I Have Found a way to downgrade from 5FCN95WW to 5FCN35WW The Update Has Bugs So You want to downgrade the Original Disclaimer: I am not responsible for any damage on your machine. When you manipulate the BIOS, things may go sour. What you need:- Phoenix UEFI Winflash 1.5.66- An old BIOS-Update (5FCN35WW.exe)Both Avaiable at [Phoenix UEFI Winflash 1.5.66] +[5FCN35WW] Download Step 0: Connect Battery and Power Cord to your Laptop and close all applications you do not need. Step 1: Install Phoenix UEFI Winflash 1.5.66:Plain and simple. Follow the steps on screen. Program should be installed unter C:\ProgramFiles (x86)\UEFI Winflash. Remember this location. Step 2: Get the WPH-FileRun the old BIOS-Update. The program will halt with some error, telling you something about secure capsules. Ignore it, but do not close the program. Navigate to C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Local\Temp\ExtractTemp. Here you will find the file 5FCN35WW.WPH. Copy that file and paste it into the installation-directory of UEFI Winflash. Close the BIOS-Update. Step 3:Get flashing:Open a console (Windows-Key + R -> cmd). Navigate into the installation-directory of UEFI Winflash:>cd "C:\Program Files (x86)\UEFI Winflash" And now execute the following command:>winflash.exe /sv /sn /force bkfp bkoa3 /ipf bios ec /file 5FCN35WW.WPH Some dialogues may pop up, notifying you that some of the arguments are invalid. Just click "ok". The program should now start flashing your BIOS. This may take some time (up to 5 minutes). After this, the system should reboot and you are back on version 5FCN35WW. I myself hav an IdeaPad Z580. Please let me know whether you were able to downgrade your BIOS with this method.

Hey djwillis88,
Thanks for the reply buddy.
Now if you already downloaded the drivers and it didn't work, the next step would be a system restore.
Here is a document to help you out with that. Select the option " Restore windows to a previous point" at the top.

Make sure and back up any files you have recently saved or downloaded (pictures, music or saved documents) you've installed.

  • NEW BIOS UPDATE - Fixed buzzing sound from GPU?

It says it fixed the buzzing sound near speaker and battery when on battery power. Could this be the issue that people with the Intel Proccesor have when on battery power it makes a noise?

    Hello,
I don´t exactly know, if the bios update disable C4 states, to prevent buzzing.
But if so, you´ll probably loose battery life, cause the cpu would´t get into lower power states.
May be the fan (link in german) will be running more often, to keep the Nvidia chip cooler, also.
I think if your TP suffers from whine, then give it a try or wait, till someone could tell us here
    about his experience.

  • Q180 Bugs for possible BIOS update/Fix

Okay it seems that the Q180 is a buggy little devil and it seems some of the more annoying and bizzare issues could well be fixed with a BIOS update.
Please list below any pet peeves you have that could well require looking at and including in a BIOS update.
If ever one is ever to appear.
    Some for starters -
Bizzare analogue audio wont function if install DVD booted in anything other than legacy mode.
    Strange suspend/shoutdown behaviour.
    No AHCI option for SATA.
No CPU/GPU/RAM tweaking (c'mon guys these Atom machines need all the help they can get!)

  • Tecra 8000: Does Bios Update enable booting from USB?

    Hello
    I have Toshiba Tecra 8000 (PentiumII 266MHZ)
Will this bios bios-t8000-930-trad.zip (08/26/02) enable boot from USB ?

    Hi
Im not sure about that. Your BIOS version is 020 but on the Toshiba website I have found a BIOS version 9.30. Well, it seems that this version is newer but Im not sure if it allows you to use the 40GB HDD.
Some Tecra 8000 models were delivered with a 14 GB HDD. In my opinion it should be possible to use a 20 or maybe a 30 GB HDD but its difficult to say if the bigger HDD size will work.
You can ask the professional HDD dealer or a ASP for further informations.

