Z22 hotsync with windows xp

I purchased a Z22 to replace an M125.  Have been using palm handhelds for nearly 10 years.  Datebook data did not sync.  Contacts ok.  Called palm support phone#. Waited for 30min then got person I could not communicate with.  Hung up.  Called Staples where I bought bought Z22.  I can come back to the store and for $40 they will fix problem for a product that cost me $90.  What's wrong with this picture? If I had read the hotsync problem messages on this board first, I wouldn't have bought another palm.  Is palm serious about remaining in this business?
Any suggestions on datebook hotsync issue?

Hello philppl and welcome to the Palm forums.
The Z22 does not use the Date Book application.  Disable the Date Book conduit and you should be fine.  By the way, you did follow the upgrade directions found here, right?

  • Palm Z22 hotsync with windows 7 64 bit-using IRD

I have been trying to hotsync my input from Palm Z22 into my new OS Windows 7 64 bit using first the USB-unsuccessful.
I purchased an IRD to try and hotsync onto OS windows 7 64 bit- but also have failed.  Any advise?

I do not know if it will work. In his post at brighthand that he made the Aceeca driver available to the palm community Alex stated that it should work with many Palm devices that were os 4 or 5. You are using an older version of the palm desktop and one of the older os 4 devices. I do know of people with the palm m505 and m515 using the Aceeca driver with success, but they were using a newer version of the palm desktop. I believe most were using the 4.1.4 palm desktop version. I do not know if experimenting with a newer desktop version will help either.

  • Hotsync with Windows XP without using Outlook?

Can I Hotsync with Windows XP and use a program other than Outlook. I am using my old M100, thanks.
    Post relates to: Palm m100

    Hi,
I am brand new to this...bought an m100 at a garage sale...trying to use it on my windows xp...so I bought a trendnet usb to serial converter and set it up...i try to hotsync and it says "the connection between your handheld computer and the desktop could not be established.  Please check your setup and try again".  At one point, COM4 was the port that was being used on local, but now it's saying that COM1 isn't available.  I don't know what i'm doing.  I just want to put some text into this device that i currently have stored in WORD on my PC.  Can someone help me in very simple terms?  I don't understand any of this lingo.

  • Unable to HotSync with Windows 7 (64bit)

I wonder if anyone has had any success of using hotsync with a Palm Z22 (handheld).  I do not have bluetooth on this laptop, only wireless.  The error message is that I am missing a hotsync driver.  I called Palm and was told that Windows 7 does not support hotsync.  Any suggestions?  Thanks.

Folks, did you read the post about getting a "Bluetooth Dongle"?   Walmart.com has them for as little as $15 US.  This easily adds BlueTooth capability to any computer via a tiny device that attaches to a USB port.
Palm is not going backwards - it has discontinued PalmOS devices quite some time ago, and has moved forwards to webOS!
Workarounds have been offered here in this forum.  You can choose to follow them or not, your choice.

  • Hotsync with windows XP Home

My Tungsten E2 has stopped hotsyncing with my windows XP computer. It worked fine for several months and now I get the message "The connection between you device and the desktop could not be established.  Pelease check your setup and try again."  I have two hotsync cables and have tried both.  I have tried a soft reset and that did not solve the problem.  I have also tried two different computers and it doesn't work with either, though it used to.

  • Palm m500 Hotsync with Windows 7 Home Basic - 32 bit

I have a couple of old, but ever so useful, Palm m500/m505  PDAs,  which I could hot-sync with my old PC running on Windows XP.  Now I have up-graded to PC with Windows 7 Home Version - 32 bit and am at my wit's end trying to hot sync my PDA data on to my PC Palm Desktop.
I tried hot-syncing by installing Palm Desktop 4.1.4. and Palm 6.2.  Have both on my PC.  It did do a hot-sync but only to back-up data.  I need to view the data on my PC/Monitor.
As I am of the older generation, (a senior citizen), could an expert give me step-by-step  simple instructions on how to resolve my problem.  My Palm m500 PDA has too many contacts to manually transfer.
Also can I convert PDA contacts to Outlook Address Book and then hot-sync with Palm m500 series PDA ?
Waiting anxiously for help and guidance ..........

