  • Dust under the LCD cover, sticky/non-responsive keyboard..

    Hello,
I've been trying to find information on this.
I purchased this phone, outright, from Bell when they finally started selling it a couple of weeks ago.  Since then, the phone has aquired a large amount of dust under the LCD cover (and continues to do so).  The keys sometimes "stick" or feel like they cannot be pushed down (but are registering).
I contacted my carrier, Bell, over the phone and the CSR told me to go into a local Bell store to get it checked out.
I went to my local Bell store and a worker there told me that I can't get it exchanged and that I should just open the phone myself to clean out the dust and check the keyboard.
    Is this right?
They're telling me to void the warranty on this brand new phone regarding problems I'm having with it.  Does anyone have any tips on what I should do about this?
My previous phone (which was a Pearl 8130 that I had for 3 years) didn't collect any dust under the LCD screen and had no keyboard issues.

your warranty and support is through your carrier you need to be firm and explain it better to them your issue. You should not have dust on the LCD so soon with a new device (unless it is damaged) as for sticky keys, i never had a sticky key with the hundreds of devices we have unless some one spilled something on it. If it is a factory defect, again you have to get this taken care of with your carrier and they are the first line in warranty support.
    Good Luck.

  • Cracked 8330 LCD cover Question....

I just got my first blackberry and put it on the floor where I accidently stepped on it which ended up cracking the plastic LCD cover.  My carrier, SaskTel, says that it will cost between $50 to $200 to repair it.  Are these things easily replaceable by an average-joe?  If so, where can I purchase one and is there someone who has replaced their LCD cover before (i.e. I need some instructions).
    thanks for your help.

    hello,
you can find videos on youtube that show how to disassemble a Curve device. You need to have the proper screwdrivers, as well as steady hands.
For spare parts including a new LCD, a black trackball, a new color keyboard, there are many online stores like cnn.cn (nothing to do with the information channel).

It would be part of the warranty coverage if it is a factory defect, yes. User damage to the LCD is not covered.

  • E90 Horizontal Black Line in LCD Cover Display

Recently noticed a small black horizontal line in E90 cover LCD display. Line was getting longer and shorter througout the day. Sometimes stretching across the entire width of the display. Updated the phone's software but no use. Nokia Careline advisor suggested removing the battery, SIM card and memory card for 15 minutes, but this did not help either. In the end, took the phone to the Nokia Care Centre where they admitted this is a common hardware problem with Nokia displays. They even have a problem code associated with this 'Black line in LCD'. Phone is under warranty and is with them for repair.

    Good day.
Based on your MTM (machine type-model), 20C0S0NG06, here's the basic factory configuration:

    ARRRGGHHH
    Hi,
I dropped my phone yesterday whilst outside and got kicked by someone walking past me :-|
Unfortunately the lcd screen on the front of the phone has been cracked in 3 places making it useless.
I have no insurance with my phone contract (Vodafone) and was wondering if I can get a replacement screen, how much it costs, is it easy to replace etc, etc..
    Can anyone help me please.
    Cheers,

    Hi
Best thing to do is take it to a Nokia Service Centre. You could always phone ahead to get an estimate.

  • S10-3: system automatically powers on when the LCD cover is opend

    Dear all,
I bought a Lenovo S10-3 with windows 7 Starter edition installed. The system works fine except for a strange issue that I have when I power down the machine and close the lid and reopen the lid. When I reopen the lid the netbook powers up again automatically and does not start Windows 7 but goes on in to the One Key Recovery Software. Inorder to start windows 7 again I have to cancel the One Key Recovery process and reboot. Has anyone else come across this issue ? Is there a solution to this ?
    best regards,

    Hi and welcome,
Did you update to latest BIOS 31 ,  ?
Lenovo strongly suggests rebooting the system before applying the BIOS update.
and approve right settings in Powermanagement

  • T61 646501U gone through technician HADES

I live here in Florida, as a full time college student. I got this ThinkPad T61 back in Dec of '07 as a replacement. It is still under the 3 year onsite warranty of course. I have babied this thing as I love it and it still looks like brand new. About a week ago, I had called in and had the hinges replaced due to screen wobble. The technician that came out replaced hinges, but left me with a broken screen bezel. The right side of it (while looking at the lcd while using) flapped and was so very loose along with not being completely conjoined together with the cover bezel, leaving a nice sized gap. I called that in to Lenovo tech support, and they sent me out a new lcd cover kit. The same very technician came out, opened it up, a bunch of plastic tabs fell out of it like they were broken, and replaced with new kit. I thought I was done with it and was actually so very happy again, but I again was let down. Went from a 1/2 inch dot showing up on my screen on bottom left hand area and as its getting worse and worse as time goes by, my LCD screen itself is a big blur of white and rainbow colors. As if the technician pressed too hard against the screen itself whilst removong the bezels when replacing the covers. Only the top 2 inches, if that, are viewable, rendering this unit useless and hindering me from my school work. I called Lenovo tech support yet again, and they are sending out a new lcd screen and should be at latest Tuesday the 1st. I know that this technician is from a company named QualXServ, and I was wondering if there are any LENOVO techs in my area that can come here to replace this screen. I am in Melbourne FL. I am thinking that since Qual X Serv handles Lenovo's warranty work here I doubt there are any Lenovo techs. Anyone have any insight or advice? Thanks
I have included a link with a picture of what my screen looks like now QQ

