Z10 buggy

I am a committed blackberry fan, but the Z10 is really changing that. It just seems like a barely usable smart phone, especially compared to my 9870 where there were so many core functions accomplished with one button push, rather than press power button, swipe up, swipe over, click....
Here's some of the bugs:
3 hour battery life - not good enough guys....
When charging and phone power on, no charging indicator (i.e. my phone is now completely dead after 2 hours "plugged into the charger)
can't text an incoming phone call number from the Hub unless that number is added to the address book
The phone is dog slow: when it reboots, it takes ages to load the Hub, it takes forever to load maps (I was using maps to find an address, my phone crashed, after the lengthy reboot, Maps took 10 minutes to load - it was a black screen until then, and I couldn't tell the difference between maps and the screen being off....
Slow loading between All Calls / Missed Calls
The frequent numbers don't populate fast enough - shows the number instead of the saved name - same for the call list
Not having ' on the main keyboard makes it really hard to type words containing the apostrophe.  That's pretty common to have in a sentence
The voice dictation seems pretty flaky. For me it works maybe 50% of the time, and when it fails, it will fail repeatedly (i.e. I could have typed 8x what I was trying to dictate at the same time)
Can't paste phone number from webpage into phone (i.e. write it on paper and then re-enter)
Remember app is slow.  Slow to load, takes a long time to get from display memo to text entry mode
There's about 20 more, but they're probably know issues, and the queue just needs to get more builds in my phone,....
Honestly, the 9xxx Blackberries were sooo incredibly good except for the browser not working with most websites.  This phone is a major disappointment.  I'm on my second Z10 (the first one had serious issues with Camera not working ever) but I just worry for Blackberry that they can't fix these things fast enough to retain people who used to be their biggest fans.

Less rose-tinted than the comment above, but -
Somehow my pet user's ekeing out a full day on his with ease.  So, surprisingly, battery hasn't been an issue here.  You might want to investigate with a battery monitor app (and/or just try 10.1 already - seems to have done in a few annoyances - poll for it under Software Updates or such in the white-background Settings app and prepare to wait for 300MB to download and unpack plus maybe 15 minutes for it to do some housekeeping for the Hub post-install), as seems like some people are lucky winners of a 'stuck'/'spinning' background process burning battery per reports from others complaining.  [Never investigated since the problem hasn't surfaced here, but Android isn't exactly immune to that either, just slightly more nerd-enabled out of the box to diagnose and manage such.]
re: dropped/non-completing calls, probably want to try 10.1 and then contact T-Mobile if it persists, particularly if it does seem localized to a particular area.  TMo service has been really shockingly good here in Fairfield County, CT (probably more calls are riding AT&T than TMo towers).

  • BlackBerry z10 battery poor performance

Hey i have a question with regards to how am I supposed to improve my battery on the z10. I bought this phone last year at full price from my carrier. Since then the battery performance has been very poor... even after the number of updates and reducing which apps are running, it still won't last more than 5 hours when using the phone. in fact I would say it drains very quickly. I see the % sign on the battery and it moves from 100% to 87% very quickly like within an hour when i am using my phone. I have done a lot of research over the past year and read forums on how to improve it and have had no results. Can anyone provide me any advice? Perhaps someone from blackberry themselves? I am really disappointed because I could have spent that money on a different phone which has a battery that actually lasts the day. Thank you and I will await for some feedback.

Have you checked if there are any specific apps that drain the battery ?
    Settings->App manager-> Device monitor->Battery
That option is only on newer OS versions.
What OS are you on and do you have many email accounts set up that sync contacts, calendar and more?
I had a corrupt contact that would try to sync over and over again.
Start with this if you sync Over The Air with Outlook
In outlook Make a new folder for contacts called backup
move all contacts to the folder and wait for all to be removed from device
then pull battery on device and put back in
After device boots move contacts from backup to the contacts folder and wait for them all to appear
Make a new contact in outlook and see if it gets to the device.
    highlight calendar
    goto file import/export
    choose export to file
    choose Persoanl folder pst, next
make sure calendar is highlighted and choose subfolders if you have them, next
save to desktop with a name you can remember, Finish
    Click ok on screen popup
Go to view, arange by events
    delete all entries.
close outlook and any word files, open outlook back up after 15 seconds.
    Then
    goto file import/export
import from another program or file, next
    choose Persoanl folder pst, next
    find the file and import
    Choose highlight calendar and Finish
Change view back to what you want and try again.

