Z30 Loses Wifi Settings on Restart

A few days ago my Verizon Z30 started losing Wifi settings after a restart. After a restart Wifi is off, and all saved connections are gone. This happens consistently after each restart or power off/power on.

Do a backup, then Reload Software with Link and restore, or you can update the OS to 10.3.1.2582 via an autoloader.

  • Lose airport settings after restart

After restarting powerbook, airport settings are changed and can no longer use bonjour printer or see airport express. As instructed by Apple, if I throw out system configuration folder and restart computer, it works fine again until it is shut down, then same problem. There must be a better answer!

I'd love an answer to this, I've had this problem for a while now

  • IPhone Randomly Loses Wifi & Data Capabilities, Must Restart to Fix

So I've had my iPhone 5c for the better half of the year, but all of a sudden the past two or so weeks it has been randomly losing most of its functionalities, and restarting it is the only way I can find to fix it, which can be really annoying.
Here's a little more detail of what happens:
I will be connected to the WiFi at my home, when all of a sudden I cannot load anything involving internet (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or even sending iMessages). Despite the fact that the same WiFi network can be working fine on my Macbook, game consoles, and even other peoples' iPhones at the same time, I always try turning off the WiFi after assuming my WiFi was just down.. Even after completely disabling the WiFi on my phone and trying to use my data (while having 3-5 bars), I cannot load anything or send iMessages still. I've tried resetting my router despite everything indicating that the problem is beyond my WiFi.
And the strangest thing is that it only happens when I'm at my house, even though the problem does not seem to be my WiFi (since after restarting, my phone relies on the WiFi fine).
I would take this to an Apple store but I'm positive I'm going to get the "Reset your iPhone back to factory defaults and lose all your data" answer, which is not the one I'm looking for.

I am experiencing the same issue on my iPhone 5S.  Ever since around when iOS 8.0 was released I've intermittently seen this issue occur at random times.  With mine, it can happen at any time (regardless of the wifi or even LTE network).  Data and phone functions will just completely stop working even though the phone shows no indication.  The only way I find out it stops working is when I receive no data when trying to use several different apps which require network.
The only work-around I've found is to reboot the phone.  I've messed with all network-related settings attempting to remedy the problem prior to rebooting but nothing seems to do the trick.  I've tried resetting all network settings which has not resolved the problem.  My last resort was several days ago when I did a complete factory reset and re-install of the ipsw of iOS 8.1.2 from iTunes.
Seems there's either some sort of software bug or hardware bug occurring here.  I'm currently using Verizon, and I have a friend with an iPhone 5S on Sprint with the exact same symptoms.  Looks like I'll be paying a visit to the Apple Store to see what is happening.  In the meantime I've submitted feedback to Apple and I've installed the baseband profile to try and catch the event logs if/when the error occurs again to submit to Apple as well.
My suspicion is something happened with iOS 8 compatibility and perhaps something on my phone or the services I use is creating a software bug which temporarily kills the radios.

  • Classic printers lose settings on restart

The setting saved for the printers created in Classic with Desktop Printer Utility remember their settings after Classic restart while all those created under OS X and automatically transferred to Classic lose saved settings and get default ones. Setting and saving new settings for OS X printers from under Classic works only until Classic restart.
I was able to trace it down to the LaserWriter prefs file (System Folder:Preferences:Printing Prefs:LaserWriter 8 Prefs), which actually keeps the saved settings but GETS OVERWRITTEN on every Classic restart. Replacing the "new" copy of this file with the "old" one solves the problem, but even if scripted, this is only a workaround, and the question is:
    How to avoid this behavior?
    G4, G5   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

I don't think there is a way to avoid this behavior except with the workaround you discovered. You could do a copy/paste with a resource editor, pasting the resources from the old prefs file into the new one, to ensure you don't lose any information just added, but that's still the same amount of work, if not more.
Sorry to not be of any help.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on the router
    - Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings

  • IPod Touch 3G loses wifi every few seconds

I just purchased a new Touch 3G last night, and every few seconds it loses the wifi connection and reconnects. It does this over and over again consistently. When i go into wifi settings, i can actually see the settings for my wireless disappear, then reappear with a check mark beside it, every few seconds.
I've tried changing broadcast channel in router, from mixed to non-mixed G, resetting the router and iTouch, and release/renew. My laptop and desktop are connecting fine with the wireless, so i assume the issue is with the iTouch.
    3.1.1 OS

Just recently purchased and mine does the same exact thing. Mine seems to show a strong 3 bar connection while in the WiFi settings menu. When I back out to Home, the signal indicator suddenly drops to one bar and will flucuate to 2 or 1 bar. I have done all the tricks mentioned here with my router as well. But in my home I use assigned static IP's. Every setting is correct on the iPod Touch's menu. Im lost as to why it does that.

