Z10 Unusable after upgrade attempt

Please help!
My Z10 prompted me to a software upgrade this morning which I accepted.  It took an unusually long time, but when it did finally return, all of my text messages were gone, my e-mail accounts and Blackberry Hub were scrambled and I could not make or receive phone calls.
This my corporte phone and I was on call today for a system migration so it was imperative to get my phone working again.  After waiting and trying everything else, I decided to do a full back-up and then a security wipe to try to get the phone back to its original state.  The security wipe went on for hours so I eventually pulled the battery.  When the phone came back, it only displays the USB connection icon.  Blackberry link is not able to connect to the phone and when I try to use Blackberry link to reload the original software, it only loads up to 84% and then says there was an error loading the software.  I have since tried several times to no avail.
Can anyone help me?

  • IPad2 unusable after upgrade to ios7 because of keyboard lag

I have a 5-10 second lag after typing any character on my iPad after upgrading to ios7. I've reset it. I've restored it. I've turned off iCloud for data and documents. None of this has solved the problem. Any other ideas? It's impossible to use for anything that requires the keyboard.

Perhaps I did not make myself clear, my apologies for that.
The cover does put it to sleep and wakes it up (as evidenced by the clicking sound), but when it wakes, the screen lock does NOT engage.   You know that first screen where it shows the clock real big at the top center and at the bottom center it says to slide to the right?  That is the screen that does not work.
That screen will come up if I manually put it to sleep and wake it with the top button, but auto-lock feature is not working.

  • IPhoto Library unusable after upgrade to iLife'11

I have recently purchased the iLife'11 Family Upgrade Pack for up to 5 Macs with which my Dad and I have upgraded both of our Snow Leopard capable iMacs.
My iMac was fine when upgraded. Immediately after upgrading I was prompted to use Software Update and then the iMac performed an operation to 'upgrade' my iPhoto Library (or was it the other way around?).
However when I upgraded my Dad's iMac (24", 2.16ghz) the upgrade itself seemed to take ok, but something went awry when the Mac got to the point where it wanted to update the iPhoto Library. During this process it kept reporting that certain files were missing and I was forced to search for them manually. I found these files and the upgrade was eventually completed. I forget now which files they were, however one particular file was repeated a number of times.
Anyway, ever since upgrading the iPhoto Library on my Dad's machine, his iPhoto won't open and he's cussing me flashes.
Any idea what went wrong and how I may fix this?
By the way, I took the usual precautions before upgrading, like running Disk Utility, repairing permissions and so on. I even ran Disk Warrior and got that to fix any potential problems before I did anything.

Downloaded the iPhoto Library Manager that you helpfully provided the link for and asked it to rebuild the library.
This appeared to be going well until we got about 75% of the way when iPhoto Library Manager itself froze. Luckily we were able to identify the Photo that it was working on when it froze so we opened up a copy of iPhoto on our backup drive, found the offending Photo and trashed it before emptying iPhoto's trash.
iPhoto continued to behave a bit sluggishly and other problems were aparent such as the Thumb nails for event not changing as the cursor moved over them. So I trashed iPhoto, re-installed the '09 version, then ran the '11 upgrade again followed by the software update of course.
Toboot iPhoto appears to be working again.
By the way, I found out what those files were I mentioned in my first post. They were .dv file from some movies that I don't think belong where they are anyway. They were made by my digital stills camera so that may have something to do with it.
Thanks for the iPhoto Library Manager tip. It helped a lot.

  • After upgrade attempt for 8310, device will not restart -- only blinking red light

Problem: I tried to upgrade the device software to 4.5, and now THE DEVICE WILL NOT RESTART AT ALL. Not with a hard reset. Not using the SIM and battery from my 8310 and putting it in hers. Nothing. Just a red light that blinks in a pattern: two quick blinks, then a pause; two quick blinks, then a pause, etc.
Background: This 8310 had vers. 4.2.2 device software, and something like 2.6 on the desktop. I downloaded/upgraded to 4.6 for the desktop and 4.5 for the device from the AT&T site. The Desktop manager prompted me to install the new device software... looking good. After several minutes, I got an "unknown error" message and it stopped the install.Following a support article, I uninstalled reinstalled both updates, but then the problem occurred: no NOTHING happens on the device screen at all, just the blinking red light when the device is plugged in.
The AT&T store tells me this is about the tenth "dead" Curve he's seen in about a week, apparently all occurring when folks have attempted a software updgrade. Any thoughts/help to offer?

