Z500 y Windows 10

  • Z500 and Windows 10

Hi. I own a Z500 Touch which, excepting Bluetooth only works when my PC is reboot (I don't know why), the laptop goes really well.Today is the day when W10 release. I've been watched and Lenovo says my laptop is not on the list of the recommended PC to upgrade (https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/ht103535). The PC neither appeared on the list to upgrade W8.1 and, despite that, the computer works perfectly (not the Bluetooth, as I said).Lenovo hasn't realeased any kind of update or new driver for the laptop in a official way (http://support.lenovo.com/es/es/products/laptops-and-netbooks/ideapad-z-series-laptops/ideapad-z500-touch-notebook?tabName=Downloads%29,), at the moment at least.I'd like to know if you recommend me to update or not update, because I'm afraid of apps like Energy Management stop working correctly, or drivers like the wi-fi one, in spite of the compatibility test from Get Windows 10 said that my PC can run the new SO with no problem. If someone has tried with this laptop Windows 10 or has any idea, I'd be glad to hear it.Thanks in advance.

As a follow up on the issues that I encountered (Reposting from another thread) here is what I did:
Intel graphics card => I reinstalled the windows 8.1 driver from lenovo site. Use the version 10 as version 9 would make your graphics switching off. Do not use the generic lenovo driver automatically installed by Win 10 as you will have brightness issues.
Problem with touchpad (Elan) = Generic Elan driver installed by windows should work but most options would be disabled. To re-enable these options open this via Regedit:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Elantech\SmartPadDisplay
and make all options to 1. This will temporarily make all the options available when you open Elan touchpad options( Control panel -> mouse settings -> touchpad Tab or just right click on Elan on taskbar icon tray. Adjust to your preference.
Audio driver= Audio drivers (Realtek)= Generic drivers work all fine but I suggest using the Windows 8.1 driver from lenovo support site. But if you want to get your Dolby Home theater back, uninstall your sound drivers from Uninstall programs and Device manager and reinstall the realtek audio drivers from your lenovo recovery partition (drive D).
Lenovo Hotkeys - make sure you installed the latest BIOS drivers from support site. It makes your BIOS have the option to enable/disable hotkeys (you get your function keys back and the hotkeys accessible by pressing fn key)
Bluetooth (Atheros) - I perceived no difference when using the autoinstalled driver versus using the win8.1 driver. Just go with what works. Bluetooth should be accessible using the Windows 10 start menu.
Webcam (Realtek Easycam)- autoinstalled driver is buggy. Which is weird as autoinstalled driver from Win8.1 used to work fine. Also updating via youcam site wasn't allowed by windows10 as the certificates were expired. What I did was reinstalled the driver from Lenovo Recovery Partition (drive D) and it finally worked. But I don't use the webcam so much so I'm not sure if there will still be problems.

  • Z500 reboot loop due to USB/ dual boot Linux

Hello, The issue is that if plug in USB (or mobile phone) and then turn on the laptop it will load up to lenovo loading screen and then start flashing after which it restarts and keeps doing that over and over again until I unplug the USB. Normally, I would not care because if i plug the USB in after the laptop loads it works fine. But I want to dual boot ubuntu and with USB not booting up I can not do that. Also, if i try the boot from USB option it does the same thing and after plugging the USB out it says: "System doesn't have any USB boot option. Please select other boot option in Boot Manager Menu." And then opens the boot manager. Laptop is Lenovo Z500 running Windows 8.1, I've disabled the secure boot and fast boot, and USB boot is enabled. Thanks in advance.

Try giving Acpi=off during boot time in the kernel parameter, that might help?
    Cheers and regards,

  • Lenovo Z510 Windows 10 upgrade query

My Lenovo Z510 laptop came pre-installed with Windows 8.1 Single Language Home edition OEM version.I reserved my Windows 10 upgrade using the GWX(Get windows 10) app & now the upgrade files are downloading. My question is..1.how my windows will re reactiavted after upgrading it to Windows 10?? As i am an OEM windows 8.1 user, i don't know the key,the Key is embedded in the BIOS.So how windows 10 will be activated ? will it be  activated automatically? 2.After upgradation if i want to perform recovery in future due to my HDD crash or some other reason, how the recovery can be performed? In that case after the recovery will it be windows 8.1 or windows 10? 3.After the upgradation, did anyone face any problem regarding drivers ?or any other problems? Anyone who has upgraded to windows 10 from windows 8.1 OEM please share your experience. Thanks in Advance :

