Z10 display issues need urgent attention.

Hi there.
I would like to know whether there should be more than one plastic film covering the Z10 when boxed / shipped?
Upon receiving my phone from my service provider / carrier, I peeled off the plastic film that it came with out the box to reveal the biggest and brightest display I have ever seen. But, unfortunately the joy was short lived...
Firstly, the device becomes extremely hot when operated with multiple background applications and / or while using mobile data networks etc. That I am not so concerned with any more, as it seems to be a quiet common topic on the forums and elsewhere online.
The problem is the display / screen of my Z10 that has me very worried.
It seems as if the glass, which in my case does not look nor feel like glass, is covered in a slightly thicker plastic coating, which for the first few days were not visible at all. This plastic covering has now started to lift from the display, causing bubbles underneath this plastic layer.
Although this layer is lifting, it does however remain very much intact around the edges of the screen. So, I am wondering whether this plastic coating is part of the actual display or whether it is something I could, or should have removed, because I wasn't aware of devices coming with a double layer of film protection.

The Z10 ships with one layer of protective coating, which is common with electronic devices. If you're seeing bubbles forming in the middle of the screen, you've got a defective unit and should return it to MTN for a replacement. Make sure to do a data backup with BlackBerry Link before doing so.

LCD monitor display issue, need help

I have a strange problem with my LCD display, it goes like this:
When I first boot up the mac and the wallpaper appears on the display the image looks perfect, all the tones are right etc, but as the startup progresses, programs loading etc, the display changes suddenly, becomes too bright in the highs, too dark in the lows, and over-saturated in between. Its looks horrible.
I have just discovered that I can correct the issue by going into system prefs, display, selecting the options tab (next to Display and Color) and turning overscan on, then back off, voila, all fixed.
Looks great.
Thing is I have to do this every time now that I start the computer, and Im wondering if anyone knows what causes this issue and if theres anything I can do as a more robust solution.
The kicker is I have the same problem with a viewsonic LCD on my secondary machine (Powermac G5, Osx 10.4), right at the beginning of startup it looks great then suddenly all goes wrong, too dark/light over-saturated. Its as if the image has been blended with itself in multiply mode a la photoshop.
And on my second machine there is no option for overscan so I cant use my quick fix.
Is overscan a feature of the OS or the monitor?
The worst part is I need these displays to work correctly because Im a graphic designer, I need my colors to look right so I can do my job, and while I could go buy a $1000 monitor its not possible atm, and Id kinda like to know why this problem occurs. So if I do buy a different I can be assured the problem wont rear its ugly head again. But I dont think the problme is the monitor. I think its something to do with the communication between the display and the computer.
The monitor can display correctly, and does for a brief moment, then it all goes very wrong. Ive spoken to NEC and they werent much help but Ill be trying them again today too.
But again, I thinks its the computer, not the monitors as I can reproduce the issue swapping out monitors.

I am currently having the same problem with my 20" cinema display. Did you ever find a long term solution? Apple states that the PowerMac G5 is legacy with no support available, and suggested a reset the PRAM. I did so to no avail. I too have 10.4.11 and thus no "overscan" to turn off. This is my wife's primary computer for her photography business, and the color issue needs to be resolved as quickly as I can find the answer.
Is there a possible solution through the terminal?

it appears fine, both on OS X and XP. However, as usual, when it
displays in IE there are two things wrong with it:
1. Below the header there is an image that creates a shadow
effect, below that effect is a black space as if there is some sort
of margin there. At the bottom of the screen you'll see the same
issue. I tried 0px margins on several different areas and didn't
get any different results.
2. When you reduce the window size to anything less than
1024x768 the page distorts in an unnecessary way instead of
becoming liquid.
Any ideas?

HP Envy 17 3D 1201tx issues, need urgent help

I had purchased HP Envy 17 3D 1201tx notebook back in March 2011, but could hardly use it due to some personal problems at my end. However, after 8 months of the purchase, when i used it, I found the BDROM drive was not working, and later on the internal cooling fan also stopped working. As, I said, due to personal problems I could not contact HP, and the laptop was not again in use for many months.
I had just about six months back started gettings SMART failure of HDD, and the hard drive gave way as well (sic).
I've contacted HP just few months back to get a paid service, but rather giving service, they misbehaved. I'm now seeking help on HP support forum, please help me getting past the issues with this expensive laptop.

