In case you want to downgrade afterwards just ask for it and we'll supply you with the needed archive.
Hi, I'm having an issue installing my new EVGA 780gtx on my Z68-GD65 (G3) - I see you fixed someones problem by suggesting to install a certain bios, however - I see that there are different versions, 1 is P and other is N, which exact driver from the forum page you linked should I be installing?
Thanks

Install the same bios linked above in the quoted post from me >>using the MSI HQ Forum USB flasher<<. Note that exactly one bios is linked (P80).
P are ME8 bios versions adding Ivy Bridge support while N versions are older ME7 versions.

  • Installing NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 problem

I have QU297AA#ABG h8- 1130a as bought from retail and planned to do some upgrades. I purchased the NVidia GeForce GTX 780 Graphics Card and was told I would also need a 600W or better power supply, so I also purchased a 750W one. I have installed everything correctly (to my knowledge) and when I try to boot up the PC, it reaches the welcome screen which is blue and with the HP logo asking me to "press escape for startup menu". That does not work and the PC then beeps 4 times with long pauses in between before changing to a black screen at which I have to hard shut down the PC.
I know that the power supply is fine becuase when I saw back to the graphics factory card, it is fine. I have read a lot of support FAQs and they have told me to update the BIOS and to uninstall my old graphics driver. I have done both and the problem still persists. I have upgraded my BIOS from AMI 7.09 22/7/2011 to AMI 7.12 12/10/2011 which was the latest available.
According to the EVGA manual, the beeping sounds are from one of the following:
    1. The card is not seated properly (unlikely).
    2. There is a problem with the motherboard's graphic card slot (impossible, as the other one works).
    3. Supplemental PCI-E power is not connected to the graphics card (it most definetely is).
    4. Graphics card problem (unlikely, it is brand new).
It then says the problem is probably with the motherboard and to contact you.
I hope this has been enough information but I would like to know all of my options.

I will take a look at the specs on your MOBO o see which PCIe spec the slot is. The specs don't state the version. I will have to ask an HP internal source. It may take a day for me to get back to you, but as soon as I know, you will as well.

  • GTX 780 problem

I just bought this preoverclocked card today and Im starting to wonder if Im doing something wrong. As the picture show I only get 324 mhz which must be wrong. I run Black Ops 2 with 120 fps on highest settings without any problems. But.. I did that on my former GTX 660 from Asus too. On Ghosts I run highest settings with 4xTXAA (settings made by Nvidia) and it laggs and it laggs. This card was sure not cheap and I was hopeing that there shouldnt be any problems. But as the picture shows, I need help if I missed something.

    Yeah.. Sorry saw that now...
But it doesnt matter. I will return this card today and I will never ever use MSI cards again.. It started with a conflict between the Msi Geforce GTX 780 OC 3gb card and my Asus Maximus Gene V mainboard with the integrated graphiccard that made me format the whole computer and take it from scratch. No problem with that, but then I tried Nvidias settings for Ghosts and Ghosts own optimal settings.. Didnt matter, lagged anyway.. Black Ops 2 works excellent..
    I have a i5 3570k cpu running in 4.4 ghz with 16 gb Kingston 2400 mhz memories running in 1866 mhz. I use Win 7 64-bits and I use a WD-harddrive.
I use to have a Asus GTX 660 that I could run highest settings on Black Ops 2 and since it anyway lags on Ghosts I will not have use for this card.. Maybe its a monday-ex, maybe its Ghosts (several problems with this game).. I dont know.. But I dont have the time or money for that matter to spend changing settings on a card that cost me nearly 400 euro....

