Z10 Issues So Far

Hi, Leaving this list of faults/bugs which I hope Blackberry/RIM Will pick up on as there does not appear to be an official way to submit faults/requests:-
1) It is possible to adjust master volume when phone is locked. This should only be adjustable when unlocked as I keep putting the phone onto silent, even when it has just been pulled out of the genuine Blackberry case.
2) What happened to all the Blackberry ringtones and message tones, the bundled tones are terrible, there isnt even a standard phone ringtone?
3) Phone reboots every now and again for no reason?
4) Can phone touch screen sensitivity be increased, it is no where near as responsive as my IPhone 5?
5) Previous Blackberry diallers. When in the standard dialer screen in OS 5 and below, once I start typing a persons name the list get smaller as I approach the exact name. In the new dialler it is not possible to do this (only allows direct entry of a phone number) and I have to search via the contacts tab. I have over 1300 contacts and this is crazy/long winded.
6) On occasion when pulling the phone from the Blackberry case the volume/speaker image flashes repeatedly and I have to lock the phone with the power button then unlock?
7) There is very little information regadring BES email setup. Previously I was using Bold 9900 with hosted BES. This offers AES 256 bit encryption. At present I can only connect using activesync. Will there be any hosted BES 10 partners available in the near future? As it stands I may as well stick with IPhone. Forgetting about the on-device security/encryption, one of the major (if not the major) features of blackberry is being confident that over the air email from server to device is secure, especially when roaming abroad!
8) Is it possible to smooth out the physics engine regarding scrolling of screens, in particular in BB App World. The pages seem to jump a set number of icons when flicked rather than scroll smoothly.
Some of the above may have been mentioned elsewhere in the forum. Other than these software bugs, the device is an excellent start. It would also be of great benefit if there could be a more direct reporting method of software bugs?

at the risk of doing their job for these guys/girls, we shud creat a compendium of stuff we see already. some of it is little, some of it medium and some of it plain strategigally stupid.

why isnt BB listening?
some of my initial reactions:
CATEGORIES? - did i not configure my phone correctly???
elimination of the ability to use “categories” for tasks, contacts, calendar events annd notes. Im shocked. I was in disbelief until i visited BB forums where people are saying BB “abandoned” categories, groups and the like. This is a huge reduction in productivity and moreover demonstrates the BB business strategy remains completely disconnected from the needs of the professional business user.
Other silly aspects of your new platform ( and Ive only had my phone for a day) :
Inconsistent screen navigation requirements. (cancel in one place, back in another) dumb.
Difficulty escaping applications when you are two or three layers into the app.
You have added keystrokes to accomplish silly simple things like closing an app. I need two actions - slide and then touch- instead of just one.
When I sort contacts by last name it put them in order but presents the names first-last which defeats the purpose when you have over 1000 people in your contact list.
I cant get all my email accts into the front screens with other apps...
And dont get me started on the lack of apps - even the most simple and obvious: TD Bank, RBC, Watsapp, yada yada
can anyone get some mktg type at BB to organize this forum and get some official input? Google manages to do it.