1. BDROM drive would not recognize/read any writable or re-writable CD/DVD and it only recognizes read-only CDs.
My query is "is the optical drive dead or service able?"
2. Internal cooling fan is not working. Is it service able, can you guide me "how to open the laptop", so I can service or replace the cooling fan with a new one myself?
3. Internal 640 GB Toshiba HDD that came with the laptop is dead now. I have selected the following two, can you advise, which is the best between the two:
a. WD 1 TB LaptopInternal Hard Drive(WD10JPVT/WD10JPVX)
b. Seagate Solid State Hybrid Drive 9.5 mm thickness 1 TB Laptop Internal Hard Drive (ST1000LM014)
4. I also want to upgrade the RAM from factory installed 4 GB to 8 GB. Can you please advise me the dual channel RAM modules (i.e. 4x4 GB) compatible with Envy 17 3D 1201tx.

Personally I would go for seagate drive but western digital will be fine so long as you have the recovery media.
Disassembly of laptops can be tricky if you are new to it. Too long to explain here but Google for a service manual for your unit or a YouTube video. With patience and a good screwdriver it's not too much trouble.
Depending on what's wrong with the fan (man be just clogged with dust) you may need a replacement. Look for spares on ebay or spares supplier.
Ram should be easy to find out, Google the part number or check the bios. You can check the manual for compatible ram or try Kingston/crucial ram checker database (not guaranteed but rarely wrong)

WSRM Configuration Issues-Need Urgent Help

we are configuring WSRM between TM 9.0 and ERP 606 systems. we have followed the document from the SAP note 1043195. we have completed the technical configuration. we are facing issues in application configurations.
1. When we have tried to create central business scenario configuration connection, the input help pop-up window is showing correct values in the fields (Consumer System is ERP , Provider System is TM) but when we click on create both consumer and provider systems become ERP system)
2.For the service group TM_ERP_ORDINT, both consumer and provider system showing ERP systems and provider interface is mismatching with guide provided interfaces.
As per the guide, consumer proxy should be mapped to below respective service interfaces but system showing wrong service interfaces.(We saved the above selected entries)
how to resolve the issues?

Production Issue Need urgent help

We just added new disk on our db box. its sun 890 box after that the DB is running very slow and the cpu is showing 100% is there any way we can find out the cause of the issue.

Check with the OS monitoring tools. You should provide the OS and DB versions in your thread so a more proper direction on the recommended tools can be provided.
If you are on 10g you could use the performance monitor from the EM DB Console and you could see if Oracle is responsible for this high CPU consumption.
By the way. I kindly suggest you to use a more descriptive thread title, 'Urgent' and 'Production Issue' doesn't let any body figure out what you are talking about. On the other hand, labeling urgent won't make all posters go running to solve this issue, all threads are treated equally on a first come first served basis and it depends on posters availability.

Java and Batch File Issue - need urgent help

I have a java program which calls a batch file. This batch file calls another java program. I want an option so that I can close this java program from main program.
If i try process.destroy then it will call batch file and not java program.
I can't go away with batch file.
I will appreciate if someone can help me.

I need to kill server which was started by batch file.On Linux it would be fairly simple to modify your batch file to determine what the process id is and send the process a signal to terminate it.
Not sure what you can do on Windows.

Help with display settings needed urgently

Graphics and icons that are supposed to be round appear oval. For instance the Safari and App icons on the dock appear very oval. Logos on websites I've visited before and I know are round appear oval.
I've tried all display settings and nothing helps. I'm a designer and this is causing a major hinderance. Everything appears condenced / squashed sideways. I'd be very grateful if someone could help with this.
I've just purchased the laptop. I have been using Mac for a few years and I've always selected the "stretched" option from the Display settings which sorted out the problem completely. A circle looked a proper circle. But in this version the option is not available.

It sounds like you have selected an incorrect resolution. For starters, are you talking about your Air's display or an external display? You haven't said which Air you have. If you have an 11" model, make sure your display resolution is set to 1366x768. If you have a 13" model, it should be set to 1440x900. These are the proper resolutions for the built in displays. Chosing anything other than the referenced "native" display resolutions will result in distortions or clarity problems.

