Z400 workstation AHCI BIOS settings not installed

Hi guys,
Is there anyone that can help me change my current settings which are AHCI not installed when i boot to AHCI installed. I cant find this in BIOS..
Do i need to upgrade my BIOS ?

Fasttrak BIOS: "Bios is not installed"

The problem: A cold cathode inverter went up in smoke and part of the computer caught fire. Luckily, nothing major was damaged. Just a few wires burned through. I taped up the wires that look with electric tape and disconnected thes stuff that looked bad.
The problem that caused: When drives are connected to the promise controller. It does not recognize any drives. It simply says "BIOS is not installed". Will a BIOS flash re-install the promise BIOS or is that irreperable? If a BIOS flash would do it, what's the best way to flash the BIOS (which parameters do I use & what not).
Any help as to why this is doing htis would be greatly appreciated.
P.S. The BIOS constantly forgets it's settings and says "CMOS checksum error, BIOS defaults loaded". I replaced the battery, disconnected the AC cord, and I'm waiting till tomorrow to turn it back on again to see if the new battery fixed the problem. If it doesn't, sounds like I need to RMA the motherboard, no?
BTW. I can RMA the motherboard because it was not damaged the slightest bit in the fire. The fire was very small and the radius of the "inferno" didn't go anywhere near the board. Which is why I don't understand why I'm getting this error. I wonder if just being disconnected for so long caused the battery to burn out. Anyway, to make a long story short, I hope it was just a dead battery and not a FUBAR board.

i bet you have no drives attatched to it
so it does not install its bios
and it tells you this

Error "No drive attached to fastrack controller, the bios is not installed"

Having recently purchased a K7N2 Delta mainboard I now get the above error displayed during bootup. Shortly after the message has been displayed the windows boot process hangs.
What have I done wrong or what havn't I done right?
My system spec is:
Athlon 2500xp
80 gig Maxtor HDD
1024 DDR ram (single stick)
XP Professional
N-vidia graphics 440

Am I to understand from this that your trying to boot the same hard drive using two different motherboards? If so - I'm not surprised it doesn't boot! It is advisable to do a full and new install of your OS - to your HD - when installing a new board.
You can't just move a hard drive from one machine to another and hope a boot will be successful (this can only be done when the motherboard and or add-ons are the same or very similar).

ITunes install issues (registry settings not installed)

After getting the errors (I think 1290) where it couldn't start the bonjour service I got that fixed. The install went forward and I would see the itunes short cut appear on the desk top. Then it would disappear and so would the folders ipod and itunes from the program files folder. I could watch them appear, once the install finished they would disappear. Finally I looked in services and saw the bonjour servicing was in a stopping state. I tried to look at the properties and recieved this...
"Error 1060: specified service does not exist as an installed service" Clicking ok got me to this error
"Configuration Manager: A required entry in the registry is missing or an attempt to write to the registry failed"
Also, their initial attempts to install iTunes 5 currupted the CD-ROM drives.
*NOTE this is not my computer... stupid winbl... windows As always my iBook works perfectly!
Can anyone tell me how to fix this problem, it seems to be the installer is corrupt... also need advice how to fix the cd-rom, the lite-on drivers will not reinstall.

I've never seen that error, so why don't we get a log file from the installer and send that to the Apple engineers.
1. Turning on some advanced logging by creating a new file in your "Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Temp" folder with the name "QTInstallerLauncher.log". You might have to turn on "show hidden files" to find this folder. (Right click "my computer", select open, select Tools menu -> Folder Options. Select View tab, "show hidden files" radio button is in the center scrolling panel.)
2. Start menu -> Run... In the text field of the dialog that comes up, type in "cmd" and hit return.
3. In the command prompt dialog that comes up, find the Quicktime standalone installer on your desktop and drag it to this window. Then on the same line type in a space and then the following:
/Verbose"c:\log.txt"
There is no space between the e in Verbose and the double quote (").
4. Hit return.
5. The installer will create a log file:
C:\log.txt
and a file called:
"Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Temp\QTPluginInstaller_9999.log" (number may differ). You may have multiple files like this..... Send them all, or at least the most recent ones.
Find those files and send them to the apple moderator. Tell her Toonz sent you. It doesn't hurt to put the URL to this discussion thread, so that whoever gets it has some context.
And it's perfectly reasonable to just have UpperFilters and not LowerFilters, but you need to tell me what's in the UpperFilters.

Best BIOS settings for installing XP Home

Dear mobo PT880 owners - which are best settings in bios of MSI PT880 for installing windows xp home ?
my setup:
PT880
PIV-2,8 E
Maxtor diamond plus
2X512 mb Kingston ddr
Default settings seem the best, however, as soon as I see grafic interface of xp
setup is started again and again and again.........setup XP is suggesting to disable
caching in memory........which results in a setup procedure of many hours....

Thats normal, there are several options on that post screen. After a Bios update the system is set back to factory default. You will need to set up Bios again, best use the safe defaults, and set the boot sequence to suit your machine. Remember to save the settings before rebooting.

