Z61M integrated camera not showing up

Hi,
For some reason my integrated camera seems to have completely disappeared from my computer except for the "Uninstall" option. I tried to install the software from the Lenovo website to no avail. Is there something I should try to do, or should I look into buying a separate camera?

Is this the driver you downloaded and extracted?  The default extraction location is C:\DRIVERS\WIN\CAMERA  Have you run the setup file from that location?

  • Z61m Integrated camera disappeared from Device Manager

Within the last two days the integrated camera just disappeared from Device Manager.
Uninstalled and reinstalled software, tried lenovousbwebcam.exe (including removing vsnp2std.exe from C:\Windows folder.)
(Kind of redundant since the hardware is simply missing...)
Updated BIOS to 2.27 in the hope that wouls fix it. - Did not work.
Surely it is possible this is a hardware failure. (I really hope not.)
Does anyone have the same issue or a possible fix for this?
    Thanks for any comments.

Had the same problem, I thought. I'm explaining this without the notebook in front of me, so I may not be entirely accurate on the ketstokes.
Lenovo have change the way it works in Vista compared to XP.
The problem is that it doesn't show up in MyComputer or control panel as a scanner/camera.
If you check in control panel, system, devices, hardware, devices it should be shown with a driver from Vicom??
The camera works if you load "Lenovo  Easy Camera" and then install the Roxio pack.
If you then choose to import a picture at the top left is a drop down box which defaults to file, but when selected gives you the option for the camera and then opens up a window showing yourself.
    Hope that works.
    Regards

We are a reseller and I did phone Lenovo, but they hadn't got a clue!!!

  • Z61M Integrated camera disappeared under Win7

The integrated camera on my Z61M worked great under XP and Vista.  Last week I installed Windows 7, and the camera is no longer recognized.  It doesn't show up at all in the Device Manager.  I have looked for it under imaging devices and USB, and it simply isn't there. I have reinstalled drivers, but that doesn't seem to make any difference--presumably since Win7 isn't even "seeing" the camera as an available  hardware resource.
    Z61M machine type 9450-39U
Can't figure out what to do.
    Help please?

    Sure I solved it.
I gave up and bought an external webcam.
I'd be interested in actually fixing it though if someone has ever come up with a solution that works.

  • Integrated Camera not working on X201

    Hello
    I have a X201 3626-A61.    Installed windows XP.
    1.  I have a brand new hard disk, installed fresh windows XP  and my integrated camera works perfectly from windows explorer.    Through device manager,  I checked that its sensed as a USB Video Device and uses I guess the default microsoft driver.  I did this extra step to ensure that there is NO hardware problem with my camera.
    2.  Then I insert back my regular hard disk that I use daily.  This is where the problem is.  As soon as I right click on the "USB video device",  I get error  "Creation of Video preview failed".    In device manager, it shows as USB video device and shows the default microsoft driver.    I have tried downloading both versions of the drivers available on lenovo ( I dont know why there are 2 separate files) and it does not help.  When I install them,  device manager show's up as "integrated camera".     Uninstall of lenovo driver actually does not uninstall it correctly.   So I had to delete all the relevant entries from the registry and even from oem*.inf files.      No luck
I even tried to un-install the "usb video device" from device manager and also uninstalled all the items listed under "universal serial bus controllers".. but no luck.
One thing I observed was that as soon as I uninstall all these and then do a scan for hardware changes,  it installs the enhanced host controller,  usb root hub, generic usb hub,  and for a second it detects it as "integrated camera" with a yellow mark and then it automatically changes to "USB video device".    I feel this is the error.. where the Lenovo driver remains are still there somewhere and it partially detects it as integrated camera and then it conflicts with the Microsoft USB video camera drivers......
Can some one please help ?

