Z10 REBOOT AFTER BATTERY PULL QUESTION

I have an older Curve 8530. When I pull the battery or RESTART the unit after an app installation, it takes ~15 minutes for the unit to come back online.
Does the Z10 have the same limitation?

The example you cite (rebooting during NAV) is outside of the parameters you began with...I interpreted what you started with to be a "normal" reboot situation where I consider this new scenario to be abnormal (e.g., sudden unexplained reboot). Consequently, they cannot IMHO be compared.
In my experience, all of the "older" BB models had rather long reboot periods. As things have progressed, it has improved with faster memory, faster processors, etc. But of course that is perhaps also degraded by a larger and more complex OS.
The reality of our free marketplace is that there is a plethora of choices. From my experience, the Z10 is the best BB ever...fastest in all regards, best keyboard, etc. etc. etc. But, each individual must make their choices based on their unique requirement set. If you want a Droid, then by all means feel free to get one. I can share that I recently came off of a Droid, having both it and my Z10 in parallel for almost 2 months...and in that time, I really came to hate the Droid.
Good luck!

  • BB z10 stuck on security wipe in progress even after battery pull

    Hello,
Last night my z10 rang but i couldnt answer the call. the screen was no more responding. I was surprised because 10 mins earlier i had answered a call and all worked well... fast forward... tried restarting a few times, tried battery pull a few times still no solution so i did a backup and started restore factory settings from the latest blackberry link. this was the begining of the end.. i watched my phone display "security wipe in progress" lost patience after about 3 hrs and did a battery pull.. putting the battery back it shows the blackberry logo then goes right back to "security wipe in progress"... its been like that for another hour+ and now im at wits end
    pls help

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Pulling the battery during a WIPE is dangerous with any device. What is happening is things are being wiped from the BB to return it to (sort of) factory settings. Stopping that mid-way risks leaving things in a partially completed state, which can cause the device to be non-functional.
I've read about times when a WIPE can indeed take quite a long time, requiring considerable patience. Since you posted this yesterday, I am hoping that you allowed it to continue so that it could properly complete...please let us know.
    Thanks!

  • Lost media after battery pull

So, on Sunday my phone wouldn't connect to the network so I tried a battery pull.  When the phone came back on, it connected just fine, but all of my saved media (pictures, music, videos) was gone.  The media was all saved on the device and we use a BES at my office.  Any chance of recovering the lost media?  Phone seems to be working just fine--just don't have any pictures or videos left.  Thanks for any advice.

    Hi
Do another battery pull whilst powered on and leave the batterry out for a minute or 2.
Make sure that the folder/s with the media aren't hidden. Go through each folder - and Media and downloads and apps are the most obvious places and ensure "Show All" is ticked in the menu.
I presume you do regular back-ups as part of your firm's IT policy. You should be able to restore from a recent back-up with no fuss.

  • IPad keeps rebooting after battery run all the way down.

The battery in my ipad got run all the way down so I plugged it in to charge.   I got the icon with the red battery and the little lightning bolt so I thought it would charge if I left it overnight.
But after a few seconds of charging it goes to what looks like the bootup screen (the apple in the center of the screen).  It stays in that screen indefinitely.  I tried holding down home+sleep and it would go back to the battery charging screen but then try to reboot a few seconds later.
Any ideas what I should try next?

No. Just use your iPad and don't obsess about its battery. It will last for years.

Hello mynameischrissie and welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
Sorry to hear you're experiencing an issue with SMS on your device.
To clarify, are ALL SMS deleting from this contact or just older messages within the SMS chat?
Have you ever received an error your SIM card storage is full in regards to saving your SMS?
    Thanks!

  • Z10 freezes, switches off, requires battery pull

I have had my Z10 since July.  Initially every 3-4 days it would not respond and require a battery pull to start working.  After all the updates this has become frequent.  Now the machine locks up 3-4 times a day.
    Any suggestions!

What is happening is that your on-device battery meter is off-sync with the actual battery charge.
Connect to your OEM wall outlet battery charger and while still connected and powered on, remove the battery a minute to reboot. After reboot leave to fully charge to 100%.
This will reset the false charge reading. You may need to do perform this procedure 2-3 times.

  • Device will not Boot up after a battery pull.

