Z1 White Balance Displa Setting

May I ask how to see the white balance setting into the display setting for Xperia Z1? Bec. I have Xperia Z also and the white balance setting is already seen but into my Z1 I can't see the white balance setting to adjust the screen display hope to answer back in able to fix my Xperia Z1 yellow hue tint problem using the "White Balance" in display setting. Thank you

No White Balance option in Z1. Can;t say what made them remove this.
Sony just removed the "optimized backlight option" from this new 14.1.G.2.257 firmware.
YELLOW HUE tint is still there. Display is even more DIM in this new update.
In Short Another update full of bugs have been rolled by Sony.
NFC icon doesn't appear after activating it.
Automatic switch off issue still there.
P.S. Don't ask to update our Z1 again by SUS or PCC, whenever use reports we get only this answer. Why don't Sony make a stable firmware. It has been more then a month and still Z1 has not got a stabel firmware.

White Balance forgets setting

Hi,
I have this wacky issue where I'll edit the white balance in a photo and the preview will update like it should. Then sometimes I come back to the photo, and I can see in the thumbnail preview thing that it's the way I remember doing it, and then when I go to full screen, the photo has the right adjustments while the "LOADING" banner is still up but then when it's loaded it's just a completely different color. I have to re-white balance the photo.
Anyone else have this problem?

Any ideas? It's driving me nuts.

White balance setting not importing from Canon 5D

I shoot in RAW with 2 Canon 5Ds. On both bodies, the white balance is set to K (Kelvin temp) and is dialed to 5500. But when I import into Aperture, the white balance on the files is not at 5500 for either camera. One camera's files display a whte balance of 5102 with a tint of -16. The other, 5428 and -9. Sure, I know how to batch correct this manually after import, but is there a way I can get it right in the first place?

That's normal. If you shoot RAW, Aperture will not care what white balance you set on the camera. Once it's imported, then Aperture will try to get the best WB (not sure the logarithm). If you want all your pictures to be 5500K, set one to be 5500K and then lift and stamp the rest.

Canon 5D MK II white balance set as K does not import correctly

With a 5D II and the Kelvin white balance set in the camera the WB does not import correctly for RAW files and LR 2.4. For example when set to a specified white balance as a Kelvin setting, for example 5200, and then import the raw files with "As Shot" specified or subsequently WB to "As Shot" in Develop module the white balance is set to 4850 +1 (in the example of 5200). The pre set WB options provided inthe camera do work correctly.
Does anyone know if there is a way to set this up to work correctly? Has anyone else experienced this issue?

Lightroom does work correctly. The numbers are different, but the appearance ot the colour temperature matches. The way I understand it, cameras don't actually store Kelvin numbers, but store colour space co-ordinates instead. LR and your Canon are interpreting the RAW values into different colour spaces, so the kelvin values and tint numbers will differ.

Wrong white balance in Bridge

Since I reinstalled my computer I have a problem with displaying Canon CR2 files in Bridge - white balance in just incorrect. When I open it in Camera RAW, for about 1 second it displays still incorrectly, but then colours of the picture change and white balance is correct - I can even see that histogram changes slightly at the same moment. Than it opens in Photoshop correctly too. White balance is set to "as shot". I have PS CS6 and ACR 8.1 as part of Creative Suite 6 Design & Web Premium (all updates are installed). Anyone can solve the problem? I can say that I tried to install Creative Suite on 2 different computers and the problem is in both cases.