  • AFPTCPD goes "unused" after upgrade to OES2sp2

    All,
This past weekend, I upgraded all of my SLES servers to SLES10sp3 OES2 sp2.
Now, a couple of my MAC clients can cause AFPTCPD to go unused and stop running.
The MAC at my desk is at OSX 10.4.11 and I can connect to my mounted NSS volumes without any problems. A MAC at OSX 10.6.3 and another at OSX 10.5.8, merely by making the attempt (GO, Connect to Server from the MAC desktop), cause the daemon to stop and go unused. Last week before the patchings, everybody was fat and happy.
At the Linux command prompt, I can restart the daemon and things work again, until one of the MACs at the OSX level mentioned above makes an attempt.
I'm fully patched, at least according to "rug up". Are there configuration parameters (threads (8), reconnect period (1440), etc.) that will makes things better?
    Any thoughts appreciated.

  • Firefox wants to restart my computer repeatedly after upgrade attempt, but will not run firefox.

I attempted to upgrade firefox on my computer (Windows XP) and it hung up, so I closed the program. I reopened and attempted to download the newest version and got a message that said I had to reboot for changes to take effect. I reboot the computer and attempted to open firefox, only to get the message that I needed to reboot. So I did, again, and when I try to open firefox I keep getting this message.
I tried to remove firefox so I could reinstall a fresh version and when I go to the Windows add/remove program tool, it tells me I have to reboot everytime I click on the remove button.

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

  • Mac mini unusable after upgrade to 10.5.6

I upgraded a Tiger 10.4.11 Mac mini to Leopard using the 10.5.6 DVD.
After the upgrade, the computer is so slow it is unusable. Spotlight it indexing but that does not seem to be the cause of the slowdown. I checked the system log, and it shows "memberd" is crashing continuously.
I used launchctl to remove memberd from the launch list and the computer works normally again.
How can I prevent memberd from being launched every time I restart the computer? What could be starting it?

If memberd is constantly crashing, there's something else wrong with your system that is causing it to do so.
Simply stopping memberd isn't a solution.
Have you tried the usual troubleshooting techniques of running Disk Utility to make sure your hard drive verifies OK, and running a "Repair Permissions?"

  • Unable to launch firefox above 3.0 after upgrade attempt

I had firefox 3.0. I tried upgrading when 3.2 came out and was unable to launch firefox after that. For each subsequent revision, I tried to upgrade but always had same problem. It does not give any error message. It just refuses to launch. So I just stopped trying to upgrade and kept using the 3.0. I use an EeePC mini notebook with XP home edition. It functions well with the other browser which I don't like to use. Any suggestion?

    Hello Dieter,
We have used fully qualified domain name as the server name and all the services have been activated using SIAC_PUBLISH_ALL_INT.
The notes 808347 and 816973 have already been checked through. The browser prob i have implemented but to no help. Is  there any parameter to be set in the profile parameter maintenance for SNC, I am not sure; its just a wild guess..we are not using portal as of now.

  • Safari is Unusable After Upgrading to 10.6.3, Continually Beach-Balls

Recently, I upgraded to 10.6.3 on my MacBook Pro 15" (early 2006). I immediately noticed that Safari became unusable. Every 10 seconds or so, it would hang for about 30 seconds, become unresponsive and showing the spinning beach ball. If I search for Safari in system.log in Console, I see the following whenever this happens:
    Apr 4 13:06:55 Jordan-Kays-MacBook-Pro Safari[1229]: INSERT-HANG-DETECTED: Tx time:43.986384, # of Inserts: 0, # of bytes written: 0, Did shrink: NO
It seems that Safari is the only application that is having this problem. I backed up all of my files, wiped my main hard drive, reinstalled Snow Leopard and then updated to 10.6.3. I made sure to verify and repair the drive. Still, I am getting these errors, with Safari hanging frequently, though not as bad as before.
Is anyone else having these problems, and is there a fix?

