Z10 won't backup

I am still running the original 10.0.0.422 software (I know, I know). Now, a year later, my phone is overheating and not receiving texts. My options are to update to the current OS and hope this resolves the issues, or restore and update. Either way I have to back up the 11 GB of data on my phone. Mostly photos and texts that are very important. The issue is that I can't backup on Link. I have the latest version on my laptop. I've read that there are apps causing problems, but the ONLY apps I have are SMS BACKUP and the free horoscope app. I've backed up before with both of these apps on the phone, but only photos. Now I want to backup my texts and other documents. I've read a few other boards and tried putting the phone on airplane mode. This didn't work. I still get the BACKUP DID NOT COMPLETE message with the red X. MUST update or restore soon, but desperately need to backup. Any suggestions for someone who isn't exactly an expert at this type of thing???

I have now got the link to work although the restore data went 100% on the computer and only 98% on the handset.  I still don't have my contacts. There is again no restore option so I can't repeat.  I'm getting to the end.  I called head office and they said they would have someone get back to me. Waited 5 hours and no call back.  It would be better if they just told us there is no way you are going to get this to work then slam the phone down. Then I will know where I stand.  I think I will need to go to head office with a sign and pace around out front until someone helps.  This shouldn't be this hard.
This is **bleep**

Please Help . Is it bricked?

    Hello,
Given what you report, I recommend you attempt the AutoLoader method of reloading your OS:

  • Time machine won't backup, yet plenty of space & not much used on Mac HD

Well, this is yet another "Time machine won't backup becuase there is not enough space" thread. I have searched Google and threads here but it's still a mystery why this error is occurring and it seems there is no clear solution. I also looked at the Apple Time Machine errors FAQ as well.
Here are my specs and what I have tried so far.
2010 Mac Pro Quad Core with 1 TB hard drive with 12 GB RAM. (137 GB used so far on internal Mac hard drive disk, so about 863 GB free space).
    - New external 1 TB hard drive initialized as Time Machine backup disk when inserted for the first time.
The exact error I am getting is this: "This backup is too large for the backup disk. The backup requires 1.80 TB but only 999.20 GB are available."
I have tried deleting the Time Machine system preference, reinitializing the external disk, clearing the system caches with Cocktail, restarting and letting Time machine ask me all over again if I wanted to use the external drive for Time Machine. Still the same error.
My question is how on earth can 1.80 TB be required for the backup when I only have 137 GB of used space?

    Two possibilities:
There's another disk (or disks) connected to your Mac. If they're formatted HFS+, Time Machine is trying to back it/them up as well. You can exclude them per #10 in [Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions|http://web.me.com/pondini/Time_Machine/FAQ.html] (or use the link in *User Tips* at the top of this forum). The 1.8 TB includes 20% for temporary workspace on the TM drive, so TM is estimating the backup at about 1.5 TB.
Something on your internal HD is corrupted, causing an incorrect calculation. Verify your internal HD, per #6 in [Formatting, Partitioning, Verifying, and Repairing Disks|http://web.me.com/pondini/AppleTips/DU.html] (or use the link in *User Tips* at the top of the +Using Snow Leopard+ forum).

  • IPhone won't backup during iTunes sync

Hi!  The last few times I've synced my iPhone 3GS in iTunes, it won't backup.  I get an error message after it goes through the other steps to sync apps and such. Normally the backup is step 1, then it does the other steps, but now it's skipping right to step 2 and then when it's finished gives me this message:
"iTunes could not backup the iPhone "Debbie's iPhone" because a session could not be started with the iPhone".  This is something I've never seen before.  Is there a fix?  It's making me nervous not having a current backup.
    Thanks, Debbie

Thanks, i've tried that already. It initiates the backup, but seems to backup one tune only, not the apps. The process takes less than a second, telling me that the apps did not transfer.

  • IPad won't backup. It keeps getting stuck

My iPad won't backup on iTunes on my computer. It used to work fine then one day it stopped. It starts backing up and it barely does anything then it freezes. The bar won't move any more, even if I leave it for like an hour. iTunes still goes to different pages, but it won't backup anymore. Then when I cancel the backup, my iPad stops doing it but the iTunes backup bar stays there and iTunes won't close unless I restart my computer. I do have the latest version of iTunes.
What should I do? I can't just NOT back it up.

  • Z10 won't pair with playbook

Downloaded BBY Bridge on to Z10, won't pair with Playbook.  Phone says I'm paired but Playbook doesn't see it.  OS on Playbook 2.1.0.1753.  Any help?