  • Z68 gd65 g3 and 970 issues

I have a z68 gd65 g3 with n70 bios and after i installed my 970 i am getting hung up on a b2 error sceen plz help me resolve this. I a running a 2500k intel chip in it

It is not possible to run a GTX 970 on a 6-series mainboard using an ME7 firmware bios (all Nxx versions for your board). You must upddate to the latest Pxx series bios using ME8 firmware. Being an Ivy Bridge bios it might reduce oc results when using a Sandy Bridge cpu but there is no other way to run your GTX 970 otherwise. THe following allows to update to P80.
1.) >>Use the MSI HQ Forum USB flasher<<
A.) Download >>this<< archive and place it on your desktop. Do not decompress.
B.) Download and install the Forum flash tool.
C.) Insert your FAT32 formatted usb stick.
D.) Make sure the legacy USB is enabled.
E.) Start the forum flash tool and select option 1. Then point the tool at the compressed archive we downloaded earlier. Then to your USB Flash Drive.
F.) Boot to the USB and follow the directions. MEMTEST is included with the forum flash tool and it is recommended to run this prior to any flash.
2.) Once the flash is complete, you must download and install the latest ME drivers:

  • Z77A-GD65 ram and DR. mos problem after 2 years without any HW change or OC!

Hi guys, i have three Z77A-GD65 from 2 years with the same hardware config, no overclock or others OC settings ....simply default bios settings;  in this last 2 months, not at the same time, all of my 3 mainboards  have the same identical problem.
One day, from nowhere, without any reason, i start my pc and mobo don't start, hangs with code 55 ( memory error) and Dr mos alarm led goes on, i try to reset bios .. nothing.
I Switch multibios to "B" bios and works perfectly .. i've tested all of RAM modules and result works perfectly !! .... all of three mainboards have the same identical problem!!
Now i use all my 3 PCs with "B" bios and works perfectly, because "A" bios hangs always with code 55 and with Dr. mos alarm led on, i try to update and downgrade "A" bios ... nothing to do ... "A" bios don't work anymore.
    Any idea?

    Don't have to be rude
If same problem is on 3 motherboards then is something wrong with RAM or BIOS not the motherboard
    >>Posting Guide<< Reminding again if you want to receive any help.
Nichrome, you misunderstood! ... I just responded to your affirmation .. that's all, it was not my intention to was "rude" as you wrote! OK?
Ram  modules have been tested on other Asus mainboard  .. .. no read/write errors and no hangs problems ... so all Ram modules are fine
About bios ..... maybe primary bios is physically damaged.... i try to reflash bios also with old version .. no way .. maybe primary bios damage in all 3 mainboards  !! very strange!!! ... you know if there's a know manufacturing defect on this MB bios maybe on a particular MB serial part number? because i bought all 3 mainboards at same time about 2 years ago.
Quote from: Sea Dog on 19-July-14, 02:40:52
Obviously, there is 'something' that has caused BIOS corruption in all 3 mainboards A chips. Whatever that 'something' is, it may happen to the backup B chips as well. Recommend to concentrate on finding this 'something', what the common denominator is, and restoring BIOS chips A before the mainboards may become expensive paperweights. A shop with an SPI flash programmer device can fix the broken BIOS chips if not comfortable with doing the recovery procedure yourself.
Hi, yes i agree,  In fact, my fear is to have, in a while, these mainboard totally unusable!  ..... i think that primary bios is physically damaged or i hope, software damaged, I would try to recover it,  if it's only a software problem (i hope so) ... do you know a procedure to completely erase cleanly that reflash the primary bios? i try to use dos MSI flash utility with "/p /b /n" options .. no success to restore A bios ... same story ... error 55 and DR-mos alarm led on.

  • H8-1280t and GTX 780 Video Card installation issue.