    hey manojpatil,

new hard drive with fresh XP, camera works correctly.?
old hard drive with (os?), camera fails to work?
I'm a bit curious to know, lets say with the old hard drive- will the camera work if you uninstall the drivers and let windows install generic drivers ?
If possible, try uninstalling on Lenovo software that you have installed on your unit and try again
Yes,  when I insert a brand new hard disk and then install a fresh Windows XP on it,  the camera works like a charm.  It shows up as a USB Video device on my windows explorer and when clicked, it shows my face     I carried out this experiement to ensure that there is no connections or hardware issue.
However,  when I insert my original regular use hard disk that has 5 month old win XP ( which means i have installed softwares on it ),  it does not WORK.   I have tried installing, uninstalling the Lenovo software.  No luck,  even after uninstallation,  the driver was still pointing to the lenovo binaries/dlls,   so I did a clean up of those using regseeker in the registry... and then let windows xp find the hardware, which it does and installs the default windows drivers and the camera shows up as "USB video device"  in device Manager.     However, when I click on it in the windows explorer,  I do not get any image but the error "video preview failed........".    I even tried copying al the .ax,  .dll and .sys files that device manager shows in the brand new hard disk / new XP onto my hard disk,,, but not luck.....    This is just so very frustrating.....  as I cannot install fresh my XP....
What is confusing to me that why is the driver that is available on the Lenovo website not fixing my problem when I install them fresh on my old hard disk ?   Also,  there are 2 links on the Lenovo website that point to 2 different binaries for the integrated camera drivre and I have tried using both.

  • After an update sept 2013 camera not showing picture ipad 4 retina display

I updated as requested last night 23rd September 2013 IOS7 on my IPAD4 Retina display. The camera does not show a picture and appears to be locked . Very annoying as I don't want to do a factory reset. Can anyone help a senior citizen please without being too technical. Thanks in anticipation

I did the reset, it's still not working. My iPad is totally new, and I got the same problem.

  • USB/DirectShow camera not showing in NI-MAX

I've got a Point Grey Chameleon CMLN-13S2M USB 2.0 camera and it is not showing up in NI-MAX.
I'm well aware of the Directshow registration problems with the PGR cameras, and as far as I can tell the camera is properly registered.  It shows up with no problems in AMCAP, a simple Directshow viewer, and also in Skype.
I just uninstalled the PGR drivers and spent a while going through the registry to delete all references I could to Point Grey and PGR.  I then reinstalled the 32 bit version of the latest drivers, v2.5 beta 2.  I also upgraded the camera firmware to the latest.
    I'm running
    Labview 2012 SP1 f2, 12.0.1
    Vision development module 12.1.0
    MAX 5.4.0f0
    NI-IMAQ 4.7.2
    NI-IMAQdx 4.1.0
Any ideas?  This is a side project and I've been working on it off and on now for more than a year and I've got to get this camera working.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Yes, I still see the camera with other DirectShow viewers after the reinstall.  The latest Point Grey drivers give the option to register the directshow drivers during the installation.  I assumed that this worked since the camera shows up with the other DirectShow viewers, but I also manually registered the files according to the instructions in your links just in case.
I believe that a year or more ago ago when I was running an old version of LV (2009, I think) it did show up in MAX.  I had upgraded a few of the LV components piecemeal, but when my university upgraded to 2012 I decided to uninstall and reinstall with the latest versions of everything.  I have never seen it listed in MAX, red x or not, since I uninstalled the old version to upgrade.
I have used a camera from a different company and it worked fine.
I found that the 32bit directshow cameras are listed in the registry at
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Wow6432Node\CLSID\{860BB310-5D01-11d0-BD3B-00A0C911CE86}\Instance
and I verified this by modifiying the "FriendlyName" registry key for the camera that does show up and observing that the name changes in MAX.  The point grey camera is listed here in the registry but does not show up in MAX.

  • T530 Lenovo Integrated Camera not working, Lenovo Camera Settings does not Display

Hello, I have a new T530 with Windows 8 OS. I am having trouble using the integrated camera. It functions neither in the Windows camera app nor in Skype. In both cases I get a picture with a gray background and a camera with a line through it. In Device manager, the camera does appear, is enabled, and the drivers are up to date.
After looking through other threads, I tried checking whether the camera was plugged in and indeed it was. When using Skype and I set the camera to on (Skype did detect the camera), I still got the gray no camera image, but the green light on the camera itself turned on.
I also tried using Fn+F6 to check settings. Lenovo settings opens, but the when I click the camera settings Icon, the screen loads a blank page that says "Camera" in the top right and has a back button (left pointing arrow) in the top left hand corner. The back button does not seem to work and I must change the window to something else in order to exit/close settings.
I tried manually installing both camera drivers and "power management" ("energy management"?) drivers. Neither of this solved either of these issues.
Please help me to resolve this problem. Thank you.

