  • Issues syncing local calendar besides active iCloud

    Hello,
i recently upgraded to 10.8 and iTunes 11.
Since my upgrade to 10.8 i used the following setup to have my calendars in sync on my Mac and my iPhone:
I used one calendar in iCloud to sync my most recent dates and events. I had another (but local) calendar used as some kind of archive, where i moved older and expired events to. This calendar is only set as local, as i don't want all those old dates in iCloud.
That local calendar got synced to my iPhone everytime i plugged my iPhone to the computer.
This setup worked like a charme for several months.
With 10.8 and iTunes 11, i'm not able to activate that local calendar for syncing with my iPhone, as there is no option anymore to.
Any hints how i could get my local calendar again on the iPhone besides adding the local calendar to iCloud also?!
    All Best.

    Does anybody got an idea?!

  • Outlook Sync (Contacts/Calendar) Issues - Progress today........

    Folks,
I posted another earlier discussion on this topic over the weekend, but since I got my iPhone on Friday, I have probably burned about 20 hours working trying to figure out why I cannot sync my calendar and contacts from Office 2003 "OR" 2007 into my iPhone. When I started this process, 584 of my 1310 contacts did sync, I had NO luck on getting any of calendar items to sync.
Today we resolved the Contact issue!!! Still working on the calendar issues and if anyone has any further ideas, I am open to it, but it appears for both the contacts and calendar issues, I had corrupt data. You dont know it until encounter it this way.
Here is what you need to do in order to get the contacts to sync, it worked for me, hopefully it will work for many after me:
    1. Export "ALL" of your contacts to a .CSV (Comma Separated Value for Windows) file. Just export them to your desktop or somewhere easy to find them. As an extra safety net to ensure you dont lose your contacts, back them up also to a .XLS file as well as a .PST file.
    2. Delete "ALL" your contacts out of Outlook. Sync Outlook, especially if your like me and have your contacts and calendar on a corporate exchange server. Be sure you clear your iPhone so there is no contacts on it.
    3. Import the .CSV file to a VCARD file, sync to your coporate server, sync your iTunes and you should now see all your contacts.
Again, it worked for me and hopefully it works for you.
    Good Luck!!

    Everyone is waiting for this.
Right now you cannot sync locally between your phone and your desktop. You are forced to upload your contacts to another company's server (read "the cloud") and then download them from whatever device you didn't upload them from.
Still waiting for this fix please.

  • Provisioning Calendar to a user causes them to lose their local calendar

    Hi,
Does anyone know of a workaround for the following situation?
    - After provisioning Calendar to a user who previously was using an Oracle email account through the Connector, when opening up the existing profile in Outlook (after entering the Calendar server details) their previous local Calendar, Tasks, Notes and Contacts are lost.
    - I realise that you can export them to a pst file but that has to be done manually and is not a realistic solution for us since we have a large number of users in this situation (i.e. we would require an automated fix).
Yay or nay woud suffice :)
    Cheers,
    Damian

Surprisingly, this morning all calendars showed up in my iPhone. Apparently there is a delay.
But now there is another issue with the error:
"The server responded with an error.
Access to “event from years ago” in “the second added calendar” in account “local” is not permitted.
    The server responded:
    “403” to operation CalDAVWriteEntityQueueableOperation."
[Ignore] [Try Again] [Revert to Server]
Each event starting with the beginning of that calendar (years ago) seems to generate an error. It will take a day to click on Ignore for all those events.
Will ask this in a new thread. For now the issue this thread is about is solved, thank you. I also updated my profile, except for my iPad. No 'edit' option next to that one. Strange.

  • How to migrate a local calendar to a WebDAV server?

Because I do not like to sync using iCloud I installed Maverick Server to have a local server for my calendars. The other devices in my home can then connect to it. I found it easy to set up using this webpage and it works with a test calendar. I add something in iCal with my MacBook and seconds later it appears on my iPad.
But I am puzzled on how to migrate my local calendars in iCal to the server. I tried to export them to the desktop and then import them into the server calendar I see in iCal. Then iCal gives this warning:
Should I proceed? I do not want to damage 12 years of iCalendar data. I have backups, but preventing a mess is always easier.

  • Native Contacts and Calendar Issues

I can't seem to find my way around this. When I set up an appointment using the PlayBook Local calendar I can't send an invite to other attendees, I receive a message saying the account does not have an associated email account. I have a Gmail and Hotmail account connected to my PlayBook so I'm unsure what it's asking for. When I set an appointment using my gmail account I don't even have an attendee option. The other issue is that when I accept a Facebook event it doesn't recognize the other attendees as people in my contacts. This means they may show up as a person I'm meeting that day but if I select them I can't see any future meetings. After changing my FaceBook email from an old address to my current email I no longer can see any FaceBook events on my PlayBook, which is even more frustrating than the other issues.
With the native contacts app I put in my own information and my 2 email accounts and LinkedIn accout were all recognized and linked, however my Facebook and Twitter acounts were not found. Furthermore, I can not add those accounts to my contact card manually. I've had similar issues not being able to manually add a LinkedIn account to a contacts information. Is this a glitch or something I'm doing wrong?

