  • Lumia 830 display flicker

    Hii everyone,
I am facing a display flicker issue on my Lumia 830 on zero brightness setting (upto brightness at 20%)which is easily noticeable in the dark & also slight flicker when set to auto-brightness mode similarly in low -light or dark environment where the display automatically adjusts itself to minimal brightness setting.
As per several threads which I came across the display flicker is universal among all the LUMIA range, starting from 520 or 625,720 to the 1020 or the 930.
Is this a firmware issue which can be neutralized by firmware update or is it an display's hardware problem.
Please enlighten me on this issue.
Note: Display is working absolutely fine on medium to high brightness levels,no issue at all.I love the display on my 830.
Hoping for solution from team NOKIA/MS
    Thanks in advance.

Thanks mate for your valuable feedback.
I will surely try a soft reset or a even hard reset maybe. But currently I am on the "fake" Denim firmware which MS rolled out with the LUMIA 830.The real Denim update is yet to hit my 830 in my region.
So i think updating first to the real denim might eliminate this flickering problem. If not ,then as you mentioned will go with a soft or hard reset.
If the issue still persists then will surely proceed for replacement as the device is under warranty.

  • Display flicker

i have a late 2012 mac mini with display flicker, iv tried installing the firmware update, but its saying its not compatible? Is there any other way to stop the display flicker?

Does it do this all the time, or say only after Sleeping?
Couple of things to try if you haven't...
Have you done a PRAM reset, CMD+Option+p+r...

In fact, do 3 in a row, takes a bit of time.

(SMC reset=  Shut down, disconnect power cord for 10 seconds, reconnect power cord, wait 5 more seconds, turn computer back on)
but it is slightly different:   (PMU REST = Shut computer down, disconnect power cord for 10+ seconds, reconnect power cord WHILE SIMULTANEOOUSLY PRESSING POWER BUTTON, let off power button for a few seconds, then press power button again to restart the mac mini.)

  • Mac mini (late 2014) display Flicking/goes Off and On

    Hi everyone!
Well.. i can say that, this is my first Mac computer and i already have problems. I have read a lots of comments and i have seen that many people experienced this problem with Mac mini, like display corruption, not property colors, flicking, display goes off and back on... or just standing on sleep and not turning on. (like Mac mini 2012 or 2011.. i have read about same issue..) so whats really happen?
So, from the peoples comments i tried possible solutions:
    SMC Reset
I have Reinstalled the OS X Yosemite (complete HDD format)
    I have changed the cable
    (Nothing works)
    Some detail about my connection:
    I have Mac mini (late 2014) i5 2,6GHz dual-core, 8GB ram, Iris Graphics (Intel), 1TB HDD
I have connect it via miniDP to DP > to > Dell UltraSharp U2713HM
    My following issue:
-Screen goes Off and On without reason (mostly happens when i connect my iPhone i have noticed, or maybe just impression..)
-Screen goes to Sleep without reason while i'm on computer (this normally happens after a few off and on screen flickers)
-Image corruption/distortion (after this display goes off and on, or just remaining on sleep.. like not detected
I hope someone can help me with this problem, i just bought it one week ago and i don't know what should i do, because as well i have read that even i'll change it, it can have the same problem.
    Waiting or a response,
    Best regards.

Update: I'm coming back with a possible tip for fixing this issue (I hope Apple Stuff will notice this.)
So, how i said in the previews message.. the Image corruption / and going Off and On the display happens mostly when i'm connecting the iPhone. Theory tested a few times, and take a guess.. it's true.
When i'm connecting the iPhone, the monitor goes crazy.. for some seconds, turning off and on.. and sometimes Image corruption, then coming back like nothing happened. Because i found out this, i was making more tests with the iPhone.
First, erasing the disk and reinstall the OS X again. Everything worked perfectly, until i was connecting the iPhone. I got directly Image corruption and Screen goes Off and On a several times. After this is happening, and you'll unplug the iPhone and put it again, you may not receive again Image corruption or Screen to go Off and On, but after a restart when you'll connect it again, you will receive almost everytime.
So.. after this, i was testing further. I have Paired my iPhone with iMessage and FaceTime, to see if can be a possible issue there also. True again!
Receiving messages from iPhone to Mac / Sometimes display goes Off and On
Receiving a Call via FaceTime to Mac (from your iPhone carrier) / Image corruption / Screen Off and On
After a day of test, i have realise where is the problem. "iPhone connection/Mac"
So, the cable it's good (connection miniDP to DP), by Surfing and by running other Apps i have no problem (at least until now), the only problem what cause the Image corruption and Screen Off/On for several times, it is only because of the connection with the iPhone.
I hope is someone there from Apple Stuff that will take this as notice to solve this problem. Because it is 99% software problem, and i hope it will appear soon enough an Update/Fix.
    Thank you!

