Z10 keeps disconnecting from home wifi network

I just switched from a Samsung Galaxy to a BlackBerry Z10 a couple of days ago and I am having trouble with my home wifi. The Galaxy never had issues with it and stayed on constantly but the Z10 connects for a few minutes and then disconnects again and won't re-connect unless I reboot the router. I made sure I had the latest firmware on the router and updated the Z10 software as well. Apparently there is some setting on my wifi that was ok for the Galaxy but not ok for the Z10 and I hope someone can help me figure it out. Nothing else is using the wifi and the signal strength is very good.
What happens:
The phone connects successfully to the wifi. I open the browser and go through a few pages and then suddenly a page won't load at all. Sometimes the phone says it is still connected to the wifi and sometimes it sends me a message saying that the network has limited access to some websites. Sometimes it will instead switch to 4G. It doesn't only happen when I use the browser. Sometimes I am not using anything on it at all but just look at it and see it has switched to 4G.
I go into the settings and I see that it says my wifi network is disabled. I enable it again and confirm all the settings are fine and try to connect. Sometimes it goes through three attempts and then gives up. Sometimes it only tries once and gives me a message that it is unable to authenticate against the network and that I should verify network security settings and try again. No matter how many times I try, it does not connect until I log in to my router and reboot that. Then it connects immediately without my having to do anything.
So I am pretty sure this means a problem with my router settings.
I am using WPA/WPA2 - Personal security and confirmed that setting and the password on the Z10 are correct.
On the Z10, "Auto Obtain IP" is on.
I always have trouble with network stuff and it means little to me so, if anyone knows what is going on, please don't give me technical jargon! If you need more info, I will provide.
Thanks! I don't want to have to take it back but if it won't work for me, I might have to get another Samsung instead.

An update, in case anyone else is experiencing anything similar ...
After troubleshooting with various technicians at various companies, it appears the problem was actually a faulty router. I don't understand why my Samsung had no issues with it (or my laptop) but when I replaced it with another router I had kicking around, the BlackBerry had no problem connecting and it has been about three hours so far without disconnecting at all.
I suppose I'll come back here if the problem recurs but, in the meantime it appears to be just one of those weird things. So I guess the moral is to try everything, even if you don't think it could possibly be the cause, because you just never know.

  • Why does my mac keep disconnecting from my Wifi?

After downloading Yosemite, my computer (macbook pro) keeps disconnecting my home wifi.  I had no problems with my wifi before and my roommates have no problems with it still (they do not have macs).  This is only happening at home though, when I go anywhere else, my wifi stays connected.  I have tried deleting/forgetting my wifi network and reconnecting, restarting my computer, i searched through my settings but I don't know what to do. It disconnects like every two minutes. When it disconnects and i go to reconnect, the wifi is still there and has full bars, my computer just doesn't stay connected to it.  If anyone has any idea what to do that would be awesome!

    Hey sydthekyd5,
Thanks for the question. I understand that you are experiencing issues with your home Wi-Fi network. Check out the following resource for relevant information regarding your symptoms:
Wi-Fi: How to troubleshoot Wi-Fi connectivity - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202222
Symptom: The network connection drops unexpectedly
    - Your Mac may not not stay connected to your Wi-Fi network reliably.
    - Your Mac may stop accessing the Internet during use.
    Solution
Use these steps if your computer disconnects from its Wi-Fi network unexpectedly.
    1. Check your range to the Wi-Fi router and reduce the effect of interference.
If your computer is too far from your Wi-Fi router or your environment has too much Wi-Fi interference, then your computer may not detect the Wi-Fi network properly. The easiest way to check for range limits with your Wi-Fi network is to move your computer or your Wi-Fi router closer together and make sure that there are no obstructions (such as walls, cabinets, and so forth) between the router and your computer.
See Potential sources of wireless interference for more information about interference and solutions.
    2. Try connecting to a different Wi-Fi network. If your computer works fine when connected to a different Wi-Fi network, then the issue may be related to your network router or ISP. In that case, contact the manufacturer of your router or your ISP.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

Why does my computer keep disconnecting from my wifi?

Some users with various Wi-Fi problems have reported that they were given the following instructions by Apple Support, sometimes with success. After completing the procedure, you'll have to recreate all your settings in the Networkpreference pane. Make sure you know how to do that before you begin. Taking screenshots of the preference pane may be helpful.
    Step 1
    Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
    Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item named "SystemConfiguration" selected. Move the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator password. Reboot and recreate the network settings.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combinationcommand-C. In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
    Step 2
    Reset the System Management Controller.
    Step 3
    Reset the PRAM.

  • PC keeps disconnecting from home hub.

Got a very annoying problem, for some reason my computer keeps disconnecting from my home hub. Its got much worse recently and I have no clue what is doing it. Sometimes it can stay disconnected for a couple of hours and when you finally get the connection back it says it cant connect to the Internet. Also my network adaptor cant find my hub but it will find my neighbours even though the hub is just down the stairs from my PC. Signal it good-excellent. There are 2 other computers using the same hub but the are totally unaffected by this.
    Would really appreciate some help.

from your comments I assume you are using wifi
you can try downloading inssider3 (istumbler if MAC) and then run it. This will show the broadcasting networks round about you and their channels including your own. If you then enter your router and change your wireless channel to a free or less congested channel.