But when I open fool preview in Bridge (space, then left mouse click), after a short time when preview renders, the picture becomes fine. So I wonder what picture is displayed in Bridge non-full-screen preview?
Let's first focus on your preference settings. Try these settings:
In Bridge under Adobe Bridge CC open the Camera Raw preferences.
In the section 'Default Image Settings' make sure the the above 2 are NOT checked (Auto tone and auto grayscale)
It is useful to have checked defaults to specific serial number when you did generate a custom default in ACR and iso specific is only useful if you have saved all different iso settings as different ACR defaults.
Then go to same menu and open Bridge Preferences.
In the section Cache under options have only a checkmark in front of 'Keep 100% previews in Cache', don't use the option to export cache to folder.
Also increase the slider for cache size a bit, somewhere half way or left to halfway should be good enough.
Under Advanced / miscellaneous only have a check mark in front of generate monitor sized previews, leave the other 2 blank.
Then in the content window with the problem files be sure to have no hidden cache folders. Use menu view / show hidden files and search for document icons with BridgeCache and BridgeCacheT. If they are here delete both to the trash.
Then restart Bridge and try again
Also might be related to not having synced the color settings in Bridge when having more Suite apps installed from CC.
Any advice how can I check it?
When you have only PS installed Bridge uses the color settings you have saved in there, otherwise you should sync the Bridge color settings for correct colormanagement.
In PS go to the menu edit / Color settings
Check if your settings are what you want and either read the name already given or save these settings under a proper name.
Then in Bridge use the same route (edit/Color Settings and check if the saved settings file is active in the list (Bridge tells you in this menu if the settings are synced or not so that should be easy to check.

Can Bridge report in-camera settings for White Balance?

No matter what settings I choose in Bridge Preferences, I cannot get it to tell me what was the White Balance (WB) setting of the camera when raw images were shot.
This seems an odd omission because Camera Raw is passed this information and displays images correctly, although it doesn't report what WB value it was given, only that what you are viewing, prior to any editing, is the default "As Shot".
I'm referring to raw files shot on my Canon 300D, Nikon D700 and Canon 5D Mark II.
Currently I'm using PsCS6 (13.0.1.2 x64), Bridge CS6 (5.0.2.4 x64) and ACR 8.1 on a Windows 7 x64 8GB system, but the same omission existed on the same Windows system with ACR 7.x in CS6 and all releases of PsCS5, Bridge CS5 and ACR 6.6 and 6.7.
On the opening dialog of Bridge Preferences, at the bottom you can choose whether or not you wish to 'Hide Empty Fields'. Selecting or unselecting this option does not have any effect upon Bridge's inability to report WB when, from within Bridge, you select File Info from the File menu or by hitting Ctrl + I.
The only locations in Bridge Preferences I can find that need selection (and which I have selected) for Bridge to supply WB information upon invoking File Info are here:
Preferences\Metadata\Camera Data (Exif)\White Balance; and
Preferences\Metadata\Camera Raw\White Balance
I have also selected Preferences\Metadata\File Properties\Supports XMP, and yet Bridge fails to give the in-camera WB in the Camera Data tab of File Info.
I have been able to locate references to WB in the following tabs of File Info:
File Info\Advanced, where there appears, under the sub-tab 'Exif Properties (http://ns.adobe.com/exif/1.0)', an entry such as 'exif:White Balance:1'; and
File Info\Raw Data an entry such as '<exif:White Balance >1< /exif:White Balance>'.
However, these are just code numbers, not names like 'Cloudy' or 'Shade', and they are not only inconsistent (both showing the code 1 for an unedited image I know was shot with Auto WB and another unedited image I know was shot with Flash WB) but also it would appear that the codes may refer to the WB as modified by ACR - because an image I know had its in-camera WB of Auto altered in ACR shows a code of 'Custom' rather than 0, 1 or some other number.
So what am I missing? Does anyone know how to make Bridge Preferences display the in-camera setting for WB, and if so, under which tab of File Info do you look for the answer once you have set up Preferences properly?

I'm afraid that you just haven't addressed the question that I asked in my original post.
I still like to think I have but if you for whatever reason need this info showing in the metadata you probably be better of trying to alter it your self or find a way to address Paul personally (maybe via a private message).
I have not heard from him for a long time and a small google search provided me with this forum post, hope it helps you, maybe you can also persuaded Paul to come back, he is very missed!

Does Aperture always apply white balance to RAW files?

Hi Aperture users,
I have been an Aperture user for many years. Aperture handles the white balance of my Canon XTi RAW files just as I want it to: it interprets the RAW data by applying the white balance selected at the time of the photo. I.e., when Aperture decodes the RAW file, it makes it look more-or-less like the in-camera JPG with respect to the white balance.
However, in the past several months, many well-known contributors of this forum have stated "RAW is RAW -- Aperture will not apply any camera settings." This statement was made in response to many "novice" questions about why a RAW photo in Aperture did not look anything like the JPG from the camera.
So, my questions:
Does anyone have a camera to whose RAW files Aperture does not apply in-camera white balance settings?
Does everyone else agree that this exception to "RAW is RAW" is acceptable?

