Z77 G45 Gaming - Memory leak (Non-paged pool)

Good day MSI forum.
I recently bought this motherboard of yours, and it's working great. As the title says, I am having a memory leak of some sort. I've been doing all kinds of googeling, using poolmon trying to locate the error and so on, but I am not educated enough in this area to know what I am really doing!
What me and my frined managed to find out so far:
1. When I download something, or when I upload youtube with max pixels (more upload then), the non-paged pool meter just rises as if he was to climb the mount everest!
2. When I disabeled the Killer 2200 driver, (killed the EXE file in my task manager) the memory started to leak A LOT slower.
3. Over the course of 24 hours with no downloading, just youtube music streaming and online games being ran, it can leak up to 1000mb. (While downloading it does 1000mb in 1 hour). It was basically the same speed of my download - 1MB downloaded > 1 MB leaked - so in conclusion it has to do with the network (and here's the problem, I don't know what might cause this).
Now I am not completely sure that the driver/download is what is causing the memory leak, it might be something that I don't know of. I am not a pro in this matter, so I ask of help!
Thank you in advance,
Orlaw.

  • GS60 Serious memory leakage (non-paged pool)

    Windows 8.1
    Laptop been on for only 24 hours and 5gb of memory was leaked by some driver (non-paged memory is at 5.5gb)
    I only used the drivers provided on the MSI website.
    Does anyone have information on this?
    A peculiar effect of note is that to free that memory an actual restart is required. If you merely shutdown the laptop when you start it again the memory is not freed @_@ Never saw that before.
    Edit:
    Poolmon.exe implicates the tag Wfpn which google suggests is related to networking. Will try updating all networking drivers later.

    Making this thread might have been unnecessary.
    Disabling Ndu.sys through the registry (start value changed to 4) seems to have fixed the memory leak.
    Still have no idea why so few people experience it. Just after 24 hours it went as high as 6 gigs.
    Hopefully this will help others with a similar problem.

  • Monitor Non-Paged Pool Usage SCOM 2012 R2

    Has anyone figured out an effective method of monitoring non-paged memory pools.
    My hope is to build a monitor that can determine max pool size and alert when non-paged pool usage is >= 90% of that maximum.
    I've done some research on the subject, with the most relevant TechNet article being http://blogs.technet.com/b/markrussinovich/archive/2009/03/26/3211216.aspx.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi,
    As we know, there is a performance counter for non-paged memory:
    \memory\pool nonpaged bytes:
    Low on Pool NonPaged memory
    - less than 40% available (If the systems exceeds more that 60% of the Pool Non-paged bytes memory pool, then consider removing the /3GB switch or consider migrating to a 64-bit system.
    Critically low on Pool NonPaged memory – less than 20% available (If the system exceeds 80% of the Pool Non-paged bytes memory pool. If so, consider removing the /3GB switch or consider migrating to a 64-bit system.
    There is a rule to collect this performance, we can find it and enable it by overriding:

  • Memory Leak in NonPaged pool --- Tag = Cont

    Hi All,
            We are facing memory leak issue on some of our some servers in similar fashion. Leak in Nonpaged pool and as per Poolmon - Tag CONT is consuming most memory. As per Pooltag,
    Cont - <unknown>    - Contiguous physical memory allocations for device drivers
    Systems State is shown below:
    Zoom IN to view ScreenShot clearly
    Now i tried to collect details of allocations using WinDBG (!poolfind Cont) tagged with Cont string, but WINDBG gets stuck when it trying to collect data from NonPaged pool, as shown below:

  • MSI Z77-G45 GAMING DRAM OC PROBLEM.

    TYPE or PASTE your text here... Hi guys,
    I just bought this mother board running a i5 3570k and G.SKILL Ripjaws X 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 2133. After i start all running the first thing I've done was setting the rams to stock speeds, latency and volts which is speed 2133, timing 9-11-9-28 and voltage 1.65V...Whats happens after i plug this is just weird, my pc starts a rebooting loop that goes on forever. This is my first MSI motherboard I'm currently reading a learning my way around.
    Please guys help to solve this problem.
    TY

    First, that ram isn't the best choice for this system. It's voltage rating of 1.65 and ram timings are out of spec and that leads to instabilities / incompatibilities.
    Let see if we can get this to work for you anyhow.
    1st, is the ram installed in DIMMS 2 and 4 per the manual? (The 2nd from the cpu and last from the cpu)
    2nd: Have you tried manually setting the timings to 11-11-11-30 Command Rate 2t, Speed: 2133, DramV: 1.55  If not test and see if that works.
    What are your other settings? Have you tried running Intel Burn Test on maximum at stock settings to make sure it was stable there?