  • ATV3 after 5.1 upgrade keeps disconnecting from home sharing

    Hello,
I have had my setup now for about 6 months without any issues.  I have an ATV3 connecting to iTunes home sharing on Win7 64bit.  The Win7 is directly connected to my router via Gbit hardwired network.  The ATV is connected over wireless 802.11n to the same router.  The router is a D-link, DIR-655 I think.  I upgraded to 5.1 on Fri, when the problems arose.  When I start to watch a movie, it will disconnect after a period time (between secs and mins).  I need to wait a few secs, then the computer will be listed again and I can select the movie and play.  After a period of time, same thing.  This keeps happening over and over again.  I was running the latest 10.6.x iTunes on the Win7 box.  I tried upgrading to 10.7, and same thing.  I have rebooted everything multiple times (ATV3, router, Win7 box).  Please help, getting really frustrated with it.
    Thanks,
    Mark

    Hi Mark,
Should be quite staright forward. First download the ver 5.02 for the ATV. idownloadblog is a good place. Once done open iTunes and plug the ATV in to to your mac using a micro USB. Once connected plug in your power cable. If the ATV does not show up in your devices press Menu and Play together on the ATV remote. It should now be showing in devices. Hightlight the ATV in devices then hold down the ALT key and click on restore. You should now have an option box come up were you can select the file you downloaded. Choose file click ok and follow the on screen prompts. Once it says restore complete you should be ready to go. Good luck.
    Regards
    Mark

  • IOS6 on iphone 4S. My phone keeps disconnecting from my wifi. I have to input the password each time. The only way i can keep wifi connected is to disable cellular data....what's with this????!!!!!

I downloaded IOS6. The next day my iphone was not connecting to wifi. I reset network connections...put in my password and voila it worked!....But then it dosconnected again..and again...and again....my wifes iphone 4 is not having this problem and she also installed IOS6. The only way I can stay connected to wifi is if i disable my cellular data. What is going on???...Anyone?......

Is it a BT Yahoo account? If so, there have been quite a few threads about Yahoo constantly rejecting passwords, with no clear fix.
That said, I did see someone post that they'd resolved the problem by eliminating any capital letters from the password. After that it stopped asking for passwords and started working, apparently. One or two others tried the 'fix' and seemed to have the same success. At least they haven't come back to say it had gone wrong again.

  • My iphone 5s keeps changing time on its own and keeps disconnecting from the wifi and cellular data. All other devices are connected and working. Is it a virus?

What can i do to fix it? My husband suggests I reset my phone but I'm afraid my data will be wiped off an that would be of total waste if the problem doesn't even get solved. Your help would be much appreciated!

There is no known malware capable of infecting an iPhone that has not been jailbroken (ie, hacked to allow apps from outside the App Store). If you have jailbroken it, you have exposed yourself to malware, and should restore the phone to factory defaults, without restoring a backup. All data will be lost, but that is unavoidable.
Most likely, you haven't jailbroken it, in which case you don't have to worry about malware. In that case, it's hard to say what's going on, but there are some things you can try.
First, try resetting your device. Press and hold both the home button and the sleep/wake button for about 10 seconds, until the screen turns off. Ignore the slider that will appear. Release the buttons, then press and hold the sleep/wake button until the Apple logo appears. This is the equivalent of a reboot, and should not affect your data or apps.
If that doesn't help, try restoring your device from backups, and if that doesn't help, restore it to factory settings (ie, do not restore a backup). See:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1414
If none of that helps, the issue is caused by some kind of hardware problem, and the device will need to be repaired or (more likely) replaced.

  • Connect to a network printer for air print, after disconnect from the wifi iphone keep pop up a message saying the printer is offline. How do I disable this annoying message?

Connect to a network printer for air print, after disconnect from the wifi iphone keep pop up a message saying the printer is offline. How do I disable this annoying message?

    Hey ronniefai,
Thanks for the question. I understand you are receiving a prompt that your printer is offline. This may be due to a printing job that is currently in the queue. Are you able to see the print summary when following these steps?:
    Viewing the Print Summary
You can view the Print Summary by double-tapping the Home button and swiping to the right to reveal Printer Center. Then tap Print Center.
Note: Print Center is available only while printing is in progress.
    via AirPrint Basics
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4356
If so, see if you can cancel the job. If not, what happens when you re-connect to the network that the printer is on?
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • My iPad2 no longer connects to my home wifi network but there is no problem connecting to other saved wifi networks. Currently using iOS8.0.2. with storage capacity of 12.2Gb but only 147Mb free. Disconnecting the router and rebooting the iPad worked

My iPad2 no longer connects to my home wifi network but there is no problem connecting to other saved wifi networks. Currently using iOS8.0.2. with storage capacity of 12.2Gb but only 147Mb free. Disconnecting the router and rebooting the iPad worked briefly as a temporary fix but not anymore

    You could try this
Temporarily disable security on your home network
    See if the iPad connects
If it does then reset the security - with the same or different password

  • HP Photosmart Premium C310a printer keeps disconnecting from my network.