MSI-6565 "BIOS NOT INSTALLED"

Running a MSI-6565 with a PCI IDE Raid card using Raid 0 with 2 Maxtors. No hard drives attatched to the board itself. The system boots and runs fine. However, i cannot enter the Bios. I'm getting an error, "No drive attached to the FastTrack Controller. The Bios was not installed" Any thought on how to get into the Bios? Thanks, Chad

That's the o/b RAID bios. Enter the main bios and disable the o/b RAID since your not using it.

I had the problem outlined in this thread here with the msg that BIOS was not installed, the only difference was that my computer wouldnt boot at all after and would get stuck on the No SATA devices found screen.

I followed their advice, reset CMOS to get into BIOS and turned off the 2 SATA options.
Now when I reboot I get the MSI logo screen and then my monitor flicks off and on, and then I get a black screen with a white blinking dot in the top left corner.
Any ideas?

PT880 Bios Setting Not Correct After Bios Flash

Hey guys. Flashed bios from 1.1 to beta 1.5 and am now experiencing this problem. I get the message Bios settings not correct. After loading defaults all I get is my monitor going in to "sleep" mode. The only way to get PC to post is to clear the CMOS jumper. I find it odd that my PC booted to Windows fine with 1.1 and now this problem. The reason I flashed to beta is because I have a 2.4a prescott and heard that the beta is more compatible. Any ideas?

Good point about letting it sit----and then it will finally reboot after about a minute----back to FSB 200---this worked for me a couple of times.
In Bios-----one of the tricks I did was to set the DDR to 466 and 500 and then see how that affected other bios settings----without going ahead and posting.
It showed me that it jumped up my voltages on AGP, VDIMM and Northbridge (and I think soutbridge as well)
Anyway----went back into bios and reset the DDR to 400----1:1----then raised all those voltages---then set my FSB up to about 230. That was really about the highest I could get with any stability. And that just doesn't cut it with a 2.4c which I've known to easily overclock to around 3.2 on an 875 or 865 board.
That's why I think a 3.0c is a good chip for this VERY inexpensive board. At 230 FSB You are doing 3.45 Mghtz which ain't too shappy
Best timings for me were Cas 2.5 4,4,8 and changing the Vlink settings really did nothing that I could tell for performance or stability.

Is there a list of all the bios settings (not the normal manual, which came with the board), that are the best safest for this motherboard.
I have this board with a 2400 Athlon CPU.
Already flashed to the latest bios (i think 1.6..)

optimal settings are hard to pinpoint for a board because of the individual hardware. Some RAM can be run at aggressive timings like 2-2-5-2 with 4 way bank interleave/1T timings/Ultra Timings. Other's cannot.
AGP seems to be the best at 128mb aperture, fast writes enabled (if vid card supports it, nVidia's do).
PCI Busmaster enabled
32bit transfer mode enabled for the hard drives
System bios cacheable disabled
the list could go on but it's really a matter of trial and error.

How do you install windows 7 in UEFI mode and what bios settings do I need to install it on a D30 workstation.

Not a ThinkStation guy, but FWIW, that can happen when installing Win 7 in UEFI mode when CSM support is not enabled in BIOS.
Is CSM support - either explicit or by selecting "other OS" and turning UEFI back on as suggested above - an option?

System Update Flash BIOS Update "Did not install"

Twice now I have experienced a problem using TVSU to update BIOS (Versions 1.58.0.0 and 1.59.0.0) in my ThinkCentre M92p. Each time the BIOS installs, but the message in the TVSU System Update "View installation history" window shows the Status as "Did not install." What could be causing this?

If you installed this standalone, which you should. Your will probably see a failure 0162 which is normal per documentation. If this a Fail condition, i dont know. My Bios is older.

I am amazed to see su offer a bios update. ( power goes out, battery dead on laptop). This is a very senstitive update. .....The reposistory stuff I posted is just to peruse, look for 1.58. This is the SU package( written in xml. ). Not the acutal update.
I extracted your Flash code. No 1.58 anywhere.

download package for SU to use.. <wax (xml)
then actual download of package. What you can download manualy is not the same software Su is given.

SU is given a xml file (text), to process to determine if update is needed.
Then it downloads the update, if you choose to install it.
Your symptom shows 2 versions of BIOS 1.58/1.59 did not install.   Crazy.

Maybe it got thru the xml package, and installed. then 0162. It worked correctly, but posted WRONG on your SU history. Either or, what you see on your screen sucks. 1.58/1.59, etc.

ICH5R - bios not installed?

Sorry if I am going over old ground but I assume I get this message on boot up as I have no Serial ATA devices? It saus 'No devices found' then 'BIOS not installed' and boots just fine.
Just want to make sure this is not a problem with the board?

You really should use the search function of this board before posting. The boards are full of the same questions asked over and over. This would be a better approach then asking the question again and then saying your sorry. 8)
It would also really help if you posted how many, the type of drives you are using(PATA or SATA), whether they are set up RAID or not, and finally how are they connected.
With out this info it is hard to give you a precise answer but I will take a shot. :P
If you have no devices attached to the Intel SATA disable it in the bios. It is under the integrated peripherals section "On chip IDE configuration".
If you have a PATA drive or drives connected on the Promise controller disable SATA on the controller.
Double check that the promise controller is set for the proper mode "P-ATA only"
Just look through the bios settings boot section carefully.
Post more specific info on your configuration if you require further assistance.
