hi,
i am having troubles with my camera, it says "camera can't be started" when i click on the camera icon. i have tried all other solutions but it did not come through.my current software update is 10.3.1.1565. model STL100-1

Ira is right, you should tell us the troubleshooting you already did, so we can suggest alternative workarounds.
We don't know what you did and did not do. It's gonna save us all time and effort.

    You could have restored the problem.

  • Blackberry z10 the camera can't be started

    Hi!
    In my new smartphone Z10 after upgrade software to version 10.2.0.424 and try start run camera I got only message: "the camera can't be started"
    Camera does not work!
    Also I can not see videos from i.e. Youtube application

    Here is a KB that discusses that error:
    KB35371 After updating the device software from version 10.1 to version 10.2.0 on the BlackBerry Z10 smartphone, "Camera cannot be initiated" error message is displayed when opening the Camera app
    Hopefully it contains something useful! There also are multiple existing threads on this site that discuss that exact error...your review of those might prove useful, and a search of this site, using the error message, error code, or symptom, should reveal all applicable existing threads to you.

  • Error "camera can't be started'

    i just got my z10 mobile with os 10.2.2944. while opening camera app it returns msg "camera can't be started"
    i tried to reboot first time opening camera it show as camera is started but with black image (no camera image).
    after that it shows sames error msg "camera can't be started". i hav upgrde it too but all in vain. as this problem is from starting as i opened packing. plz help me is there hardware problem or software problem. i hav got totally upset after that
    so help plzzzz.can it be replaced as i dont hav bill as my uncle gifted me.

    To attempt to narrow down if it's software or hardware, a clean reload might be needed. Start first with a complete backup via LINK as well as full manual documentation of your desired settings, accounts, configurations, add-on apps, etc.
    First, start with trying a reload via LINK:

    If that fails, then try a reload via AutoLoader and this process:
    On device WIPE
    AutoLoader

    On device WIPE
    Restore from backup
    If that still fails, then re-do it, but in step 4 restore settings only. If it still fails, then do it yet again, but this time do not restore anything -- instead, use your documentation (created earlier) to manually reconfigure everything.
    Please be sure you are using the most recent version of the BB10 OS - 10.2.1.3253. Also note that if all fails, then you may well indeed have a hardware issue, for which no amount of OS or software can be of use. Rather, you need formal support. For warranty, you seek that from the original place of purchase,  where your Uncle bought it...as the original purchaser, he may well have to do that. If you have no warranty, then seek a local (to you) shop with a BB technician and have them provide you a proper evaluation and estimate.

    Hi There,

  • The camera can"t be started.

    I unfortunatly bougth Blackberry Q5 last day, and just after buying it the power switch/buttom isnt working. Till now i wasn"t able too restart the device.
    And just now with in 18 hours i got new error the camera can't be started.
    Is this poor quality and OS being made by the Blackberry which doesnt satisfy the customer for the single day, and i just read one post under which a person having the same camera trouble and reply given to him was to re-install the complete OS WTF, we are here to buy the new smart phone or to keep its software updating due to your poor services and OS / hardware.
    Totaly dis-satisfied isn't going to recomend phone to anyone.
    I have done the fullish thing to buy Q5 instead of purchasing Android or I-phone available in the market.

    Can you not take it back to your seller and get a replacement or switch?

  • BB Classic, camera can't be started

    Hi Guys,
    Before I send my classic RMA a quick check;
    I've been using the classic for two monhts now and took may pictures already, but suddenly the camera app starts with error: The camera can't be started.
    I've rebooted the device, performed a secureity wipe and recoverd the software via BB Link.
    Has anyone experienced the same issue, or a suggestion I could try before sending the device RMA?

  • Camera Can't be started on Q10

    Good day, I bought a Q10 from a friend, this can not go with the part around. Now I have seen the device. It's all wonderful just the back camera. After countless Restart's (battery out and in / hard reset), software updates (with Autoloader) and even with a replacement of the camera I've been busy and replaced me. There always comes the same message (Camera Can not Be Started.). Can someone help me and has a 2nd level Tip?

    did you perform a security wipe when you got this device?Is Parental Controls on? to check go to Settings> Security and Privacy> Parental Controls.

  • Q5 10.2.0.429 camera can't be started message

    I just have my Q5 for 3 weeks now.
    Camera worked at first, since about 1,5 week a pop-up on the Q5 showed there was a software update which I installed: 10.2.0.429
    It seems like after that update the camera stopped working: "camera cannot start" message
    I did a backup and factory reset, but no result; same issue.
    Any help is appreciated.

    My first phone was defective and I did not hesitate to return it for a replacement 5 days later. The replacement  has been issue free for 7 months. Yes love the interface but not the problem phone, it is only material. I do not know about where you live but where I live we have 30 days to return the phone for replacement or full refund. After that the next 11 months falls under the repair part of the warranty.

