Z10 struggles to switch on

I struggle to get my Z10 to turn on and eventually when I get it on and try use it, it crashes again

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Please try this sequence...note that, throughout the entire 4h15m process, your BB must remain directly connected to a known-good wall charger (not PC USB, not a cradle):
With the battery inside, connect your BB to the wall charger
Leave it alone for 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
Remove the battery
Wait 15 minutes
Insert the battery
Wait another 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
This has been known to "kick start" some BBs. If it fails, please try again but increase the wait time in step 4 to 2 hours, and perhaps as long as 4-5 hours.
It is also possible that your battery or BB has experienced a problem...to test, this sequence is needed:
Obtain an known good and already fully charged additional battery...use it in your BB and see what happens
Obtain access to a known good and identical BB...use your battery in it and see what happens
The results of this will indicate if it's your BB or your battery that has the problem. Note carefully please that "new" and "know good" are not necessarily the same things. While rare, a "new" battery certainly could be defective. Rather, the simplest (and least costly, btw) method to conduct this test is to find someone with an identical BB who has no issues...trade batteries and see what happens.

Struggling with switch from PC to mac!

I had to make a pretty hasty decision following the death of my pretty young PC so decided to switch to Mac and I love it.....except:
I keep all my photos on an external hard drive - and since using the mac, they're all locked. If I drag and drop the JPEG files to my desktop they automatically unlock, but the NEF and RAW files aren't changing.
How do I fix this problem - I've around 7,000 images on the hard drive that I can't lose.

How is the external disk drive formatted?
If it was used on a PC then it is most likely formatted NTFS.
The Apple can read NTFS but not write to it natively.
You are either going to have to reformat to HFS+ or purchase third party software.
Reformatting is probably the best solution. If you reformat the external disk drive that will wipe out all data on it so backup first.

Z10 freezes and switchs off

Hi guys, ever since I updated my o's to v 10.1.0.4181 I have been having endless problems with it, the handset lags when minimising apps, or it just freezes up and reboots, anyone else having this problem? Or anyone with a solution?

Have you tried rebooting the device yourself?
On your BlackBerry10 device:
Restart: Press and hold the upper edge power button a couple seconds and the tap the lower right RESTART.
Reboot: On the side edge volume keys, press and hold down both of the Up and Down volume keys for about 20 seconds, ignoring the initial screenshot message... the screen will go black and reboot.
Another thing... when did you update to 10.1.0.4181, how long ago?

Incorrect characters on some HP printers using POST2 driver

We are getting very strange errors on some models of HP printers. We chose to use postscript as our standard printing language in order to try to get as near identical output across our range of 100-odd different printer models across our company.
However, on some HP printers (so far LJ1300,LJ2200,OfficeJet3030) we get weird mispelt words. A ghostscript view of the source postscript file shows it correct, but on these printers we get the last letter of certain words changed to the preceding letter of the alphabet. For example 'Dear Madam' becomes 'Dear Madal' and 'Sheet' becomes 'Shees'. It usually only affects one or two words on each document.
We are using the POST2 printer driver for all such printers. Presumably it is caused by some fault in certain firmware levels of HP's printers, but has anyone seen this before, and got a workaround?
All of these printers have postscript dimms which are not upgradable (so far as I can tell) - and certainly not by a downloadable upgrade - which means expensive printer replacement to fix the issue in hardware.
I'm struggling to switch to PCL now, because when we do that we have big page registration and offset issues - which would mean a redesign of many of our forms.

We did just run into this issue ourselves when printing W-2's via POST2 to an HP 8100. Out of 7500 or so W-2's printed, we had two people report that their last name was misspelled, and in this case it was shifting a T to an S. There might have been others, but only two were reported. I looked at Note 538765, but that Note implies that the issue is resolved in our kernel release (7.00). I subsequently found that if I redirect the output for one of the problem W-2's to a non-HP printer (a Canon IR5070), the printout is perfect.

Nokia E7 Frustrating at a high cost

Had my E7 now for a week after upgrading from the E75
The E75 did everything it was suppose to; I got my emails as they were sent,when I was in reach of my wifi it automatically switched to using it & when out of reach automatically used the 3G; the slide action was solid and durable.
The E7 gets emails hours afterwards,I read an email only to see that it is unread as soon as I exit the email app; contstantly struggle to switch between wifi and 3G; I barely take the phone out of the houes and treat it with upmost care and the slide action allready makes a cracking sound when I open it; the phone just restarts about once a day without me turning it of....
How can this be!?!
Did I get the wrong phone? At such a high price?
Really dont see how I will be able to use this phone for the remainder of my 2year contract (this is how all contracts in South Africa are) if this is happening after a week!?!
Anyone else experiencing the same problems?