Hi guys, today is my first time using this website and I also registered today so I am very much NEW here.
I live in Jamaica and my service provider is Digicel Jamaica. My phone is out of warranty by 6 months now as it was purchased 1.5 years ago from Digicel through my company that I was working for.
    I have a Torch 9860 with OS version 7.1.
Two months ago while charging the phone with the charger that was supplied from the manufacturer, i realised that the phone had become very hot and as such  i removed the charger and let it cool via removing the battery cover, at that point i realised that using the keypad to type messages the slightest tap of any letter resulted in that letter either not responding or it would give me multiples of the same letter , which prompted me to tap delete  which would either delete the whole word or sometimes just the letter. at other times, the keypad would work just fine. the battery also did not keep charge for more than a few minutes, and upon inspecting the battery realised it was swollen, as such I had it replaced with one purchased from my Dealer which solved the issue of not holding a charge, but the keypad was still behaving funny as previously explained above.
My major issue I am now facing is I did a battery Pull anf after replacing the battery, the Phone will not boot up, no blackberry logo with the load bar being displayed, the phone appears to be dead. the battery indicator light is blank even if the charger is connected. This occurred once  about a week ago and after several remove and replacing the battery it finally booted up and worked, but did another battery pull two days ago and it still will not power on.
Please Help, can you advise me if this is a new issue or what needs to be done. I am thinking as a last option to replace the entire board, but out here in Jamaica, that is a very costly option.
Thank you for taking the time to review this, any help or guidance or feedback will be greatly appreciated.

    Hello Jamaikhan
If this happened to you because your problem is that is nuked stay dead ...
I can relive through using programs like BBSACK to apply a Wipe
You must download the OS from your Blackberry 9860.

  • Slow reboot after 10.2.1.2977 update to Z10

    Hello,
The first reboot after updating to software release 10.2.1.2977 (OS 10.2.1.3247) is taking a very long time (just over 22 hours now). The boot screen showed 97% before I went to sleep last night, and has been at 98% since I woke up ~6hrs ago..
I'm a fairly new BB owner, and this is the first OS update I've done besides the one after I first got my z10 - but I'm assuming this isn't normal. Has this happened to anyone else? Does anyone have any idea what's going on, or have suggestions on what I should do?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Pat

No, it most definitely does NOT take anyway near that long to reboot; you should expect to wait about one minute usually (except immediately after an OS reload in which case a few minutes is normal).
If it's not completely rebooted yet, remove the battery for a few seconds then put it back in. If it's completely rebooted, you can either leave it for now or you can reset your phone. To do this, press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds until BlackBerry appears on the screen. Don't release the power button until you see BlackBerry, ignoring anything that appears before that.
    I hope that helps you.

  • Z10 Phone Ring Going Silent Until Battery Pull, and Sometimes Loosing Its Knowing Its ID Information

I had a number of instances where the phone would no longer ring. No ring, or notifications have been modified.
The temporay fix is to do a battery pull and allow a full reset.
I found this happens sometimes after installing and then uninstalling a downloaded program from Blackberry World formerly known as App World.  I also noticed this issue sometimes happening after updates have been installed.
The unfortunate part of this is if the Bluetooth earphone is not being used calls will be missed because the phone will be silent. I found there was no ring because I had messages and callers displayed during periods where I should have heard the phone ringing.
I also had issues where the phone lost the capability for it to know its ID. In this case the backup, or restore, and downloads will not respond. The fix is a battery pull.
I had one time where the battery pull did not fix it. I had to re-install the OS for the phone to become normal again.
    Jerry G.

Personally, I think this is a super deluxe great phone. I like everything about the Z10 from a user point of view. We have a number of these Z10 phones and love them. When the Q10 comes out, we may get a few to use as keyboard phones.
I am thinking the OS was not exactly ready for release. There are some important missing issues and bugs that I have been running in to. I cannot see during testing that these bugs did not come out because there are many users who are having them.

  • My 8330 turns on then 2 seconds after goes blank. Upgraded software and battery and still the screen goes blank after it goes to my home screen. Attached to this post is a video of the phone after I pull the battery and put it back in. I think it is still

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rY_WU8WadXE

Did you perform a battery pull afterwards?
With the phone POWERED ON, remove the battery for 15-30 seconds, then reinsert and wait for the phone to completely reboot.