  • MSI A88X-G45 Gaming + 16GB G.Skill TridentX 2x8GB 2400mhz... Memory Missing...

    Hello,
    Im having a problem that i don´t know if it is CPU related or Board related...
    I have today recieved the new memories...
    The Gskill Trident X 2x8GB 2400mhz 1.65v 10-12-12-31.
    So in total is 16gb of ram.
    I putted on the board powered up... System recognized memory alterations and ask me to go to bios.
    So far so good...
    I went on bios an choosed the XMP on the board that correctly detected the timmings and voltage.
    Saved and reseted.
    I then entered again in bios and started to notice that only 8GB of my 16GB are visible to the system...
    The board detect BOTH dimms, and even in board explorer they are marked on the slots, but i don´t understand where is the rest of the memory...
    The board is an MSI A88X-G45 Gaming and im using the last bios 1.5.
    I went to windows, and in CPU-ID it detects the 16gb of memory, but on task manager it says i only have 8gb available...
    I can´t make any sense of this contraditory information...
    Can anyone help me????
    I have putted the memory on the recomended slot positions (2 and 4)
    Please check pictures bellow...
    Thanks in advance...

    Also this is a KIT of 2. Its paired and its fully functional dimms (i have tested them solo).
    This is the memory kit i have purchased...
    Now i have some photos i have taken from the POST and inside of the BIOS.
    There is a lot of information so bear with me on this please:
    After a enter windows i run some aplications to show what i get here...
    So.... whats going on here....

  • How to increase maximum buffer memory on MSI Z87-G45 Gaming,s1150?

    good day,
    is there a way to increase the maximum buffer memory for PCI-E X16 ports? e.g. a bios setting that allows this?
    here are my specs:
    -   2 x XFX HD7950 Double Dissipation (FX-795A-TDFC)
    -   MSI Z87-G45 Gaming,s1150
    -   Intel Core i3-4130,s1150
    -   1 x TNAV6R00 Corsair RM1000 (Gold standard)
    -   ICIDU Value DDR3 1333 (2x4GB)
    -   Windows 7 Home Premium 64Bit

    perhaps I can be a bit more specific regarding my problem
    I am using above described rig for mining purposes. One of the related performance variables is 'thread concurrency' (CGMINER). it is currently set to value 8192, corresponding to about 512mb of buffer memory for the PCI-E ports. I can not increase it, as i get the error that the system is out of buffer memory. Thing is, the system should have a lot more. The PCI-E cards hav 3GB each and my system ram is 2x4GB.
    one relate variable I am already using is the following command line
    setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
    this usually solves above problem, but not in this case...
    anybody got any ideas?

    Max Memory Size (dependent on memory type)  : 32 GB
    Memory Types : DDR3-1333/1600
    Any 16GB DDR3-1600 kit at 1.5V runs just fine on this motherboard.
    If you want something to run "out of box", I recommend a Corsair Vengeance or Dominator kit.

  • Allocated memory pool was not deleted! 1 GB memory leak is too much for me!

    Dear Sirs. I found that DB environment, that was configured to use 1 GB cache size, won't free it when closed! Why? First I tried to open and close environment and got the following:
    Detected memory leaks!
    Dumping objects ->
    {596} normal block at 0x01970040, 1048596 bytes long.
    Data: < > 14 00 10 00 DB DB DB DB 0B 00 10 00 01 00 00 00
    {578} normal block at 0x00397978, 464 bytes long.
    Data: < > D0 01 00 00 DB DB DB DB C7 01 00 00 01 00 00 00
    Object dump complete.
    I have and idea that BDB will reuse the memory, rite? OK, let's try to create the same environment and open it. After environment was opened, closed, opened again and again closed, I got the following:
    Detected memory leaks!
    Dumping objects ->
    {3663} normal block at 0x01B80040, 1048596 bytes long.
    Data: < > 14 00 10 00 DB DB DB DB 0B 00 10 00 01 00 00 00
    {3645} normal block at 0x00396E60, 464 bytes long.
    Data: < > D0 01 00 00 DB DB DB DB C7 01 00 00 01 00 00 00
    {596} normal block at 0x01970040, 1048596 bytes long.
    Data: < > 14 00 10 00 DB DB DB DB 0B 00 10 00 01 00 00 00
    {578} normal block at 0x00397978, 464 bytes long.
    Data: < > D0 01 00 00 DB DB DB DB C7 01 00 00 01 00 00 00
    Object dump complete.
    So memory was not reused, nor deallocated.
    By the way, you may be interested in other leak I found, but fixed, see
    Replication manager memory leak when setting local site information.
    This leak is more serious, I am not sure I will fix it quickly. Maybe I'm doing something wrong? Could you please suggest something?
    Thanks in advance!
    With regards,
    Vladislav.

