Z10 Not connecting to Link

I really need help please.
I am unable to Sync my Z10 device using link.
Once connected to USB it reads the device fine. A couple of second in to the Sync process the device is gone and Link showing unable to connect to device.
I am also unable to view or see any files/folders from my Z10 on my computer file browser.
I am using Windows & at the moment. This al started a couple weeks ago when I updated my link software to the new version and also did my Z10 devise OS update.

Hello LenMyb.
Another question, since your Z10 upgraded to the latest version of the software, went for several days.
They need to go to control panel then to device manager and network adapters
What we look for is if you see the BlackBerry Controller does not have a problem.
They need to go to control panel, device manager, network adapters and look to be installed or to remove it to reinstall.

• Z10 Blackberry not connected to Link

My Blackberry link will not connect to my BB Z10 after I downloaded the new updated software 1.1.1.37. Worked before. Does not recognized any devise is connected. I wanted to connect my outlook calendar but it did not download the calendar either.
Fixes so far; I updated my phone from 10.1.0. 273 to 10.1.0.4181. Upgraded Link again to 1.1.1.41. Restarted both.  It is not the the issue in my device manager, as I checked that. Connected with UBS cable as it is getting power.
I wonder what it is?
CB

There is also a new version of Link available this week.. download, install and try it.
Link updated to v1.1.1.41 (Windows OS)

• Pointing out a bug with Z10 not connecting wirelessly to BBLink

After troubleshooting the following problem - BBLink does not recognize the Z10 wirelessly even though it is recognized by every thing else on the router's netowrk - I have discovered:
(1) it works the first time you connect the phone wirelessly with BBLink
(2) It does not connect to BBLink through wireless from then on.
(3) The ONLY way (I tested everything I could think of or look up in the forums*) to establish the connection again is to do a battery pull.
(4) Then the next time you try to establish a wireless connection to BBLink it does not connect (back to point 2 ...)
*I tried:
Rebooting computer
Rebooting phone
Rebooting wi-fi router
Restarting BBLink
Re-install / repair existing installation of BBLink
Removing my Z10 from BBLink and setting it up from scratch
Activating / deactivating / reactivating all options in BBLink
Changing every "Setting" and option on the Z10 in regardes to wi-fi connections and applications using wi-fi to connect to my computer (they all work properly; i.e. I can use wireless to access folders on my computer, as setup using BBLink)
Uninstalling BBLink (and using a third-party program to scrub all files and registry entries)
Clean install of BBlink

Are you saying that 802.11g cards were the first to support WPA?
Some disambiguation is needed. Speed is not the issue here, but WPA compatibility. I'm in the same boat. However, for about 6 months, my TiBook w/Original Airport Card did indeed connect using WPA (at 802.11b on a "b/g" network)...but no longer...others on these boards have had the same experience.

• Green ethernet short reach result in port not connecting(no Link)

Hi
I noticed problem with connection of a computer.
Same connection had worked without a problem before.
DHCP failed due to no connection resulting in windows7 assigning a IP address, no network
When inserting RJ45 the Green link led turned on for a brief moment.
Only got a 100Mbit FD connection after some jugglinng with rj45 in both ends.
In case of  oxid building over nigth
The cable is more than 10 meters.
A fluke network tester had problem connecting to ports with a 1 m cable.
This usually means autoneg problem or low voltage.
When I turned off green ethernet/short reach  for the switch(sg300-20) and  I got a 1000Mbit FD without a problem.
I have previously noted that the voltage on the transmitter from the switch is on the low side using a Fluke network tester.
I got around 0.5 V and I prefer much higher.
I guess turning green features on and trying to use a longer cable is to stretch the luck  a tad to much.

Thanks for the suggestions JMVP. I checked all the emacs on the network that could connect to the internet and they had the same settings as the emac server. I also performed the terminal command like you suggested and that did not work either.
What I ended up doing was using the Apple USB Ethernet adapter and some 3rd party drivers to get the emac server online. It's not really solving the problem of the port, but it's a quick fix for now.
Mahalo for everyone's help! If you guys think of anything else, please reply!

Hey hfvdw12,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
Thanks for the question.
Have you tried connecting to a different Wi-Fi network?  Or any free Wi-Fi hotspots?  Also have you tried power cycling the wireless router and then connecting.
I look forward to your reply.
Cheers.