  • 3gs reboots after 4mins on calls and shows battery dead then shows battery charged on restart any 1 have a fix please

3gs reboots after 4mins on calls and shows battery dead then shows battery charged on restart any 1 have a fix please

Thought it had worked but soon found out it had not.
after further days of trying finally, solved it for me Yesterday.
turned off notifications when locked, and bingo, wow.
i have not turned off iCloud but location services are also off.
best thing to do I found was keep checking your usage, settings, general, usage, and flip down to bottom, if the standby and usage are similar there is a problem, if there is a big difference then all is ok. Just keep turning things off and on until the difference is very apparent.
something on my phone was keeping the phone alive even when turned off, and I think this was the phone repeatedly trying to update continually.
to me this is definitely down to the iOS, my wife has exactly same phone and iOS but hers doesn't have any problem and the battery lasts for days.
the guy at the Genius Bar told me to restore the phone via iTunes, not iCloud. This is because iCloud remembers the exact info from your phone and simply reinstates it when you restore, and this includes the iOS too.
when I get home from holidays that's what I'll do, or wait for iOS 8 in few weeks. But I'm so pleased I finally made it work, I was beginning to think ditch the phone and buy Samsung.
anyway anyone out there please try my final solution and let me know if it works for you?

  • Battery Pull or Reboot Program/option ?

Is there a "Battery Pull" or "reboot" program?
I DID in fact research it but everything goes towards the task killer, which I did download it....
    Thanks again!

Trying to have it reboot to shut down all applications not in use and to refresh the device.
My blackberry storm had a "battery pull" program I downloaded from App World.
It just is a debation. I have never used it. Check out the link below:

I have read though that you don't need task killer if you are running on 2.2

  • Z10 review after 3 months

dear all, had Z10 for 3 months. so far i can say that despite the big problems this is so far the best device i ever had. don't have it anymore because i decided to RMA it. here few pros and cons
    pros:
superb display - visible even in the bright sun.
    intuitive controls
perfect productivity tool - BB hub is a perfect thing
    design
    blackberry link
    BBM
    cons:
battery life - recharging by normal usage (as a productivity tool) every day is way too much. since i am often on the road, i've purchased the portable battery for recharge
mediocre support! - if you've got a problem, BB does not give a $h!t to help, even not on this forum!
    reasons for RMA:
    1. one pixel in the middle of the display got crazy and got white when all the screen was dark or got dark when the screen was white. attracting the eyes thus making them tired when you have to work on the device for a while
    2. when using 10.1/10.2 the virtual keyboard stopped working and the input services encountered a spike in the performance. if this would happen once a week, i would say ok, but not 2-3 times per day where the solution was rebooting the phone. bb forum as a support channel was absolutely useless, many users have the same issue, but apparently BB does not care.
    3. when using 10.2/10.3 the browser and also other apps (most likely those that make use of browser core) just died several times. rebooting the phone helps but only for a couple of hours. again, many ppl have the same issue but nobody from BB cares.
    4. when using 10.3 the browser stuck 3 times (the last time was the ultimate drop that forced me to RMA it) in a way that you can't clear cache or cookies because you just simply can't access the menu. backup + wipe resolves the issue, but not doing this 3 times in 3 weeks!. no way. once again, this seems to be a very old bug how the hell have i this on stl2?
i am not a man that likes to complain every single time. just want a working device where i don't need to solve such issues 3 times a day. did all what was suggested, security wipes, factory resets, reboots, battery pulls, believe me, i would do anything to have it working but unfortunatelly...
i decided to give BB another chance. when the device comes fixed or changed, and working, i am about to forget everything and enjoy - be the proud BB owner. otherwise...

    meeleman wrote:
ok folks, i have to add few lines after the z10 came back:
first of all, the device was changed. currently the device is not overheating, system is stable. it seems that it was a HW issue. on the other hand, i had to wait for it more than one month without a single information about the reparature status or whatsoever.
Great news, except the month long wait, happy to hear the issues are gone.

  • Q10 stuck at reboot after software update - PLEASE HELP

    Hello
I was checking for software updates for my Q10 yesterday and was informed that there is a new update
I clicked on download and install, and it asked me to reboot when it was done. After that it loaded very slowly until it reached 99% 6 hours later and it remained like that for 12 hours
What I did this morning was remove the battery and sim card and I reinserted the battery, the same thing happened again and it is moving very very slowly
Can you please help?? I would rather find away in which I do not loose my BBM contacts since I have not backed up my phone...are the contacts stored on my blackberry ID or will I loose them if I reset the phone?
    Thank you very much

It finally powered on after 3 battery pulls, but now it does not make or receive calls (((
Everytime I connect it to blackberry link it says software update available, so I clicked on install, it said downloading update and then nothing happens, the download bar becomes full then nothing changes
I also tried to reload device software, i got a message saying checking repair software and it stayed like that for 3 hours then the device rebooted but nothing happened at all
I even tried redoing the software update from the phone itself 3 times, everytime it would say update successful but the phone would still not make or receive calls
Please help I dont know what to do....could the problem with blackberry link be that im using it on a mac??
