Z10 crashing frequently - Display dims and then device dies

Dear Support Team, My BB Z10 is crashing very frequently and doesnot boot up. Some times in a day it does start but after 5-10 mins, it just switches off. There is a peculiar way it switches: The display begins to dim and eventually fades away with only very dim white back light stays and after some time it tries to reboot but without any success.  I have seen some threads regarding the same issue, but didnot find any concrete resolution. As per the recommendations, I performed a complete swipe and factory restored the BB to find whether it was android app compatibility or software release bug. But the problem again cropped up after 40 mins or so. I am going to use the autoloader and try resetting the BB and will keep you posted. In the mean time can you also recommend any alternative to try. I am also considering removing the SD card and try using my phone and keep you posted about the result. I have attached the screen shot i managed to capture while the device was running.    Kindly help!!!Thanks in advance. RegardsHarshad

Below details for reference: MODEL: STL100-1SOFTWARE RELEASE: 10.3.1.1799OS VERSION: 10.3.1.2576 I have attached the screen shots but may be they are not uploaded properly. ThanksHarshad

  • After installing 10.6.7....my display dims and then turns off...

even while watching a movie on iTunes. This has never happened before. I tried looking for setting but could not find one. Any ideas..help?? Thanks!

Same problem here as well, but only after the latest iTunes update (10.2.1 (1)). The only workaround I found so far to keep iTunes from dimming during full screen play is to use Hot Corners. Go to System Preferences > Desktop & Screensaver > Hot Corners and select "Disable screensaver" from drop down menu in one corner of the screen. Then, putting your cursor in this corner during full screen play will keep the screen from dimming.
Not the most elegant solution, but it works. Here's hoping another iTunes update is coming soon to fix this problem.

  • Macbook pro dims and then brightens within a second

I have my macbook pro 2.4 ghz 15" set to automatically reduce brightness before display goes to sleep. When it does this, the display sometimes dims and the keyboard shuts off like its supposed to but other times the display dims and then within a second it brightens and the keyboard stays dark. I'm not sure why this is. I mean it doesn't do it more than it does but its still frustrating. Is it due to the 10.6.5 OS?

Could it be related to the ambient light sensor? Turn it off and see. The check box for this can be found in Displays Preferences.

Quit the messages app and reset your phone.
Go to the Home screen and double click the Home button. That will reveal the row of recently used apps at the bottom of the screen. Tap and hold on the app in question until it jiggles and displays a minus sign. Tap the minus sign to actually quit the app. Then tap anywhere on the screen above that bottom row to return the screen to normal. Then restart the app and see if it works normally. Then reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider should one appear until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart.
After the phone restarts go into Messages and delete the thread containing the problem message.

Every 1 to 5 minutes my screen transiently dims and then restores as if there is a power interruption. There is an associated beep. It's as if there is a power transient in the video circuit. Anything I can do?

That's a brownout, where you don't have enough electricity going to the device.
It usually occurs with bad wiring, or a heavy device like a AC or refrigerator unit kicking on the compressor which draws a lot of current.
You need to reduce the electrical load on the power lines your using, if you don't know, call in a electician to take a look and calculate your load.
It's a potential fire hazzard too when there is a big spike like that, electrical fires start that way.
Use your device someplace else with good power and see if it continues. Then you know it's a hardware problem.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

itunes will only sync with an ios device.
On the other hand, if you have a usb cord for your mp3 player, and you know what FOLDER your itunes music is located in (and for me its located at C:\Users\YOUR NAME HERE\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media  )
you can just select that folder and copy it to your mp3 player.
typically when you first plug in something like an mp3 player you get a windows alert asking if you want to view the contents of the device- say yes. copy your itunes folder to the music folder on your mp3 player.

Did you try to charge it using the adapter or your computer?
If you can, let it charge for about 15min, then connect in recovery mode, described in this article:
iOS: Unable to update or restore
If still not luck, your battery might have to be replaced:

    Hi lammyrock,
I want to let you know to be patient as this troubleshooting can take some time depending on many different. First try putting your iPhone into recovery mode and then use iTunes to restore it. To do that, you can that by making sure that your iPhone is turned off, hold the Home button down while it is plugged into iTunes. You should get the graphic on your iPhone to plug it into iTunes and iTunes should prompt you to restore it. Once that is done and if you have a back up in iTunes or in iCloud, then you can put that back on after the restore is complete. Take a look at the article below for more information to help you.

  • When I open my MacBook Air to log on it dims and then lights up and deletes my password as I am typing it. Could there by something wrong?

As I open it to type in my password it'll dim and light up and then when it lights up again, it'll delete my password. It's not a huge deal. I don't mind retyping my password, but it makes me think there is something wrong with it since it does this. It's not a significiant change in display, it's almost not noticeable. I bought this Mac about one month ago, so I'm hoping I have not done something to damage it already. Thanks!

Interestingly, it appears you did manage to get your podcast accepted in the Store - if you did this with an .html feed I'm a bit surprised it worked. I wonder whether you started with an .xml URL and it got changed by accident?
If you did manage to get the Store to accept a feed with an .html extension then you will need to change its attention to the revised version of the feed. This will mean that you will have to leave the present feed where it is, upload a version with the correct extension (having checked it works) and then add the 'itunes:new-feed-url' tag to the incorrect feed as described in this page:
    http://www.wilmut.webspace.virginmedia.com/notes/podcast.html#move
Of course if you managed to change the extension by accident then changing it back should do the job.

  • My display scrambles and then freezes

Every so often, my display scrambles/pixelates and then freezes.  When I say the display scrambles, I mean parts of whatever window that I have open stay open even when I close them.  Also, the dock icons are scrambled as well.  Is there a fix?

Same issue here with an early 2009 24" iMac. Picked up last Thursday by AppleCare and currently awaiting repair. Will let you know what the issue for mine is as soon as I get it back. By the way, the issue came to life after upgrade to OSX Lion and got worse after the latest update last week. Cheers

  • Installing another display manager and then rescue mode

Hello, I proceed by this manual on wiki: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/display_manager and then after reboot I got rescue mode and error:  "Failed to start default.target:Operation refused, unit may not be isolated."
So I restored the symbolic link and it still doesnt work. Can somebody help or I have to reinstall arch?

    you could try executing
    systemctl isolate graphical.target
If that doesn't work, try systemctl isolate multi-user.target , which should transfer you to a console login.
    edit
re-installing is rarely needed on arch, but you may have done something wrong in setting up the display manager.
which DM did you try to enable ?