FAQ: What are the known issues so far in Photoshop CS6 Beta

APPLICATION COEXISTENCE
Lightroom 4 Beta + Photoshop CS6 beta -- Editing the same video file simultanously in both applications may result in an error, crash, or blank (transparent) frames. You might see this Photoshop error: "Could not complete the Render Video command because of a problem with Adobe Media Encoder".
This will only be an issue with Lightroom 4 beta and Photoshop CS6 beta on the same system, editing the same video. The released versions will not have this issue.
Workaround: Upgrade to LR Release version (even if it's just the trial), or don't open the same file in both apps at the same time.
CS5 Help fails to launch after install of CS6
Workaround: Launch the stand alone "Adobe Help" application or reinstall CS5
CROP
Crop action shows wrong crop box.Playing an action with a crop step that has dialogs turned on results in a crop box that covers the entire canvas instead of the expected area.
Workaround: Ensure that the Crop Tool is selected before running the action or disable dialogs for the action.
FILTERS
(32bit OS only) Initial "Merge to HDR Pro" image display and result is black until settings are changed
Workaround: It will remain black until droplist in the "mode" line is selected, changed and activated, then action appears to be normal.
Bokeh color is different from preview after render at certain zoom levels on particular image patterns
Workaround: View image at 100%
Lighting effects bump map generates artifacts if an alpha channel bump map is used. The resulting preview and final image is artifacted across the gradiated areas of the alpha channel.
Workaround: Do not use a gradiated alpha channel as a bump map
Liquify will perform the filter and save to just part of the photo if you click cancel while it is "finishing processing" a large file.
LAYERS
If a vector layer has a center-aligned stroke combined with an inside-aligned layer style stroke, then that vector layer's stroke may not display correctly -- part of the vector layer stroke will disappear as the layer is moved around the image.
Workaround: Use the "Path Selection Tool" to move your vector around -- alternatively, Change the stroke alignment or remove underlying layers.
Dragging a selection box while layer filters are applied stops marquee selection from following cursor movement
Workaround: Even though the graphic of the selection marquee stops, the selection still happens. OR Turn off layer filtering before targeting the layers using a selection box
TYPE
Editing text attributes in the Character panel when the layer is locked can result in a crash
Workaround: Unlock your text layer prior to attribute adjustments in the Character panel
Setting the menu type>font>preview size to "huge" after opening a saved file caused photoshop to crash
Workaround: Uncheck Background save in Photoshop CS6
Style by example or definition not working as expected:
If any attribute in the Paragraph Panel is set and you create a new Paragraph Style, the new style is based on the default and the override is not cleared.
DRAWING AND PAINTING
Paint is offset with Grip Pen- if you select the Soft Low Density Airbrush Preset with Grip Pen paint with swicth facing right with a high tilt towards you the cursor shows the spray should be going up, but it sprays down.
3-D
Creating a video timeline and rendering video from two 3D layers may not include ground plane reflections
Workaround: Use mesh for ground plane instead of 3D engines construct, or duplicate the file and remove the keyframes
Creating a New background texture after changing lighting presets results in crash
Workaround: Create the New background texture prior to adjusting lighting presets
Unable to create a constraint on extruded object with Pillow Inflate setting applied. Further actions may result in Photoshop instability or crash.
Photoshop may crash when trying to align/distribute constraints from selections of two 3-D extruded objects
Photoshop may not always save a texture when you paint directly onto the 3d object using Paint on Target Texture setting.
Photoshop may crash when selecting a different panel filter after the focus has been on 2 fields in the environment flyout with IBL map present
Photoshop may crash after embedding a 3D layer into a layer group, creating a new 3d object in the group, and then closing the document.
When changing the color of the lines or points in the 3D scene cross section from the Properties panel, side b color overwrites the color in side A.
Program Error when adjusting fill value in Layers panel while in Lighting Effects workspace.
Workaround:You will have to use opacity slider instead of fill slider to pull back the lighting effect
PLUGINS
DUPLICATE PLUGINS CAUSE ISSUES ON MAC:
If you install duplicate plugins or point the additional plugins folder preferences to a duplicate set of plugins (such as, to an older version of Photoshop), then it is possible for odd Photoshop behavior, such as an inappropriate file extension to appear when saving files.
(example: while performing a "save as" to JPEG file type, the file format appears to change to .dcm)
In this case, there may be a duplicate "file formats" plugin that's populating the Save As file types list with duplicates of the same options.
If there are duplicate file format plugins installed, the Mac OS will remove the duplicates from the list, but you may still see the odd saving behavior.
Solution:
Remove the duplicate plugins.
If you are not sure if you have this issue, but are seeing odd behavior, you can check for duplicates by looking through the plugins listed in the Help > System Info dialog.
Bridge
Unable to Copy and Paste in File info in Bridge
Workaround: Typing info in Manually works, or copy and paste work in Photoshop's File Info dialog
Install
Adobe Setup Utility may quit, or error during install. You may see error: "Exit Code: 15"
Workaround: Create a folder named 'Templates' at "<Windows drive>:\Users\<current user login id>\AppData\Roaming\Micorsoft\Windows\"

