
If you have iCloud syncing enabled that may also be contributing to your battery issues. I don't sync over iCloud, I tried it but after it ate all my contacts, I stopped using it. However, if the same glitch is present, the device trying to continually sync even when not plugged into power, that could also be part of your drain.

  • Firewire ports on Cube seem to be dead

The firewire ports on my Cube seem to be dead, in that the Cube is not able to see an external drive connected to either of the ports (and the external drive can be seen when connected to another computer). Is that sufficient evidence to conclude that my firewire ports are dead? Is there any software test I could perform? Is it possible to repair the firewire ports?
I'm afraid it's about time to retire the Cube.

I see a PDF on the top of this search page. And a little lower down is link to a video on removing the board.

  • I just bought an iPhone 4S 3 days ago, but its battery seems to lose 1% every 3-4 minutes. I tuned off some location services, bluetooth, and even siri,  and made its settings similar to my two-year old iPhone 4.  The 4S can last much shorter.

I am having the exact same problem with my iphone 5.
I took it back to the Apple store 2 days ago and they gave me a new one, but they told me not to restore it from backup cos if something (an app) is corrupted it will happen again. The only thing they could keep was my contacts cos they did something there that allowed them to transfer them to the new phone. I went home, and downloaded only ONE app (facebook), and guess what - THE PROBLEM IS STILL OCCURING ON THE BRAND NEW PHONE! It is driving me insane as I cant get through the day without my phone.
Really hoping someone has a fix that will work

    Hi all,
I tried a different charger myself (the power source is reliable). But it does not work too. I think I need to bring it down to apple shop.
But is quite disappointing with the new apple product I have. Cos not only my battery is not charging, my built in speaker, the sound is like broken too. So I can hear some noisy sound when I play music.
I have a power book G4, and the power book, everything is still in good condition. Imagine how many yrs I have with the power book G4. This power book I never bring to do any services before. I sometimes really suspect is it Apple drop quality
(cos the office new bought mac from my boss, the USB port is not working too..)
But thanks all for the reply I think I need to bring it down to apple shop. Thanks!

  • Hello, today my battery seemingly died... Help?

hello, today my battery seemingly died and the macbook would not work unless it was connected to my adapter. I did some reading and decided to buy a replacement. However, when I got home later to buy a new battery, my mac would not turn on. Then later on, I decided to check on my mac and sure enough, it miraculously turned on. Now it says that the battery is fine and I can disconnect it and use it like I used to. Should I still buy a new battery, or was it just messing with me?

  • MacBook Battery seems dead

Got an Intel based MacBook (black) on 11/2006. Always worked very fine, no problem.
10 days ago, while working on the Windows XP side through BootCamp, the battery came to a sudden end. I shut down the computer and forgot about it since I've been traveling ever since.
2 days ago I got the magsafe charger connected, but the light would stick to green and no battery charge whatsoever happened. The Macbook works only when connected to the power source through the magsafe.
I tried all suggestions I could find on the Apple support blog. No success. I believe the battery is dead.
Still it looks quite strange: no warning came before the battery died. The Mac just suddenly quit working, after which I just closed the lid and left it alone for more than a week.
Any idea anybody? I'm convinced I gotta get a new battery. I have no Apple Care service, so think I'll have to buy one myself.
    Thanks for any suggestions.

Just started having this problem with my girlfriends 1.5 yr old MacBook (purchased Jan 07). X in the menu, battery not recognized. Must be a dead battery because it works when I use the battery from my Macbook. Don't believe it when people tell you that apple will replace your battery for free. She was on the phone for about 1.5 hrs getting double talk from apple. Apple will not replace the battery for free but they will sell her one. Looks like they cost $129 from apple. Found a better deal for $89 at http://www.brilliantstore.com/applelaptop_batteries_dekcell_bl_5870_whitereplacement.html
Needless to say she is upset with apple and talking about going back to using a PC. Her 5 yr old Toshiba laptop still has a working battery. So much for apple products being superior.

  • Powerbook Operates Only When Plugged In?  Battery Seems Dead?   READ THIS

I posted this several days ago for Powebook G4 17'. I thought this could help others...
I just saved several hundred $$$$, thanks to another Apple customer who had posted this tip somewhere in Discussions.
My Powerbook suddenly crashed a couple of days ago, due do a faulty Apple Firewire cable. It would not immediately start, and my first thought was that the logic board was fried. Remembering that I should try to set the PRAM and then possibly the PMU, but forgetting what keys to press, I frantically searched for my users manual. 15 minutes later, I found it, I followed the instructions, and my PB successfully booted. My troubles were far from over. I soon realized that the battery now appeared to be completely drained. The PB would only work with the power cable plugged in, despite the battery showing 98% charged. When the cable was removed or wiggled, the computer would promptly shut down. I reset the PRAM and PMU several times, reset permissions, cleaned caches, checked preference files and other regular maintenance procedures.... No improvement. I then ran the hardware test that's on my original PB software disk. Everything, including the logic board, tested fine. I then used TechTool Deluxe, and everything tested OK as well. I reset the PRAM, PMU again, but the Powerbook still would not operate on battery power only.
Yesterday, somewhere on this discussion board, I read this tip:
With the battery still in, start up the computer, log in if necessary, and get to your desktop. Close the lid so the PB goes to sleep and walk away. Don't touch it for at least 3 hours. Open the lid so it wakes from sleep, then unplug the power cord.
IT WORKED! I was completely shocked.
I've been using my Powerbook on battery power for more than an hour. The menu bar shows the current battery charge as 40%. I thought it may be a good idea to recalibrate the battery, so I'm letting the battery drain completely.
I'd like to thank the kind person who posted this suggestion. You saved me a few hundred bucks, and I appreciate it.
    PowerBook G4 17   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Power Issues Galore!! I purchased (against my better judgement) an overpriced Powerbook G4 in March 2005 (when Apple claimed that the G4 processor was "faster than Intel", which is the exactly the opposite of what they claim now that they use Intel) and alas, recently purchased an iMac for same college student who is quite the Apple fan, and basically required to have Apple products due to college policies and curriculum. The Powerbook power supply has been a constant problem, which we temporarily resolved by purchasing 3rd party products. Now the plug on the unit itself is loose! Could have bought 4 PC laptops for purchase price of the Powerbook! Time will tell about the iMac.
My opinion, based on personal experiences, is that Apple fans are delusional about the quality of Apple products. Given this, since I have spent a lot of money purchasing Apples, I guess I am a little confused myself!!