  • How to share an icloud calendar without sharing local calendars

I have created an icloud calendar for family use.  I want us to be able to view/edit it in the Calendar app on our macs and on our ios devices. But we don't want our local (business and school) calendars uploaded to icloud. Only one of us have upgraded to Yosemite, and none of us to ios8, as we don't like the new interface. We are therefore mostly using ios7 and Mavericks, though one is using 10.6 still and another is a google phone user.  Notwithstanding the last two oddities, it seems to be impossible to find a solution, even without the Calendar integration.
Does anybody have a solution for this no doubt common situation?

    Hi Bill,
    Referencing iCloud: Calendar sharing overview
If the other shares their iCloud calendar as public, you can add it to your Calendar without using iCloud, but you can only view it, no edits.
So here the answer is Yes.
Public calendars can be shared with anyone. To access public calendars, visitors need to use Calendar (or iCal with OS X v10.7.5) on a Mac, Microsoft Outlook on a Windows computer, or any other app that supports the iCalendar file format.
A public calendar can’t be edited by anyone but the calendar owner (the creator).
If you need to be able to edit the Calendar, then you need to have iCloud Calendar enabled.
Private calendars can be shared with other iCloud users.
As the owner (creator) of a shared calendar, you assign edit privileges to the invitees to control who can modify the calendar.
You stated earlier, "When you configure the connection to iCloud you only have the option to merge all your calendars into one on iCloud."
That is not what happened for me. Each local calendar got "merged" with the same calendar on iCloud but each stayed separate.  If some of the local calendars didn't exist on iCloud, then they were duplicated on iCloud.  So for example, Home and Work local calendars became Home and Work iCloud calendars.
iCloud: Using iCloud Calendars with Calendar and iCal - Apple Support
If you have local calendars, they are merged with iCloud when you set up iCloud Calendar.
That doesn't say they are merged into one big calendar.
The calendars created in iCloud are not shared by default. You need to manually share the ones you want to share.  So to view someone else's shared calendar, you do not need to share your own.
iCloud: Share a calendar with others
If when setting up iCloud calendars you get calendars on iCloud you do not want there, you can delete them from iCloud.
    iCloud: Delete a calendar
Hope that helps.  If not, please contact support for help clearing this up.
    Take care,
    Nubz

  • How can i sync a CalDav google calendar with my local calendar in iCal?

    Hi,
I have a google calendar as CalDav-account in my iCal. It works perfect. Now i'd like to sync the google calendar with my local calendar, without copy/paste for every date. Ist there any possibility?

I just discovered that when you set up CalDAV delegate accounts in iCal, you are really moving google calendars into iCal, not the other way around. So for everything to sync up you must enter events in the delegate calendars in iCal, not in your original iCal calendars.

  • How do I move a calendar from iCloud back to a local calendar?

I've got a number of calendars that are stored in iCloud.
Now I would like to make them local calendars again, i.e., make them appear in the category "ON MY MAC".
How can I do that? (without loosing any dates)
    TIA,
    Gabriel.

Try a new post in the iCloud forum where they handle such things.

  • IPhone calendar appointments set to local calendar, and need to switch to exchange calendar. Have to edit each appointment one at a time and change to exchange calendar. Is there any method to edit all appoints in my calendar at once?

iPhone calendar appointments set to local calendar, and need
to switch to exchange calendar. Have to edit each appointment one at a time and
change to exchange calendar. Is there any method to edit all appoints in my
calendar at once and change the calendar setting?

Not sure this will work but if you go into the Keyboard preferences, then click the Keyboad Shortcuts tab, and then the '+', you can add your own shortcuts for any application.  I am not sure what happens if you try to override an existing shortcut since I haven't tried using this.
    Edit/Update:
Probably against my better judgement I'll also throw this out there - there's an Unsanity haxie called Menumaster which might also allow you to do what you want.  Against my better judgement because personally I stay clear of haxies.  It's (all haxies) probably almost certain to break in Lion.  They always do with each major release.

  • Local calendars group disappeared - problem with saving in the local calendars group

Hello, I have been working with calendars. I wanted to add a new calendar to the iCloud calendars group or to local calendars ("On my iPhone").
I found that when I am switching off the iCloud for calendars, the iCloud calendar group disappears and don't create the local storage ("On my iPhone"). I did exactly the same on the iPhone 4S, and it created the local group. I don't know why it is different on iPhone 5, especially as I was using iOS 7.1 on both.
Has anyone else had this problem before? Do you know how to restore my calendar to the local storage?
    Thanks for help.

    Solved this:
Turns out that we now require at least "List" permissions for "Everyone" for the root of the partition where the User profiles reside.
This was not the case on our previous images.
    Hopes this helps someone else.