  • BootCamp Windows 8.1 Display flicker early 2015 macbook pro 13

I've used the Boot Camp Assistant to install Windows 8 on my early 2015 MacBook Pro 13.  After running windows update and installing Windows 8.1 my display will flicker upon login to the windows partition.   That said I do not experience the flickering screen each time I login to the partition, it is only once in a while, and I've not been able to isolate exactly what happens that causes the screen to flicker (broadwell driver?).
Has anyone experienced this also?  Have you found a method to update the drivers or keep the display from flickering?  I've re-installed the most recent drivers using Boot Camp Assistant before and after the updates had taken place and still experienced the display issue.
Again, it is not every time I login to the windows partition only when I seem to need it most...

Please use Bootcamp Assistant. The new BC drivers are available for 2015 models.

  • Display flicker when connecting external monitor

    Hi all,
Sad to say my first post is regarding a problem I'm having with my new (re-furbished) MBP 15". It's also my first MAC in years.
Starting this past weekend, when I have my Dell 20" LCD hooked up via DVI to the MBP, the display on the MBP will start to flicker, go blurry, show colored lines, etc. Basically, it looks like any other laptop display when they start to go bad.
So, I removed the monitor, ran the HW diagnostics, and found no problems. I ran the laptop by itself all day and had no problems.
Last night I hooked it up again and the same thing happed. The connections are tight and the display on the Dell LCD is perfect. It's on the MBP that freaks out.
    Anyone have any suggestions??
    Thx.

  • Upgrade to 10.4.7 causes severe display flicker

I am running a 15-inch MacBook Pro connected to a 23" cinema HD display.
Since the upgrade to 10.4.7, the laptop screen starts to severely flicker after approximately 3-5 minute, rendering it unusable. Moving a window around (even on the 23") will cause large amounts of flickering; the windows on the laptop screen are duplicated for a split second, and then stabilize until the next display refresh takes place.
The problem disappears after sleeping and waking up the machine, only to resurface after another 3-5 minutes.
Re-installing the 10.4.6 backup fixed the issue. The problem came back after re-upgrading to 10.4.7, and went away again after downgrading to 10.4.6 again.
Is this a 10.4.7 issue, or should I have my machine repaired?
    MacBook Pro 15-inch   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   15" MBP 2.0 GHz w/ 2GB, X1600 with 256 MB

Same problem at my end since i got the MacBook Pro 15/2.16Ghz. On connecting an external display the main screen flickers after 3-5 mins, goes purple (similar to the pics someone posted earlier) and then goes black. Sometimes it comes back for a few mins but eventually both displays freeze - the internal one goes black and teh external one retains whatever picture was on it but no mouse/kbd control is active. I opened a case with Apple 3 days ago and have been troubleshooting it with them. My next step is to revert to 10.4.6 and see if the problem ges away. An interesting twist to this is that my boss has an identical (arrived the same day) Macbook Pro running with an identical external display attached and does NOT have this problem. The difference between our instals is that i run some additional apps such as Ms Office & AdiumX.

  • Macbook pro 15" display flicker/glitch

i got a macbook pro retina last month which has recently started to have some display issues. recently this glitch/flicker has become permanent.  approx 5cm wide and runs down the length of my screen are colored lines. i have attached a picture i took from my ipad of the screen because when i take a screen shot the image is normal...???

    Hi Martyh
Thank you for your message. There is one thing i did not tell you is i got this mac is already two years ago, i just hope they can help me fix it and fees not too expensive.  My appointment is the day after tomorrow. Thanks again.

  • X200 display flicker

  • Display Flicker and Screen Die Outs Randomly

I bought the MacBook Pro with Retina Display and all good stuff, however, it is giving bad flicker problem and screens seems to die suddently at times. I have to shut off the computer and then turn it on again....
This is sad and annoying problem. After paying $3500 for a computer, this is painful.
Can Apple fix this problem easily? Why is Apple not contacting customers and offer to fix this issue?

The most obvious next-step solution I'm trying to avoid in trouble shooting is a clean install...that takes me down for a 1 full day, plus 2-3 days rebuilding my application preferences, plugins, serialization of sofware, etc. (I know I can use the migration assistant, but don't want to "migrate" the trouble back in to a clean system.)
In a Mac Pro, you should have a Boot Drive with only System, Library, Applications, and the hidden unix files including paging/swap. All user files (which includes preferences) should be moved to another drive.
Establishing a Boot Drive is one of the best Speedups you can give your multi-drive Mac. It stops the incessant "snacking" of the system from wrecking data Reads and Writes.
Once you have a Boot Drive, you can switch to a different one (temporarily or permanently) in a few minutes.