No. I just got two of my X201 on my side and none of them have a gap in the bezels. And one of these two was a guinea pig for a panel swap so I ended removing and re-installing the bezel too many times. Still sits perfectly flat and with no flex or gap at all:

  • T400: Replace CCFL lamp or whole LCD?

    Hi everybody,
So my CCFL lamp on my T400 has pretty much died. I'm pretty sure it's not the inverter card due to the pink hue towards the bottom & the (lowering) hissing noise before the LCD shuts off. First noticed it would die pretty soon when the screen started flickering on dim settings.
At first I started to look for LCD assemblies (I have the Samsung panel one, LTN141WD-L05) , then told myself-dumb me! why not just replace the lamp (or both, since we there) since my LCD's doing just fine.
But then some people versed in laptops in general (but none had ever changed CCFL lamps before) told me I was better off changing the LCD assembly all together, since replacing the lamps is apparently a daunting & nerve wracking task. I'm not scared myself in replacing the whole LCD-I've change the LCD cover of a previous ThinkPad before and have disassembled this one countless times, including changing the CPU heatsink/fan unit-although never reaching the point of removing the LCD bezel (I did came close, when I had to check the hinges-but that's another story). And then, I don't think CCFL lamps are FRUs, and the HMM sure doesn't go into that territory.
    So, my question:
Has anybody ever changed CCFL lamps in a ThinkPad/other laptop? Is there even a guide out there ? (I'm still searching around for one)
Oh, and by the way, yes, my T400 is out of warranty (bought it in 2009, extended warranty expired in 2012)
Another detail: I live in Montreal, Canada, and I'd be happy to have it done by some local shop that would have competence in this. I mention local, because if I had to ship it I think I'd rather buy & have myself shipped a whole LCD unit instead. So I'm supposed to call tomorrow to my local Lenovo service center & a few approved service provider (from Lenovo's website) to inquire about their prices **and** turn-around time (again, if it takes a month I'd do either one of the repairs myself)
Thanks in advance, any feedback will be appreciated.
Edit: There's actually only one CCFL lamp in the LTN141WD-L05.

Hissing comes from the inverter. Redness from the CCFL. Both must be replaced.
Having changed a CCFL myself on a T30 many years ago I swore never to do it again, and would advise everyone else to just flip the screen or an entire assembly. The chances of introducing dust specs between the LCD layers in the process of swapping the bulb are just way too high for my liking, and that's only one of the problems.
Secondly, Samsung screens are in general a horror show to change the CCFL on, regardless of the generation.
Lastly, T400 panels are rather inexpensive nowadays...
If you insist on a guide, here's the best one there is, at least in my opinion:

  • Z61m: LCD panel replacement (WSXGA+ to WUXGA)

I own ThinkPad Z61m (Type 9450-HAG). Unfortunately the LCD panel does not work any more (only top third of display works).
I consider replacing of the LCD panel (WSXGA+, FRU no.: 13N7020).
Is it possible to replace the original panel with WUXGA panel - 13N7198 or 13N7178?
If it is possible, is it enough just to exchange the panels or it is also needed to replace other parts of notebook and/or upgrade BIOS or other software?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

It should work no problems. In fact, you could probably use your old inverter. CCFL backlit LCD screens use a two pin connector from the inverter to the LCD. This connector is the same accross most if not all manufacturers.
I tried replacing a 15.4" WXGA LED backlit LCD with a WXGA+ CCFL backlit LCD. Now you might ask yourself, can I convert to LED backlit LCD. While it may be possible, I don't want to say yes just yet. Anyways, what I had to do is disassemble the LCD and remove the screen. I disassembled the original WXGA LCD and replaced it with the WXGA+ LCD. Too bad it didn't work. It wasn't because I had damaged it. The LCD originally didn't work. It had an awful display. I just wanted to know if it was possible.
The conclusion is that these parts are quite interchangeable. CCFL backlit LCDs generally use the same connectors for both the backlight and display. I am not sure about LED backlit LCDs, but it would be understandable that the manufacturers maintain some kind of uniformity. After all, they produce these LCDs for all the laptop manufacturers.