• My gmail keeps saying its not connected on my Blackberry Z10

Recently thegmail on my Z10 has stopped the gmail connection - it does not allow emails through and when I check the systems button it tells me that gmail is not connected . sometimes it says there is no internet access when there is , other times it does not give any reason.
I tried turning the phone off and on and occasionally it starts working but not often. It seems worse than ever now since I downloaded the Blackberry update to my phone yeaterday.
Please help because if I cannot access my emails the Blackberry is not fit for purpose.

Hello
With a strong carrier network signal (e.g., not merely WiFi), I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):
1) Register HRT
KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with the wireless network
Please wait for one "registration" message to arrive to your Messages app (or otherwise be notified)
2) Reboot
Pre-BB10 Devices ONLY. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes.
BB10 Devices. Hold the top button down until the counter reaches zero. Wait for the device to be fully shut down (e.g., nothing at all displayed on the screen, no LED lights, etc.). Hold the top button until the red LED is lit. Wait through the full boot-up process. IF this fails, you can attempt the battery-pull method above, but it is normally NOT recommended unless nothing else works.
See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
Hopefully that will get things going again for you! If not, then you should try deleting and re-adding your configurations for the affected email accounts. Otherwise, you should contact your mobile service provider for formal support.
Good luck!

• Inconsistant Wi-Fi connection between Link & Z10

I cannot get BlackBerry Link to consistently connect to my Z10. After looking for ways to get it to connect last night I uninstalled/reinstalled Link but without making a connection, left the Z10 on charge overnight and this morning it's connected. However, after going to work and leaving the home Wi-Fi, now I'm back it's not connecting again. I have verified that the Z10 is on the network and plugged into a power source and I know that there are items to sync.
This is my 2nd Z10, the first one I had aways appeared in Link as being connected on the Wi-Fi, I don't recall changing any settings in the Z10 or Link to make this happen?
Have I missed something in Link to get it to scan the network for connected devices, any other suggestions?

Hey highstrike,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
Thanks for the question.
Are you able to transfer files through USB?  Also have you tried doing the Wi-Fi synchronization on a different computer?
We ultimately might need to gather logs from BlackBerry Link to find the exact error problem. I would suggest contacting your network service provider and ask to be transffered to BlackBerry so we can gather logs.
I look forward to your reply.
Cheers.

• I have a different Apple id on my PowerBook from that on my iMac and iPad. Photo Stream does not connect to my Powerbook. How do I change the Apple id in iCloud on my PowerBook? Will this link all 3 machines to PhotoStream?

I have a different Apple id on my PowerBook from that on my iMac and iPad. Photo Stream does not connect to my Powerbook. How do I change the Apple id in iCloud on my PowerBook? Will this link all 3 machines to PhotoStream?

You can't simply change the details.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your computer, you need to sign out of the account from your computer first, then sign back in using your updated details. (System Preferences > iCloud, click the sign out button)

• Secure link to itunes store failed computer not connected to internet tried ununininstalling everything to do with itunes no joy also error code coming up E0000225 anybody out there got any ideas

Secure link to itunes store failed, (computer not connected to internet tried uninstalling everything to do with itunes,no joy also errror code E0000225 appearing. Have turned off windows firewall and also my Bullguarg security settings. Can anybody out there please help me thanks.

Hi,
You could be right that the response to clicking on help is a symptom of an entirely separate issue, but nevertheless the secure link to itunes is definitely failed, and I am unable to log into Itunes on either PC.
I also noticed that even if I click on the link to create a whole new Apple ID, I cannot do that either, presumably because the secure link is not working.
After I noticed that there were weird things happening this morning, I did change my Apple ID password in the hope that this might resolve it, but it seemed to make it worse.  Now, all of my apple devices keep constantly prompting me for the apple ID password, and randomly either accepting it, or telling me it is wrong.  I know the password is correct because I can log onto the apple Manage My Apple ID screens in a web browser with it.
I was starting to think that this is an ISP issue (BT Broadband), but I have not seen anyone else posting with the same issue.  Does Apple use a different security protocol to everyone else?  I'm asking because all other secure services seem to be working fine, but anything related to apple that requires a secure connection or authentication is having issues.
I have also seen reference to making sure that Itunes is listed as an allowed program in Windows Firewall.  I cannot seem to do this because it says that my Windows firewall is being managed by McCafee.  I have checked the settings in McCafee, and it appears to me that Itunes, Bonjour, and many other apple programs have been granted "Full" access.  As said before in any case I have tried temporarily disabling the firewall and even this did not solve the problem.