  • Display flicker when I open the laptop

    Hello.
I have the 15inch powerbook 1.67 second to last revision. not the DL burner.
When I open the screen i get a slight flicker. this can also happens if I move the screen a little (not always but sometimes) like something is pinched in the hinge.
is there something that I can do or is this an actual problem with the display cable?

First, run Software Update to check whether any updates are available. If not, or if they don't resolve the issue, take the machine to an Apple Store or other authorized service provider for testing.

  • Display flicking problem

I have a strange problem with my Powerbook 12'' G4. When the energy reaches 2%, the screen starts to flick(the brightness slighty increases or decreases rapidly). When i plug the AC adapter, the problem disappears. This is odd, since i haven't noticed anything for the first month after buying it.I have asked another person if they saw something strange in the display, and that person replyed that the screen looked fine.
I don't know if this normal or not, but i think this must be related to a energy problem.

Have you looked for your video card/graphics card information in the Device Manager/Display Adapters of your Window 8 64 bit? Or are you looking somewhere else?
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/where-is-device-manager
That should apply to Windows 8 as well as 8.1 64 bit.
Expand the Display Adapter category to reveal the name of your computer's video card/graphic card. Please tell us the name. But, I am guessing, if you have a HP computer, that the odds are good for your computer using 2 instead of 1 video card/graphics card. If 2, what are their names. The 2 card situation is probably the problem.
    More later.
    Thank you.

  • Macbook pro retina 15" mid 2014 external display flicker randomly black

external display: Acer k272HUL 1440p display.
tested ports: Hdmi, Mini displayport, displayport, thunderbolt to HDMI,
situation: The monitor goes black randomly and recover after several flickers.
workaround: I have a external gpu connected by thunderbolt to pci-express. The monitor works normally with external graphic card.
This is internal graphic card problem, it's independent of which port I am using to connect the external monitor. The problem happens on 1440p monitor. 1080p works fine. The problem happens on maverick and Yosemite.

  • Mac Pro Display flicker & failure to boot

Hello people who are smarter than me.
I have a 2008 Mac Pro 3.2/ 8CX 8800GT with the original Geforce video card installed.  When I turn the machine on I get a grey screen with a black bar at the top, with no evidence of an actual boot (such as a darker grey apple in the middle of the screen.
After a minute or so, the screen retains the form of the black and white horizontal bar at the top but adds a rapidly cycling/strobing organge red and yellow flicker reminiscent of the old Monty Python crazy title screens....  It looks like this if you blink fast enough... or take a still photo.
I live in Haiti, where a fair amount of dust is constantly invading my tower, so I've had dust related issues before with memory... THis time, I don't think it's that.  I've cleaned out the tower with pressurized air, reseated the memory and reseated the video card as well, to no advantage.  The problem first came when the computer was working fine and while my daughter was opening a page on Firefox the screen just started jittering with this little color show.  At the time, though, you could still see the desktop behind all the flickering.  Now the computer doesn't seem to even boot.  If I have to fly to the states to fix this, I'd love to not have to haul the whole machine, so if we can get this down to a couple likely parts that I could travel with, test and replace, that would be great.  This is a hardware issue, right? Would video card failure make sense of this AND the failure to boot?  AND if I do replace it, is the ATI Radeon HD 5770 Graphics Upgrade Kit still the ticket?  If you help me, you'll be helping a lot of Haitians too, as I use this computer for humanitarian work with the Apparent Project.  Help me Obi Geeks, you're my only hope!

Okay, so after doing all of the above, the computer still takes between 40 seconds and 1 minute or so to boot up, and the VersionCue messages still appear. However I discovered that the "kdcmond cannot retrieve..." messages disappeared after I disabled my ethernet connections. So at least I know that that had nothing to do with the extended boot-up time.
I have heard that the more RAM you have, the longer it takes to boot due to the RAM count. Since I have 10 GB, maybe this is why?

  • Why does secondary display flicker after installation of lion?

I use a mini display port to hdmi adapter to host a second display using my samsung HDTV. I've always been able to transfer video and sound easily with snow leopard but since the release of lion, I cannot successfully get video and sound to transfer without multiple attempts at detecting the screens, unplugging and plugging, and turning on and off the tv. Also, when I finally broadcast to my tv, it flickers.
    Any solutions?
I have a MacBook pro (purchased in early 2010) and lion 10.7.1,

Lion could be using CPU resources to index your hard drive and any external drive you have connected to the Mac. If you look at the Spotlight magnifying glass in the top right hand corner and if you see a small dot slowly flashing inside the icon, then that is what is happening. You can even click on the icon to see a message stating what drive is being indexed. This can take some time to complete after you have just installed Lion. Once it has completed then you will notice an operational improvement.
If Spotlight is not indexing but the performance is still slow, then can you give some more information about what you are seeing and what you are expecting. It would also be helpful if you can give us more specification information about your Mac that is running Lion.
