Z10 freezes, switches off, requires battery pull

I have had my Z10 since July.  Initially every 3-4 days it would not respond and require a battery pull to start working.  After all the updates this has become frequent.  Now the machine locks up 3-4 times a day.
Any suggestions!

What is happening is that your on-device battery meter is off-sync with the actual battery charge.
Connect to your OEM wall outlet battery charger and while still connected and powered on, remove the battery a minute to reboot. After reboot leave to fully charge to 100%.
This will reset the false charge reading. You may need to do perform this procedure 2-3 times.

Very horrible experience i am facing with Z10..
Kind hearts in BB Support Forums.. Please help me to solve this issue..
    Thanks..

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Please try this sequence...note that, throughout the entire 4h15m process, your BB must remain directly connected to a known-good wall charger (not PC USB, not a cradle):
With the battery inside, connect your BB to the wall charger
Leave it alone for 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
    Remove the battery
    Wait 15 minutes
    Insert the battery
Wait another 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
This has been known to "kick start" some BBs.
It is also possible that your battery or BB has experienced a problem...to test, this sequence is needed:
Obtain an known good and already fully charged additional battery...use it in your BB and see what happens
Obtain access to a known good and identical BB...use your battery in it and see what happens
The results of this will indicate if it's your BB or your battery that has the problem. Note carefully please that "new" and "know good" are not necessarily the same things. While rare, a "new" battery certainly could be defective. Rather, the simplest (and least costly, btw) method to conduct this test is to find someone with an identical BB who has no issues...trade batteries and see what happens.
Good luck and let us know!

  • HT1438 iPhone 5 switches off saying battery low when it shows 42% battery remaining , if I leave it ten mins it turns back on and I's fine ? Had anyone else had this problem

iPhone 5 switches off saying battery low when it shows 42% battery remaining , if I leave it ten mins it turns back on and I's fine ? Had anyone else had this problem?

    Hi Dean,
    Yep, there are others too...:

  • Iphone 5  switches off when battery still has 15%

After updated to iOS 7,  my iphone 5 always switched off when battery still have 15%. Anybody have the same issues?

Sounds as if the battery may need to be recalibrated. Let the battery drain until it turns off. Then connect the phone to the charger and let it charge to 100%. Disconnect and then use it. It should get it back to a better read. The batteries are designed to shut down when the battery has a certain amount of power left. The battery percentage is not always that accurate.
You can take a look at this link from Apple about batteries. http://www.apple.com/batteries/iphone.html

  • IPhone 4S - phone switches off before battery percentage has got to 0

iPhone 4S - phone switches off before battery percentage has gone to 0 - usually switches off when it's between 20-30%.
When I try the force restart it has the battery sign.  (Home Button+Power button)
When I plug the charger in it starts charging  from the point it shut off, 20-30%.
    Have tried reset all settings.
Have done a restore and setup as a new phone.
Any way I can get it start charging from 0 instead of where it shut off (20-30%) ?

Bit of a trek to the Apple store + i can't really send it off as I'm using it all the time.
Anything I can do to recalibrate or reset it so battery drains and starts to charge from 0, before I have to go to the Apple store?

  • BB Curve 8900 - randomly stops receiving emails and requires battery pull

I'm a newb to BB and this forum has helped a lot but my BB Curve 8900 randomly stops receiving emails about every 2 days and requires a battery pull to correct.
When it stops receiving emails and I go to the browser, it is also unable to connect. I basically lose all connection to data. I can receive calls and sms.
Turning unit off and on does not help.
I need to do a battery pull. Then starts working fine right away.
    I'm with Rogers in Canada
Is there a fix for this? Could I possibly have a bad phone? Battery pull once is a while is fine but to need to do that every 2 days is not.

Something similar happens to me.  I have to keep resending the service books and then it works fine, try this, at least it will stop you keep doing a hard reset.  I have read somewhere else that this can be influenced by having your phone to turn off at night etc.  So for now I have turned this feature off.  I can actually receive emails via wifi and the failure is only on GPRS.  It sounds a bit strange but I am also becoming convinced that it only occurs when I leave home, go somewhere else and then come back.
Read this below.  I did do all this but it hasnt worked for me, may help you though

  • BB Q10 - Difference between Power OFF and "Battery pull out"?

    Hello,
Any one has any info on what difference the phone sees between a proper power switching OFF and doing a battery pull out?
Apparently, some of the customer service guys at BlackBerry advises you to do a battery pull out while the phone is in ON mode.
Just curious to know what is the reason behind it.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

When you power off your phone, it keeps everything intact until you power on again. When you do a battery pull, it interrupts the operation of the phone and many temporary files, not necessary to the proper operation of the phone, are erased. In many instances, when there's something playing havoc on your phone it can be found within these temp files.
Another method to do a battery pull is to press and hold the power button until BlackBerry appears on the screen. Other things will appear before that but if you continue holding until it shows, the effect is similar to doing a battery pull with the phone powered on. Note that pressing the power button to shut off the phone does not erase these temp files unless you hold it until BlackBerry shows, usually about 15 seconds.
    I hope that helps you.

  • IMac keeps freezing / switching off

    Hi all,
I have an IMac 2Ghz Intel Core 2 duo 3 gb 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM Mac OS X version 10.7.5
I inherited this from bro in law and I'm a relative novice (I basically google everything).
It keeps freezing and sometimes switching off quite often.
It happens mainly when I'm using iPhoto - I have checked the activity monitor and iPhoto shows over 100% even when idle.
I have lots of photos, films, videos on a 2TB external hard drive which IPhoto and iTunes is setup to.
Any suggestions or have I just got too much stuff for the computer to handle - 3/4 of the hard drive is used?
    Any advice appreciated.
    Thanks

If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Enter "BOOT_TIME" (without the quotes) in the search box. Note the timestamps of those log messages, which refer to the times when the system was booted. Now clear the search box and scroll back in the log to the last boot time after  you had the problem. Select the messages logged before the boot, while the system was unresponsive or was failing to shut down. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V). Please include the BOOT_TIME message at the end of the log extract.
If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message.
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
    Step 2
Still in Console, look under System Diagnostic Reports for crash or panic logs, and post the entire contents of the most recent one, if any. In the interest of privacy, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if present (it may not be.) Please don’t post shutdownStall, spin, or hang logs — they're very long and not helpful.

    Hi Joy
    Welcome to the Community
Your battery show false percentage. To correct it, reboot your device. When it's ON, connect to the wall charger and remove the battery. Leave it for 20 minutes and keep it charging. This reboot will correct some programs/apps error and incorrect battery meter. You may need to do this reboot within next 1 or 2 days or when the same symptom show up.
    Good luck.

  • Repacement phone still freezing, and having to battery pull again.

I have not long had a replacement phone due to it freezing all the time, now the replacement phone has started to do the same, even though it is still under waranty can I I take it back to the carphone warehouse and change my phone to a different model of blackberry because I do not want to stick with the curve and want to go back to using the bold as I had no problems with the last one I had, any info would be grateful.

I think Carphone Warehouse would be able to better answer that question.
When the freezing starts do you know how much free memory the device has?