  • Dell Venue 11 Pro (5130 64Bit) BIOS update in WinPE 5.1 x64

I have encountered an issue while trying to upgrade BIOS on Dell Venue 11 Pro (5130 64Bit) in WinPE 5.1 (64-bit). To pre-empt any questions why not use BIOS update option available from boot menu: while it may be quite elegant solution for home use, it doesn't fit well in production environment where the action needs to be repeated hundreds of times, custom audit trail required and some other (automated) post-upgrade tasks need to happen.
After running the executable I receive the following error message:
The subsystem needed to support the image type is not present.
This would point to 32/64 bit application incompatibility and/or limitations of WinPE itself. I have following packages present in my image, as well as CCTK HAPI installed:
    Feature Name
    SMB1Protocol
    WinPE-HTA
    WinPE-WMI
    WinPE-NetFx
    Microsoft-Windows-NetFx-Shared-Package-WinPE
    WinPE-PowerShell
    WinPE-DismCmdlets
    WinPE-SecureBootCmdlets
    WinPE-SecureStartup
    WinPE-TPM
    WinPE-Scripting
    WinPE-WDS-Tools
    WinPE-EnhancedStorage
Unfortunately I cannot run the update from a "proper" copy of Windows as we need to upgrade BIOS for one of our customers without installing OS (we are shipping devices with default Dell preloaded version of Windows). The way I see it, before I am forced to go down the route of upgrading BIOS from boot menu, I have two options:
    - Get a grip of what the exact issue is in x64 PE. Would anyone be able to help out here? Is this something I can fix by adding any components to my PE image?
    - Try running update in x86 PE (I believe the executable is 32-bit despite "64bit" string in the name). Currently I can only boot using x64 image as BIOS is set to UEFI mode. I am reluctant to change boot mode to Legacy just to give it a go. Will I be able to safely go back to UEFI without any additional recovery work? I am not intending to change the contents of the HDD. Also will cctk be able to change boot mode back to UEFI automatically, or will I have to implement it as a manual step at the end of the process?
Due to other restrictions and time scales involved Windows To Go is not an option as well. Any help with this will be much appreciated.

The issue is that the subsystem required to support 32bit apps does not exist in the WinPE 64bit, and there is no way to add it.  You'll either have to use WinPE 32bit, or update your BIOS after the OS has been installed.  Other manufacturers provide x64 BIOS update executables, so I don't know why Dell can't get their act together and do the same.

What does ME version show under BIOS currently? When you check the ratio under OS, do you put your system under loading? And did you re-install driver from website after updating BIOS?
    http://www.msi.com/support/mb/Z68AGD65_G3.html#support_download
ME version 8.1.2.1318. Even if I put the system at 100% load in Windows, the processor never moves past 3.4 GHz. I've checked this in multiple programs (CPUZ, RealTemp, TMonitor, etc.) And yes, I reinstalled the drivers that were listed under the BIOS update.

Go to OC section and change to advanced mode, change your CPU Ratio Mode from Dynamic to Fixed mode.
And go to windows checking the ratio have changed or not.
EDIT: sorry, I forgot this motherboard doesn't have this settings, try Disabled or Enable "Adjust CPU Ratio in OS"
I've tried changing that setting (Adjust CPU Ratio in OS) but it doesn't seem to have any effect.
However, I just noticed that I didn't have the newest version of CPUZ. I updated it and now it shows more detailed information for the multiplier: x34 (16-44)
So it is detecting that I have set it to 44 in Windows after all. But it seems to be indicating that it's using a dynamic CPU ratio of 16-44 - which I don't want, I want it fixed at 44 - but as you say, there's no option for dynamic/fixed on my motherboard. However, on the old v23.7 BIOS, if I set it to 44 it stayed at 44 always.
Even if it's using a dynamic ratio for some reason, it's not doing that right either because it's still never moving past 3.4 GHz (nor is it ever dropping below 3.4 GHz).

  • Long bios load time with gtx970 - maybe need gpu bios update?

I just installed my gtx 970 and it all runs fine.  However I get a very long bios load time on boot up.  Normally it only takes a second or two with a single beep.  With the 970 though I get the single beep and the bios load screen, but it sits at that screen for a long time, then another beep, waiting, eventually another beep, and after some more waiting windows will start to load.
My problem is that now I can also no longer get in to the bios. I have tried even plugging in a ps/2 keyboard to see if maybe that could get me in.  The farthest I get after hitting delete to enter is I just end up at a black screen. My mobo has no onboard gpu output, so its not like its trying to go to a monitor I cant see.
So would any gpu bios updates fix this? I am currently at the latest bios for my board which updated it to a uefi bios.

Under bios features, is there a option called boot mode select?
Try to switch to "legacy only", save and reboot.
Are you using HDMI connector? Try to use DVI.
    Sorry for my english!
I dont remember seeing any boot mode select.  As far as connections I am using all DVI for my monitors. I have also tried only having a single one connected in case there were issues with multiple monitors

with those old boards, you need ME8 to works with modern cards
    ask gigabyte support about it
Thanks Ill try emailing them.  Is ME8 some other bios? Just never heard of it before
    -edit
After reading up it looks like it was just a revision to allow ivy bridge devices, which happened a long long time ago on a bios update:
Support Intel 3rd generation 22nm E1 stepping CPU (Ivy bridge)
    Improve power on issue
    Update ME / CPU code
Unless theres something else Im missing about ME8

  • Help, can't overclock after bios update!