Workaround: re-launch photoshop CS6 beta. This issue should not happen anymore

1. You can get full support for your camera by upgrading to Lightroom 4. But personally, I would wait for Lightroom 5 since it will be released shortly, probably within the next month. Lightroom 5 will work with Photoshop CS5. The only difference is that Lightroom will need to create a TIF or PSD file that contains all the changes you have made in Lightroom. That's not a big deal, in my opinion. That file has to be created at some point anyway whenever you use Photoshop.
2. Yes, Lightroom 4 will pass images back and forth between it and Photoshop.
3. The upgrade would not break Lightroom 3. It would essentially work the same as it does with your current setup.
4. If you purchase CS6 it is my understanding you will be allowed to use it indefinitely. This is not true of the Creative Cloud version. Support and updating for additional cameras will cease for CS6. Adobe has announced that they will make Camera Raw 8.1 so that it can be usable with CS6 as far as reading Lightroom adjustments. But any new controls will not be accessible.
5. So far, Adobe has indicated that they have no plans to making Lightroom a subscription-only offering.
You are asking your questions as though you are addressing Adobe directly. This is a User-to-user forum. I don't work for nor do I speak for Adobe. I am only giving you the information as I understand it. It seems to me that upgrading to Photoshop CS6 and Lightroom 5 is a "safe" choice. None of us, not even Adobe, really knows what the future will bring. Technology changes so quickly anymore that everything we are doing right now could be obsolete in a matter of a very short period of time. As Adobe changes their marketing strategies I think it will probably motivate some people to look elsewhere. I have Photoshop CS6 and I'm going to upgrade to Lightroom 5. Then I will have to wait and see what develops after that. At any rate, I have tools that I can use for the foreseeable future. If I have to change at some point then I will do so.

Z10 Issues with GMail Imap / Microsoft Active Exchange

I have seen lots of posts coming in on here and on crackberry.com about issues with emails. But I couldn't find any posts on the issues that I am having.
Just purchased a new Z10, coming from a BB 9900.
I would like to setup my gmail account on here but I am getting unexpected results. I have tried many different ways, gmail, imap, Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync and pop3.
What I find different from everyone is that I have a bunch of filters set up that auto direct some emails away from the inbox and into labels (folders). So I know things have changed from the 9900, but the way it happened on there was that a new email would show up in my unified inbox on the BB whether or not it was filtered. Then after reading it, I would have to search for it because it wouldn't actually be stored in the inbox. Which I was fine with.
We'll have my email description setup as "Personal"
Issues that I am having:
Imap set up:
- When I go from hub to my "Personal" box, it is a duplicate of my inbox. Looks the same as my inbox in mail.google.com, all nice and dandy.
- Emails that go directly to my inbox show up nice and quick and give me a notification in the hub etc.. that an email has shown up.
- Now when I receive an email that is being filtered. Gmail.com has it right away in my labels. So I know it's there. I can wait the 15/30 minutes that is setup for the sync, but I never get a notification of the email. If I go to the folder (by clicking on the drop down by the email description) then it shows up there with the yellow mail saying that it's a new mail. But there still isn't a notification saying I got a new email.
So that's IMAP.
M$ Exchange ActiveSync set up:
- Initially, going straight to my personal box from the hub makes it look somewhat like what it did on my 9900. Inbox, and filtered messages all showing up in the default view.
- If I receive a NEW (not part of a conversation) message that is/is not being filtered it shows up in this default view and I get a notification in the hub.
- Once I read that email, then go back to the default view. IF it is a msg in the inbox, it disappears and the only way I can find it is by going to the drop down then to the Inbox. But this seems to be random, sometimes it stays, sometimes it disappears. Also, if it gets moved directly to the inbox and I get a reply to that message I don't get a notification for a new email.
- If the email is a filtered email, it stays in the default view.
- Now if I get an email that is part of a conversation to a filtered email, I don't get a notification that I have a new email, but if I go to it from the hub, it's marked as a yellow mail symbol stating that it is new. Read that email, it stays in the default view.
So that's M$ EAS.
Email:
*******@gmail.com, so not a Paid Account or anything, just a regular gmail account. IMAP settings turned on and setup.
Hub Settings:
Display Style: conversation
Display order: name, subject
display message count: on
display new message indicator: on
show filed messages: on
show sent messages: off
Download images automatically: off
delete message confirmation: off.
Oh when I tried the gmail setup I believe it just used the same settings as IMAP. Pop3. just a disaster, all my messages were brought in (sent/receieved) marked as unread. Won't even bother with Pop3.
I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong with my setups, or that this is the way it is designed. I really don't want to have to check each folder everytime to see if have a new email. And I don't want to change my gmail setup so that nothing is filtered. I thought I had solved it with the M$ EAS but with the random moving of messages to other directories, it's a no go aswell.
If anyone has any ideas or suggestions for me it would be greatly appreciated.