    HI,
I immediately noticed that Safari became unusable. Every 10 seconds or so, it would hang for about 30 seconds, become unresponsive and showing the spinning beach ball.
From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Empty Cache. When you are done with that...
From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Reset Safari. Select the top 5 buttons and click Reset.
Go here for trouble shooting 3rd party plugins or input managers which might be causing the problem. Safari: Add-ons may cause Safari to unexpectedly quit or have performance issues
Since you are running Snow Leopard, *make sure Safari is opening in 32-bit mode, not 64.* Right or control click the Safari icon in the Applications folder, then click: Get Info In the Get Info window click the black disclosure triangle next to General so it faces down. Select 32 bit mode. Also, (in that same window) *make sure Safari is NOT running in Rosetta.*

Web pages now include a small icon or 'favicon' which is visible in the address bar and next to bookmarks. These icons take up disk space and slow Safari down. It is possible to erase the icons from your computer and start fresh. *To delete Safari's icon cache using the Finder, open your user folder, navigate to ~/Library/Safari/ and move this file "webpageIcons.db to the Trash.*
If Safari still "beachballs", go to the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari/Preferences. Make note of all the preferences under each tab. Quit Safari. Now go to ~/Library/Preferences and move this file com.apple.safari.plist to the Desktop. Relaunch Safari. If it's a successful launch, then that .plist file needs to be moved to the Trash.
Note... anytime you update from one Mac OS X to the next ie; 10.6.2 to .3 always Repair Disk Permissions.
Quit any open applications/programs. Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.

  • Slow - Unusable after upgrade - MacPro Mid2012

Upgraded to Yosemite. Plenty of GB space (72 remaining). Ran Disk Utility Repair from Safe Mode (no issues). Reset SMC and NVRAM. Have re-installed as well. I do not have a Time Machine Back Up saved so I am against a complete restore at the time.
I need some other tips to either fix/speed up this issue, or a way to Save All Documents to an External in order to try a complete restore...

  • Z10 unusable after failed software update

What do i do? Updated my phone this morning. It told me to restart my phone after the update, so i did. When it switched on the screen is stuck and the phone unusable. I've tried plugging it into my laptop, but gained minor access. I can't do anything with the phone. it is rendered useless, and i can't find contact details for blackberry to help me get my phone back up and running. • Unusual "no boot" situation after upgrade attempt

I tried to upgrade my old MacBook Pro (1,1, pre-unibody) over the weekend with 2 GB memory, a 500 GB SATA, and Snow Leopard.  Now, it powers up (as shown by the power/sleep LED glowing, and the drives making noise, but the screen is black.
A Snow Leopard upgrade DVD will not come out of the drive, even if I hold the trackpad button down, or the C key, or the option key, at power-up.
I have gone back to the old SATA and memory, same situation.  I've tried different arrangements of the memory chips; once or twice I got the blinking-every second LED that indicates a memory problem, but now it's just steady after power up.  The fact that there's no chime at startup means that it's not reading the memory, some say.
I reset the SMC (take battery out, hold power for 5 minutes), no difference.
I attached an external USB drive with Tiger on it, no difference.
Any suggestions would be appreciated before I go to the Genius Bar or a local tech.

Actually, a happier ending after I stopped by the Apple Store.  They have a program where MacBook Pros out of warranty can be fixed for $310 flat fee if:
    1.  No physical damage (like spilling liquid into it)
    2.  Up to three major components (logic board included) are replaced.
Such a deal.  My only complaint is that they replaced my Newer battery with an old Apple one, and say there's nothing they can do about it.  But, I'm glad my MacBook is working fine.  I can deal with repairs of under $100 per year.
    That's more like it.

  • G4 won't launch after upgrade attempt

I have a PowerMac G4 that was running on OSX 10.3.5. I tried a software upgrade to 10.3.9, but it got hung up when it was almost 75% complete. Now, when I try to restart, I get a gray apple on a white background and it won't go any further. I can't get the CD drive to open so that I can load OSX 10.5. Any ideas??

Welcome To  Discussions Luke N Forhelp!
Unless the Hard Drive has failed, although that error is not exactly good news, it is not necessarily a death knell, and the situation may not be hopeless.
DiskWarrior has a high success rate at rebuilding when Disk Utility reports "Underlying task reported failure" when repairing a volume (Error -9972).
Or TechTool Pro can also be used.
    In the above link it states;
*Back up as much of your important data and files as you can, then try using a third-party disk utility to repair the drive. Be sure that you use one that works with your version of Mac OS X."
DiskWarrior, also linked above, is just such a third-party utility.
But in case it is unsuccessful, and you need to perform an Erase & Install, I suggest that if possible, you back up the system, or at least any data that you cannot afford to lose ASAP.
If you have access to another Mac that is Firewire enabled, you might be able to backup, or retrieve data, using Firewire Target Disk Mode.

If you're on Windows, check out a free program called Audacity--it's fantastic.  With Audacity the process of converting a 48.000 kHz to 44.100 kHz is as simply as opening, changing the sample rate, and then exporting again, as an MP3.