Did you change the name of your home folder? (That's the house icon in a Finder window.)
If so, you changed your short user name, which creates many problems. See this page for Apple's description of the problem and suggested solution:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107854
There's also a tutorial on recovery here:
    http://www.thexlab.com/faqs/renamehomerecovery.html
Finally, once you are sorted, if you still need to change your short user name, use Dan Frakes' ChangeShortName utility:

    Hope this helps..

  • My G5 loses its settings!

Sometimes when I restart my G5 I lose the settings for some things, the start page in Safari, the Dock i reset to how it was when I first installed it and all my program windows loses the way I set them up.
What is the problem and how do I fix it?

I read your post wrong. Your problem is on your G5 & not your laptop. The laptop has a rechargable battery, but your G5 does not. Look in your G5 Users Manual for the battery type.

  • Losing Wireless Mouse & Keyboard Settings on Restart

Every time I restart my MacBook Pro, I lose my settings for my wireless mighty mouse and the set functions for buttons like F12 (Dashboard) etc. I have to reselect them periodically, sometimes twice before restarting. I noticed two ButtonManager.app items on my login items N067U and N124U. Could that be the problem?

I've got the same issue. Any solutions?
    thanks.

  • My iPad 2 loses wifi connection on home network?

My iPad 2 loses wifi connection at home, iPhone remains constant and macbook remains constant. iPad rechecks every couple of minutes, then about every 15min or so loses connection, then I have to reselect network. Wifi is working on husbands iPad and iPhone without problem... suggestions?
Is a pain while surfing - suddenly get the "no internet connection", have to exit and go to settings and reselect the network. Frequently takes more than one attempt to reconnect.
    Thanks

Try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.

  • My MBA indicates my connection is timing out. My wifi on other laptops work in the house. Diagnostics indicate wifi settings failed, network settings failed, ISP failed, Internet failed, and server failed. What can I do?

My MBA indicates my connection is timing out. My wifi on other laptops work in the house. Diagnostics indicate wifi settings failed, network settings failed, ISP failed, Internet failed, and server failed. What can I do?

Take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried, until the problem is resolved. Some of these steps are only possible if you have control over the wireless router.
    Step 1
Turn Wi-Fi off and back on.
    Step 2
Restart the router and the computer. Many problems are solved that way.
    Step 3
Change the name of the wireless network, if applicable, to eliminate any characters other than letters and digits. You do that on your router via its web page, if it's not an Apple device, or via AirPort Utility, if it is an Apple device.
    Step 4
    Run the Network Diagnostics assistant.
    Step 5
In OS X 10.8.4 or later, run Wireless Diagnostics and fix the issues listed in the Summary, if any.
    Step 6
    Back up all data.
Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the icon grid.
Enter the name of your wireless network in the search box. You should have one or more "AirPort network password" items with that name. Make a note of the name and password, then delete all the items. Quit Keychain Access. Turn Wi-Fi off and then back on. Reconnect to the network.
    Step 7
You may need to change other settings on the router. See the guidelines linked below:
Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    Potential sources of interference
    Step 8
Make a note of all your settings for Wi-Fi in the Network preference pane, then delete the connection from the connection list and recreate it with the same settings. You do this by clicking the plus-sign icon below the connection list, and selecting Wi-Fi as the interface in the sheet that opens. Select Join other network from the Network Name menu, then select your network. Enter the password when prompted and save it in the keychain.
    Step 9
Reset the System Management Controller (SMC).

  • Sleep loses wifi

My iPad uses wifi just fine but when I leave it in sleep mode or power it off it loses wifi and I have to go back in to wifi settings and set it back up again from the beginning, telling it to forget the connection and set that connection back up because it won't use it again.

Not to threadjack or anything, I just want to confirm I appear to have the same problem.
I have started to experience this issue in the last week or so now, where I can put the iPad to sleep (or it does it on its own) and when I wake it and go about using it, as usual, there is no network correction?
I have to go to preferences and reconnect through the network settings.
The other thing I seem to observe is that from time to time it will drop the connection (very) briefly while in use? This within 10 feet of the router and 100% signal strength.
Nothing has changed as far as network hardware, settings, no additional systems, ... Router is a DLink DIR655 with SSID visible. WPA password. Mixed NG mode.