I'm the author of the article linked to above. I appreciate the reference, but I don't think my article solves the OP's particular issues. To date, I've not found a way to enable notifications on new content in subfolders. I think this is a limitation in the BlackBerry 10 email client.
Since the paint is still wet on this OS, we can expect to see some improvements in forthcoming service releases. CalDAV for example is known by BlackBerry to be broken with Google Calendar. No ETA to fix at present. BlackBerry will have to address that, and soon.
I don't yet know if OS 10 is going to gain the traction the BlackBerry needs to survive in the market. If it does, I suspect we will see some third party email apps appearing in BlackBerry World in the future, with enhanced IMAP functionality. There's some precedent for this and we've seen similar happen on other mobile platforms. In any case, until BlackBerry does some email client rewrting, or an enterprising developer plugs the gap, I think the OP's niggle is going to remain. At the time of writing, BlackBerry World is showing a White Screen of Death. Figures.
One thing I'd urge all Google Apps users (especially of free accounts) to bear in mind is that Google will be pulling the plug on ActiveSync in the very near future. I've blogged about this in more detail, in a followup to my previously-mentioned post: Gmail + Google Apps on the BlackBerry Z10.
I hope this clarifies the position, even though the reality is less than satisfactory.

E71 issues so far, HELP!!!

ok i've had my e71-1 a total of two weeks and so far come across two major problems that are driving me mad,and have discovered that they are linked.firstly when connected to my pc, the fone will not allow me to 'safely remove, i know enough about pc's to understand task manager and have closed down any and every app that could possibly be accessing my phone and still comes up wit either something is using nokia.......lcif dvice or using nokia...... Usb obec device. Forcing me to simply remove the cable. This then brings about the seond problem, the wonderful 'file corrupted message on any theme or app i try to install. I tried the recommended encryption tricks etc and nothing worked,had to resort to full reset via the *#7370# after removing memory card to resolve it.would prefer nt to do that three or four times a week as i like my phone setup a particular way that takes some doing. So any input into the first safely remove issue would be greatly appreciated. If it makes a difference my system is running vista sp1.

Miix 2 10" Windows 8.1 Update 1 - no issues so far

just stopping by to inform others about my experience on Windows 8.1. Update 1 (official one, not the one leaked a while ago).
Installation went just fine, completed in about or less than 30 minutes. I lost about 1-2GB of storage with that update but managed to reclaim most of that by invoking cleanup procedures later on (DISM + Disk Cleanup).

dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /startcomponentcleanup /resetbase
No issues with functioning so far. Tablet is responsive and working as normal.
This update is planned to hit Windows Update next Tuesday.

The leaked one (leaked by Microsoft itself, via Windows Update) is the same exact build as the one you installed.
That said, being a user of the leaked build, I can confirm that Windows 8.1 Update 1 is also working fine on the Yoga 2 Pro. This statement comes after ~1 month of testing. The only thing I noticed is that the new update makes the adaptive brightness more evident and more annoying. There is no way to turn it off....and no, I am not talking about the adaptive brightness based on the sensor. This adaptive brightness is based on the display. If you go from a dark image to a light, you will see the screen adjust from a dim to a bright background. Kinda like flux.

Ridiculous Z10 Issues: Please Help

So where do I begin... First off I love my blackberry z10, I love it's functionality and ability to multi-task. Unfortunately, the phone is about as reliable as a car bought from a junk yard. If anyone can help me with any of the issues below I would greatly appreciated since no one from Rogers can help and Blackberry's customer service (ie. @blackberryhelp) is not reliable at all. Here are my issues:
I'm on my 2nd Z10 handset. I returned the first handset because of multiple rebooting issues.
On my current handset: the phone reboots on its own at least once a day
My text messages lag and I have to wait approximately 5 seconds before a text appears (so much for instant messaging)
The phone has reboot twice while on a call with a client
My missed calls are now somehow listed under the names of one of my contacts
There have been two instances where I have had the phone on silent and have recieved a phone call only to hear my phone ring as if it's on my normal volume settings. One instance happened in a business meeting, the next happened in a movie theatre.
Blackberry link does not recognize my phone on 3 computers so I can't back up my device.
Lighting my phone in fire will result in the loss of hundreds of dollars.
PLEASE HELP!!!!