  • Any way start over from scratch to fix iCloud calendar issues in Outlook 2010?

I'm suddenly having perplexing iCloud calendar issues in Outlook.  Forget the hundreds and hundreds of duplicate entries for birthdays and holidays, and the thousands of duplicate contacts - I've just been manually deleting them from Outlook.  I also tried manually deleted iCloud files from iCloud on outlook, but this does not seem to affect what is on iCloud itself.  I've now got an issue where if I add an appointment on my iPhone, it appears on Icloud but not in Outlook 2010 even though the iPhone calendar is displayed in Outlook. iPad appointments show up on iPhone, iCloud and Outlook.  iCloud entered appointments show up on iPhone, and iPad and Outlook.  Of course it is maddening that there is a separate calendar for each (there is only one of me, so why a separate calendar in Outlook  for every source is beyond me).  How can I get my iPhone to start showing up again in Outlook?  Another issue is that now every time I click on calendar in Outlook, it takes 2-3 minutes to display the calendar because iCloud seems to be syncing. I'm assuming this is because there a so many duplicates.  I've removed Icloud from Outlook. Ran a repair on Outlook.  Uninstalled iCloud. Reinstalled.  Re-added to outlook., but the issue is never fixed.  I'm considering make a brand new Apple ID and abandoning my current one, but that means I have to change my iPad, iCloud, iPhone, family iPhones, Outlook, readd credit card, reload all of the data.  That's a pain.  I sure would be nice to have a simple way of editing the iCloud data and adding devices (and having a more descriptive source name would be even better).

I found sync options under "info"
I was looking to sync the information from the phone back into outlook, It looks like these options will sync what is on outlook into the phone..
I wanted to export from the phone (which has all of the old appointments and updated contacts) , back into outlook
    Any other thoughts?
    Thanks

  • ICal - iPhone sync. Local calendar not showing up in iTunes list of available calendars, only Exchange calendars.

iTunes only shows Exchange-calendars in the list where you can choose which calendars (we're talking about "calendars", not "accounts") you want to synchronize. If I add a local calendar in iCal, I can not choose it to synchronize with my iPhone. It simply doesn't show up in the list of available calendars. How does iTunes compile this list of available Calendars to synchronize?

    Hi Zachary,
Here is an article I'd suggest to troubleshoot this situation:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538
You may only need to go through the steps with one device and have it resolve for the others.

  • Calendar issues - bugs or do I misunderstand how it should work?

I'm having a few calendar issues that seem like bugs. I have the latest release installed but I don't remember seeing these problems before updating. I could be wrong though - my memory ain't what it used to be.
On the calendar week view, if I swipe to scroll down to see the afternoon, I can't swipe back up again. I have to swipe left or right to view a different week before it'll let me view the morning.
Also, if I go to the month view and open a particular day with an event. If I then swipe on the bottom to go backwards, it shrinks the card and lets me choose another open app (home view?). Instead I would have expected it to return to the previous screen?
Another problem; I had to tap an event in the week view about five times before it opened the day view. Poor detection?
Do these sound like bugs? I've only had my Pre for a few days so I'm still learning. Thanks

    Hello and welcome to the forums;
Going back and forth between morning and afternoon is working fine for me, how many calendars do you have and what kind are they (yahoo, gmail, etc)?
Going to month view, then tapping on a day and using the back gesture does put you into card mode, because you have not entered a new level of menu, just a different view. If you were to go into a specific event, then you could back gesture to the previous view, but going between day/week/month is accomplished only with the selection buttons at the bottom of the screen.
Instead of trying to tap a particular event from week view, have you tried just tapping on the date at the top? or somewhere else on the column for that particular day? Do you see the "ripple" on the screen showing that it recognized a screen tap?
    Hope this helps,

  • How to create local calendar?

At times of Snow Leopard I had a local calendar and several calendars from my Exchange account.
At that time I created Automator-based processes and entered them to my local calendar to be executed at specific intervals.
After first syncing with MobileMe and then migrating to iCloud, my local calendar dissappeared and the "process" schedules have been moved to MobileMe and then iCloud.
However, those process schedules can only be executed on my iMac and I DONT WANT them to be synced to my other devices (MacBook, iPhone).
So I need my local calendar back.
How can I create a local calendar on my iMac?
    Thanks for all hints...
    Matt

    Roger, you made my day!
I did miss the command "New Calendar" in the "File" menu (or however those menus are called in english. have a german OS).
Instead, I always tried to create a new local calendar via the  "Account" settings - which was absolutely stupid!
However, when exporting those Automator based entries and trying to re-import them into my local calendar, the "possibly dangerous" Automator actions have been removed.
But I could open those (recurring) entry in edit mode and just "switch" it to my local calendar without losing any information.
Thank you so much for your hint, which lead me to the right way!
    Matt