I hope someone can give me good news with this issue as I am at the end of my rope.
I recently purchased an EVGA GTX 780 SC video card which I am attempting to install into my h8-1280t Elite HP Desktop.
I have switched out the stock Power Supply that originally came with the unit and installed one that can support the necessary power requirements of the card (750W with 61A on 12V rail [Corsair ATX 750).
This is actually the second card that I have tried and they both have the same issue.  The issue is as follows:  When the unit is powered on I can see the POST message which shows my processor, memory amount, and BIOS Revision date and version.  The unit will then proceed to beep once every 10 seconds, there will be a total of 3 beeps and the unit proceeds to a black screen where nothing happens.  I know the card is not bad as it displays the POST message just fine.
I have since contacted EVGA the manufacturer of the card and they have stated that this issue has something to do with UEFI BIOS.  Their card has shipped with the most recently updated UEFI BIOS located in the GTX 780, I was referred to try and ask here if there is an update to my current motherboard to bring it upto date with the latest revision of UEFI.  I have also since tried both BIOS updates on my model page the lastest having a revision date of 9-12-2012.  I would hate to think that my unit is incompatible being that I only bought it last year.  I have noticed that in my BIOS settings there is very limited UEFI boot options. so that gives me some hope.
The following is the information about my unit to the closes detail I have found:
    Motherboard: IPIWB-PB (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&docname=c03132964)
    BIOS: 7.15 Rev. A (09-12-2012)
    Processor: Intel i7 3820 3.6ghz
    Desktop: h8-1280t (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=4063&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=5155...)
    Power Supply: Corsair ATX 750w
    Memory: Corsair 16gb Vengeance
Hard Drive and CD drive are stock.
I believe the issue lies with an outdated BIOS and hopefully HP is providing BIOS updates.
Once again any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi,
Have you made sure that your P6 and P8 connectors are connected properly to the video card?
If you have, and your power supply is capable of running this card, then it is possibly not compatible with this motherboard. For the greatest chance of compatibility, since your motherboard has PCIe generation 2 slot you would want to look for a video card that uses PCIe generation 2.0. While 3.0 should be backwards compatible; it is not always the case.
    Thank you.

  • Compatibility of Nvidia GeForce GTX 780 Ti for Premiere Pro

    Hi,
I am upgrading my workstation and plan to buy a good quality graphic card which will support smooth editing of 1080p footage and some after effects rendering.
I chose GTX 780 Ti but unfortunately in the compatibility list provided by Adobe, only GTX 780 is supported. So if GTX 780 Ti is used, can I use the Mercury Playback Engine and take full advantage of the graphic card?
Also is my select correct? I was at first confused selecting between Nvidia  Quadro K4200 and GTX 780 Ti. I will not be using Maya or 3D Max. Only Premiere Pro, After Effects and sometimes Da Vinci Resolve will be used.
    Thanks,
    Srijit

Yeah, it works great as mentioned in the table with recommended video cards, if you have at least:
An overclocked I7 6+ core CPU, or Dual E5 6+ core CPU's, and
    64+ GB RAM, and
800+ MB/s transfer rates on all volumes.
Otherwise it is overkill and the card will be idle most of the time. See Tweakers Page - Exporting Style

  • Z77A-GD65 issues with Geforce GTX 780 Video Card

    Hey Guys,
I have a issue with a new PC build.
I think it may be a driver or BIOS setting issue, I hope
I bought a MSI Z77A-GD65 motherboard and below are the specs:
    - Intel Core i7-2600 CPU 3.4 Ghz
    - BIOS Version E4451IMS V10.8
    - Balistix Sport 8GB sticks (Total of 24 GB memory installed)
    - Kentek 875w power supply
    - Geforce GTX 780 Graphics Card
My problem is with the Geforce GTX 780 video card, I installed a fresh install of Windows 7 64 bit and
everything runs and works fine, but when i install the Geforce GTX 780 video card and install the
drivers its all good up to this point but when i restart the computer i get this message in the device
manager ""Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems (code 43)"
I have installed different versions of the driver, a few older and few newer versions with the same
    outcome.
I tried to flash the BIOS to the latest version 10.11 but had problems with it picking up my harddrive
after it flashed successfully. I even checked the boot up setting and it all looked good just would not
boot up, so i had to revert back to the v10.8 BIOS version for it to work.
I'm not sure if there is a setting in the BIOS that i need to turn on or off. I'm not familar with this BIOS,
is there a place in it so i can see if the BIOS is picking up the video card, it has to or Windows would
    not see it right?
I'm stumped here, do you guys know of a Geforce driver version that works well with this video card?
I truely think the card is fine because when i install the card to the motherboard i dont get any weird
issues until the driver is installed and Windows is restarted.
I would greatly appreciate any help and advise that you guys can give me.
    Thanks alot