6. You can set your phone notifications to override the silent profile.
7. There could be several things here to troubleshoot. Start with, on those PCs can you disable the antivirus and try again.

Z10 issue forwarding emails with large attachments

I am having an issue with my Z10 on Rogers running 10.0.10.85 version of the o/s using Exchange/ActiveSync.
I am unable to forward emails with attachments greater than about 300kb from my Z10, The emails just stay stuck in the inbox with the "sending" logo and they never send.
I really need to resolve this and our IT team is stumped? Has anyone else seen this? Any resolution?

Send this to your IT team and see if it helps. Within 3 minutes of making the changes all was fixed, that is of course if it's the same issue.

Z10 issue

I charged my Z10 overnight, woke up this morning, 100%,
restart my phone,i lost 4% to 96%,
the device gets hot, i went to the DEVICE MONITOR,there is an item call "System",in the first twenty minutes,the "CPU of the System" is mostly above 70%,sometimes 110%,the device is really hot,after the CPU calms down to nornal(1-10%),i lost 10% of my battery life to 86%,
i did nothing in that twenty minutes but watching the battery life,
I try again, the same, twenty minutes, another 10% lost.
i know the battery life of Z10 is not that good,but 10%/restart is unacceptable
IS THIS NORMAL?

I have the exact same issue since using SR 10.2.0424.
Does anybody have a solution?
Somebody said on a prior similar issue that the reason is indexing for the keyboard word suggestions, but can that take days on end?
I'm really close to getting fed up with the thing and I've been using BBs since 2004 or so...
Now I've been contemplating doing a public destruction of this currently worthless phone - it's basically now a fixed line phone because it can only survive for 3 hours or so without a power cord
I hope somebody will fix this some time soon!!

BlackBerry Z10 issue.

My new Z10 has been having some issues, one of which has already been solved. Now the phone will not immediately unlock when I press the top button or swipe the screen. It will take several attempts of swiping and pushing the button to unlock it. After unlocked, it ends up on the multitasking screen with an app such as BBM, browser, or another app opened. After this, the phone heats up, and the cpu load increases to 70-80% on the monitor for system. The issue has gotten worse today. I reloaded the software via BlackBerry Link, the issue has been happening less frequently but still occurred. The problem seems to occur more when I lock the phone and then unlock it right after when I forget something. The device is a Z10, STL-100-4. Manufactured in Canada factory #1. Can anyone help me? Any help would be greatly appreciated and I thank you on advance.

Blackberry Z10 Issues that need to be worked out!

I've had the Z10 for a few days now and I've loved the experience aside from a couple of weird issues that have been occuring on my device.
1. Swiping the lock screen
The lockscreen works great 80% of the time but there have been some instances when I've tried to swipe up from the bottom edge of the screen to unlock and it just doesn't read anything at all. I'll press the top button to put the phone to sleep and then push again to wake and I still am unable to unlock the phone. To fix this I've had to reboot the phone and then it will start working normally. This has happened on a number of occasions.
2. Hitting the 'Send' Key when Texting
I love the Z10 keyboard. It seems I am able to type much faster than any device previous though there is a bug here as well. Sometimes I will type out a whole message and when I try hitting 'Send' to complete the message it doesn't actually send! The key looks like it's being pressed down and everything. I can hit it more than once and it won't send the message. I've tried putting the phone to sleep and opening it again. I've tried closing the window and switching to another app then switching back and that doesnt work either. The only solution is to cancel the entire message (clear the field), exit to Text Messages by hitting back all the way, going back into the chosen text message conversation, and then retyping. This has worked for me.
I know it seems these issues are resolved through certain methods but I believe our users should not have to go through this type of trouble to alleviate such issues. Please take a look into these problems and include their resolution in the next software update. Thank you!