OK, forgot to reboot Playbook.  I'm paired now, BUT, BBM and Text Messages are the only Bridge options.  Don't have browser, calendar, etc on Bridge.  Any thoughts?
That is normal, if you use the browser on the PlayBook, it will automatically use the Bridge to connect to the Internet when you are on the go, as for the contact andcalendar, well they are already shared through the Calendar and Contact on both device since they both can use the same online source.
The BBM and the texting program where the only program that needed to be shared using the bridge

  • Z10 won't sync calendar.

For about a day, my Z10 won't sync. It seems to get stuck on the calendar, and the error message says:
CPreferencesManager: Configuration Value for /Preferences/Account_4_262146/SyncAccountId_2 not set in Transconfig.xml for translator RimBB
    Suggestions?

  • Z10 won't sync with ActiveSync: "...account no longer synchronized..."

My Z10 won't sync anything with our corporate Exchange server, but rather gives me a message that "Your account is no longer synchronized with your device.  Check that your account settings are correct.  If they are correct, contact your email service provider."
What happens is that I enter my account information, and everything looks good - no errors appear, the Z10 shows that it is connecting to get "setting and policy stuff", then everything looks okay.  I can go into that email account via the Hub, and I can see my folders.  But nothing ever syncs - no mail, contacts, or calendar.
After about 5 minutes, I get a notification in the hub that my account is no longer synchronized.  Then...when I go to settings|accounts I see that account showing "Not Connected - Account Invalid".
I know my Exchange account is enabled for ActiveSync, because I use it with other devices.  I've double checked the password, username, mail server name, domain, etc...
    Any tips?

  • Time Machine won't backup up to external firewire drive

MacBook Pro - Time Machine won't backup to firewire external drive.  Has worked well in past few weeks..........any ideas?

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ If you’re running Mac OS X 10.7 or later, open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the page that opens.
Select "system.log" from the file list. Enter "backupd" (without the quotes) in the String Matching text field. Post the messages from the last backup, beginning with "Starting standard backup."
Post the log text, please, not a screenshot. If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Do not post many repetitions of the same message.
Some personal information, such as the names of your files, may be included — edit that out, too, but don’t remove the context.

  • Time machine won't backup. Says disk is full ( stand alone disk). Souldn't it delete enough to create new backup. Last backup was 7/20/11. When I click "enter time machine' it goes to mail screen and nowhere else.

Time machine won't backup. Says disk doesn't have enough room. Shouldn't it delete old info to make space for new.
When I click on "enter time machine" it takes me to the last backup 7/22/11 and doesn't allow me to go further back.

    No idea's?
I'm starting to think I just need to delete the sparsebundle file altogether and start over again...

  • 3gs won't backup

I've been trying to update to 4/4.1 since June, and it's the same error over and over again - it won't backup. I've looked all over and cant figure out why. Any suggestions?

I did that about an hour ago... still nothing. I just transferred all my purchases, and then hit backup and it's been 'backing up' for about an hour with no progression on the bar :O/

  • Won't backup angry birds

I'm trying to backup my wife's ipad before I upgrade the OS. Each time I try it won't backup Angry birds and some other app. It says that I've not authorized the computer I'm on but I did and each time I go to authorize this computer again, it says that it's already authorized. Help!

I have the same problem, and have spent about four hours f--ing around all the forums her and elsewhere, trying everything anyone has posted--quitting iTunes, restarting both the Mac and the phone, throwing away old backups, turning airplane mode on to cut wifi, right-clicking the phone in the sidebar to manually backup three times (and more) while clicking through the error messages, NOTHING WORKS.
Apple, ***?  Come on.  I'm on the latest OS on both devices--10.8.2 on the Mac and iOS6 on the iPhone.  Where's your quality control?  My calendars aren't syncing and I can't back up.  HELP, someone!

  • HT204053 i restarted my apple id email because i deleted my old email.. but now my phone won't backup to icloud because it's asking for the password to the old email. How would i fix this?

i restarted my apple id email because i deleted my old email.. but now my phone won't backup to icloud because it's asking for the password to the old email. How would i fix this?

If your phone is signed into your old iCloud ID ("email"), you need to delete the existing account then sign back in with your new ID.  To do this go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iPhone, then sign back in with the ID you wish to use.  If you don't know the password for your old ID, or if it isn't accepted, go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll.  When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

  • Time Machine won't backup to ext hard drive?

I keep receiving the error message that Time Machine won't backup to my ext hard drive since it can't create the backup file.  Why?  Same ext hard drive for over 2 yrs.  Using iMac (early 2008) with Mountain Lion.

Is it at least twice the capacity of the original?
Is it formatted with a GUID partition?