E7 slide mechanism appears robust so perhaps you have an issue here. With regards to connectivity I am sure that as you are used to "E" Series that in Menu > Settings > Connectivity > Settings > Destinations > Internet - that WLAN = Priority 1 and network access point = Priority 2

Switching devices and Downgrading from Z10 OS10 to 9800 OS6

i recently upgraded my Blackberry Touch 9800 running OS6 to a Blackberry Z10 Running OS10
i am not to impressed with the battery life and features of the Z10. Now i need to downgrade i.e. switch devices back from Z10 to 9800.
The Z10 using Desktop Link and the 9800 uses Desktop Manager.
Trying to Switch device does not work.
Can anyone please advise on what to do?

BlackBerry doesn't think anyone will want to switch from the Z10 back to a BBOS device so they haven't built any type of device switch for that direction. Hopefully, as the poster before me stated, you have a backup from your previous device that you can restore to the 9800.
Note: Do NOT attempt to put the micro sim into the 9800 using any kind of sim adapter. I ruined my 9810 attempting to do that. The sim got stuck and wouldn't come out. It ripped out one of the sim card contacts. Just giving the word of caution.

Help with switching from Z10 to 9900

I would be grateful for any help on how to make a smooth switch from the Z10 to the 9900. If there are any prior posts on this please direct me. I got the Z10 the day it came out in March but my company has refused to support the Z10 and I can't do without my work mail & calendar on my phone.

What are you trying to back up if you don't mind me asking? Just your contracts?
Because your emails and calendar info you can sync to your work email address but I haven't tried to downgrade since I got BB 10's

You can't restore an OS 10 backup to the 9900, so first, tell us what data is on your Z10 that you wish to have on your 9900?
(personally, I couldn't go backwards, this Z10 is a great device, so much faster than my OS 7 devices ever were)

Open your Displays system preferences. Is there an Arrangement tab and does it show two screens? If no Arrangement tab then your mac does not know it has two screens. Maybe smc and pram reset will shake it free and maybe not. Maybe there's something wrong with the connection. Unfortunately, that is a limitation of the BB10 OS's. You cannot restore a backup from a newer OS version to an older version. You can restore a backup from an older version to a same or newer version only.
You need the Q10 to be on a newer version. Your only option is to install a "leaked" OS onto the Q10 in order to be able to restore your backup or transfer data.
Here is a link to the latest OS for the Q10. All you do is download the file, it will be a .rar file so you'll need an unzip tool like 7zip to unzip it to the .exe file. Then connect the Q10 and run the .exe file and it will update the OS. It will take you longer to download the file than to install it, too. It takes about 5 minutes to load the new OS.

Z10 switch devices fiasco

I've just spent 3 hours trying to get a replacement Z10 up and running (still not got all my settings or Apps sorted). I cracked the screen on my last Z10 and the insurance company sent out a replacement. I backed up everything through the Blackberry Link desktop software, so imagined it would be a simple matter to switch devices and have all my settings, data and apps transferred. Problems started with the fact that the "switch device" option in BB link needs you have your old device available when you try use this service. I had to give the courier my broken handset when he dropped of my replacement, so I didn't have it available. I imagine someone who has lost their phone or if it's completely unresponsive would also have the same problem. This is a really bad oversight on Blackberry's part!! Next I tried to use the back up I had saved from my broken phone. This wouldn't work at first because the "personal files" were not present on the new handset. I finally got that sorted, but then had to go through everything again manually to try get my phone even close to what it was like before. So now in my BB Link software I have two phones listed, but can't merge them (and I'm not going to delete the old one till I'm 100% sure I've got everything in place). Come on Blackberry, sort this out!! I'm a tech savvy guy and I found it excruciating trying to deal with all this. You had such an amazing opportunity with the launch of BB10 and you have totally messed it up. Your old operating system might of been dated, BUT at least it worked!! (I was using one of my old Blackberry's while I waited for the replacement). I really don't want to see the end of this company, but if they keep shooting themselves in the foot like this, I don't hold out much hope for them.