    1) Microsoft makes true its promise on that department. No issues there. You just upgrade and login via MS account. But if you wan't to be really safe (or you would be installing manually) you can recover your OEM key by using third party programs. You can google it your self but for reference I use a program called OEMkey (convenient huh?).
    2) I'm not sure but Onekey recovery is a standalone feature of the laptop so it doesn't matter what OS you have. As long as the partition is not damaged you can, in theory, always recover your laptop. The downsize is that the hidden partition will only install back to windows 8 (not even 8.1). A solution to this would be to create a backup image of your current OS using the Onekey Recovery program (hope you didn't uninstalled it, but then you can always download the latest version). Downside is that it's gonna take up at least 30GB of space (if OS only without the other programs)

  • Lenovo z510 windows 10 upgradation issue

Hey there... once again I'm back with another issue on z510. Guess as long as it's with me, it's not gonna stop creating problems for me. But, I'm still madly in love with this machine, SORRY my machine. Actually, got this windows 10 upgrade reservation message earlier, so I did reserve it, and later, after it got released I tried upgrading it. Including today this was 6'th time I let my computer do upgrading process. Every time after it has done complete upgrading, it reverts back to 8.1 I dont get any error message, no compatibility issues.. What could be causing this...? And how am I gonna deal with this, any idea, anybody out there...? I tried to upgrade thru usb  also, and then it was started in win 10. It made me so happy.. But soon after doing all sign up and other setting, when I restarted it... same it was back to windows 8.1 after a long hold of dark black screen. Thanks in adv..

  • Is it possible to install Windows 7 on UEFI Lenovo Z500?

The basic premise is I try to dual boot the Z500 from its current Windows 8 preinstalled with an additional Windows 7.
So here's what I already did:
    1. Turn off fast booting from Windows 8
    2. Turn off secure booting from BIOS (so that it can boot with DVD)
    3. Leave UEFI mode on
    4. Boot from DVD
Now, I've done extensive research into it, and have known for a fact that the preinstalled windows 8 was on GPT drive, and therefore the same goes with the additional partition for Win 7 installation. And since GPT drive can only use UEFI booting (the other option being Legacy/CSM boot for MBR drive), then that's what I'd like it to stay.
But the trouble is even though the DVD did goes into booting, it still freeze on Windows 7 starting screen.
From multiple other sources, I can derive the culprit that says, even though Windows 7-64 bit can run in UEFI booting, it can't run in the new VGA BIOS (UEFI graphic protocol: GOP). And those sources says to force the UEFI to load old Legacy VGA BIOS ROM. Therefore, they can have Windows 7 running in UEFI boot on GPT drive but with old VGA ROM.
Now the question is: Where is that switch in Z500 BIOS???
Or is it only can be done by hacking method? If there's any hacking method at all, please share.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    What Graz said.
You'll need to enable CSM support to boot Win 7 in UEFI mode.

  • Lenovo z500 non touch windows 10 issues

hello hello! I just upgraded my lenovo z500 non-touch to windows 10, and i've been experiencing some problems. first, which is the most annoying, my start menu wont come up, i restarted a number of times and i tried the thing you copy in powershell and still didnt work. and also my brightness level is stuck, if i hit the + or - brightness on keyboard the brightness level meter on my screen changes but the actual brightness level of my screen doesnt move. task manager works, i restarted explorer.exe and sometimes start menu will come out and sometimes it wont, even if i restart the laptop its still a hit or miss. as for the brightness i tried updating and rollback display drivers and still didnt work. can anyone there help me? thanks in advance and have a great day!

Make sure Windows has updated entirely. As it is a brand new operating system, there will be some bugs . Microsoft released a 1GB patch and that might solve some issues for you. Just search Update in Cortana and select the Windows Update/Settings option, then check for updates and install them.

  • Lenovo Z500 Intel Graphics and Function Keys problem on Windows 10

Hi.i have a problem with Windows 10 upgrade. My Model Is Lenovo Z500.  6Gb Ram.  Intel 3230m.  Nvidia GT740m.Since the upgrade to Windows 10 the brightness is at full and i cant dim it,it's always the same.and there are two more problems.second one is my shortcut function keys(Fn + F buttons) don't work :bluetooth, touchpad, turn off screen, refresh etc... .Only buttons that work are for volume and for brightness that dont do anything when i try to lower it down but it shows in upper left corner that the keys are responding. And the third problem is i cant duplicate my display but only can extend .As far for the other stuff everything is smooth and fast.even my games got bigger FPS, for example "Counter Strike Global Offensive". I would like to know if there is fix for brightness and for duplicate screen problem regarding graphics driver, and for my function keys regarding keyboard. Thanks and  i hope for quick response. I know Windows 10 just came out and i know you are at full capacitity for solving everyone's problem but i hope you'll look into this because i'm not the only one with this problems.