  • Lack of settings in Z10

Anybody else disappointed with the lack of settings on the Z10 vs the Bold?
For instance you can not set the number of vibrates when you have a notification
When you plug in your phone to a charger you can not set it up to go into Bedside Mode
and a few other little things that I really liked about the OS7
unless I'm not doing something right, can someone tell me how?
    Thanks

Old news, there are many posts here about this already.
The Notification granularity from prior BBoSes is not yet available in profiles.... yet.
We are all hoping that these will be added into the OS in newer OS versions.
Bedside mode is enabled by pulling down the "shade" (swipe down from the top) on the lock screen, or by going into the alarm and pulling down the top menu.

  • Bridge buggy opening file in photoshop CS3

I have totally uninstalled (removing every bit!), re-installed, deleted prefs ad nauseum. If I start CS3 from the application icon (yes it is still in the default folder where I installed it *again* yesterday) all is well. If I try to open a photo from Bridge by right clicking I get two choices: open in Photoshop 10.0.1, or open in Photoshop 10.0.1 (default)
Why does the right click on either choice open a buggy problem? First I'm told the application moved (it didn't and deleting the prefs didn't help) then, whether I chose repair or not, it opens but tells me that all my filters didn't load and it lines my menu bar with at least a half dozen "onOne" menus. Then when I close I get the message that it quit unexpectedly.
I just had to go through a long process (thank you Adobe for the knowledge base!) getting my license to work again. Now I find there is some kind of communication problem between Bridge and CS3.
Maybe that's why Adobe stopped supporting older versions. The program has gotten too big and buggy?
If I drag the file from Bridge to the opened Photoshop (from the application folder) it opens perfectly. Since I have a work around, this isn't crucial, but I really wonder if anyone can explain the communication bug? Not much chance I'll spend the money for an upgrade to CS4. Especially since support will stop as soon as CS5 comes out. CS3 is buggy enough for me.

Anne, with all respect, I differ with you. It's easy to blame the user when problems happen. I happen to be paranoid about maintaining my computer and so far, after switching to my Mac, it is mainly Adobe programs that cause problems, no matter how careful I am. Of course I might avoid problems by never installing useful plugins (and sometimes it is the plugin that causes a problem). Possibly my installation of the OnOne plugins (I really love these) caused this problem with Bridge.
Computers are almost essential; for me one main enjoyment in life is working with my photos. I usually can figure out my problems on my own --learned to do that when I was running Windose :-) but in all fairness there are quirks and bugs that are NOT the user's doing. I figure if I'm not having problems it's luck as well as being careful.
Hoping you won't take offense. The few times I have visited the forums you have been kind and helpful.
Ramón, I will be checking out the Bridge forums from now on. This discussion has probably run it's course. Thank you again.

  • Unable to boot Z10, stuck on loading screen at 99% after a few hours.

Hi, I am unable to boot Z10, stuck on loading screen at 99% after a few hours. I did not try to update, nor load any other OS versions.  Running a Bell Canada 10.1.  Tried to pull battery, leave phone boot for 5 hours, still stuck on 99%.  I tried plugging it in BB Link and computer will not recognize it.

  • 2015 / BlackBerry Z10 (STL100-2) stuck at 99% OS 10.3 ...

Hello, Yesterday my device said it had an update (10.3) and it's now stuck on the boot screen (installing updates / starting BlackBerry 10 OS) at 98%, it goes really slow to 98% (12 hours). I've tried to reinstall 3 times now, and it's always the same, takes ages to get to 98% and stays there.  What to do?

PLEASE READ:IF NOT ALREADY CORRUPTED; IT WILL WIPE ALL OF YOUR DATA, ALL OF IT. And before you get to excited, I downloaded the one for 10.3 as well, and guess what, we're stuck at 97% for 5minutes now, I see where this is going--but at least you can download a decent version of 10.2....  Those work fine. Download for STL100-2 if you have a European Z10 like me.

  • I Have No Voice Mail Notifications In Z10 Hub

I have seen issues with Voice Mail Notifications in various threads, but I didn't see one having No Voice Mail Notifications In the Z10 Hub at all. Sorry if I missed a thread that applies.
From what I was told by Blackberry Technical Support, at the bottom of the BB Hub next to "Calls", "Emergency Alerts" and "PIN", should be "Voice Mail" (or something similar). I have none and therefore do not get any notifications when I receive a Voice Message. I thought this was odd, and figured I had some settings incorrect, but that is not the case. It's just not there.
I am in the USA on Verizon's network with the latest updated OS 10.1.0.2039 that they offered on a STL100-4, Z10.
    Anyone else have this issue?