1. I don't. RAW is sensor data. Most cameras record the White Balance camera setting as a metadata tag attached to the RAW data (The WB has no effect at all on the captured data.) Most RAW converters use this setting as the default WB. Some RAW converters perform "colorimetric interpretation" -- they basically compare the data captured to a generic color space and assign a WB. (This is, I assume, the same thing a camera set to "Auto WB" does. My camera is superb at assigning a WB for any mixed scene; it's repeatably bad, though, whenever the actual scene is truly colored (meaning "away from average").) In both cases -- 1. using the attached-to-the-RAW-data WB, and 2. analyzing the captured data to intelligently predict the WB -- a WB is applied to the RAW data. It has to be, in order to produce an image from the data.
2. The problem here isn't that this is an exception -- it's that different people mean different things when they say "RAW". The RAW data is RAW data. As above, the WB setting has no effect on it. But the image derived from the data -- any image produced from the data -- much have a WB set (and, for human use, a tone-curve applied). Some people mistaken think that RAW is an image format, or that the image produced by the RAW converter is a "RAW" image. It is not. RAW data must be converted to an image format in order to be displayed as an image. The conversion must apply a WB.
I have found it useful (though perhaps mistaken) to conceive of my data-gathering to picture-making as following these steps:
. Capture a pattern of light. This is just data.
. Convert the data to an image. RAW conversion done by Aperture. (NB: the settings for this can be changed.)
. Adjust the image to my artistic satisfaction
. Convert the adjusted image to an image format file
. Publish the image-format file in one or two now standard forms: to be viewed on a computer monitor, or as a print.
I mention only because at some point I consciously added the "Convert data to image" step in order to better grasp the process. RAW data is RAW data -- but that step identifies an intermediate that many overlook. At that step the information recorded along with the RAW data and stored in the RAW file is applied to the RAW data.
To me, "RAW is RAW" is correct. "Aperture will not apply any camera settings," is wrong.
I am happy for any clarifications or corrections.

White balance in z10 stl100-1?

I have a z10 stl100-1 and already update to os 10.2.1.2141. My friend's z10 stl100-2, which update the same os 10.2.1.2141 have white balance in setting, but not in my own. Why don't z10 stl100-1 have white balance? I really hate my z10 sreen, it always look like yellow, althought i change the sreen brightness to max. Can you fix this problem on next update? Thank!

White Balance Tint Limit When Processing Raw Files

Hi guys, following some recent suggestions I've got hold of some Welding glass to use as an ND filter on my Fuji HS20. It arrived today and works a treat.
I do however now have a new issue that this has caused. I've set a custom white balance on the camera to counter act the tint from the glass. This now produces the correct colour on my jpg photo's however the RAW files have the wrong colour tint.
When I open them in photoshop elements 11 I get the CAMERA RAW application. The white balance is set to 'AS SHOT' however the Tint is at +150. I'm guessing my problem is that the tint needs to be more than +150 and CAMERA RAW is limiting it.
Does this mean I am now limited to using JPG's when I use this glass as an ND filter, or is there a way I can get rid of this limit to the tint on the white balance

The point is that we CAN NOT adjust the white balance as suggested, because the sliders are already at their maximum value when we open the photo in camera raw. We'd need to further increase the tint value (as the photo looks green) but it is by default at 150, so we cannot increase it further.
One way to overcome the limitation of the tint/temp sliders is to save an intermediate tiff or psd file. You can open it in ACR and apply the same maximal slider correction.
For the same purpose, instead of saving an intermediate file, I opened the raw file in the editor. From there, I used the Editinacr script in Elements+ to reopen the layer in ACR (shift f3 and script selection). Same corrections and back as a new layer in the editor. I could repeat the process several times to get a very powerful correction without intermediate files.

White balance shifting when importing raw files

When I import my raw files from my 5D mark 2 my white balance is set to 5200K, when in Lightroom it shifts to 4850K? Any body know why?