On the stock k9n2 750a bios version, my AMD 5400 OC’ed to a stable 3.08ghz without any hassle by simply setting the FSB to 220mhz .  Recently, I flashed to the AMI 7374 v3.5 bios and couldn’t even post after bumping the FSB to 202mhz  (it’s fine @200mhz).  So, I reverted the bios back to AMI 7374 v3.1 and for some reason it now can’t post either after saving a FSB above 200mhz .  As far as I can remember, I’m using the same settings as I used when I got the stable 220mhz FSB.
Anyone know what the bios update did to kill my overclocking or got some ideas/advice on how to get back to the stable 220mhz FSB? Thanks.

  • Z68a-gd65 boot loop after bios update using USB

    Hi there,
My  z68a-gd65 (G3) went into a boot loop after I did a bios update from a USB key that I installed using the latest BIOS version on the MSI site 7681vP8.zip
After the system restarted, it keeps booting up for 5 seconds and then shutting down, I removed all external devices and the Geforce GTX 550 Ti card and used the onboard card, but still no change...
Is there a way to set the board to factory defaults again???
    Marcel

    Hi there,
Maybe for others to solve the same problem, I found out what was the cause of this problem, I had a USB/Firewire card installed in the PC, after removing it the BIOS update could proceed from the USB stick as planned.
After the update though, my USB/firewire card can still not be installed back into the slot, because doing so will make the boot loop appear again, very odd!
Does anyone know why this new BIOS will not work with the card that has been inside my PC for 2 years???

  • Troubles in dual boot system after BIOS update

    Hello:
    PC: Thinkpad T500
    1. I had for one year Linux Fedora 10 and Vista Ultimate working in dual boot with Grub, no problems at all.
Three days ago Lenovo support recommended I update my BIOS from 2.07 to 3.12, as I had some intermitent Sleep problems in Vista. Then my problems started.
    2. First, after updating the BIOS from Vista (dowloaded the exe, double clicked it, gone through the whole sequence with no errors), upon the first restart, the screen was black and I couldn't get in BIOS with F1 and the same happened during other power-off/power on sequences.
    3. Now, I've discovered that the best I can do is wait for 10 min after restart in order to get a prompt from ThinkVantage, then Grub boots only the Linux system which works OK.
    4. I can't get the dual boot message from Grub, and I can't get any Windows DVD to be taken at boot (I've got full backups from both Control Panel and from ThinkAdvantage backup facility) in order to ru Windows repair.
    5. I can go during the ThinkAdvantage to BIOS, the new version seems there (not sure if completely operational), but whey can't I see it with F1?
Is the presence of ThinkAdvantage something special in dual-boot systems or wrt to the BIOS install? Should I do something special about it? I just don't know.
    Any ideas?

Strange.  I don't have a clue, but I have seen posts here that recoverd from strangeness after a BIOS update by unplugging from the AC mains, removing the battery, and then pressing the power button several times.  The last time, hold the button for 10 seconds or so.
That is really a total WAG, but maybe worth a try.
Out of curiousity, what do you see when grub finally loads.  I take it that it isn't your original boot menu.  Do you have grub installed in the MBR, the boot sector of the Linux partition, or both?  Is the Linux partition (or Linux boot partition if you have boot + root) the 1st one on the drive, or _after_ the vista partition.
[edit] You didn't ask, but IMNSHO multibooting a modern laptop isn't really the easiest way to run multiple OSs.  I run Linux, Solaris, and OS X in VMs under Win 7 on my T400.  They run well, and that approach avoids issues like you are having.  The Lenovo ThinkVantage boot-time stuff and R&R are rather fragile.  Changes in partitioning and MBR configuration can break them.   BIOS and other updates, and Windows repairs can break the multi-boot setup.
There are several ways to set up VMs, but VMWare Player is what I use.  The latest version is free and quite usable.

  • Need Help For Bios Update...

Hi Buddies, my mobo (760GM-P23 (FX)) is working with an Athlon II X3 455, Kingston HyperX KHX1333C9D3B1K2/4G Dual Kit and with just on-board graphic. MSI Live Update shows the bios H.20 as my board's and H.A0 as upgrade version. Is this information correct?
I'm an inexperienced pc user. Is there any software which installs the bios update through windows' interface?
I'm using "Core Temp" software as processor heat controller. Any other advice which shows also the mobo's temperature?
    Thanks in advance..

if you have no issues, then leave bios update alone

Thanks for help. I tried to use it. Interestingly Control Center and Live Update are not working together. Just ones is working if I install it before than other. Second gives error as "Driver can't load".
Control Center need admin permissions to runs properly.

Thanks, I've done that and it's now showing 1800.  Much easier than updating the BIOS.
My temperatures have gone up a bit, though.  CPU is now 47C (was 44C) and system is 37C (was 35C) in PCAlert4, and I'm only on the net and playing mp3s, so it's not exactly hard load!!.  Is this OK?  I really worry about overheating since my old mobo was unstable at lower system temps than this.
