Z22 touchscreen unresponsive

Recently when I turn on my Z22 to the password login screen the touch screen is unresponsive when I touch the "keyboard" field.  The keyboard does not pop up to allow me to enter my password.  Therefore I cannot get past the login screen.
When I press the up/down buttons the "OK" and "keyboard" fields highlight.  Here are the things I tried: (1) Plugged the charger in to the Z22 overnight....no change.  (2) Pressed the reset button on the back of the Z22...no change.  (3)  Pressed the power button on and off...no change.  (4)  Checked the Palm Support Community board for similar problems, such as using a business card to clean any possible dirt from between the screen surface and the screen frame...no change.  (5)  Removed the clear plastic screen protector in case it has gotten between the screen and screen frame...no change.  I am out of ideas.  Fortunately I backed up the contents of the Z22 onto my computer and do this frequently and have not lost any data.   I really would appreciate any other suggestions in helping me resolve this issue.  Thanks in advance.

Hello and thank you for using the Palm Help Forums!
Sorry to hear about the Touchscreen issues you are having. I recommend replacement but there is one last troubleshooting step you can try. It's called a hard reset. By doing a hard reset it will erase ALL data currently on the device. According to your post you have it stored on a computer which is good. To do a hard reset you hold the power button down and press the reset button in the back of the device. Continue holding the power button after the reset button has been pressed until the loading bar on the bottom of the screen completes. At that time release the power button and it will ask you on the screen "Erase all data Yes or No?" Press UP on the 5 way navigator for yes. If the problem still persists I recommend replacing the device either through Palm or 3rd parties (usedpdaparts.com).

  • Yoga 2 Pro: boot failure and touchscreen unresponsive

I've had my Yoga 2 for about a week and a half and for the most part I love it. First problem has been occasional (maybe 4-5 times) "Boot Failure", or something along those lines, on startup. Every time after restarting it it has worked fine. Also just earlier today I had a problem where the touchscreen went unresponsive for around 20 minutes before working fine again. I was in class so didn't do anything to try to fix it (taking notes so couldn't restart or anything), and it just starting working again by itself. Other than this, I have had no other problems. I have a few days left on my return/exchange with Best Buy, so wondering if these are problems that I should be seriously concerned about. Thanks.

If it were me, I would definitely exchange it. Boot failure may indicate some permanent failure about to happen, not to mention a flakey touch screen. Neither sounds like a software issue on a brand new computer.

  • IPad Videos touchscreen unresponsive to show video controls

    Hello,
I've searched the archives thoroughly on this one and have found others with the same problem, but no solution. When using the Videos app, after a video has been playing for more than a couple of seconds the touchscreen becomes completely unresponsive, and I cannot bring up the video controls (pause, etc.) The only option I have at this point is the home button.
Has anyone else had this problem and found a solution?
BTW my iOS version is 3.2.1.
    Thanks!

Last night I downloaded flipboard and I messed up the window order (prompt should have been active but the app behind the alert prompt was actually active, really strange) and i count not use the touchscreen at all even when I left the app. I toggled the screen and it all came back.

  • Palm Pre touchscreen unresponsive

This is a rather perculiar problem that i'm facing. The touchscreen was working fine for a while then just yesterday, it stopped responding.
    tried this.
    a. take out battery then restart
    b. the keyboard restart R (+ the other 2 keys)
I even tried doctoring it with webdoctor.
However when I plugged the usb cable into the usb port - the touchscreen started working again...and i though i was home free...but when i plug it out..it stopped working again lol.
Any ideas of what is wrong.