ALE Data Transfer Issue--Needs Immediate Attention

I am hoping somebody can guide me here--
We are on E-Rec 603 with seperated standlone e-rec system.
we have set up ALE Data transfer for object type P from ECC QA to E-Rec QA system but unfortunately the I-Doc is always gettign posted with status 52 ( application document not fully posted).
The infotypes 0000,0001,0002,0006 and 0105 are being transferred. The report HRALXYSNC refuses to recognise the 'P' object transferred and says=='data not found for search condition'.
We debugged HRALXSYNC and found that IT 0003 needs to be included but we tried transferring that too--however, the ALE still fails to transfer the data.
Not sure why the data transfer is not happening--what is the best alternative?
Would really reallly appreciate some light....!!

first of all we should have a look on your system landscape. If you have e-recruiting on an standalone server, the server installation should only include basis components (BASIS, ABA, PI, ...) and the e-recruiting component. Running e-recruiting standalone on a server with a complete ERP installation is not officially supported up to EhP3.
Could you please check that you either have the first landscape situation or if you have installed a full ERP implemented note 1147882.
Before running some ALE at all ensure that the system works well and w/o any SLG1 entries for external candidates and internal candidates created using report RCF_CREATE_USER.
Then make sure the BAdI implemtations are set accorting to note 997181:

Make sure you use the best practise step by step descripion for the intial data transfere for EhP 3 documented in note 997181 document Two_Instance_E-REC_Integr_ERP_EN.pdf page 4, add the processing for type C after each object type S step.

Based on the error message, the issue occurs on the dimension 'Package Download Source'. So check the involved tables and the query for this dimension. Check the attribute 'Package Download Source' in the dimension. If you still can't find some issue, try
to recreate that dimension. Please refer to link below:

Process Chain issue-Needs urgent Help

R/3 Master Data Main Chain
Problem Description:
When we trigger the process chain from SM64, the process chain fails at the step as shown below.
There are no logs for the local chain i.e. the local chain fails without linking.
If we manually schedule the local chain it runs successfully.
The error message changed as and when we tried fixing the defects. Each of them with the solutions tried for them is explained below.
ERROR 1:
The error message which we got was as Cannot Activate Job BI_PROCESS_LOADING (return code 8).
Solution tried:
1.     Replicating Data Sources and activating the transfer and communication structures by running the programs RS_COMSTRU_ACTIVATE_ALL and RS_TRANSTRU_ACTIVATE_ALL.
ERROR 2:
Later we found that the released job was missing for failed local chain.
Solution tried:
1.     We created a new job by copying a previous job.
ERROR 3:
When we re-scheduled the process chain, we got the error message as shown below.
Solution tried:
1.     Deleted all the logs which were in running status.
ERROR 4:
After re scheduling the process chain we are getting the error message as shown below. This is the error message we are getting now.
Solutions Tried:
1.    Saving the variant and reactivating the process chains.
2.     Replicating Data Sources and activating the transfer and communication structures by running the programs RS_COMSTRU_ACTIVATE_ALL and RS_TRANSTRU_ACTIVATE_ALL.
3.     Changing the scheduling options of the failed local chain to Start using Meta Chain or API from Direct Scheduling.
4.     We searched for locked entries in SM12. There are no locked entries.
5.     We ran attribute change run with variant for info object Profit Center from the following path
    RSA1-> Tools-> Apply Hierarchy/ Attribute Change Run. We created a new variant for the info object.
We still could not find a solution. do let us know if you have any inputs.

We created a new process chain and when we do a check on it,we are getting a warning message.
We just upgraded our Dev box from 3.5 to 7.0. Our master data process chains, which reflect samples delivered by SAP, are giving warnings saying "too many parallel processes" for chosen server. It refers us to note 621400.
I am curious to know if others have run into this, and if they have changed their MD process chains to run in a serial fashion.
Prior to the upgrade, we had no deadlocks with process chains.

Transparent Partition issue-Need urgent Help

Hi All,
We have a application called( Eg: ABC) which is having a transparent partition
There are 4 transparent partitioned cubes out of which 2 ASO & 2 BSO
the daily load process for this is
if we have a cubes called XYZ and XYZ_B
First it will drops the XYZ_B cube and then creates a copy of XYZ cube called XYZ_C(which copies the partition file also) after that the data is got loaded to the copy cube (XYZ_C cube) once data load is done it will renames the original cube (XYZ) to XYZ_B & XYZ_C to XYZ cube.
At the End we have only XYZ & XYZ_B
In this process it is creating an orphan partitions in this it is showing the source as (XYZ_C cube).
Please help me how can we resolve this .

First it will drops the XYZ_B cube and then creates a copy of XYZ cube called XYZ_C(which copies the partition file also) after that the data is got loaded to the >>copy cube (XYZ_C cube) once data load is done it will renames the original cube (XYZ) to XYZ_B & XYZ_C to XYZ cube.I assume you are doing the above operations with partition in tact.
First drop the transperent partition.
Do the operations on the cube.
Create transperent partitrion after.