    Hi phitbull,
Are all the hotkeys on your SL500 not working, or they are simply not displaying the controls on-screen? (ie. increase, decrease or mute will display on screen). It may be possible that you are missing out on some drivers for your system. If you look around the forums, there are many posts on users experiencing hotkey issues, mainly due to missing pre-requisite drivers. You can find a handful of drivers in the Lenovo Support website's Windows 7 BETA page at the following URL:
    http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=WIN7-BETA
Perhaps you can give this a try:
    1. Install the Lenovo System Interface Driver (v1.01):
    http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=WIN7-BETA#sid
    2. Install the Hotkey drivers (which installs OnScreen Display v5.32.00 and ThinkPad FulLScreen Magnifier v2.07)
    http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=WIN7-BETA#atkh
Hope the above helps with your issues.

  • Z500 PROBLEMAS RECUPERAR/INSTALAR WINDOWS 8

¿Qué solución me dan?

  • Z500 brightness problems Windows 8.1

Hello,I open this post to report a brightness problem on Lenovo Z500 Ideapad. Yesterday I've upgraded to OS Windows 8.1 and when I adjusted the screen brightness it goes off, and brightness adjust function doesn't works. I've solved my problem reinstalling the Intel video drivers, downloaded from Lenovo Driver Support. It seems that Windows 8.1 upgrade disables video drivers.I hope this fix can help someone else with same problem. Look for a solution on internet with brightness off kills your eyes.

This solution is everything but sustainable! I've bought the Lenovo z500 precisely to work on the video editor CyberLink PowerDirector 11. But this softwares requires the latest driver update of my video driver... otherwise it will not work properly (see "green screen issue": http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/16190.page). Yesterday, I've upgraded my laptop with the latest video card driver and the PowerDirector finally worked perfectly. But then came the Z500 brighness issue, where I am required to downgrade my video card to fix it!!! Which means I won't be able to use PowerDirector although this is the reason why I purchased it! So what do I do? (((( Isn't there another way to firx the brightness issue? Thanks for any advice Robert

  • Lenovo Z500 touch brightness adjustment not working after Windows 10 update

Hi, i recently updated to Windows 10 and immediately noticed that the brightness of my laptop could not be adjusted. i had a similar problem when updating to Windows 8.1 but managed to solve it by downloading video drivers from the following link: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds031547  I tried the same method to solve my current problem but it only works temporarily, as the next time i turn my laptop on, i have the same problem. Is anyone experiencing the same problem and has anyone found a permanent fix, because it's getting quite annoying. Thank you.

The intel HD graphics bundled with windows 10 seems to be buggy and in beta for now. so i guess we just have to wait for intel/microsoft to make a final release

  • Where are LETOOLS for USB? The "ADB" Driver does not work with Windows XP

I just give up with Lenovo's arcane maze of endlessly-looping driver searches.  I managed somehow to get something called an "ADB Driver" which was supposed to allow Windows XP to recognize my tablet as a K1 Ideapad.  I downloaded the 8+mb file which installed fk knows where and plugged in my K1 tablet.  Windows recognized that it had a USB device, and when prompted to hunt for the driver (which of course I couldn't find, since Lenovo sent it into the ether) I had to back out and then hunt through my entire Windows directory for an inf file containing the word "Android".
For the unsuspecting, it hides in something called -- get ready for it -- OEM16.
I guess the L, N and V keys were missing on the keyboard of the moron who labeled this pos driver.  Oh good programming Lenovo NOT but since a chimpanzee programmed Lenovo's driver site I suppose it's of a piece that a baboon packaged this worthless driver.  This isn't an eCommerce site it's a zoo.
I guess it was too difficult for Lenovo to include a CD with their Windows USB driver family on it.  I mean . . . that would have cost them $.0000002.  Jesus wept.
All I want to do is have XP know that the "USB Human Interaction" device I have plugged in is my K1 Lenovo tablet.  Don't send me to Google for a USB/Windows Android driver, they direct everyone to the site of the manufacturer of the tablet.  And don't insult my intelligence by even countenancing the possibility that Google's arch rival would stoop to offer any means for their OS to talk to (cough hack) Android.
I get that it has to be a Lenovo driver and/or program.  So where the f is it? because this is massively pissing me off.  And one other thing:  No link to Lenovo.  I don't appreciate being manipulated by Lenovo's flash crap only to land on a driver download site that says "We can't find it."
No.  Direct me please to any non-lenovo download portal that has the most recent version of LETOOLS and hope I don't have to come back here with yet more frustration.  This is the most needlessly idiotic driver service I have ever had the misfortune of being tethered to and I hope never to have to engage with it ever again.  May I please know where LETOOLS can be downloaded?  Thank you.

    Hi know-vo,
I'm sorry that you couldn't find LETools. I've cheked with internal team and was told that actually we do have the software, but it's called "Synchronization Software". Did you try that?
If you browse to ADB Driver page by clicking "Learn More" in support site, there is a note indicating that this ADB driver works with Synchronization Software.
Sorry for all the inconvenience caused and. I hope this info above helps.