    OK, the problem solved by fixing code in file 'log.c', method '__log_dbenv_refresh'.
    Just added the code that deallocates memory of bulk buffer.
    if (IS_ENV_REPLICATED(dbenv))
    if (lp->bulk_buf != INVALID_ROFF)
    __db_shalloc_free(&dblp->reginfo, lp->bulk_buf);
    lp->bulk_buf = INVALID_ROFF;
    lp->bulk_len = 0;
    lp->bulk_off = 0;
    It was allocated in the '__log_open' function, by the following code:
              lp->ready_lsn = lp->lsn;
              if (IS_ENV_REPLICATED(dbenv)) {
                   if ((ret = __db_shalloc(&dblp->reginfo, MEGABYTE, 0,
                   &bulk)) != 0)
                        goto err;
                   lp->bulk_buf = R_OFFSET(&dblp->reginfo, bulk);
                   lp->bulk_len = MEGABYTE;
                   lp->bulk_off = 0;
              } else {
                   lp->bulk_buf = INVALID_ROFF;
                   lp->bulk_len = 0;
                   lp->bulk_off = 0;
    Sorry for time taken to read my posts, I was really needy in quick help, but solved problems myself.

  • Plugin-container.exe takes over and uses 100% of my CPU locking me out and leaving my PC non-functioning. Is this a bug, or a memory leak, in the Firefox software? Can anything be done to fix this problem?

    In looking at Windows Task Manager I found that plugin-container.exe was taking over 100% of my CPU and my system was frozen. Is this a memory leak or other bug?

    Thank you! I have been having problems with Adobe Flash since downloading the new 11.1 version. I will download it again and reinstall it, hopefully that will correct the problem.

  • T61 with memory leak on XP for driver battc.sys

    Hi
    I have an issue with XP where the battc.sys module that is part of Windows XP and responsible for the kernel side of monitoring the battery status. This module continually leaks memory until I have no more kernel paged resources left and programs start to fail on my laptop.
    I raised a support case for this with Microsoft and after some investigation and upgrading to the latest T61 power drivers that were released a few days ago on the Lenovo site, MS support told me it is a fault of the T61 and that I would need to disable Microsoft APCI support to stop this memory leak from occuring and to take the issue up with Lenovo.
    I have used the verifier tool to confirm that it is the Windows XP SP3 battc.sys memory module leaking.
    I am running the latest T61 drivers and fully patch with MS drivers on SP3.
    As MS have told me it is the fault of the T61 I am posting this issue here.
    Thanks
    Stephen

    It is memory available to the kernelwhich itself does not show under a process in task manager as far as I am aware (unles it is taken account as part of the system process).
    The best way to measure the available kernel memory space available is by using sysinternals procexp.
    You need to download procexp and also install the windows debugging tools from Microsoft. Then in procexp set the "Options > Configure Symbols : Debughlp.dll path" to the new debughlp.dll installed with your debu tools and set the symbols path to srv*c:\Symbols*http://msdl.microsoft.com/download/symbols
    Then you can choose in procexp "View > System Information" and see the used and total paged and non-paged kernel memory space.
    poolmon helps monitor all the symbols that are taking up this memory and verifier lets you drill down to the exact module and the changes in memory for a module that is occuring.
    Here are two really good links on it
    http://blogs.msdn.com/ntdebugging/archive/2006/12/18/Understanding-Pool-Consumption-and-Event-ID_3A0...
    http://blogs.msdn.com/ntdebugging/archive/2008/05/08/tracking-down-mmst-paged-pool-usage.aspx
    In my poolmon i notice that Mmst and battc are taking alot of memory after my computer has been running for some time. Mmst being high is normal but battc should not continually be growing as it is which is why I raised the case to MS but they want verification it is not a Lenovo issue.

  • SQL Server 2008R2 SP2 Query optimizer memory leak ?