My HP Photosmart Premium C310a printer keeps disconnecting from my network. I have tried disconnecting my Firewall and AVG virus software, all to no avail. Can anyone help?

This is an issue I have seen multiple times, and telling people to check their network settings, or to fix wireless settings does NOT address the root cause of the problem.   For those who are English-impared, here is a very clear explanation of what is going on:
The printer is REMOVED from devices and printers, seemingly at random.    This is NOT a problem with "The printer is not printing", where fixing the network or resetting IP addresses will fix it.   The printer is GONE, and needs to be added again.
I know networking, and at no time should a loss of connection cause the printer to just be removed from Printers and Faxes, Printers, or anything like that.    If the connection is lost, the connection is lost, but the printer SHOULD still be set up in Windows, just pointing at the wrong place(if the IP address has been changed).
I suspect that it is more likely that the HP Update software is the culprit, and will test that theory today with a customer who has this problem.    It also seems to be limited to the HP Photosmart line of printers, since the Officerjet line does not seem affected by the bug.

  • Can an older Round Airport Extreme and Airport Express be used on my home WIFI network?

I recently upgraded my Macbook Pro to a newer one because I was having problems with the older one getting on my home WIFI network.  It had been dropped, but had continued working without any hiccups for five or six months.  Suddenly it won't go online.  It said there was no WIFI hardwae installed.  I suspect that the WIFI antenna connection between the main bdy and the display failed.  Repair options at the Apple Store were iffy, so I just baought the new one.  My Time Machine backup smoothly cloned my old machine onto the new one.
In the "when it rains it pours" category, my Airport Extreme also failed at the same time I began having problems with the old laptop.  Suspecting the hardware was the problem after checking with my ISP, I purchased a new Airport Express at Best Buy.  Using it, I got my WIFI network back up and running.  That's why I figured there was a problem with the older Airport Extreme.  The Airport Extreme was replaced by an Apple Genius at the store, when I purchased the new laptop.  Putting my Home WIFI network back together with the new AE, went fine, but it turned up another problem.  I use an older (pre-N speed) Airport Express to link a YAMAHA digital piano wirelessly to my WIFI.  It can go online directly and download music.  I can also push my iTunes wirelessly through the piano's amplifier and speakers for great sounding stereo.  The problem is my new AE won't recognize my older Airport Express.  I tryied downloading the Airport Utility v. 5.6 as suggested online, but It still won't find the Airport Express hooked up to the piano.
Is there any way to update my earlier Airport Express and also an older Airport Extreme (round)?  The Airport Utility v.5.6 won't recognize them and initialize them.  Any ideas?  I repurposed the new Airport Express I bought to seerve my printer, allowing me to disconnect the USB cable from my iMac.  That's working fine, except my HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 now won't give me two sided printing anymore.  It always something!
    Network consists of:
20" Mid 2007 iMac running Mac OS Lion 10.7.4
New 15" MacBook Pro running Mac OS Lion 10.7.4
HP Officejet Pro 8500 All-in-one Printer
New Airport Extreme attached to DSL Modem
New Airport Express wirelessly attaching my Printer to the network
Old Airport Express (A/B/G) connecting my Yamaha Digital piano (NOT WORKING)
Old Airport Extreme (round) (NOT WORKING)

    Bob,
Thanks for your help.  At this point, I'm seriously considering replacing the older "g" AX with a new "n" model.  For whatever reason, each time I've tried to bring the ols AX bcak online in my network, it only managed to screw up my network.  Using the Airport Utility 5.6 for Lion, I was able to get a green light on the AX, but it still would not go online from my Yamaha digital piano control panel, like it always did before.
Using AUtil 6.0, everything else works, and I'm assuming that setup with a new "n" speed AX, my piano will be able to get back onlune, too.  When I originally set up the AX to link the piano to my WIFI network, I had very little trouble getting it setup.  YAMAHA didn't list the Apple AX in it's list of compatible wireless routers/adapters, but I saw no reason that it wouldn't work.  As I said it was a reasonably easy setup the first time, and it has worked for several years with no problems.
It's not the cost of buying the new AX that bugs me, it's the fact that I can't figure out why it won't work now when it did before.  It was working fine with my old AE based WIFI network, even after upgrading the my computers to the Lion OS.  I used to be reasonably savvy with Apple technology, having spent the last 15 years of my teaching career (1987-2001) as the tech liason for the schools where I worked, supporting first Apple II's, then Macs, and networked buildings.  After eleven years of retirement, I find it harder and harder to keep up as the technology just keeps evolving.  I'm trying, but it's not easy!  Any and all help is appreciated!