Major Ipod Issue - Need Urgent Help

A buddy of mine was playing his iPod in his Bose dock during a lightning storm (not the best idea....) and apparently his Ipod got busted. When he first described it I thoguht it had gotten fried, but after taking a look at it, I think it may still work. When attempting to plug it in via USB, it shows either a funky battery icon or the Apple icon. Seeiing this, I figured there may still be a way to save it. Attempting to use it with iTunes or iPod setup comes up with it not being recognized. So might anyone have some suggestions on how I may be able to fix this? Or perhaps my buddy can send his iPod into Apple in hopes that they may be able to salvage it? Thanks for any help.

Does it play on the charger? Currently I have a 3rd Gen iPod thats been suffering battery problems but works fine if it its being charged. I have a sound dock as well and may have played it through a lightning storm without thinking about it. I decided to purchase a do-it-yourself battery replacement kit for $10 and am still waiting for it to arrive. If it's a battery problem, the $10 kit is a much cheaper solution than the $70 Apple repair, if he doesnt have apple care.

Repeated iMac Problems, Display Issues now Kernel Panics

I’m lost on what’s wrong with my 2008 iMac and I think I just have to bring it back into Apple for a third time to have it repaired. But something is obviously not working that is causing these issues.
About a month ago, my computer began showing heavy pixilation, flickering images and the on-screen graphics. The computer appeared to keep working in the background from what I could tell so I came to conclusion that it must be the graphics card that’s failing and I’ll need to have it looked at.
My 2008 iMac was custom-built by Apple with the Nvidia GeForce 8800GS that was offered as an upgrade option. There have been several posts on the display and graphics discussion board about that graphics card along with other postings other places about the problems the Nvidia GeForce 8-series had.
The display problems I mention above would not happen immediately, it would happen as the computer warmed up and was used for 3-5 minutes.
Anyway I brought my computer into Apple explained to them what I believed was the problem and the Apple Store technician agreed with me. Because I did not purchase AppleCare, it cost me $400 and a week without my iMac to have that card replaced.
I got the computer back two weeks ago and everything seemed fine. It was working as it always had. I even was running SMC Fan Control in order to keep the computer as cool as I could (the Nvidia problem was related to overheating).
But this morning, this is what I woke up to:

The computer now has a semi-permanent pixilation when it starts up (as suppose to the pixilation 3-5 minutes into use). But more worrisome now is I cannot start up the computer without it going into a kernel panic. I tried resetting the PRAM, I tried starting in safe mode. The only thing I haven’t tried yet is booting from an external HD which I will try this evening (to hopefully isolate it if it’s hardware or a software problem).
The Apple Hardware Test has been unhelpful. When it originally failed three weeks ago, the test showed nothing and this morning when I ran it (permanent pixilation and all), it showed nothing. I feel like if it was a software issue the pixilation would have disappeared during the hardware test because that’s not an OS-X based program.
Here are my specs on this computer:
2008 iMac 24" 2.8ghz Intel Core Duo, 4 gigs of RAM (Crucial Purchased, I have original sticks somewhere), 1 TB HD, Nvidia GeForce 8800GS.

Hi, just to update you, I came home today and did a few things that didn't seem to solve my Mac's problems:
- I booted up from my firewire "safe" drive that I keep a copy os x on to see if I had a corrupted hard drive or something. It booted into the kernel panic I described above.
- I also swapped out the crucial RAM for Apple's factory RAM. It also booted into the Kernel Panic.
In both incidents, the display issues didn't go away. Now instead of pixelization i have vertical bars running in a pattern across my screen.
I'm currently trying to boot onto the OS X CD at this point to see if I could do a reinstall. It's taking quite awhile to boot into that.
With that in mind, I think we're still having graphics card issues or more seriously some logic board problem.

13" Macbook (black), Snow Leopard, Boot Camp, Windows 7 display issue

OK I don't know where to post this. I couldn't find an appropriate forum under Boot Camp (nothing for display). Apologies if this is the wrong forum.
I am attempting to run Windows 7 using Boot Camp. Here is the behavior:
Booting Windows 7 without any monitor plugged in works fine.
Booting with an external monitor plugged in, I get the display on the external monitor. Now when I unplug the external monitor, the LCD display backlight is off and is completely dim. I had to reboot it in order for the LCD display to work again.
This is not a macbook display issue. But it has to do something with the way Windows 7, BootCamp are compatible with a macbook. Anyone seen this or know what the fix is?

I can not get my Win 7 (32) os to see my Mac 10.6 partition. Is there something I need to set or turn on to get this to work?
As for your problem, perhaps Windows is not seeing the FireWire bus?

Z10 display issues need urgent attention.