    Hi, euterpenc
I would make sure that the BIOS is up to date in the system. The current BIOS for your system is 2.07 and can be found here. Also, I would ensure that the chipset drivers are up to date, and those can be found here.
Hope it helps, and let me know how it goes
    Adam

  • Digital Video Camera not showing up as device on desktop

I have a 6 year old sony digital video camera. I am able to connect via firewire and upload video using imovie without a problem. It shows up as an option in imovie as dv-vcr. However the video camera does not show up in the desktop and when it is connected I can't find it being recognized anywhere using spotlight. So I am unsure of how to disconnect it. Normally if it shows up in the desktop I would just 'eject' it by dragging to trash. But now I just turn it off and unplug it. When I do it that way the 'did not disconnect properly' message shows up and my external harddrive that is plugged into the other firewire port disappears. Any ideas on how to solve this?

    Hi mpagriffin
Try this: with Finder on the menu bar go to *Finder / Finder Preferences* and select General, then check all the boxes for *Show these items on the Desktop*.
You also might check to see if it shows up and ejects in Disk Utility?
note: that some devices won't show up on the desktop, my wife's Canon will only mount in and eject from iPhoto while all of our other camera's mount on and eject from the desktop.

Camera apps says: To get started, connect a camera

Attempting to install camera drivers I get the error: " Cannot find the device, abort install"
    Downloaded the drivers from: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds032249

Please,  run the DirectX diagnostics tool. Go to Windows Start  and in the Run box type dxdiag.exe and press the OK button. This will start the DirectX diagnostics program. Run this diagnostics and save the results to a file. Please, attach this file to your post. Be aware that you will have to zip this file before attaching it here.

  • T500 Win7 64 bit Integrated Camera Not Working

I have a T500 64 bit with Win7 Pro. The integrated camera in the device manager has the following error:
Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source. (Code 52)
I have installed the latest driver from the Lenovo site:
    http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-70600.html
And made sure after I installed this driver, the version in device manager is the same: 1.32.500.0
I have also installed Yawcam but it says no device selected when I launch it. It doesnt detect the integrated camera.
    Please help in resolving this.
    Thanks,
    Mazen

did not correct the issue for me, nor did instally easy capture as suggested elsewhere on this site... the key combo Fn-F6 has no effect the only key combination that does anything is Fn-PgUp which only turns on the camera light. Attempting to install the driver for the integrated camera fails silently (dies before completely installing without notice) so I am at a loss, I have been trying to get this working off & on for about 31/2 months to no avail and am about to give up and deal with a USB solution.

  • NEW MACBOOK...Camera not showing picture

Camera was showing my picture on purchase, but now not.
    Software problem?
I have updated my mac softwares...operating system is now Tiger 4.7...and have Apperture....
    Please help me.

I don't know what was missing from the first delta (software update of non-combo updater) for 10.4.7 : http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=2633936 , it's not a known issue w/ that update, but if turning off your machine or the normal resets (pram, PMU) don't work then trying the combo update or the new delta might do something. Kinda doubt it, but if all else fails it's worth a shot. Green lines in video are usually a sign of a bad connector or not enough power.
    Good Luck,

  • Integrated camera not working windows 8 X201

I upgraded to Windows 8 some time ago and did not notice that my integrated camera is not recognized, the driver is not listed in the downloads for the laptop but states this is a Windows Inbox Driver. Where can I get the driver AND where in the device manager is it listed. Thanks.

I would not upgrade to Windows 8, lots of issues and the camera still does not work. It does work when I load Linux so its not the camera. I have tried everything, old drivers, new drivers. My wireless doesnt work either, not sure I'd get anothe Lenovo.