You can give this a try if you havent done it yet...
How to import the Address Book from Palm Desktop to Outlook
You may need to install this too if it is Outlook 2007
Outlook 2007 Update (Windows installer) for Palm OS
For other outlook versions download from this link:

There is another post that said you may be able to transfer it using the Infrared feature in the device.

  • Palmone m500 - does it hotsync with Windows 7?

I am considering buying a Palmone m500, but am not sure that it hot-syncs with Windows 7, as I believe it is a discontinued product.
Not much use in buying one if I have to type everything in by hand on the Palm screen, I want to be able to do the majority of the data-entry on my Windows 7 based PC, and then sync it onto the Palm..
I believe I am using the "home premium" addition of Windows 7 BTW..
Thanks for any advice on this..

    Hello!
If the PC is using 32bit version of Windows & then it should be fine if you sync to Outlook.  If the PC is using a 64bit version of Windows 7 then it will not be compatible unless you get a PalmOS PDA with bluetooth like the Palm TX.

  • Z22 hotSync with Outlook 2007

I run Outlook 2007 on Windows XP.  My old reliable m515 stopped syncing the calendar with my organization's Office 2007 upgrade.  So I  - apparently foolishly - upgraded to a Palm Z22.  It also will not sync the calendar with Outlook 2007.  Extremely frustrating.  Any solutions, or has this wonderful technology apparently gone obsolete way before its time?
    Thanks!

I am not sure what you are asking but my data is in my LifeDrive device and I can sync it to a Palm Desktop but I need to sync it to my Outlook calendar at work which is the 2007 version. I have been using my LifeDrive for approximately two years and it has alot of information regarding dates in it that I need on my Outlook calendar. When I sync my device with the Outlook Calendar it only shows events that I have just put in it will not show previous events?

    Hello,

    - Not Synchronized
    Outlook Contacts synchronization failed
When I go to the settings, also there is the same error : “This version of Outlook is not supported by the Outlook Conduit application. Supported outlook versions are Outlook 98, 200, XP(2002) and 2003.”. It looks like the upgrade with palmoutlook2007conduits have no effect in Windows 7.
I hope someone have a solutions for this problem.

  • Palm z22 won't sync with Windows 7

I have a palm Z22 which I only use for geocaching. Has been working fine with Windows XP.
Just got a new computer running Windows 7. Installed from the disc (few years old)..wouldn't sync or recognize the PDA. Downloaded Palm Desktop 6.2 which was supposed to fix the problem..didn't work.
What now?? Would buy another Palm PDA if necessary. Are there any which will work on Windows 7?

You get asked it every day? Too much of a bother to you?
Assuming only one person per day contacts you about this issue (which I very much doubt), that would mean approximately 120 persons have bothered to ask the question since the release of Windows 7. This does not reflect the many who simply toss their Palm product in the trash, and buy a competitor's product.
It is incomprehensible to me that a patch has not been written yet. And it is obvious that you really just do not care. You present yourself as simply annoyed that you CUSTOMERS are asking for help.
No enterprise that relies on satisfied customers can long survive with an attitude that a portion of their users just don't matter.
Since this is only your third post here I'll try to help you out with some background information how forums work.
Questions that get asked over and over get special treatment - they get responses that are stuck to the top of each section of the forum, and are called "sticky posts".  They are placed prominently at the top, and have a dark background to attract the attention of New Users who may be unfamiliar how internet forums work. It's "assumed" anyone looking for answers would scan the top of a section first before posting questions.
Perhaps you missed the one for Windows 7?  Did you not get any results using the Search function?  How about using the new Tag function to click on "Windows_7"?  Have you been trying to sync to a 64bit system via cable?   Palm Desktop 6.2.2 works fine with 32bit Win7...
So you feel I don't care eh?  Do you see a Palm logo under my nickname?  You don't, due to the fact I am a VOLUNTEER here, sitting at home, and offering my years of experience with PalmOS devices freely to those asking for help.  I am the highest Kudo'd responder here (kudos=Thank You's), have the highest post count, and yes answering the same question over and over again does get tedious at times!
The plain fact remains that Palm Inc. is ending support for PalmOS devices, and those of us using them are on our own.  They sold Palm Desktop to a Japanese company named "Access" years ago, and have gone to webOS as their entire future.  Microsoft has changed their OS twice now (since XP), and you chose to purchase it/them.  Access finally came out with version 6.2.2 of Palm Desktop (for Vista), but that seems to be the end of the road as far as they're concerned.
One of the basic tenets of business is to attract new customers constantly.  Palm's PDA line was discontinued due to lack of sales.  Yes, I would have loved to have seen a TX2, or at least see Palm actually advertise and market what they actually had.  Palm Inc. has moved on, and would like everyone to purchase a webOS device now.
Welcome to the Forum, and I hope you get the answers you are seeking.