    UPDATE
Well i wanted to post an update on my new build issue.
    Here are my specs:
    I bought a MSI Z77A-GD65 motherboard with BIOS v10.8
    - Intel Core i7-2600 CPU 3.4 Ghz
    - BIOS Version E4451IMS V10.8 (i had a issue with the newest BIOS flash v10.11 it wouldn't detect the harddrive, could figure that one out so i went back to v10.8)
    - Balistix Sport 8GB sticks (Total of 32 GB memory installed) I first had 3 sticks so i got another 8GB stick to fill all 4 banks for total of 32 GB
    - Corsair Professional Series 860 Watt Digital ATX/EPS Modular 80 PLUS Platinum Power Supply AX860i (Bought this PS to replace the Kentek PS)
    - N780 TF 3GD5/OC (GeForce GTX 780 GAMING) (traded Geforce GTX 780 card for the MSI version of the GTX 780 card)
OK... I got the new Corsair 860w power supply installed and i installed the new MSI GTX 780 video card with the specs above everything installed fine no problems and my son was playing the Bio Shock Infinite game on Steam and about 1 hour into the game he got a blue screen of death, says something like "to prevent damage windows is now resetting" and it turns off so fast can't read the rest of the message.
I'm going to here in a little bit and update all device drivers with MSI Live update utility and also update the motherboard BIOS again to v10.11.
I'm really confused here, I'm also going to take out some memory and try to run it with sticks only in slot 2 & 4 to see if it runs more stable like that, also should i update the video card to the latest driver, i know the latest is not always the greatest driver.
I want to think you guys again for your help & time with this issue. I really dont know what else to do here, everything is new in this PC.
    Thanks

New graphic cards need 4.XX bios.
    The last is 4.30 bios.
You have to download the archive here : https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=164135.0
An use this archive with   MSIQ USB Bootable tool downloadable here : https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=116721.0
Use Method 1: Processing a BIOS Archive Directly (ZIP/RAR).
    Then clear CMOS.
Then Reboot and SUPPR button to enter the bios
Dont upgrade Intel Management Engine drivers to v8, because you have i7 2600K sandy bridge processor. Stay with IME v7 drivers

  • GeForce GTX 780 and Premiere CC 2014 footage issues on Win 8.1

    Hey everyone
I just bought a PC media workstation, having been a Mac guy for 15 years.  As I was installing apps, AU, AE, Cinema4D all worked as expected. But PR literally would chug when playing back almost any footage (in this case mostly my ProRes422HQ from my BMPC). The playhead moved, I heard audio but the picture never changed.  Even the low-quality h264 proxy footage I tested performed like this.
Interestingly, whether I was enabling GPU based editing in Premiere or not, it had no effect whatsoever.
I talked w/ the guys at Mediaworkstations.net and we narrowed it down to what we think is an issue between of graphics card support from Adobe.  I even retro-installed CC and CS6 and both had the same results.  Was hoping someone from Adobe would speak into this and offer some help.

  • One of my MSI GTX 780-fans gets stuck on 100% every now and then :(

Every now and then (randomly and not very often) one of the fans on my MSI GTX 780 gets stuck on 100% after windows 7 (64 bit) have loaded.
It is impossible to get it to slow down by using any software or by restarting the computer (or even by turning it off).
The Only way to get it back to normal functioning is to open the computer and stop the fan with my hands for a while. After that it works like it should, until next time this bug happens.
Has anyone experienced anything like it?  Can it be solved or is the card broken?

flobelix will give you the program needed (a link to it at least) and the information of how to so it!
but he needs 2 things from you!
1: the serial number of your MSI GTX 780 (leave off the last 3 digits)
2: a copy of your cards current VBIOS (download this http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/SysInfo/GPU-Z/ and run it and it will bring up GPU-Z and then click on the little icon at the end of BIOS Version and choose save to file (should be a under 1MB file) then upload it to somewhere like dropbox.com and give us a link to it there)

Yes, that's how it is intended as I already said. Without load (no 3D games) not all phases are active hence not all LEDs (indicating activity) lit. With games card is under load and all phases are active therefor all LED's are lit.