My wife had the same issue on her Z10.
A quick call to customer service at AT&T and they set it up.
Rebooted her phone, and all was well.
I'm sure Verizon customer service can do this for you as well.
    Hope this helps.
    Sincerely -

  • Z10 calendar entries can't be deleted

On getting my Z10 I performed a device swop using Blackberry Link from from Blackberry 9860 running OS 7.1.
It was a virtual failure, only copying a few pieces of data, no contacts at all and only a few calendar entries, which were from 2011. On my Z10 I delete these old entries, some of which are recurring ones, only to find that when I restart my phone they all return. I have tried battery pulls and editing them so they no longer are recurring entries but nothing works. I start the phone in the morning and they all return.
    Can anyone help?

    Hey Joolone,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
    Thanks for the question.
Are these calendar entries synchronized with any email accounts?  Like Gmail, Yahoo or Hotmail?
If they are, I would suggest turning off Wireless synchronization and then remove the calendar entries and test.
Go to Setting>Accounts and delete the calendar account.
I look forward to your reply.
    Cheers.

  • Z10 battery heating up

Every now and then after prolonged usage by battery gets very warm, I am a battery app which also shows battery temperature, it is normally in the 25 degrees celcius but will spike to the high 30s, is this an issue to be concerned with?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I am so angry over this issue. Both my husband and I upgraded to the Z10 at the end of March. He switched to my old BlackBerry Bold 9900 and I am switching to an iPhone very soon when I can muster up the $500+ dollars since I wasted my upgrade on the z10. I have had it and am beyond frustrated with reinstalling the os every 7-10 days. I do this when the battery starts burning up and I am charging it YES sometimes 3 times a day with little to no use. Brutal. Way to many issues with this phone to list. I was a loyal BlackBerry customer that is just now angry.

  • ITunes sync to Z10 = not right working / mixed songs in wrong playlists

    Hi
    iam totally frustrated:
I try several weeks since i have this great device, to sync my itunes music to z10.
But on syncing thru BB Link, my playlists on z10 are totally mixed with the wrong music files.
On itunes = all is fine sorted
Transfered to Z10 = some music is not shown in their playlist or playlists are together in one.
So syncing is not right working. Horrible
    Combination:
    iTunes + Mac
Z10 with 64GB card -> fromatted inside Z10 (several times)
So iam not able to get my music with right playlists to the Z10.
    whats wrong here?
I never experienced with such problems on iPhone or Android based Phones.
    Blackberry! Please fix that!

    Hey uhscale,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
    Thanks for the question.
We are going to need to gather some BlackBerry Link logs to find out why the playlists are mismatching.  Please contact your network service provider and ask to be transferred to BlackBerry so we can investigate these logs.
    Thank you.

  • Problems with AOL IMAP server connection on my BlackBerry Z10 STL100-3, and BB PlayBook 64GB WiFi

Problems with AOL IMAP server connection on my BlackBerry Z10 STL100-3, and BB PlayBook 64GB WiFi

  • Please help me fall in love with my Z10 !

Hi all - until recently I have been a committed Blackberry user. I upgraded to my new Z10 handset about eight weeks ago - and as the days pass I hate it more and more.
The basic functionality of the thing I like - I like to swipe, I like the keyboard etc. I use my Blackberry for work - phone & contacts, email (and the browser generally) and calendar are absolutely critical to me. It is also important that the handset power last for the full business day so I don't have to stop and charge it all the time.
What is driving me to the point of flushing the handset down the toilet is two main things.
    (1) Battery life - although this handset is new (about 6 weeks) the battery does not last longer than about 8 hours (my working day including commute is roughly 10 - 11 hours). I would expect that a new handset batter would last in excess of 24 hours they way I use it (which is minimal - I'm not glued to my phone 24-7). I have wifi turned off - when wifi was on the battery did not last longer than about 3 hours even if I didn't make a call !
Is this normal based on everyone's experience with the Z10 ? It's just not meeting my basic needs. I only moved off my older Blackberry handset (Curve) because the battery life had degraded - and I'm at the point I might move back to it.
    (2) This is the big one - the calendar. Or lack thereof. I just can't see the entries I know are there. If I search for an appointment I can find it and see the detail, but my days look empty when they are not. It's fine when there's not much going on or I can remember who I'm supposed to be seeing - but I am at risk of missing things.
Until today I had only the local calendar set up in an attempt to keep it all simple, but this doesn't work. This morning I added my gmail calendar - no improvement. Currently I have set all appointments up with a one day reminder against them so I can make a paper calendar ! Not so efficient ....
Googling around the various forums & support blogs it seems that this is a known problem with no known resolution time. I find this hard to believe ! It's the **bleep** calendar ! VITAL for business I would expect - no ?
Any ideas ? I'm desperate - I've just started job hunting and I simply can't risk missing an interview or double-booking.
Any help would be greatly appreciated ! The local sellers (I live in Sydney) are too inexperienced to be of much help and I'm almost at the end of my tether.
The fate of my Z10 handset is in your hands ...
    Thanks in advance. Kristie