Status as a volunteer does not bestow license for rudeness.
It should be reasonably simple to provide a link to a summary of the Windows 7 sync problems, rather than replying to the questioner in the manner you did.
A problem so often asked about deserves to be handled helpfully, not sarcastically. Actually, no request for help of any kind should be treated so disparagingly.
And, although I have no intention of getting into a pissing contest with you, you are way off base in your response to me, dripping with disparagement and sarcasm.
Clearly, in your mind at least, anyone daring to criticize you must be an ignoramus.
I did not search the forum to arrive here.
I came to this forum page from an outside link. Had I realized it would bring me here, I would not have followed it.
I long ago gave up expecting anything helpful in the Palm forums as it relates to this issue.
You did however provide one major piece of useful information: that Palm has literally abandoned PDA users. Yet as recently as last November, the Palm Store in my City was actively selling PDA's including the Z22. One would think that those newly purchased devices would be supported for some reasonable amount of time, like at least a year!
Now I know what future products not to buy. And whom not to engage in conversation.

  • In windows 7 I can hotsync with Desktop 6.2 but I cannot change mail hotsync to Outlook instead of Palm Desktop

    Can anyone help me?
    I have a new computer with windows 7 (64bit).
My Palm device is a Tungsten T5
I tried first to install Palm Desktop from the CD (to be able to switch to outlook sync). But this version will not install.
Then I installed Palm Desktop 6.2 and I am able to Hotsync (via bluetooth) between Palm desktop and my Tungsten.
For Mail, Calendar etc I want to Hotsync with Outlook. But I cannot get that working. Tried to install outlookconduiter, but doesnot work.
Probably I need some code which normally will be installed from the CD. But that installation will not work.
Does anyone know how to solve this?
    Thank you in advance
    Chris
    Post relates to: Tungsten T5

    Hello Alan,
Thank you for replying my message.
But I think I did not explain my problem good enough.
I will try to be more explicit:
I know that I don't need to install an outlook conduit. And I already am able to hotsync with contacts, tasks, etc. Only e-mail will not hotsync. The log says ok at versamail entry, but I did not find new mailmessages on my Palm handheld.
In my Tungsten I have setup an e-mail (veersamail) account.
On my old PC under XP I did setup (long ago) a versmail account seperatedly. When I tried to do the same under Windows 7 an error says: you must first install a Versamail conduit before you can setup a versamail account (on my PC)
But my versamail conduit is on the CD I got when I purchased my Tungsten T5. But installing from this CD is not possible under windows 7 (it hangs). When I identified I therefore installed Palm desktop 6.2, which does not include the Versamail conduit.
I did inspect the original CD but I cannot find anything of versamail. It is included in carrierfiles, I think. But I don't know how to extract and how to find the files I need for the versamail conduit.
    What can I do?
Only buy a new Versamail conduit??
Or do you know other ways to get the versamail hotsync working?
    Regards,
    Chris Beumer

  • Where are "documents to go" files stored when I perform a Hotsync with my windows xp system?

I just upgraded my palm OS to the latest version on my Treo 755p.  Prior to upgrading I did a verizon wireless sync and a hotsync with my windows XP based PC.  I list all my "documents to go" files that were stored on my phone.  They did not reappear when I did Hotsync after the update.  They were all supposed to be Hotsynced.