    Since your phone has problems you might not be able to connect to Link, so since your  phone is new and you might not have a lot of data installed you can Reset to Factory Settings this way.
    To restore your phone: tap the Settings App, scroll down and tap Security and Privacy, tap Security Wipe, tap the blank box and enter blackberry.

    I bought my Q5 from lulu hypermarket qatar on feb 2014. the camera was working perfect for 1 week, then suddenly i found it like i cant open my camera. It starts telling like camera cant be started. But due to some severe personal issues i was not able to take mob to a service center until now. But now as i am in India, i want to make my blackberry perfect. Even i have submitted my issue to blackberry already with the help of virtual expert. There also camera function was failure. So as I have 1 yr warranty for the product, i think i still can manage to get this problem rectified from you. Its finding difficult for me even to find an authorised service centre of blackberry in Kerala, India. Hope to see a reply from you suiting your world wide name.

    Please dont listen to all the other comments on web about wiping device and reloading software etc etc. Its not a hardware fault either so dont send back. SIMPLY download TASK MANAGER from BB World (free app) and this works in the same way on a PC. you will then see the APPs that are loaded on your device without you knowing and running in the background.
    Simply Kill one app at a time until the camera works. you wont need to reboot simply do as above and the problem will be fixed in 5 minutes

    Well, the news isn't so great. This does happen sometimes and nobody knows why. However, there is no solution that I'm aware of. I would say contact your carrier for warranty exchange but you're just a few weeks over the one-year warranty unless you're in a country where it's two years. Contact your carrier for warranty information. Sorry, wish I had better news.

  • Z10 Camera Not Working

    Hey Guys,
    I'm having a problem with my BB Z10 device.  A few weeks back I updated my phones software to OS 10.3.1.1779. Since then my camera is not starting. Shows a message "The camera can't be started due to hardware issue or insufficient permissions
    My phone never fell off from any where or is damaged. Even I use a limited number of apps so no permission problem should happen. Not a clue. Even my manager has the same phone and just after the OS updated he has the same issue. He has tried securuty wipe and as well. Nothing happens same problem. I can't take pictures or selfies. Just imagine how horrable things are. Can someone help. Thanks in advance.

    Previous attempts to do so have quickly been removed.
    I will mention that it possibly invalidates your warranty doing this and definitely does if you install a leaked OS in its entirety.

  • Z10 Camera issues

    I bought the device on the 17th of Feb, the camera worked for 2 days then it started giving me the error "Camera can't be started". I restared the device, it worked for a day, then it stopped for good. I wiped the device, removed the memory card, even the sim card, nothing helped.
    yesterday i took the device to Lulu ( Abu Dhabi - UAE) where i bought it from, and they wanted to convince me that the device might be repaired, which i couldnt believe, i will not accept a device that costed me 2600 AED 6 days back, to be opened and repaired!!!
    i clearly requested that the device has to be replaced with a new one, but then they told me that it is not in their hands, as the device goes to EMS in Dubai. I talked to EMS call center, the agent told me that as it is only 6 days, if there is any fault and a part needs to be replaced, then the device will be replaced, but I explained to him that yesterday was the 6th day and that the device might reach them on the 7th or 8th day, depends on when Lulu will decide to send it to them, and all what he said is that this is their policy!!!!!! so I might now get back a repaired device, not good customer service at all!!!!!!

    First, please understand that This is a user-to-user community support forum. We are not RIM employees, but volunteers who enjoy assisting other users. RIM personnel rarely comment on queries posted here. You would have noticed this in the message upon registration.
    I would suggest that you argue heavily that you not receive a repaired device! The device is brand new, and if there is indeed a hardware problem you really do deserve a new device.

  • Can't "join" started hello conversation without camera on firefox

    Hello there
    So as title says I can't join a conversation I started with Hello app. I can create the room, share the link and I receive a notification that my other partner connected, but we can't hear\see each other. We both have FF36. Also on his side when he joins the room, he can see a text in the middle saying "you are the first to join the room". Weird thing is that I can absolutely join other people room, and it works correctly!
    The thing I think I noticed is that people with a camera can start and " host" properly a call. Another guy i know with my same setup (no camera and only mic on a desktop pc) has my exact same issue, can't host but can join other people rooms with a camera. Unfortunately we tested only with people that use laptops with integrated camera, so I don't have other people with my setup that can try and test if what i say is true.
    I don't know if I was clear enough on this, tell me if you need more info. We all had Windows machine, with win 7\8 no issue on that, different networks, ecc... only thing I noticed is that they all have a camera, me and the other guy don't.
    Any suggestions?

    there are various programs like https://manycam.com that install an (additional) virtual camera driver on your pc to apply some after effects and so forth - you could try if this is enough to trick firefox hello. i haven't tried that so far ;-)