• ATV & D-Link DIR-655 (Not connecting in N Mode)

Hopefully someone can explain this to me.
The D-Link DIR-655 does not connect to the ATV in N-mode, only in G.
I don't see anything in the ATV to force a N-mode connection.
Are these 2 unit compatible in N-Mode or do I have to have the new Airport Extreme unit to accomplish this.
Or is there a particular setting that the D-Link unit needs to have to accomplish this connection.
Looking forward to your replies.

do you have any other wireless devices that connect in "n" mode?
have you checked your router to make sure that "n" mode is enabled ?
i know in mine you can restrict it to "g" or "b and g" so maybe yours has something similar and "n" isn't activated.

• When I add a https link to quicklinks, when I click on it, the (:) after https does not go to the address bar and thus the link is not connected. This is happening for all quicklink bookmarks with https:

Question
When I add a https link to quicklinks, when I click on it, the (:) after https does not go to the address bar and thus the link is not connected. This is happening for all quicklink bookmarks with https: Is there a solution?

Try some basic troubleshooting.
Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode that turns off some settings, disables most add-ons (extensions and themes).
If Firefox is open, you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu:
*In Firefox 29.0 and above, click the menu button , click Help and select Restart with Add-ons Disabled.
*In previous Firefox versions, click on the Firefox button at the top left of the Firefox window and click on Help (or click on Help in the Menu bar, if you don't have a Firefox button) then click on Restart with Add-ons Disabled.
If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:
* On Windows: Hold the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
* On Mac: Hold the option key while starting Firefox.
* On Linux: Quit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox -safe-mode <br>(you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "Start in Safe Mode".<br>

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article to find the cause.
To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.
When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help others with the same problem.

Clicking on a link in an open email will not connect me to the site?

That is an Unsafe practice. What is shows YOU for the link is not necessarily where you will be sent when you click.
That is how spammers get malware onto your Mac.
It is tedious, but you should get in the habit of re-typing any links you need.

• TimeMachine won't create hard links for replacement drive if not connected

With TimeMachine, I backup two external drives (let's call them drive A and B). Recently, drive B broke and I restored the data on a replacement drive and gave the volume the same name as the broken one had. I made TimeMachine aware of the fact that this new drive corresponds to the old one by using the "tmutil -a associatedisk" command as described here: http://pondini.org/TM/B6.html
When TimeMachine started the next backup, it did not perform all full backup of the new drive, though still way more than it should. So far so god.
The problem is: if TimeMachine performs a backup while the new drive (the replacement of drive B) is not connected, it does not create the hard links for it. Drive A is not connected either, though hard links for it show up in the Backups.backupdb folder for this backup.
If the replacement drive is connected the next time, TimeMachine will perform a full backup of it ... most likely because the previous backup does not contain any hard links.
Is there a way how to fix this?

paninaro95 wrote:
(To run the command again is actually not necessary in my opinion as the man page for tmutil states that TimeMachine works with the UUID of the filesystem
Correct.
Et voilà 1: The first time, TimeMachine backed up only about 0.5 GB ... which is a fairly reasonable value that is likely due to the changes on the internal disk, not to my external replacement disk where about 170 GB are eligible to be backed up.
Yay!
FYI, there are ways to tell what was backed-up.  The log messages show how much was copied from each drive.  The widget in #A1 of Time Machine - Troubleshooting displays the backup messages from your logs.
In addition, see #A2 there for a couple of apps that will show the details -- which files were backed-up.
Et voilà 2: When TimeMachine performed the next backup while the external drive was not connected, the hard links for the external data were created in that backup.
Double yay!
To my understanding, I don't understand why renaming the drive makes a difference if TimeMachine uses the UUID of the filesystem.
So I guess there must be a bug somewhere as "tmutil associatedisk" should fix the connection -- no matter what the drive name is.
There must be some other connection, some vestige of the name left over somewhere.
I filed a bug report to Apple! :-)
Great!