    Hello and welcome to the forums;
If your touchscreen is completely unresponsive, first make sure that the plastic cover that ships with your phone is not on the phone, and that your phone is out of any case that could interfere with the screen. Also if you have put a screen protector on, make sure it is listed as compatible with the Pre, like the invisibleSHIELD. Also I would recommend trying to restart your phone, since you can't use the touchscreen, use these steps to restart:
    1. Hold down the power button
    2. Slide the ringer switch back and forth
    3. Repeat step 2
    4. Repeat step 2
    5. Release power button
    6. Wait a few seconds device screen should go black and then reboot
After a restart, if your touchscreen is still unresponsive and you see no cracks along the surface of the phone, you may need a replacment. Consider contacting Palm technical support for further assistance.
    Hope this helps,

  • IPhone 3G touchscreen unresponsive

    Hi,
We've had an iPhone 3G for a while now, and suddenly the touchscreen has become unresponsive.  I can use the Home button to access the multitasking bar etc., but there's absolutely nothing I can do with the touchscreen.  I've searched the Internet for a fix to this problem, and the solutions seem to point to holding the Standby and Home button simultaneously, or something along those lines.  However, the Standby button on the phone hasn't been working for a while.  Any suggestion would be much appreciated - thanks!

Sorry to hear that your iPhone is having so much trouble. Rare, but both these problems can be due to faulty Logic Board and therefore your iPhone would need to be replaced. More commonly however, it is not the Logic Board, and these can be fixed. The repairs are difficult and probably not worth the time or money, so a new iPhone is possibly the best choice. The sleep button repair is very difficult and requires replacement of the Headphone Jack Cable Complex (Flex Cable #5). The unresponsive touchscreen is a faulty digitizer. This can be due to breakage of the screen, visible or not, or can be due to Flex Cable #2 (Digitizer Flex Cable) coming loose from the Logic Board. If #2 is just loose, then Apple Genius at my store will reseat #2 to the Logic Board for free. If it is faulty, then fix is, replacement of Glass Front Screen with the Digitizer attached. Good Luck.

  • New Nokia 928: touchscreen unresponsive

Hi. My new Nokia 928 arrived today and the touchscreen is unresponsive. All I can do is get the "get started" button to appear, but the screen wont respond at all. I've tried a soft reset, but can't try a hard reset because you need the phone to first be oof and I can't turn it off (unless there is a way to turn it off without hitting the power button and then swiping down?) Any tips?

Its a common issue that has an easy fix...usually.
Power button + Volume Down for about 20-30 seconds.  This will power down and power up your phone.  I havent really found a pattern to why the dead screen happens (its happened about 3-4 times in the past 5 months) but I turned down the display sensitivity from High to normal and that seem to calm it down a bit.  I also keep my screen clean from excessive oil and grime.
    Hope that helps

  • Lumia 710: touchscreen unresponsive

i am using lumia 710..august 2012 packing..i am having trouble with the touchscreen as it becomes unresponsive sometimes.the keys function properly, its just the touchscreen dat is not responding. i would like to specify that this didnt happen while charging, like some other users have reported. i am having problems in disconnecting the calls too, sometimes. i thought that this problem had been solved by nokia.
    plz help me out.

    Hi tomi80,
you wrote you've tried everything. Unless you wouldn't let us know what you have done, it's difficult for us to help you. So I could only recommon you to update your phone to the current version and/or the reset your phone (data will be lost). If your problem is SW related this may help you.
So if you are satisfied with this phone why don't buy Nokia again? Also other manufactures phones may got defective and other manufactures still have limited warranty. Is your phone still in warranty? If yes why dont send it for repair?
If you are satisfied with Lumia 710 then a WP8 device may make you more safisfied at all.

  • IPad 2 touchscreen unresponsive since iOS 7 update.  Is there a fix to this?

I recently updated my iPad 2 to the iOS 7.  It ran fairly smoothely for about a week with the exception of a few minor bugs here and there.  But Thursday night, the touchscreen simply became unresponsive.  There was no warning, I was just typing a reply to a comment on my Facebook wall, and it suddenly stopped working.  The Home button, power button, volume, and screen rotation lock switch all still work normally.  But otherwise, my iPad is now a nice-looking brick.  I found that if I plug in earphones that have the controls on the cord, I can turn my music on and off, but I cannot change songs.
I have troubleshooted this issue and found all the so-called solutions will not work for me.  I do not have Siri, a hard restart won't work (tried that four times), I cannot back up my iPad to my computer because it requires me to unlock the passcode (which I can't because my touchscreen is unresponsive), and I cannot turn off my Find my iPad app to restore my iPad to a previous backup (which again requires my touchscreen to work).
Please, I am in the middle of Final Exams and my notes are on the iPad.  I need them to study.  At this point I would not mind doing a full factory restart if that's what was required for my iPad to work again.  But I'm not sure I can due to my touchscreen being unresponsive.  Please at least give me some suggestions.  I'm desperate here.