If there are no import presets being applied from the import pane, there's one other way this could be happening. If you're taking advantage of the ability to adjust LR's default import presets (NOT the same as what user web-weaver is talking about which is configured through the import panel) and you accidentally captured a setting other than "as shot" while making the changes, then this is likely your culprite.
This feature is fantastic for automatically applying ISO-specific NR to each file on import, but it can also catch other settings you may not have intended while configuring it. Go back to the files you originally used to set the defaults for each individual ISO, reset the WB to "as shot," and set defaults again. The menu option for this only appears in the develop module. Menu: Develop -> Set Default Settings...
You can also choose to wipe out all previously configured defaults by going to your preferences window, then Presets tab. Look for the "Reset all default Develop settings" button.
Hope this helps you or anyone else who comes along.

Losing Custom White Balance

I wasn't sure where to post this, so I'm starting here.
I've been having an issue with RAW (actually Nikon .NEF) files containing custom white balances and software on my Mac. I shoot Infrared images with the white balance set to make the green foliage go white, making the sky go kind of coppery. When I look at the thumbnails of these files in either the Finder, Photoshop (CS2, CS3), iPhoto (07 and 08), Nikon View, or Adobe Lightroom they look correct. As soon as I want to edit them, they lose the white balance I set in favor of looking black and red (what the camera actually "saw") and there's no way I've found to get the custom white balance back.
I tried it on a friend's PC laptop using the free version of Nikon View and it worked like it should. I was able to save the images as TIFFs and open them on my Mac.
Anyone else ever seen this occur or have any suggestions?

What you're seeing in the thumbnails are actually jpeg previews of the files based on what the finder imagines the file ought to look like not the contents of the files themselves.
When you open the file for the first time you see the RAW file without any adjustments. Depending on what software you use the settings may or may not be maintained on subsequent opens.
You need to make your RAW adjustments and then export the file as a TIFF/JPEG or just keep it RAW.

Stopping Customised White Balance defaulting when in RAW format

My preferred medium for photography is underwater, so it is crucial the white balance is set to the area and depth of the shot. When I use Photoshop CS3 to develop the shot in RAW, as soon as I click on to the shot in bridge it instantly reverts back to the default white balance, In UK fresh waters this usually means a strong green cast. Can anyone tell me how to stop this?

Thanks I have now found the ACR within the Camera Calibration TAB, However, there does not seem to be enough adjustment to create the original shot. Also at depth I need to reset the white balance every few meters, so with 20 saved shots I can have say 6 different calibrations so it is pointless generating presets.
I propably should not say this but Capture One 4 recognises the shot the way I took it instantly,which then allows me to edit the original. The frustration is I do prefer Photoshop.

Can camera white balance be adjusted?

A friend of mine has taken some images that look like old images that have weathered/faded over time, but they are brand new! I suggested that it looked like the white balance was set wrong. Is there any way to adjust it (it looked like it was set to florescent lighting)?

The default Camera app does not have an adjustment for white balance. But there are other camera apps in the App Store that have this feature. There are also photo editing apps that allow changes to white balance. The iPhoto app is one of many.

Webcam VF0070..why cant i adjust the "white balance"?

i am running windows XP home edition, with the latest updates.
i am using the webcam model VF0070. under the options for this webcam, i can change virtually every option EXCEPT the white balance? the white balance is set all the way to the LEFT.

Here is a way to obtain a salutary result in a less sophisticated way:
Open picture file
Go to Enhance>adjust lighting>levels
Point to the white eyedropper (see red arrow) and click on a white object

Fixing white balance when it varies during video.

Hi there, I was shooting video for a while and I think the sensor on my Canon 5D Mark II overheated and it turned the white balance from my manual setting to green (gradually). Then it turned back. This happened a few times in the video. Is there a way to correct the overall white balance by setting a degrees kalvin that is followed throughout? Help is much appreciated thanks.

Broken monitor profile, affects only Lr and other color managed applications. Run your calibrator again, or if you don't have a calibrator use sRGB for now.
Go to Control Panel > Color Management > Devices:
EDIT: unless of course you have a preset applied on import.