Yes, I mean if I want to write any thing in point then the only way is to write it all in one line, There is no option to replace the SEND key to be "New line" same like the previous blackberry operating systems.
Small things but Definitely enforce the people to switch forever from Blackberry to anything else

Blackberry Z10 Issues

Hello,
Before I get into the issues with my device, is there really no area where we can just directly email technical support? I dislike having to register an account or needing to have twitter just to ask a few questions (even being able to post on a forum without needing an account would be okay).
Anyways, a relative recently got a Blackberry Z10, and there are a couple things we're trying to find out.
1. When using the keyboard, is there any way to press backspace multiple times without it deleting everything? If I want to delete a few characeters/words, it can get really frustrating when the entire message is erased.
2. With the keyboards on other cellphones I've had, if uppercase is selected, all the letters are uppercase, and if lowercase is selected, all the letters are shown in lowercase. With the Blackberry Z10, all letters are in uppercase regardless of which case it is actually in. Is there a way it can do as I've described above so it's less confusing?

Predictive text uses the space bar area on the Z10 keyboard to suggest a full word, when it disagrees with the word you have typed. Often this is useful. Frequently, however, I intend the word I have typed, so how does one move the cursor to leave a space and type the next word? I can't figure it out. If I start typing the next word, the keyboard will go back to spacebar but the next word is added without a space beside the previous one. Is there anyway to override the suggested word so that the space bar is available?

New (Early 2009) 17" MBP WiFi Issues So Far?

I have owned one of these beauties for three days now. Thus far, I have had to disable and re-enable WiFi on exactly as many occasions. I have no idea why - I'm ~12 ft. away from the closet where my Cisco 877 router (dual radios/antennas) resides and signal strength absolutely is not in question.
Also, I run a WiFi monitoring app on my Vista box and after approx five minutes I've typically picked up snippets from at least a dozen networks (apparently even the old fogies in my neighborhood are online!). I've tried a couple of different WiFi monitoring apps on OS X and the only networks detected are my own and the immediately adjacent neighbor's network. So I infer that reception is nowhere near as good in this aluminum case as compared to a typical plastic case. This bums me out for several reasons, one of them being that I have one neighbor in particular whose AP constantly jumps around and so I constantly have to manually move my own AP to a new channel to get away from them. It ***** but it works. But with the MBP, I can't seem to pick up their signal so I can't tell what freq their on (without kicking of the Vista box, which is not something I want to have to do every time I suspect interference).
So I'm just opening up this thread for discussion. Hopefully some others with the new 17" will share their experiences in the coming days or even weeks...

My only issue at this point seems to be that following a reboot, I have to manually disable and re-enable the WiFi NIC to get joined into my home network (about 80% of the time, anyway). It frustrates me to no end when I have to do things manually to get a machine up and running - it's one of the reasons I finally left Microsoft in the dust. But I have not experienced some of the other early flakiness that was the catalyst for this thread.
Incidentally, the reception as compared to a non-aluminum case is perfectly obvious. Too bad they didn't find a way to address this in the design. Hopefully in future revisions they will...

My several issues so far with Acrobat Pro DC

This update has resulted in a LOT of added time to things I do daily. Below is a list of my issues
When using a custom stamp, once I stamp, the stamp tool isn't active and I have to select the stamp I was using AGAIN.
When selecting stamps I have placed on the page, which doesn't seem to function as one might expect, it seems to function more like text selection, and then want to align them, the align option is greyed out.
The selection of objects is awful!!!! If I click an object, then shift click to select another one, it selects all the TEXT on the page, NOT my stamps.
I can't copy a selected object by holding the alt key and dragging the object like I could in Acrobat Pro XI
Holding Shift when moving an object doesn't lock vertical movement
Is there a way to roll back to Acrobat Pro XI, this release is awful!!!!!!!

I have several more issues:
a) How do you change the background color to a darker tone? Doing a lot of print stuff for clients from the health/medical sector which are mostly white colored leaves me almost unable to see where the pages end and the light background starts.
b) Keyboard shortcut cmd+w just closes the document but leaves the weird summary page open. Does anybody know how many documents I open and close per day and that I now have to close that page every damn single time again and again?
c) As mentioned in several other posts: I'd really appreciate global settings for that tool panel (to go away!) and other panels (page overview).
Damn you, Adobe.