If your touch screen isn't working you can't disable find my iPad to do a full restore so this is what worked for me
Try logging into iCloud on another device then go to find my iPad , erase device and then set up as a new device (not a restore backup ) This worked for me and saved taking it to the shop for repairs
       Worth a try
           Good luck

  • Lenovo yoga touchscreen unresponsive to first gesture

I noticed that after working with keyboard/mouse for a while, the touchscreen doesn't respond to the first gesture but works perfectly fine after that. I don't know if this is a bug or some kind of power saving function where the touchscreen shuts down if there's no activity for N minutes? Is any one else seening the same behavior, and is there a fix for this?

    Its easy to fix:
    Go to the device manager.
    Navigate to Human Interface Devices.
Expand the list of devices and select the second of the two USB devices.
    Right click and select Properties.
Go to the Power Management tab.
Uncheck the checkbox allowing this device to sleep.
    That's it!

  • Iphone touchscreen unresponsive

Im having this issue with my old iPhone 4,
most of the time the touchscreen would completley stop working, you can swype your finger all around and it wont do anything,
I had tried the reset method, by pressing home and lock buttons for 15 seconds, the iphone would reset itself and the touchscreen wont work.
Already removed the screen protector, and cleaned it with a damped cloth with a lcd cleaning solution.
I also tried restoring from itunes, and still wont respond.
Its warranty already expired. It havent been dropped or soaked.
Just one time i was dirng a call and after that the iPhone's touchscreen stopped working.
Has anyone bumped with issue and has a soulution?

really angry by this i think a repair shop only solution because it's most likely a hardware issue!

  • Asha 501 touchscreen unresponsive

I bought an Asha 501 about a week ago, and quite quickly it started having problems, where the touch screen would become completely unresponsive. Removing the battery as the only option to restart would let the screen work again for a bit. Now, the screen is completely unresponsive, even after a such a "hard reset".
Should I just return it, or can I do anything myself?
    Cheers,
    Adam

You have done the possible things a user of this handset can do so fix this, Adam. It's best to return the device to the retailer for possible replacement. We'd appreciate it if you'll give us updates regarding this matter.

  • Z22 touchscreen not working

My Z22 touch screen is not working.  The device will turn on, and immediately the Preferences/Local Date & Time screen appears.  I cannot navigate to the home screen.  I have tried soft resetting, with no luck.
All of the directions I've found online for a hard reset don't work.  It is my understanding that a hard reset is hold power button + reset button until the screen appears.  I've tried holding these two for over 30 seconds and the screen stays blank.
Any suggestions?  Or is it just dead?
I'm not too worried about losing data as I synced not long ago.  Mostly I just want to know if there is a way to get back my Z22 or if I should chuck it and buy a new one.
    Post relates to: Palm Z22

Here are the instructions for performing a hard reset.
A hard reset wipes everything off your palm. A hard reset is performed by holding down the power button while sticking something thin (your stylus, paper clip) into the back reset hole of your device. Keep your hand on the power button while you release the paper clip from the reset hole. The screen will now say "Palm Powered." Take your hand off the power button. You will now see a screen in 5 languages prompting you to erase all data from the palm. The screen will say "erase all data? Yes - up, no - down" and you need to click on the up arrow (silver button on the 5 way navigator on the bottom of the palm). This will erase all the info from your device.

  • Lumia 2520 Touchscreen Unresponsive

Just got the Nokia Lumia 2520 from AT&T.
    Started up the device.
At the "Region and language" screen, the touch screen is completely unresponsive. I cannot hit 'next' or tap any of the drop down menus.
I've tried restarting the device several times.
Is there a workaround or is this device defective?
Since the device has a preloaded SIM and a partial charge, I don't understand how I could be sent a defective device like this from AT&T.

If restarting does not help then it does look like you've been given a defective device. I suggest you return it to AT&T and get a replacement. Chances are it was never switched on by AT&T to test it when they added the sim.