I realise I'm kind of replying to my own post ! However, I've kept googling around the posts in this forum and thought I should add that I close out Twitter, LinkedIn etc when not actively using them. I don't sit in any application (knowingly) except if that particular app is in use.
The only apps I use are :
mail (gmail, yahoo) and mainly for incoming, occasionally link through to check out a link and I also include images in the download
calendar - unsuccessfully as noted above
LinkedIn - briefly and only once or twice a day (say five minutes use total)
Twitter - briefly and only once or twice a day (say ten minutes use total)
Facebook - least of all, maybe once a day (maximum five minutes use total every day or so)
I am really not a high user of this phone.

  • My opinion of the Z10

It's just another Blackberry as far as I'm concerned. Nothing much has changed since 1999 when BB first came onto the market. Here's why I feel that way. I would have thought that throughout the development of the 10 platform BB would have gone out of its way to get companies on board BEFORE it hit the streets. Instead we're missing the simple things iPhone and android had years ago. The first is Skype. It should have been part of the package right out of the box. iPhone has Facetime, BB has nothing. Skype would have been the next best thing. Battery life is horrible for a 2013 device. I get roughly 5 hours out of my Z10 and that's just talking and emails. I really don't use apps much. But speaking of apps. As a real estate professional there are industry apps which are readily available on older BBs and of course every iPhone and android device. Not on the 10 platform. We'll probably never see the Ekey on the 10 because, as the Ekey people said, there's not enough demand. Real estate agents have abandoned BB in favor of iPhones and android devices. The zoom function SUCKS. Regardless of how I try it does nothing. If I pinch the screen the entire screen pulls in and then pops back doing nothing. I get email like from Banana Republic, that has pictures etc but they show up as ? Marks. I have to wait until I'm back on my notebook or iPad to see what the email contains. Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. I don't care if they're there or not but to have them on my home screen AND the HUB is just stupid. Are these considered that important to have them twice? I can see the message on the app then go to the HUB to mark the message as read. Email. On my old Torch I would read an email on my device and the email would be marked read everywhere else. And visa versa. Not on the Z10. I can read a gmail or yahoo email in the actual email on my notebook and on my Z10 they're still unread. And why not have an email icon next to the text or BBM icons? Seriously, why go back and forth to the HUB? No select, cut and paste of email addresses. I mean, go into an existing email and try copying the senders email address. You can't. You can only save into your contacts. Then open a new email and select the contact. You can copy and paste text but not email address within an email header. Someone said it might get corrected with an update but so far, nothing. Forwarding an email does not include the email header either. I forwarded an email to a coworker and asked him to please write back to the lady. He called to tell me the email forwarded but the header with the senders email was not included. It only showed the senders name. Maps suck. I can't get the BB maps to work. I downloaded Google maps and though they look fine I can't zoom or drag my finger across the map to move it. Same problem with the BB maps. No QR reader. No password keeper. I had to download both and figure out how to get my passwords to move o the new "safe". Amazing how Facebook and Twitter were there but password keeper was left out. All in all the best part of this device is the keyboard. That's one thing that BB hit out of the park. But the glass surface is not the same quality as the iPhone surface. You have to be extra careful with it. Alarm. Why doesn't it work when the device is off? Seriously!! I have to reset the sounds to silent then put it in bedside if I need the alarm the next morning. Otherwise, the alarm goes off only when you turn the phone on in the morning. Otherwise, I go back to my original comment. Same ole, same ole. Nothing super exciting or innovating IMHO. I'm seriously thinking of going back and trading it for a Bold. I could care less about Facebook and Twitter. I need a solid phone with good email functions and maps and the Ekey for my work. I forgot to mention that the Z10 doesn't connect to my cars audio system. My Torch did perfectly so I could play my music through the auxiliary input while traveling. My old iPod does it too. But not the Z10.

    Hello,
It seems that many of your questions are "why" questions. Please do understand that this is a user-to-user community. Unless the answer comes from a clearly identified BB employee (who sometimes comment here), any answers you receive here will be non-authoritative, theoretical and supposition only (though they will normally be an honest attempt to help you out as best they can).
To truly answer such a "why" question requires access to insider information, which is specifically prohibited (in the Ts and Cs) from revelation on this site, and consequently answers about that are limited to the formal and official answers that BlackBerry provides publicly.