    It looks like we are facing a SQL Server 2008R2 queery optimizer memory leak.
    We have below version of SQL Server
    Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 (SP2) - 10.50.4000.0 (X64)
     Jun 28 2012 08:36:30
     Copyright (c) Microsoft Corporation
     Standard Edition (64-bit) on Windows NT 6.1 <X64> (Build 7601: Service Pack 1)
    The instance is set MAximum memory tro 20 GB.
    After executing a huge query (2277 kB generated by IBM SPSS Clementine) with tons of CASE and a lot of AND/OR statements in the WHERE and CASE statements and muliple subqueries the server stops responding on Out of memory in the internal pool
    and the query optimizer has allocated all the memory.
    From Management Data Warehouse we can find that the query was executed at
    7.11.2014 22:40:57
    Then at 1:22:48 we recieve FAIL_PACE_ALLOCATION 1
    2014-11-08 01:22:48.70 spid75       Failed allocate pages: FAIL_PAGE_ALLOCATION 1
    And then tons of below errors

    Last error message is half an hour after the inital Out of memory at 2014-11-08 01:52:54.03. Then the Instance is completely shut down
    From the memory information in the error log we can see that all the memory is consumed by the QUERY_OPTIMIZER

    On the other side MDW reports that the MEMORYCLERK_SQLOPTIMIZER increases since the execution of the query up to the point of OUTOF MEMORY, but the Average value is 54.7 MB during that period as can be seen on attached graph.
    We have encountered this issue already two times (every time the critical query is executed).

    Hi,
    This does seems to me kind of memory Leak and actually it is from SQL Optimizer which leaked memory from buffer pool so much that it did not had any memory to be allocated for new page.

    Can you post complete DBCC MEMORYSTATUS output which was generated in errorlog. Is this the only message in errorlog or there are some more messages before and after it.
    select (SUM(single_pages_kb)*1024)/8192 as total_stolen_pages, type
    from sys.dm_os_memory_clerks
    group by typeorder by total_stolen_pages desc
    and
    select sum(pages_allocated_count * page_size_in_bytes)/1024,type from sys.dm_os_memory_objects
    group by type
    If you can post the output of above two queries with dbcc memorystaus output on some shared drive and share location with us here. I would try to find out what is leaking memory.
    You can very well apply SQL Server 2008 r2 SP3 and see if this issue subsides but I am not sure whether this is fixed or actually it is a bug.

  • Memory Leak during EAR stop/update/start

    Hi all,
    Excuse me if I'm putting this question in the wrong forum - not sure if it should be here or "EJB". That being said - I am working on a project which is using Weblogic 11g and we have a set of EARs with EJBs deployed out. In one EJB we have a static variable which holds onto an object which is rather large (~2 Gigs).
    What I've noticed is that if I stop the EAR containing that EJB, update and restart it without restarting the server it's running on, the memory of that object does not seem to get GC'd. So basically, every time we make changes to that EAR and want to deploy we end up eating up a lot of memory.
    Our current way to fix this is to add a @pre-destroy method which basically does a "largeObject = null". This seems to allow it to be marked and collected by the Garbage Collector. However, I don't think this is the best solution for all static objects (what happens if we have an a bunch of EJBs in the pool and the AppContainer destroys one - all static references will get removed right?).
    Is there a reason that the AppContainer is holding on to those static references? Or am I missing something?
    Thanks,
    -Ritter

    An object referenced by a static member variable is strongly referenced until the class is unloaded. A normal classloader
    never unloads a class, but on an application server, such as WebLogic, this sometimes happens under the right conditions.
    A class in Java can be garbage-collected when nothing references it. In most simple setups this never happens, but there are situations where it can occur.
    There are many ways to make a class reachable and thus prevent it from being eligible for GC:
    - objects of that class are still reachable.
    - the Class object representing the class is still reachable
    - the ClassLoader that loaded the class is still reachable
    - other classes loaded by the ClassLoader are still reachable
    When none of those are true, then the ClassLoader together with all classes it loaded are eligible for GC.
    The best way to proceed is not to use global variables (which is asking for tricky memory leaks), especially ones that are 2G.

  • Memory Leak when TOMCAT connects to Oracle 10g RAC using JDBC Thin driver.

    We had experienced Memory leak when a Oracle 10g (10.2.0.3) RAC node was evicted. TOMCAT app server is connecting to the Oracle 10g RAC database instances using JDBC 10.2.0.3 thin driver.
    Anyone had similar experience?
    Any ideas? Any bugs reported/fixed?
    Thanks,
    Raj

    If you're doing XA, we absolutely do not support
    driver-level load-balancing OR failover. Use neither.
    For non-XA, you can use driver-level failover. For
    non-XA, you could set load-balancing, but it won't
    help because we get connections from the driver,
    and keep them indefinitely, so the driver never gets
    the chance to affect which connections the pool
    uses after that.
